Hi,
How can I download apps from Android Market to my PC (Windows)?
10x
If you want to download android apps you have to be running Android on your windows phone. - You should actually read before asking questions like this. I see per your post you are already running a custom rom on your phone so as you have already hspl, all you have to do is download a build of android from this forum to you desktop, plug in your phone and hit storage not sync and extract the build to the root of your storage card -
you also need to have a google email account to use the market.

Or, you can google "android. apk download" and some will come up, but you wont be able to do anything with them, keep them updated, and some might not even work.

10x for all replies, but I see that I made some confusion.
I have couple of Apps from Market that fail to install on my "mattc Leo + Froyo w/Sense RC1.4" build. I found in the thread that if I download them on PC and transfer to HD2 they may successfully be installed.
I did not find the APK on the net (google...and more), the only place is on the Market.
So here again I the QUESTION : How can I download application from the Market to my home desktop PC. Is there any Windows XP/7 clients available to do so?
You will have search google because there is no way to downlaod apps to the pc from the market.

Hey everyone I can't seem to update Facebook on the market. It keeps telling me this app needs a manual install. I read somewhere to go into the apps folder that's on the SD card and delete the apk but the only apks that are in that folder is opengl and abduction. Any advice? Also can someone show me where the system.ext. file is that enables GPS on this build? Thanks everyone.

This has been talked about already and u need to search,
But, ill help anyway,
Open up your file browser, then go to the ROOT of the device > system > app
Then delete the "facebook.apk" and reboot your phone and install from the market.
As for the zImage, download it here:
http://cotulla.pp.ru/leo/Android/Cotulla_zImage_VOLUME_SR_AUD.rar
Then extract it and replace the one on your SD card with this one, it fixes the volume and adds gps.

Hey everyone.
Sorry if this is not the right place for the topic, but a few days I am the owner of HTC Wildfire and do not know how to install applications on my SD card not in phone memory.
I would be very grateful if someone help me.
Thank you.
I am not sure if this is even possible.... (sorry if I am wrong...)
rootkit
I think it would be possible if rootkit was made for wildfire. We have to wait a bit for that.
ok
but how you deal when you want to install more applications ?
Hi there!
You can install apps from:
1.Market! Mother-source of android apps Just get an internet connection (Wi-Fi or 3G/Edge) and search an app and download from market
2.HTC Sync! If your apps on your PC you can use Sync to install apps Just connect your device to PC in HTC Sync mode then click to 'Application installer in HTC Sync. You can get Sync here.
3.If you don't want to use Sync you can download a file manager then (Astro FM and Estrong FM are good) put the apps from PC to phone's sD card by Storage Mode then open the apps by your file manager
zeph.
I think hes talking about installing on SD.
It is not possible until HTC updates the wildfire to 2.2(Froyo)

For now you can't. You can only install them on main memory..
You have to w8 for Paul from modaco to root the device first or else wait for the froyo update (if it comes out)...
Sorry I get your question as 'How can I install apps that on my sD card'
There is no GTalk in Mdeejay eVo Sense v. 2.0 rEVOlution, anybody know how to find it back?
I didn't notice it was gone lol. Download a different rom. Copy gtalk apk from system to sd card. Copy it off your sd card and load 2.0 push it through adb console

Sorry for my ignorance, is this "adb Push" done on the PC or the device? If on the device, do you have a link for the adb console? By the way, is it possible to install this app with SUFBS instead of the Android SDK?
Can anybody give a detail method? I have same problem here.Thxs

I tried already, the website listed all the google mobile products except Gtalk.
And I also tried to search from Google Market, still can't find Gtalk to download.
I have an HTC Wildfire with Froyo 2.2.1 factory. It did not come with Android Market.
I tried to install the following files that I found linked on XDA but they are force closing:
vending2.2.11-signed
Vending_original_froyo_1.82
com.android.vending_2.2.6
I just found a 2.2.7 and I will try that but does anyone know what I can do?
no root no market
As far as I know, you can not install market without root access. And factory 2.2.1 can not be rooted as of this moment. But soon hopefully we will have root thanks to alpharev devs.
Good luck.
You can install apks without root by using HTC Sync. I put Skype, eBuddy, etc on but I cannot seem to find the right vending.apk that won't keep crashing.

