Are any developers working on mms???? - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Are any developers working on mms?

No. Everyone wants a phone without certain features working.
Cmon. Patience. These devs are working their butts off on numerous things... ESPECIALLY those that are common problems!

MMS is working on my cm6 rc1 build by zego.. i'm with tmo and the settings was the default settings from when i first loaded this android build. I've seen ppl complain about it not working and some does like mine for instance. So i'm guessing it depends on the settings of your one's network provider..

Ooppss.. can't edit with android xda app.. anyway, i meant "your network provider"

I'm also on T-mobile US I couldn't send mms with any version of Android. I kept searching on here... no luck so then i seen someone post that it was working for them they were using the Miri 23569 v17.6 rom so i changed roms and it started working i have not really tested it with any other version of Android but the Cyn6 but it is working for me there with 2.10 radio.

Jus to let u know u can edit posts while using the XDA app, jus long press your post and select Edit.
And to OP, the devs don't like when people bug about features that they know don't work or have bugs, they'll get to them as time comes, jus wait like everyone else.

interesting, i have the same problem just can't send mms. im using miri v17 right now. maybe i will try v17.6

just swapped over to miri 17.6 and the 2.10 radio. MMS receiving still works. however sending does not. also tried settings listed here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=735532&highlight=MMS+settings&page=104
no dice.
A few strange things i do notice though. when you first start trying to send, the data icon on the top bar acts like its interacting with servers. i killed all processes to try and ensure there was no background data going on, still acted the same.
I then long pressed on the MMS i was trying to send and viewed the message details. Interesting find... The message details claims the entire message is only 1kb.
im going to continue to play with settings and see whats up.
disregard the possible background data. that data was being used restoring apps from the last android version i had installed.

I cant believe that I have my CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) i did not notice this.
IP address octets cannot have a octet begin with a 0
So. having said that. use these settings and have a great time sending messages.

I asked the developers not you! actually u replying to my thread is meaningless since u dont have any info on mms. I know wat the developers has done thus and we all are thankful. But this thread was made to either get some working mms, the status, some different settings i havent tried or for a dev to post the current progress on mms. now go sit in the corner and take a time out.

what are the settings?

ROM's with no SenseUI and stock Messaging App should work without error as long as APN is correctly Set. Stock/Non-Sense UI Rom's APN:

ROM's WITH SenseUI all have the same issue/bugs if you are on T-Mobile in the US (even with the correct APN's set).
MMS pictures are shrunk to tiny tiny 2kb images when receiving with that HTC Messaging App, this is because Sense sends in the user-agent string for MMS found in: /system/customize/MNS/default.xml
T-Mobile's MMS server's doesn't recognize the "HTC Desire" user-agent string therefore when receiving MMS, you get a tiny tiny thumbnail pic. I think you can set it to "NexusOne" Or was it "Nexus One/Build FRFxx". Forgot if it was one or the latter. (OH.. this is only for TMOUS People, I don't think this affects european peeps, since the Desire Rom was made for that region.) Problem with this is, I think those settings are loaded with the initial setup (first boot, and I'm not sure where it's stored afterwards. If you modify now and save it, it seems to have no effect. Also, customized SenseUI seems to ignore the file altogether?)
Those with incorrect, or missing APN's using any ROM with SenseUI. If you are on T-Mobile, your settings should be as follows (This will allow you to send and receive, but theres the file size restriction):

Will Pay Cash 4 who ever helps and gets my MMS to work - ($20US)

