i know right
Maybe 3 or 4 towers covering highway 87 from southside to around Taylor. Can wait till it gets to my house. I also see it coming down 280 to saratoga....
San Leandro
I've had 4G in parts of San Leandro near Bay Fair Bart, while on Hesperian toward E14th.
After haggling service with a Sprint rep the other day, they disclosed that San Leandro has two towers that are being set up and expected to be fully operational by October of 2010. - That probably means next year
Nevertheless, I can get a single bar of 4G in my bedroom and that gives me at least 4-5mb down and about 1.5mb up.
I stopped at Taco Bell in North Olmsted today and noticed I had 4G service. I had a fair signal all along Lorain RD and as far north as Rose RD. Please let me know if anyone else in the Cleveland area is getting a 4G signal.

I live in the same neighbor hood as you and I'm getting 4g as we speak. Petty cool. The only problem is I can't run cyanogen's rom anymore if I want to use 4g. Bummer.
CM6 / Snap Powered
I live on the east side and nothing over here yet. Does anyone know how large the coverage area will be?
I also got a 4G signal in Valley View on my way to work this morning also. I did a couple of speed tests and here are the results:
Valley View (Valley View Bridge) : 7963 kbps download, 1011 kbps upload
North Olmsted (Great Northern Mall) : 8647 kbps download, 974 kbps upload
I am in Bedford Heights and not picking up any 4g signal.

Eventually it should cover the whole cleveland area....this morning I got 10.5mbps! Northolmsted.
CM6 / Snap Powered
Stupid question, but how do you know when you are getting a 4G signal?
Does the "3G" in the status bar change to "4G"?
Select menu, next select settings, then select wireless and networks. Check the option to turn on 4g, then select manage 4g settings. Select notify me when 4g is available. That will set the phone to constantly scan for 4g.when it picks up 4g there will be a notification on the top status bar.then it should automatically connect and show a 4g icon up top.

Getting close to me.. I'm 30 minutes north of dayton though.

FYI
"Clearwire said customers may begin to find WiMAX coverage in portions of San Francisco; Tampa, Miami, and Orlando, Fla.; Nashville; Denver; Minneapolis; Cincinnati; Cleveland; and Pittsburgh ahead of official market launches in those cities. However, the carrier has not yet begun to market the offering in those areas." via rcrwireless
I just realized its up in Cleveland too. Got a good signal in Westlake and Bay Village. Check out the app Sensorly in the market, it will show you if and where there is 4G in your area. That's how I found it in Cleveland.

Anyone getting 4G in San Francisco? I can't connect in North Beach, Fisherman's Wharf, or SOMA. I also tried unsuccessfully to connect in Richmond, San Mateo, and Mountain View.
I definitely have coverage per Sprint's 4G map:
http://coverage.sprint.com/IMPACT.j...TNAV=4G:20100602:WelcometoFastLane:CvgDetails
Yupperrs .. jus tested it today @ union square & it flies!! It's also in Oakland & Emeryville, but not in Richmond yet. Which sux bcuz I live out that way.. You can check Sprint's website and they have a map of the coverage areas in the bay area.

If you have 4G coverage in SF, can you confirm the neighborhood that you are getting 4G coverage in?
OK, according to the map, there is definitely 4G coverage in North Beach. How do I troubleshoot my phone if I can't get 4G to connect?

I get coverage at my work on Geary off Union Square. 5mb down and 1.5 up on average.

maybe its broken
sounds like ur 4g is broken
There is an app on the market called 4G,CDMA,GSM & WiFi Map Viewer (just search 4G Map), and it'll provide you with a user created map overlay showing all the 4g towers/3g towers for every carrier etc.
I got 4G while in Emeryville, Oakland, and coming into SF on the 580. Didn't get a chance to use it very much though!
So if I suspect that my 4g is "broken", how do I troubleshoot this?
Flash back to stock and go from there.
I'm more curious to know if there are debug options that I can turn on so I can see some diagnostics in adb logcat.
Someone asked about 4G speeds over the weekend. I could't find the thread, so I'll post them up here.
I live on the south side of Kansas City and at my house I pull between 3 and 5.5 Meg down pretty consistently.
At my dentist's office today I pulled between 2 and 3.5 on several attempts.
My upload speeds have been consistently between 850k and 1.5 Meg.
I'm looking forward to testing at my buddies house. We were able to obtain dl's over 8 last time I was there messing with his Evo.

Did a couple of test today. 5500 kbps at one point this morning. 9500ish around noon. 1000-1100 kbps up.
These were in LA.
This morning I got 5500 kbps down and 1100 up in Alexandria VA.

I would say that's in NY. I'm pretty certain there's no 4G in Rochester, MN.
I'm heading up to the Twin Cities tomorrow, so I'll have to try out the 4G and see what kind of speeds I get
I hit 10.28 dl and .99 ul in Orange County today with full 4G bars.

