SMS Failed - Vibrant General

Any Fixes on "Failed" when sending an SMS? (already searched and I tried master resets)
using the Samsung Vibrant's stock SMS app, I will often find the speech bubble when sending an SMS turning grey and instead of a timestamp it shows "Failed" and an Envelope with exclamation mark wind up in the notification bar.
I have to long press and click resend. However, sometimes it won't resend it just goes right back to "failed" over and over. I have also had all messages fail. this can be in full 3g signal, low edge signal, or in between so it wasn't no service. it's weird. its like it only tries once to send the text and if it doesn't go thru right away its shot.
I don't like Handcent/Chomp as they seem to act funny for me and I don't think the SMS issue happens any less.

It's happened to me a few times as well, usually i just restart the phone or give it a couple of min and retry it. Not sure what the cause is or how to fix it atm.

Used to get that a lot on my g1. Only seen a couple fail on my vibrant.

I am currently having this problem and its quite annoying

Got that all the time on my previous android devices such as myctouch 3g and the nexus one. I'm pleased that it doesn't happen very often on the vibrant to me. Best solution is to either wait a few minutes, or reboot.

When that happens I go into airplane mode then turn airplane mode back off and it lets me send messages again

Texting Issue

Anybody else have this problem? At completely random times, I just can't send text messages. I receive them with no problems, but I cant reply or intiate a conversation. They always say "sending." They sometimes send maybe an hour later or so, or I'll just restart my phone a few times which eventually allows them to send. Anybody elsehave this problem? Or is it just me....

Yea I have the same problem. Sent a txt last night was stuck on sending.restarted phone today then txt went through

This happens to me randomly, more so with my Hero than my Epic. I usually just reboot and it will go through. Sometimes switching to airplane mode and then back again will do the trick.
Happens to me on occasion. Has to do with the network not available when it happens despite the fact it shows good singal strength.

That and Sprint has been having 'issues' w both voice and data for a while now, like a couple months...? it is a 'known' issue (i.e. dont *****, they cant figure it out yet). Could be worse, you could get the 4am bulk mms sendout of your girls naughty pic she sent you (theres a thread about that issue...). I would save your mms, back up sms if you care, and delete all history... that may prevent sprint from messaging everyone you know.

Discussion on the "Infinite Sending Issue" (ISI)

Has anyone else noticed that your text messages get stuck in a never ending send, and they never get sent or fail at getting sent? This has happened to me five times where I send a text message, then about 30 minutes later realize it never sent...
This is the only flaw I've seen with EC05, along with TWS issue, but it is going to almost force me to switch back to EB13 modem if I can't figure out how to fix this.
I have not seen any of my texts not send and I have been on the ec05 modem for a week now. Possibly try toggling airplane just to reset modem.

I have, see I thought the problem was on my end...but it can't be.
I have flashed DI18 and EB13 and updated to EC05 three times now, and everytime without fail it happens. It doesn't happen right away, but it does happen and when it does I don't notice it til an hour later because it is just sitting there saying "Sending" and it never fails.
Are you running the stock version of EC05? Are you using any themes?

This is happening to me too. It is very annoying. I just turn the phone off and back on again and that usually solves the problem for me. But I'm getting tired of turning my phone off and on again every hour or so so I might switch back to EB13 as well

Whew I'm not going crazy. Yes the only fix is to turn on and off the phone. But if this continues I'm going to flip a **** because I text non-stop....
Haven't see that issue here and I've sent a lotof texts on ec05. I have seen some other weird text issues from from othr people that use sprint (like my wife). Things like garbled text, lost texts, etc.. I think it may be a Sprint issue more than a phone or rom.

Might not work...This happened to me with EB13...I haven't sent any texts yet with EC05 yet. If you still have stock touch wiz, clearing the memory seemed to make them send once stuck.
Or you could just wait...they'll send about 2 days later...every single one...at the same time. You'll get really interesting texts back from people.
I saw that problem back on eclair but havent had the issue since eb13 or ec05 clear the data in the sms program and the cache and that might help. Also i only noticed theissue if my phone had a really bd signal and was bouncing between roaming and not.