I know, everyone wants to tell me to search for it. But honestly, have you tried to "search" for it? When I go looking, I find everything but a decisive answer on how to do what I would like. SO if you'll bear with this LONG post. You'd not only be helping me, but others possibly. Sorry for the long posts... People hate reading them... I just want some simple help... without getting slapped down for not being able to find all the info I need from "searching" the forums. Pppppplease (says roger rabbit)
Not that I think it matters. I'm in the USA, running the HERO on a GSM Edge network (CellOne or CellularOne - aka: chinookwireless.net).
IF anyone out there knows how to get MMS working on CellOne (cellonenation.com) on this phone... (I LOVE YOU! and would pay a small amount of cash ($20) even to you if your info "works" via paypal - I'm an honest fellow... trust me you'll get the money).
I've tried to fanagle the settings on http://www.cellonenation.com/support/ they have a link near the bottom of the page "What if you have a smart phone? (CLICK HERE)" (multiple HTC phones, none are andriod). But with no success.
Current APN Settings on the HERO HTC that I've got working Phone, Internet and SMS are:
Name: internet.chinookwireless
APN: internet.chinookwiress.com ( this APN is all I need to get internet and SMS working )
Proxy: <not set>
Port: <not set>
Username: <not set>
Password: <not set>
Server: wapgw.chinookwireless.net
MMSC: http://mms.cellonenation.net/mms/
MMS Proxy: 204.181.155.195
MMS Port:8080
MMS Protocol:Wap 2.0
MCC: 310
MNC: 570
APN Type: <not set>
None of those MMS settings in with various combination changes seem to matter (still nothing works). I've contacted my provider and they won't support my phone as they don't sell it. MMS is turned on and part of my calling plan, I've confirmed that. The phone was ordered from Buy.COM vendor in the US it is factory unlocked. Help?
One final thing to request... The internet on CellOne is either REALLY, REALLY slow (up to 30 seconds just to load google.com (mobile version)) or there must be a better radio driver out there? How to on that would be grand as well.
Phone was purchased beginning of August 2009.
HTC Hero (the actual phone, not just the ROM)
Firmware: v1.5
Kernel version: 2.6.27-8dd6dee
Build number: 2.73.405.5 146733 (LATEST HTC FACTORY ROM - 9/11/09)
Software version: 1.0.0.A6288
HERO CVT SHIP S-ON
HBoot 1.76.007 (HERO10000)
MicroP-010f
Touch Panel-syn0104
RADIO-6.35.06.18
I've "rooted" my phone (using "Recovery-RA-HERO-v1.2.2.img" and "flashrec-20090815.apk" - as I got told I couldn't install "flashrec-1.1.2-20090909.apk" by the phone when I tried to install it), and also used the SDK adb to push and allow permissons for su and superuser.apk.
The instructions (and videos) on theunlockr.com seemed to help me with that, and I'm a total NOOB. As now that's where I'm at. Not much further.
Why don't I try a custom ROM? Well when I did that (Madacco's Custom ROM - http://android.modaco.com/content/h...2/03-09-hero-roms-radios-in-update-zip-format )... my SMS quit working all together. Since that's a "pretty nice feature" to have... I stepped back and went to the manufacturers ROM update that was just released. It seemed I got all the "speed" of the recent Madacco ROM and my SMS worked. I am willing to even try another custom ROM as long as I don't loose functionality of what I've already got to solve my MMS problem...
Help please
hello,
two things
1)I've contacted my provider and they won't support my phone as they don't sell it <= you can get a mms cellphone who is selled by this carrier, to find out were is the problem with technical support help.
2) use an other phone to make some tests : send an mms to your mobile with a standard mobile to test e/r. if it work in the two ways, it must be the mobile settings.
try that and come back to tell us
(sorry, i'm french and not very good at shakespeare's language )

Yes, that is two separate APNs. Mainly because wapgw.chinookwireless.net looks like an APN to me, And no network in the world that i have seen has anything in the server field!!
And yes, you DO need to set the APN Types.

Rooted HERO Thx
Hello,
I have rooted my Airtel HTC HERO.
My problem was, i couldnt start the mobile in recovery mode from command line of my windows[fastboot boot recovery.img command]. so i booted my mobile in recovery mode[home+power button] and then i used the adp command to root my mobile as given in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=543571.
Regards,
Muthu
go ask in that thread then, instead of trying to hijack an old dead one regarding a totally different topic.
Same Issue Windows Mobile 6 Pro
I hope there's still enough life left in this thread. I cannot get any settings to work for MMS on Cellular One MT. I've used all the cellonenation pdf's and all the access settings that I've found on this thread and other similar threads. Still not quite sure what I'm doing wrong. I'm running a somewhat odd phone, a Techfaith Cynthia 850 (sitronics 850). Everything seems to be mostly stock wm6, but still having mms issues. Cellone says it's turned on, but none of the settings I've tried have done anything.
Any suggestions anyone can give will be welcomed.

just tried with same set up.... minus the miri rom... running the chucky droid rom... these settings do not work for me....
NONE OF THE POSTED SETTINGS WORK FOR ME... CRAZY thing is i was able to send one last night. ONE! thats it????????????????
tesing multiple message sending now. with initial settings.
Multiple mms on initial settings works. have sent 4 different pictures to multiple numbers. all confirmed working.
just tried it to no avail, running nrg's glass wm, 2.12 radio and dan's froyo v1 with the latest zimage.
how long are you guys letting it run for before deleting the message?
I can confirm these settings work for US T-Mobile just sent one to myself

15 min... also if you long press one the sending picture and go to details the size is only 1KB
Now we need to fix the sending size, the pic I sent got so degraded an only 14k from a 250k pic

