Noticed yesterday that Hotmail is only allowing POP connects every 15min, so when new mail arrives and you delete something, google tries to send the delete request to hotmail and it times out since it hasn't been 15min. Sad, but migrating to the Hotmail exchange settings may be the final solution. I just havent' got it to work properly yet. If anyone has had any success setting Hotmail up as Exchange let us know. Thanks
EDIT: Found directions...trying now..
Microsoft has mentioned that Exchange ActiveSync will be a separate roll out from the roll out of Windows Live Hotmail Wave 4. Officially, Exchange ActiveSync support on Hotmail not yet been released officially before end of 2010. However, it seems that the Exchange ActiveSync support has been enabled for some, but more and more Hotmail accounts, regardless of whether the accounts have been converted to Wave 4 or not.
For mobile phone users, such as iPhone iOS-based, Android-based, Windows Mobile-based, Blackberry-based smartphone and other cell phones which support Exchange account setup, the settings for syncing Hotmail account through Exchange Active Sync is as follow:
Email: [email protected] or [email protected]hotmail.com or [email protected]
Server Address: m.hotmail.com
SSL: Enabled
Username: [email protected] or [email protected]hotmail.com or [email protected]
Password: password
Domain: <blank>
Note that each mobile portable devices have different settings, preferences or configuration names, but the basic information required is about the same. For example, in iPhone, go to Settings -> Mail, Contacts, Calendars, and create a new Micorsoft Exchange account. In Android based device, go to Settings -> Accounts & Sync, and add a new corporate account.
After setting up the Exchange Hotmail account, change the “Mail Days to Sync” or “Amount to synchronize” from 1 day to other value in order to receive more emails including old one in Inbox.
If you have encountered incorrect password, unable to connect to Exchange server, unable to open connection to server, or Exchange account verification failed error message, your Hotmail account probably hasn’t have Exchange Active Sync support turned on yet.

doesn't work for me
EDIT:
it works
server: smtp.live.com
port: 587
security: TLS

I found it was easier to just make a googlemail.com account and forward my pop based mail to that.
At least then I've also got proper push email, you could probably hide your google address to show your hotmail one too, I've not looked too deep in to that one, I'm sure it can be done, you can do it in things like Outlook etc.

Got exchange access now how do that push thing

A awesome member here offered free exchange accounts so I took one. Now how do i use it to set up direct push I have the server address and my account info but where from here I am lost
Is the exchange account hosted on an Exchange 2003 Service Pack 2 server? If not, Direct Push wont work as it is.
If server is Exchange 2003 SP2, setup active sync to add a server, enter details. Then goto Active Sync schedule and setup to receive when new items arrive, then manually sync once (this will send settings to the server). Thats about it
i assume you refer to mail2web
its on my site
Sign up live.mail2web.com and use push mail on your WM5 devices for FREE!! (Your WM5 must have push mail enabled - aka AKU2)
Ok so you have setup the account but dont know how to setup the mobile device, well follow these instructions and you should be up and running with free push mail
In Activesync
click
- add server source..
Server name: mobile.exchange.mail2web.com
User name: [yourusername]@mail2web.com
Domain: ad2

50 email limit in Hotmail

Hi there,
I've tried searching for this but can't seem to find the answer anywhere. I want to be able to download all my hotmail emails to my HTC Touch HD, but currently theres a limit to 50 on my hotmail account.
Is there anyway of doing this? I'm sure I used to be able to do it on a previous version of windows mobile but can't seem to now. It seems so bizaare that you can't, as I often want to go back to old emails, and don't always want to go through the web to get these.
Maybe there's a better email application, or even outlook for windows mobile which I could use?
Thanks for any help,
Tom
try setting up your email account using Outlook Mobile's POP3 settings (pop3.live.com / smtp.live.com). during the setup process don't use the real email address @hotmail, or @msn or @live, use @hotmaill, @msnn or @livee. once you've completed the setup you can go back to change to the correct email account name. the only downside is you lose the push feature. your phone will poll your email account based on the interval you select during setup. i'm using this setup for my MSN account, where email arrives every 5 minutes duirng the day and every 30 minutes in the evenings.
Thanks mate, thats perfect. Don't need to have push email anyway.
Cheers, Tom