Instead of rebooting, have you tried long pressing the message that's stuck and then hitting resend?
ETA: You might have to long press, cancel, then resend. I forget the exact steps.

I've had this problem since DK28 and the only way I have found to make it work was rebooting. But now I found a workaround using the blackbionix theme..the dialer force closes when you end a call and that seems to fix it. Also when you clear level 2 memory, messages stop sending. I hope we get a fix for this. It has been driving me crazy!!!!
I also had a problem one morning where I woke up and the radio was dead. I had missed calls and texts but no idea I had them until I toggled airplane mode (because I saw there was no 3G icon next to the signal bars). After toggling airplane mode, a couple texts came through from 2 hours prior and a voicemail. All three were work related. This is stock EC05 rooted. I'm about ready for the Evo 3D to get here.
Only once, but my office can be like a bunker, so not consistently. They are instantaneous outside.

I have had something similar happen to me a couple of times. On a few occasions, the text was sent, but in a few seconds, it would show a message that it failed to send it. This has happened only on a few occasions, so cannot draw any conclusion about what is causing it.

Happened to me yesterday when I odined to EC05. Data and calls were fine, but text messages wouldn't go through. I tried rebooting, nothing. Updated my PRL to 60677, rebooted, and then my text mesaages were working fine. Not sure if updating PRL did it or the second reboot, but it's working fine now.

yep, clearing level 2 ram will stop texts from sending. After doing this and re-booting, you should be good (for a while at least). This is how I always dealt with it on eb13. I would have the issue, clear ram, then reboot. I had this problem very often with eb13, but since updating to ec05 I have not encountered it yet. I couldn't stand it, the text either wouldn't send or it would take forever then send multiple times to the recipient.

Lots of bugs/glitches with Nexus S

So I've been using the Nexus S for about one month now, my very first smartphone. Discaimer: I'm a NOOB to the core. I never rooted my phone, never thought of it.
I'm pulling my hair out at the following long list (and counting) of bugs and glitches I've noticed with my phone:
1) Menu settings randomly change (including ringtones)
2) screen doesn't turn off automatically, even though I have set screen auto off to 30 seconds. (this one is somewhat "dangerous" as I leave my phone in the bag and don't check it for a while, and later notice that my screen has been left on the whole time, draining my battery)
3) cannot make outgoing calls. I don't get outgoing ringing when I try to make outgoing calls. Also, during this time, the phone did not ring when there was an incoming call
4) pictures in the gallery come and go
5) The list of apps I downloaded disappear from "my apps" list in Android market
6) when I select a call from the call log, the phone dials a different contact
7) after using airplane mode, turning off airplane mode does not restore signal and 3G data
What's very frustrating is that all of these bugs seem to come and go randomly, without any "patterns" or "triggers." I've restarted the phone, and the issue I was having seems to go away, only to lead to another one a while later. I am wondering if any of these issues are known problems. Also, are these problems more likely to be software or hardware issues?
I'm running
Android 2.3.4
Baseband version I9020AUCKD1
Kernel version 2.6.35.7-ge382d80
Build number GRJ22
on Fido network in Canada.

You know, half the time i wouldn't even take note of the OP username and just go ahead and try to help, but you caught on to something here. Oddball username, 1 post and very unusual (really far out) problems/issues...
hmmm
1) Menu settings randomly change (including ringtones) - Probably user error. Or you're using apps that keep conflicting with your setup.
2) screen doesn't turn off automatically, even though I have set screen auto off to 30 seconds. (this one is somewhat "dangerous" as I leave my phone in the bag and don't check it for a while, and later notice that my screen has been left on the whole time, draining my battery) - Manually turn screen off after a given set of time, chances are, your bag is pressing up against the phone when you place it in and the phone keeps pressing buttons (My guess).
3) cannot make outgoing calls. I don't get outgoing ringing when I try to make outgoing calls. Also, during this time, the phone did not ring when there was an incoming call - I had this problem before, are you using Google Voice with integration?
4) pictures in the gallery come and go - Depends on the size of the images, the phone can only read so much data from SD card at a time. I assume you're not giving it enough time to load everything or you have a .nomedia file somewhere that's hiding your pictures from being shown.
5) The list of apps I downloaded disappear from "my apps" list in Android market - It's a known bug with some Market builds. Downloading another app or giving it a minute will usually fix the problem.
6) when I select a call from the call log, the phone dials a different contact - This is weird. Do you have a custom dialer app from the market that may have this bug? I played with my phone out of box a few days and nothing like this happened.
7) after using airplane mode, turning off airplane mode does not restore signal and 3G data - If you're in a weak signal area, it can take longer to gain 3G back. If it doesn't come back within 2 minutes, I suggest a reboot. I also suggest doing a profile update, PRL update, and firmware update (as Google has sent an OTA with bugfixes) to see if these problems can be fixed.
The only bug I experienced since I've got my Nexus S is that the Screen won't respond for a little while after unlocking my phone.
I didn't had the time yet to analyze the problem more detailed, maybe this also happens due to a specific widget? I don't know. I got a lot of them all over my four different home screens.
No response from OP yet people continue to respond. I think the fecal fan has left the building.