Got it to send one MMS to myself. It took about 15 minutes. Had to disable WiFi. Can't get any more to send.

i can receive them now, which i couldn't consistently before. still no luck getting them out however.
i should add that it shows the correct file size when i send it as far as i know, none of them have popped up as being 1kb.
If the message details show 1kb you have not sent a message out
working diligently right now.
I beginning to think Miri's ROM is the factor that is allow those to be able to send. Cause i sent 3, and not a single one worked for over 15 min had the logo, wifi, no wifi, and different radios.
Tried 2 other roms and 2 other android builds per winmo rom. nothing worked.
Did not try experimenting with radio tonight but after all was said and done. went back to the first setup ( Android; Shub / Miri 17.6
ok... something really weird is going on. With different builds i sent all different pictures of random items ( lighters, coins, water bottles ). now those builds that failed my testing were all taken off. SD card was formated between builds. I ended up going back to the setup I had when i started this thread, because it works.
Now i have the people who's picture i sent randomly saying that they are getting their pictures. 3 different pictures and people. Keep in mind that this is AFTER I formatted and went back to the working setup. so i didnt have the same pictures on the sd card.
Thoughts?
I think the problem is the windows rom. I tried many different android builds none of them allowed me to send mms. I was only able to receive them.

Does MMS work on hd2 with android froyo?

hello all
i recently changed from the windows os to the android os on my T-mobile US Htc HD2.
i need help with one minor problem i have been having; i cannot send or recieve mms while on android on the HD2.
i am running the android froyo 2.2 by dan1j3l (or however its spelled ) and i have had no problems at all, except this. Oh, and i noticed that the volume(sound:ringtones, speakerphone in calls..) is lower than when running windows mobile. but to make things clear, i do have sound on my HD2 when on android froyo.
those are the only two minor problems i have had on the phone.
please help me
im not sure what other information may be needed in order to help me solve my problem, but it would be much appreciated!
thank you,
Vic_Gar
most everyone IS having trouble with the mms... i can recieve as i've heard others can as well but few can send. it's being worked on.
As for sound, it's the same thing... i think i read a few builds have improved sound quality but i'm not sure which... just gotta keep trying em all out, that's what i did.
I am also having this problem hopefully the devs will fix this..its been a month since i could send or recieve MMS
oo and im running froyostone rom
add me to the list.
although...i did have it working for a bit, using the settings where the proxy was set up in the default apn as well as the mmsc field. but it was SLOOOOOOOW (like 10 mins) to send an MMS. I messed with it (of course) now it won't send at all.
I can't find where I saw it but as far as low volume goes you need to max the volume in Windows before booting Android. As android basically runs like an app initially the WM volume setting is applied to it. Hope that helps.
ok, mms is working again.
it's still really slow though. This is my setup. What's a bit different from what I've seen is the combo of filling out the default prox/port and the apn type. I think most of what i've seen suggests filling one or the other.

I had this issue before myself when I first installed Froyo. What I did:
Before booting into Android, I made a call and hit Speaker, then raised the Call Volume all the way. I then turned off Speaker and raised the Call Volume again. I also double-checked the "Sounds" settings and made sure everything was set to "Normal".
I no longer have issues with the sound.
Hope this helps!
I can send and reciece MMS in Android
Im running Htcclay's SuperHD2 on mine and the only thing that acts up is if i use Chomp SMS. When that preview popup comes up with the text, when i reply it doesnt send. Everything works fine if i open the text and send a sms/mms
I have better luck sending and receiving mms using RMNET rather than ppp. It is very slow to send though...
I tried xjjk settings and, they did work for me. I don't have the MMS Protocol setting. Mine is not slow either.
So far this is working for me.
I'm using Darkstone HD2Froyo V3
There is a mdeejay build revolution 1.5. It has a link to mms fix for t-mobile us.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
thanks!
this worked perfectly!

How'd you get it to start working?
While booted in android goto settings, wireless controls, mobile networks, access point names, press menu and select new apn, enter the above settings, press menu save. Go back into apn and select your apn you created.

