Hi,
I'm looking for a stock ROM for the GT-i9020A as I want to switch back to the default Gingerbread that my phone came with (2.3.3, or I would also be happy with 2.3.4)
What I have done:
Unlocked bootloader
Installed ClockworkMOD
Installed Cyanogen 7
The problem is that I don't have a copy of the stock Gingerbread that I can flash on my phone. I've scoured high and low on the net, the XDA forums, XDA wiki and other forums, and I can't find it anywhere
I would prefer to keep ClockworkMOD on the recovery, but my main concern is getting back to stock Gingerbread, so I'm OK with it being removed. I can always just boot into it with 'fastboot' if I need to.
Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks
Well, I eventually found a roundabout solution that got me back to 2.3.4, and even let me keep ClockworkMOD. Hopefully this helps someone.
BE AWARE - this has only been tested on my GT-I9020A
I followed this video until just after they do the restoration (before they remove ClockworkMOD) to get my phone to GRH78 (2.3.1?). When I rebooted, my radio didn't work and I couldn't connect to my carrier. I then downloaded this file (which updates to 2.3.3), and ran it in ClockworkMOD by doing the following:
put the zip file onto the sdcard partition
booted into ClockworkMOD
selected "install zip from sdcard"
selected "choose zip from sdcard"
[selected the zip file]
Shortly after I booted into 2.3.3, I received a notification from Google to update to 2.3.4, which I did. After the update to 2.3.4, I restarted and everything was fine =)

hi guys,
first of all,im not sure if this is the right place to post this thread,if not, sorry about it!
so,my problem is,on my huawei u8800 i was using a MIUI rooted rom,but it was unstable,so i just instaled the official latest rom 2.3.5 gingerbread from huawei's website..thing is,as this is an UPDATE.APP file i have now lost my CWM and it has been replaced to "android system recovery 3e"(or utility) and now everytime i want to get in CWM i cant,i found this room annoying as it is allready the 4th time that after 2 or 3 days using this rom everytime i restart the phone or remove the battery it gets stuck on the animation bootstart..and i have to instal the rom again..so i found another rom (ics aurora_3.0_beta2) but i cannot install without CWM..android system recovery 3e only gives me "reboot sytem now, apply update from sdcard, wipe data/fact reset, wipe cache partition, touchscreen firmware update" and i need the other options like instal zip from sdcard, advanced, bla bla bla...does anybody knows how can i get this sorted out,im just e newbie, lol,so if someone knows please explain it to me!thanks guys
by the way,i wanted recovery-clockwork 5.0.2.6 instaled if possible!
ps,sorry for the big text
This link might help:

Also check out aurora ics forum in development section for instructions on how to flash.
Edit: always check first post on a thread.
Official gb always removes everything from your phone, it is like a factory reset.
You need cwm 5.0.2.7 or 5.5.0.4 for aurora.
Try searching the forum for help, it is full of useful info!
solved
thanks man!!!did it just like it says and im now running aurora ics 4.0.4!!look really nice !good post!thanks
Glad it worked!

sorry for the noobish Q's, its been a long time since i've messed with the a500. Last thing I did was flash a kernel and haven't touched it since. Receive OTAs but the always fail. Current settings
Android Version: 3.1 !!! i know...
Kernel Version 2.6.36.4honeyvillain-1.0+
Build # Acer_A500_4.010.10_COM_GEN2
downloaded the full 4.010.10_com_gen2
extracted zip
put to ext sd
changed to stock recovery through ARI V2.74
Power+vol to run stock recovery
Booted fine....
Back to settings...No Change.
What do I need to do to get to stock to receive ota and eventually ICS?
Thanks

The reason your kernel is the same, is that you're probably not cleaning the system well enough before installing the newer rom. It sometimes happens even with a stock rom install, that not all the kernel files get cleaned out. I've seen this with older versions of other roms.
With CWM, it's advisable to do some wipes and formats before running the stock rom. Like Data, cache, system, dalvik and maybe even flexrom if applicable.
actually all good. thought it would not update because of that....but about 8 updates later, I'm on ics.

Try to install the previous update, and then with recovery stock reinstall the last update.

but it gave me the same error again!
This time I took a screenshot with an old phone:

Is your previous update the full OTA? The incremental is not valid. If you did root any time your system is modified. You must reinstall the full zip.

yes: my system was rooted, so I had to perform a full wipe and install what I think to be the full zip (cm-bacon-64003595ee-to-ced5430fc0-signed.zip 377MB)
where can I download the full zip just to make sure?
does the full zip update wipe apps and data?
thanks in advance for the help

This time you needn't do full wipe. Only installing the full OTA via TWRP and then you must come back to the original recovery and install the incremental update. By this way you will have the last update.
All the links are in a post on this web, I don't remember the name of the post, but is easy to find.

thanks! here I found the CM13.0 Signed flashable zip
cm-13.0-ZNH0EAS2JK-bacon-signed.zip 691 MB
rebooting
applying full zip via stock recovery
rebooting - everything apparently the same
applying update via stock recovery
rebooting... optimizing apps...
success! COS 13.1 up and running! (phone very warm though)
thank you very much for the support. (why messing with android must be so complicated?)
Hi, i also have an ERROR while installing the OTA.
1. I had updated to CM13 via OTA.
2. Since I had an issue with stuck lockscreen , installed TWRP and wiped cache ( Stock CM recovery was not helping). Phone worked great since then.
3. TWRP was not longer there, instead CM Recovery.
4. New update has arrived, but i get an "ERROR" word in the middle of screen while installing.
What can I do?
Thank you in advance for your response.
Seems to be fine. Minimal fixes but at least something...

I am sure some one else will be able to answer this better
I haven't flashed this update yet neither I am camera enthusiast.
Updated on this one yesterday, and I regret it....my phone now charges very slow, it took 8 hours to fully charge, dont have this issue before, tried everybody else fixes, but did nothing...do anybody has the flashable ZIP on the previous version and can be flashed using stock recovery?
Thanks
Trying to update the 4.5.1 and it seemed to have gone fine until it automatically reboots into TWRP recovery. Upon rebooting into system, it states the update failed. With TWRP having all those jumbled folder names right now (has this been fixed yet?) it's hard to see if the update downloaded somewhere to internal storage, and further if it could be flashed even if I found it. Is updating with an OTA like this possible? I know on basically all other phone it is not. Has anyone gotten the update to work while being unlocked, rooted, with TWRP? Thanks.

Generally you need to reflash the previous Full ROM with TWRP and then flash the OTA on top for it to work as the system must be unmodified. Alternatively, you can just flash the latest Full ROM. Currently those are not available, but that's generally how it works.
If u have installed twrp before updating the stock rom, I guess we have to wait for full rom of latest update 4.5.1 which can be flashed via twrp.
P.s. FLASHING the dwnloaded update via twrp will gives u error.. So have to wait for full rom. ?