Its really painful to have an android phone without market app. The stock froyo wildfire doesn't even have a file manager. Just after the hard reset, everytime i had to download the "X-plore" file manager from market to access the sd card contents (and even to start installing apk files.)
Ok. U must have added a gmail account to ur wildfire. If not do it. I think in this way if ur phone can be registered on google, then u might have option to remote install apps from PC android market (or) even the android market from your stock browser of wildfire which has htc flash lite [using the same gmail account that is attached to phone]. From browser, just after clicking on the install option, then u will see device compatibility. Here if u can see "wildfire" then it is possible. Just after confirming the installation, ur wildfire starts downloading the requested application (provided wildfire should be connected to internet). If download doesn't start, i think this remote installation requires market application on phone.

APP BRAIN APP MARKET ACCESS:
Ok..... Irrespective of the above android market, u can access the app brain app market and install apps from it. This one also can be accessed from a browser for remote app installation. As the present "app brain" and "fast web installer" apps are available for free in market, im attaching those things for u.
--- First install the below attached AppBrain_App_Market_v6.02.apk file. Then install the below attached Fast_Web_Installer_v2.11.apk" file. Then open the app brain and sign in with appropriate account. Then sync the apps on your phone. Then go to its settings and enable fast web installer. That's all. Now u will have the direct install option from the "app brain" app or from the browser of app brain website.
And one more thing for u. I have extracted "vending.apk" from the system folders of my same stock 2.2.1 wildfire. When opened it replaces the market app on my wildfire.
So it might install the google market app on ur wildfire. Also attaching that file.
Yes you can install apks without root. But you can't install market (vending apk) without root. It is a system file. atleast I could not
I thought for appbrain to work properly you still need market installed on your device. I don't think simply installing vending apk would work. You will get force closes. But you can still try. If you can't get it to work, you can use slideme . You can get it from www.slideme.org. It does not have as many apps as market does but it is a start.
Good luck,

Thanks for the help all.
I will try the extracted Vending apk. If that fails I will go the appBrain route. I did install appBrain but uninstalled it without trying anything. I was committed to getting Market.
It does really suck that they would not give you a way to get Market if your phone did not come with it.

Maybe u r right. Maybe the enabling of fast web installer needs Android market licence agreement. But I think its hard to say these things.
To check this, phone needs to be formatted to remove the google/market account. It will try to check it when I get time.
Hope the vending.apk works

As a last resort you can flash an official WWE rom which has market in it. I believe this can be done with a goldcard.

Ok, i checked some things. I may be wrong, and pls correct me if so.
-- Installation from pc android market is the same as fast web installer. So, it will be like either both work or both doesn't work.
-- I freshly formatted the phone and added the gmail account. But didn't open the market app. That means i didn't accepted the android market terms of service. I think this case is similar to the absence of market application in phone. Now i opened the pc android market and sign in with the same gmail account. I tried to install an app, but the device is not listed in compatibility list. Same with the app brain here. App brain gets installed but fast web installer cannot be enabled.
-- Then i opened the android market and accepted the terms of service. Now i can install apps from pc android market. Also here the fast web installer of app brain can be enabled. Everything works fine.
-- Then what i did is , go to the settings/ applications/manage applications/ , then opened market and uninstalled updates. Also cleared the data. This makes the android market become stock one again. Now when opened, it again asks for terms of service. Now without accepting the terms of service, i tried to install apps from pc android market. And it worked. Also the app brain fast web installation works here.
-- If i again format the device, same thing will be repeated again. I need to accept the terms of service for only the first time to make the fast web install work.
-- And if we change the sim card, we need to re-enter the password of the gmail account again. And till that, fast web installation will not work.
I don't know how to explain these, but maybe google will be having details regarding our phone format.

What i said in post #4 might not work.
And u said u installed apps with HTC sync. Is that ur carrier disabled the installation from unknown sources. If it is the case, OMG u really need a WWE RUU. If its not the case, maybe vending.apk or the WWE RUU solves ur problem.
If ur hboot is 1.01.0002 , then u can go with this process to flash a WWE RUU

I will check hboot. I did try reflashing it with some RUUs and it told me version mismatch, but that RUU had a lower version number.
This is an unlocked phone bought from online. I can install from unknown sources, I just can't seem to install the Vending.apk because they force close.
It would force close when I launch.
Then I try again and it would let me in.
Then it would force close when I search
Then it would let me back in and let me search
Then it would force close when I try to install an app. That is as far as it will go as it will force close everytime I try to install an app.
I will try all this stuff when I get the chance. Right now I am using my Moto Defy which I wish would get Froyo
You get version number error because the firmware on your phone is newer. But If you create a gold card and install the ruu it should work. Just search for gold card tool from klush( I hope I did not misspell it). It is very easy to do.
Then you should be able to flash any official ruu.