+1. Sprinkle some of that 4G over Northern San Diego/La Jolla too. UCSD needs some 4G lovin (;
Guys, check out the Map Viewer app for an unofficial coverage map. Works great!
I found this great Android app '4G,CDMA,GSM & WiFi Map Viewer' on AppBrain: http://www.appbrain.com/app/com.sensorly.viewer
Shifted from my Evo using XDA app.
Western Chicago Suburbs here (Higgins corridor and north of Elgin on Fox River).
I drove around last weekend and monitored the 4G.
I'm mostly seeing 3-5 M upload and .5-1.5 M uploads (early Saturday morning)
Closer to noon I saw rates drop to 1-3 M uploads. I was driving in some pretty out of the way places and saw fairly good 4G coverage.
I was on I290 the other day and got one hit at 12 Mega (!). Just saw it once
and have not been able to re-create it.
My guess is the closer to Chicago you get, the higher rates you'll get.
Anybody have an idea if Sprint is reducing bandwidth when their network gets busy?
I've got the sensorly app, one of the better ones.
I'm hoping "Open Signal Maps" gets their act together because it is actually
trying to locate the towers on a central map.
Somehow I've managed to buy a house right in the middle of a group of towers
so that I only get 1 bar of 4G upstairs (3G only downstairs). Once I get on the road
I get good 4G coverage (2-4 bars)
4G speeds in shawnee ks suck but they are better than the 3 G ones lol
I usually see speeds between 6-8meg up in Cleveland. I use the Chicago server to test with.
4G is now in Toledo! Hopefully soon they expand to the surrounding suburbs.

Excellent glad to hear it, welcome to 4G.
I live in Clyde, about 40 mins away. I am pumped to try this out. Where exactly in Toledo have you experienced this? I know that in Columbus, 4g was only available near Polaris. I really hope 4g makes it way east to me, even if it does suck my battery more than one of those pale, glittery vampires from Twilight.
Ok, where is a cool place in the 4g coverage area I can go to hang out for a while and test the 4g on my phone? I'm SE Michigan and Toledo is the closest I have to a place with 4g, and I am starting to become obsessed with testing it out
Looking for something off 75 before the 475 interchange where I can occupy myself for a couple hours to test it out
4g in Youngstown Ohio
4g is now live in Youngstown Ohio. Anybody else notice?
Its live in downtown I believe. Check clearwire's map tho to be sure. Watch a Walleyes game or go to the restaurants that aren't closed yet on the docks.

Im originally from toledo and coverage actually looks spotty downtown by the water. If I were you id start at westfield shopping town off 475/talmadge even if the map doesn't show it there, and proceed with caution as you travel toward downtown on monroe, maybe try again near westgate mall ( best buy monroe/secor or sears or home depot by central/secor) but lock your doors if you end up near monroe and detroit

Actually just south of homewood and hillcrest is willys park which might be best for you, right off I-75 and wide open area in the center of coverage, and a safe area compared to a lot of the coverage area.
Or, maybe the toledo hospital in case you get shot (kidding).
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
If I remember correctly its all based around the new arenas which would be smart.
Edit: Looking at the map right now, it seems that spans from Dorr Street to as far north as Eleanor but coverage is sparse. It does seem to be around the new arenas though Right around Michigan Street and Erie Street. Most of Bancroft and Monroe is covered downtown. As is Detroit. Maybe I'll have to flash over to CM 6.2.1 Alpha and test it out when I go to another Walleye game.
Edit 2: Looks like only the Huntington Center is covered. Fifth Third is just out of range. At least thats what the map says.
Sent from my Evo powered by MIUI
I was able to pick up the signal on my commute to work going 475 east to 75 south. I connected to Sprint's 4G somewhere between the Detroit Ave exit and the Collingwood exit, with 1 or 2 bars as I headed downtown. Once downtown on Washington Ave, my signal fluctuated between 0 and 1 bar, and was basically lost once I got to Summit St.

I can confirm 4g in Toledo. I work near Dura and N. Detroit Ave and got 4g Connection.
Where are you guys getting the map from? Sprints site?
I live near Central/Douglas, and no 4g here yet. I'm surprised its working downtown, as Toledo wasn't supposed to get it til late this year. Maybe they are just testing it.

Check the clear.com coverage map since that is the same as sprint wimax. You might have to zoom in to the right level and wait for the green transparent overlay to load.

I cannot believe that Sprint puts 4G service in a run down town like Toledo and Phoenix still hasn't had 4G turned on yet.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
I was also wondering what map you were looking at, thanks for that. I went ahead and downloaded their "Got Clear?" App from the market.
There's a wider range than I anticipated. Of course my house is just out of range, but what I experienced this morning on my way into the office seems to correspond with the map coverage.