Hotmail account on HD
Hi all,
Anyway of getting my hotmail account to go through the Outlook on the phone, WITHOUT having my account on Messenger?
It seems you can only have one account setup on messenger, as as my messenger account.
Now when you setup messenger using a hotmail account, you have the option to get all emails going through the outlook, and download to the phone as normal.
BUT I dont use a hotmail account for my messenger, and my main email accoutn is a hotmail account... hope this doesnt confuse you! But my messenger is a "dead account" and any emails sent to that email go no where.
So If i try setup my hotmail account in the outlook, put in all the setting like email address, password ect, it just takes me to hotmail.com on my Opera browser, but does not save the settings in outlook?
Sorry for confusion!
Not sure I've followed you correctly.
I also don't use messenger but I do have hotmail on my device in emails tab. I used Windows Live to set it up which is on most HD roms. Once you've gone through process of setting up and sync'ing your hotmail account will appear in emails tab like any other email account
Ah yeah, but the problem is, Windows Live just like messenger only lets you have one accoutn setup at once.
So I set my hotmail up with windows live, my emails appear. Thats good.
But then it also sets Messenger up, with the hotmail account, which I dont want, if you get me?
you might be able to setup multiple hotmail accounts using the method listed here. i use this to access 2 msn accounts and 1 live account. not push, but works just as well.

ActiveSync For Hotmail is out

Dont spam me saying move to Gmail some of us still use both. Tried and test on Villainrom 1.4.4, working a treat.
ActiveSync Set-Up for Hotmail Access
• If your device supports only one profile of ActiveSync, delete the existing ActiveSync profile on your device if you already use it
• Enter the following:
URL - m.hotmail.com
Username - Enter full name with domain info, e.g. [email protected]
Domain - Leave blank put \[email protected]
SSL - Enabled
Certificate - Accept the SSL certificate when prompted
Mail, Contacts, Calendar, Tasks - All can be enabled.

Would be excellent as mine has stopped pushing consistently recently and only works when it feels like. Does this now work for you? I have a .co.uk address and run rooted 2.1 stock.
Sent from my HTC Hero using XDA App
I have not test it on Android 2.1 but it is working with .co.uk addresses
I let Gmail get my hotmail, and label it as such, and even reply from Gmail as from my Hotmail account.
Does the Hotmail ActiveSync also sync calendar events?
Yep and contacts

Email Alerts

Hi I have a question on email alerts. search did not yield any answers.
My N1 is connected via HSDPA to my Hotmail account (paid, if that matters).
I often get email alerts, from the bottom up if that makes sense. for example: the topmost email on the page is the latest, but sometimes the n1 is refreshing from the bottom too, and it alerts an unread email as "new email" there.
I just want to get alerts of new emails.
Anyone?
Change your email settings for Hotmail to Exchange ActiveSync, it works a million times better.
Thanks.
I do not have an exchange server. I use windows live on the web to read mail normally.
I'm using these settings:
Incoming:
Protocol - POP
Email address - my email
Username - my email
Password - my password
POP Server - pop3.live.com
Security type - SSL
Server port - 995
Outgoing:
SMTP server - smtp.live.com
Security type - TLS
Server port - 587
Windows live is now exchange compatible, hence my reply.
The hotmail exchange settings don't work for android
unless you got them working somehow?
This is what I've tried:
http://www.liveside.net/2010/08/30/exchange-activesync-now-available/
http://androidforums.com/incredible...have-hotmail-exchange-activesync-working.html
I don't have a real exchange server to setup touchdown with.
http://groups.google.com/group/nitrodesk/web/installing-the-latest-beta?pli=1
It works fine for Android with those settings, I've been using it for months on the stock email app.

Need help setting up outlook email and calendar

I am using CM 10.1. I would like to set up my outlook account on my phone. I just can't seem to get it working when trying with the exchange method. Not sure why. I tried the outlook.com app and it connects to my account but does not display any emails or calendar. Its like its not working. So I am stuck with my email set up with IMAP method. Anyone was able to set up their outlook/exchange account with email and calendar on their N4 running CM 10.1? Thanks.

In the outlook app, go to settings and increase the number of days to sync. I think the default is small (like 3 days).
As for Corporate (ActiveSync);
Email address: <[email protected]>
Password: <obvious>
-Hit cancel, or wait to fail-
Domain\Username: <[email protected]> (no backslashes)
Server is m.hotmail.com (m.outlook.com is for Outlook 360 accounts)
Use secure connection (SSL)
Port: 443
only sync "Email, Calendar, and Contacts".

I tried those steps before and again. No good. I tried getting support from Microsoft but I think I keep getting folks who are not qualified to troubleshoot with me. I'm curious if anyone is in the same boat with me or if there is something wrong? Any help is appreciated.