I tried to use the settings, however I can not select WAP 2.0 I'm using nand cyanogen 2.1 build.. I get the little 3G symbol then all of a sudden it tells me "unsuccessful"
settings
yes follow the directions to add the MMS settings on your phone. everything will work after you install but with Android on your Micro SD card remember to reboot after the first boot. then everything should work.
once i got the settings right everything was working fine recv and sending MMS

Those are one of the two most common TMOUS "working" settings I've seen floating around on the forums, and I highly believe that the settings depend on your plan, location, or some other vague difference. Also, some mention setting the proxy screws up their https sessions. The other version is:
APN: epc.tmobile.com
Proxy: <not set>
Port: <not set>
Username: <not set>
Password: <not set>
Server: <not set>
MMSC: http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms
MMS Proxy: 216.155.165.50
MMS Port: 8080
MMS Protocol: WAP 2.0
MCC: 310
MNC: 260
APN Type:default,supl,mms
There's a few TMOUS MMS threads floating around that might have other settings as well. Try one of the two above & see what works for you.
Also, I found I can't send MMS to a friend of mine, and after some troubleshooting, found that it's our phones sending too big of pics for her phone (on AT&T) to receive. I installed an app on an earlier build (that I can't remember name of) that pre-shrunk pics before sending, which then worked fine. So, when testing, check to see if it's your phone not sending, or just theirs not receiving.
This fixed my issue! yay! Thanks you!

I found the PERFECT Internet and MMS Settings for HD2 Android Web2go!!!!

I've been trying for days to get this to work, I would get MMS to send but no internet and wont be able to download an MMS. I would be able to send an MMS but my number would come up as someone different. I haven't found a working config online for the Android Builds on MMS so I hope this helps everyone. it doesnt lift the 300kb limit, but I'm just freaking excited it works.
Go to Settings >> Wireless & Networks >> Mobile Networks >> Access Point Names >> then create a new APN with these settings
Name: T-Mobile
APN: internet2.voicestream.com
Proxy: 216.165.155.050
Port: 8080
Username: not set
Password: not set

MMS Protocol: Wap 2.0
MCC: 310
MNC: 260

I hope this helps anyone that has been trying to use web2go on there HD2 Android builds!!! And I also hope this isn't a repost because I'd be highly upset because I couldnt find the configuration anywhere! Enjoy and please let me know if it works for you guys!
Using a proxy(not the mms proxy the other one), I was unable to access secure sites in the browser.

On my pictures, it always says "Generic Network Failure"
I am using the settings quoted. and i have their unlimited Data Plan. I have full Internet, Texting, and calling. But no PICTURE messaging. Thanks!
wow, I owe you a lunch for these. I can't believe I didn't try using the internet2 server for the mms server before. Thanks so much!!! I removed the proxy and it still works! I received the mms in about 4 seconds. Nothing else has worked and I've tried for hours and hours and almost gave up.
okay, only half working. I can send fast now, but can't receive anymore. It worked once then dead. I'll keep trying, but at least I'm closer.
Here's a more complicated, but maybe more effective method. I figured it out after trying several other methods to lesser and greater extents. This works for me but it may not work for you.

Wait at least a minute. I'm using Handcent. You should see your connection disappear when you try to send as it switches over to epc.tmobile.com from internet2. I am getting 3-8 second sends at 100kb with similar receive times.
I think the trick is to do this and wait about 2-3 minutes. At first I had problems with the browser. It told me that I needed to upgrade to get internet access. But after about 3 minutes it started working.
let's see. trying again...
picture sent in 8 seconds
received in 5 seconds. 83kb
world of frustration is over for now

glad it worked for you. I'm still only getting success about 60% of the time, but it's the best I've had.
btw, if you said thanks, hit the thanks button too. It's a great way to help us know who is here to help each other and who's just looking for handouts.

Cannot get MMS working on AT&T...

I recently revamped my HD2 from the stock Coutella Sense release of Android on NAND. A few weeks ago I reflashed to a CM7 Android Rom and changed my Bootloader to CLK, installed CWM and changed my splash screen as well. Now, I tried for about 4 days now to configure my MMS settings. I got them working when I had my previous rom but I cannot for the life of me to get them even though I googled and googled and re-entered my MMS setting into my phone over and over.
It just doesn't want to send. I try to send one and it just stays stuck on sending and do not see any little icon on the top of the status bar of my phone indicating that it is sending. I have come to the conclusion, that maybe CLK is to blame since it does not have RMNET. Can this be the case? Or can anyone help me with this problem?
My settings are as follows:
Name: ATT
APN: wap.cingular
Proxy: <Not set>
Port: <Not set>
Username: [email protected]
Password: CINGULAR1
Server: <Not set>
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com/
MMS proxy: wireless.cingular.com
MMS port: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
Authentication type: None
APN type: <Not set>
Install a rom that your MMS does work on then go and copy the APN settings and then use them on your new rom.
I really do not want to jump ship and jump from rom to rom testing settings. I mean, these settings can only work one way. I'd like some more light to be shed on this before I jump ship and go into another rom and lose all my configs from this one.
Anyone got any ideas? Did anyone have any success getting MMS to work on CLK?
