hello! how can i import wav file to be my new sms file. i can change ring tone but can't seem to know where to put the file for the os to make it into the list for new sms message tone. unless we can't.
terence
well so far i've found no way to add new sounds to the normal pda nonSpc phone sounds and notification
not sure why that is
new sms sound is possible
I have stated elsewhere on this forum that I've used a Butler style voice saying 'There's a message for you' (halmsg)
I have also changed my general notifications to a sexy girl's voice saying 'Open your eyes! (open your eyes)
& here's a cool ring tone (Pearl & Dean)
but how do you make them apear on the list ? in sounds and notifications ?
i tried looking for every post you ever made in your profile to find the post but found only a post where you said you changed it not how
I like the pearl and dean sound - can you make it available for download please - thanks
anything you have in your browser window (well most things anyway)
are first transfered to your pc
look in
dokuments & settings\[Name]\local settings\Temporary Internet Files\
the wma file should be in one of those dirs in temp internet files
along with all the gif's and jpg's and such that www pages have on them
1. For a wav/wma file to appear as ring tone, PASTE the file into your RINGS folder under WINDOWS on your device.
2. For the file to appear as SMS sound notification, PASTE the file into the WINDOWS folder on your device.
3. To achieve change other notofication not included in the notification list, use any registry editor and change the SOUNDS entry in your registry to point exactly what you want to be played.

ok thanks
Hi
How can we change the sound when receiving a SMS message ?
Can we do it by callerid ?
thank you
You can change the sound notification under Sounds & Notification, once you open Sounds & Notifications go to Notification window there you will be able to change the sounds for different alerts.
And how to add a new SMS sound file to the device? It cannot be done by adding the *.mp3 or *.wav file to /windows/rings folder...
no but you can explore to where you put the ringer, tap and hold it, and choose add as ringer. that automatically puts it into the ringer folder and populates the drop list.
You can add a new SMS alert by putting a .wav file into the /windows folder, and then go to Settings / Sounds & Notifications / Notifications /Messaging: New Text Message, where you can choose your new .wav from the list.

Click to collapse
Its not a file your looking for its a folder.
From your device
Open up file Explorer and there is a drop down list at the top left. Choose My Device then scroll down and you will see your windows folder.
From You PC with the Exec Connected.
Open activesync and click explore from the top. Then double click on the first line "My Windows Mobile-Based Device" . Then you should see your windows folder there.
Does anyone know how I can change the sound that is played when you send a SMS

Hi,
di you know if it is possible to create Rules (like Rules and Alert on Outlook 2003 for example), that redirect incoming SMS (or mail, MMS etc...) to a specific subfolders ?
The idea is to redirect incoming message to a subfolder for each person.
For example, when I receive the acknowledgement of the administrator, the message will be redirected to an "Administrator" subfolders.
etc...
A solution already exists for this ?
Do you know if it is technically possible ?
Thank you !
I'm also interested in automatically redirected SMSs. I hope this thread will become active again!

Me too ....
I was organising messages into sub folders until I found out that PocketCM doesn't show the threaded SMS that are stored in folders other than inbox/outbox
i too wish to have that feature on my phone.. it takes ages to sort things out..
dont care about if pocketcm will show it or not..
You could try something like smssecurity which allows you to define rules and handles the selected messages in a sepearte program.
I've used button mapping to open smssecurity with 2 presses of my internet button, so it's no harder than chaging folders within the main sms folder
It also allows you to password protect your messages

any kind soul can advise is it possible to select a mp3 for sms tone??
if can, how to do it??
tks alot
Yes it is.
Put the .mp3 or .wav file into the phone's \My Documents then select it as usual in the "sounds & notifications" window of the personal tab of control panel. Look for "Messaging: New text message" and assign the .mp3.
mp3 as new message arrives...
Hmmm, be careful. If you're mp3 file is "long" or
over 15 seconds, it will become annoying because it
will play the entire song even if you answer or view
your new text message. Please confirm this, as this
is what I observed on my HTC HD.
yep
Tested it with a guns n roses song and you are right it kept playing after i read the text, will try shortening the song or look for an app that can control this problem
For work, I receive email notifications for my voicemail. It includes an attachment allowing to play them directly from my phone. They are .wav format but do not seem to play correctly when I open them. I see a message popup saying that the player does not support this type of audio file. Am I to believe that this modern OS does not know how to handle a .wav file?