Sorry, appbrain just won't work if you don't have the market installed, as AppBrain still lets the market handle all app downloads.
may be u can use 1mobile market beside android market.because it almost cover all application in android market.the good news is yo don't need to register anything to download and install in your wildfire

Hi,
First post so please be gentle. I've got a Lg GT540 running 1.6 and wanted to install a couple of apps onto the phone internal memory, so I got the apk files onto my desktop and connected the phone up via usb and could not and have not been able to copy these files onto the internal memory. In fact the phone does not come up as a drive or anything and copying the files onto the sd card leaves them stuck there and not being installed.( Mainly the astro file manger app.)
I then considered upgrading the phone to 2.1 via the LG site and downloaded LG suite etc and all was going well until the process stopped at 4% upgrade and requested I disconnect from pc, remove battery etc etc. I tried to follow that procedure 3 times and it still failed.
Not beaten I then found some stuff online to enable me to reflash to 2.2 (Modaco) and started that process. One of the first things it required me to do was start the phone in Fastboot mode by holding the camera button down whilst powering up. THe phone stubbornly refused to go into Fast boot.
Sooo, How do I get to copy Astro onto the internal memory so I can do what I want to and/or how can I upgrade to 2.2/
Firstly when you try to get into fastboot it wont work until you install a fastboot kdz.
This will allow you to flash roms onto ur phone.
I've made a video on a "how to" its in the general, look trought the pages or visit www.YouTube/user/tech2tuts
There's also a video on how to install android 2.3 swiftdroid. Its on the same channel in the favorites.
But beware u will lose all you apps unfortunately. Unless you get astro file manager or titanium back up which requires your phone to be rooted.

Hi Chris, Thank you for the link to the demo and I will need to look at that with a view to implementing. No doubt I'll be asking for some assistance during the process.
However I'm still at a loss with not being able to install apps directly onto the phone memory and would appreciate some pointers on that. I have acess to a desktop running XP and a laptop running Windows 7.
Thanks in advance.
You probly cant install apps due to lack of internal memory. Bye install the Kdz it will enable over 230mb of internal , along with apps to sd, so no need for use of internal.
unable to install apps
Thanks again, but phone showing 3.6 gb avaiable on sd card and 120mb available on internal memory?
I really want to know why my pc connection only reads my sd card and not the internal memory. Is there an approved way of connection ie whether I need to use any LG software etc.
Hmm that's odd. When you connect to comp it should only show SD card, have u tried a factory reset?

Hi again,
have made some progress and managed to update the os to 2.1 off the LG site.
When usb plugged into pc it does read the sd card and I am able to copy files inc apps to it but do not know how to run them!!! My belief is that I need to install apps to the phone memory???
Ohhh i think i see your problem now.
So uve downloaded apps from this website or other?
And you want to know how to install them?
Get astro file manager or any other ones the same, connect your phone, put the Downloaded file into a folder , like downloads in your SD card then disconnect your phone , open astro the go into SD card and downloads folder and press on the app, it will ask you to install and Bam your done.
Or if its saying that ur not able to install it, go settings>applications>development>usb debugging tick it and also allow installation or 3rd party apps tick that to.
I think that what you mean?
Hi Chris, I think you are close to understanding my problem, I have a apk file of astro pro on my pc but am not sure where to copy it to. I have tried copying it onto my sd card but am then not able to run it?
Do I need to have the phone rooted etc?

The first thing to do would be to downlaod Astro Free from the market and then navigate to the sd (home on astro) and select the apk, open app manager and install, install. Now it will be installed.
Tap here and then tap download directly from market to download from market.

A very big thank you to Chris and Quinney I actually had the Astro apk on my laptop and sent it across via Bluetooth and I'm now up and running, Only had bluetooth working since the update to 2.1
Wouldn't mind getting it to run a little faster though, I see people reporting 800mhz being smooth.