Please define what you mean by "user error." I don't know of any apps that can change the global notification ringtone.

Nexus S does not have an SD card slot AFAIK. I gave it plenty of time to load everything. I wouldn't expect my phone to require 5 minutes to load pictures. I own a smartphone, not a 486. On reboot, some pictures show up that weren't in the gallery before. After subsequent reboot, some other random pictures disappear.

I understand 3G can take longer, but it seems fishy that my cell signal doesn't come back. I waited more than 2 minutes and I ended up HAVING to reboot (twice in fact) to get both 3G and cell reception back.
Oh yeah, just yesterday, I experienced my first encounter with the mythical "search button of death" bug. Yay.

Yes this happens. BUT.... only when you mount the phone via USB and do not disconnect it properly. The phone doesnt have time to scan for your set ringtones, and therefore defaults it to some random mp3 or whatever.

Due to what i said above as well. This is a HUGE bug.
Every other problem you have is either user-error or an issue from your telco.
Have you done a factory reset of the phone? You may even have a virus. Just read somewhere that Android is the most targeted platform for them as of now.

Cm7 notification issues

Ok so i have this issue when ever i get a text and a pop up comes up it displays what was previously said from the person this is with chat from google talk and also handcent i cannot figure out why also when i go to look at my latest text message the olds ones are still at the top from another user i have played around with the phone all day no such luck on fixing it
So no one has notification issues?
Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk
Mayne try backing up and flashing the back up or just flashing over it. Havent heard that issue. I had to deal with a battery issue the last 2 days. Required 7 battery wipes and 3 flashes but i only lost 2 days worth of material and everything else is intact.
I voided my warranty and your mum.
Well it's a known issue in Handcent that sometimes changing from landscape to portrait mode causes the conversation list to skip back to the first message, making you scroll all the way back down to the latest text. Or you gotta hit the back button and reenter the conversation. Also, it sounds like you may be getting some late / double texts? If so, that could be an tower problem from wherever you're receiving the texts from, or the one closest to you. For example two weeks ago my ex girlfriends cell phone sent me 75 of the same text message over and over. Turns out it was a tower near where she was at somehow thinking the message wasn't sent.
Damn. 75 texts. Id be pisses. Ive had double texts all day a couple of time but that takes the cake.
I voided my warranty and your mum.
(incoming completely off topic story)
i was texting my friend once, and it sent the same text 7 times, and then BAM all of a sudden all the texts she sent me came at once after that. so i got the same text seven times, and then about 10 texts coming in all at once after that >.<

Problem receiving texts

So, a little bit ago my phone stopped receiving texts. It sends them out just fine, makes calls, the whole deal, just won't receive them. Every few hours I'll get every text that I've been missing, but that's really not all that conveinent.
Is this currently a Sprint issue, or is something wrong with my phone? I was on Syndicate 1.2 with Genocide 2.0, but I'm on stock and it's stil doing it.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
I would call Sprint to see if it is a reported issue in your area. May be a tower down. Is it different senders in different areas? In case it is an issue on the sender's side.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
text messages working fine for me
Going into and back out of airplane mode may help with this. The phone radio can sometimes get in a snit where it has trouble receiving texts, calls and VMs. It hasn't happened to me often but resetting the radio with this technique helped.
