Titainiam backup

Im using Titainiam backup (free version), is there anyway to back up all apps/SMS/contacts/other data with just 1 click? From what I can find you have to select each 1 seperatly?

About...3 clicks. Menu -> Batch and from there select the one that fits your needs the best.
Quick question re Titanium Backup.... It says it needs "ROOT", does this mean it will not work with a non-rooted system??
I'm using the standard Orange, non-messed with Android (which I'm quite happy with), can I still use Titanium Backup?
you need root access...

Ok, so could anyone recommend a backup for apps/data (with the hopefully upcoming Gingerbread update in mind), that doesn't need root?

You can try Mybackup Pro
The problem with non-root backups is they can't backup everything.
If you don't want to root, then you will probably not be able to backup your apps+data.
Hello, sprite backup ( latest version compatible with Gingerbreak ) save and restore contacts, calendar ... even if you have an unrooted phone ( mine is unrooted and i've restored contacts successfully ) .

Do you what they won't backup?
TBH, Data I'm not so worried about (everything is backed up to the google account online anyway), it's the apps that I've downloaded and paid for that I don't want to lose.
GoSMS Pro will do this for you. I mnow it is a whole seperate SMS app, but it is a guaranteed way for it to work, and doesn't take long. And you might find you like it for SMS anyway

You [will] would not lose anything, they are always available for re-download on the Market or the AppBrain Android Market, unless you use their remove option to remove them from either of your lists of Apps.

What is stuck in root?
When ever a App tries to gain Root Access for the first time Superuser will appear on your screen and Ask if you what to give the App Root Permission or not, and whether to remember the permissions that are given [the default is remember].

True.
ok, cheers.
Mind you - it's all academic anyway because I have no idea when (or even if) I'll be getting the update. Still seem to be stuck on 1.84.61.2 (as far as I can see). Orange aren't known for their speed on software upgrades.

You sure about that? I am sure google only keeps a copy (id) of what you have downloaded, but not the data within the app. So for example you bought a game, google will know you have bought the game so you can download it, but the data on the game will be lost, i.e. high scores etc...
And also, what about data from apps that you have not use a store, i.e. you used an installer to install it, the data will be lost for that app.
MyBackup Pro is good, but it can't backup the data within the apps (unroot) and that is the problem because of google security.
yes i know that but the superuser app dont appear for me i dont know why?and its just for this app.all other apps appear for me and there is no problem.when i start the app its i get trying to gain root access and the superuser app dont appear???
so this is a no go then

Yes I am sure of what I wrote, I did not say anything about data being stored.
I do not know about what MyBackUp can and can not do.
Titanium BackUp can back up all Apps and Data. [data can not be restore to a different Rom though]

Do you a CWM installed, if so you could try booting in to recovery, and use the fix permissions to see if it helps to clear the problem with SU.

[Q] Switching master google account?

I got my girl a Shift on my plan. I wanted to surprise her and have it all setup...rooted with free wifi tether then give it to her. So, I had to enter a google account so I could access the market. I entered mine, thinking I could pull it back out and put hers in when she created one (she's a yahoo user). I added hers, but it says you can't delete the main one. without doing an erase Not that I care if she has all my contacts and info...but she wants her own stuff. i really don't want to totally wipe the phone and have to re-root it and redo the aps. Help?
Thanks!

Backup your apps with Ti Backup, do a reset (you don't need to un-root to do that), and win.

Oh...the only app I've added is wifi tether, so that's not a big deal to put back on...I was worried about re-rooting. I'm a total n00b. So...how to I reset it? lol
Also, that backup app...is that something I can get in the market?

Do you have Clockwork Mod Recovery installed via ROM Manager?
Also the app I referenced is actually called "Titanium Backup" - link here - https://market.android.com/details?id=com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup&feature=search_result
What ROM are you running? Did you do perm root? Resetting factory data shouldn't lose root if you perm rooted it.
Are you running clockwork recovery?
Anyways check this link. 2 methods. Hope this helps.
fanofandroid.com/2011/04/how-to-factory-reset-htc-evo-shift-4g.html
is it possible to switch the accounts around without doing a reset? I'm sure she could do the reset, but if anything goes wrong, like it needing to be re-rooted...she is NOT capable of that. The reason i'm asking is my girl is 3 hours away and I'd like to port over her number before the wekend but don't want her stuck witghout her contacts. And she has MY contacts right now.
if you're perm rooted (not temp), then you do not have to "re-root". just go into Settings>SD & Phone Storage & hit Factory reset. the only thing you're gonna lose are your apps and contacts.
then when its done. she puts in her own gmail account, and her own contacts... redownload the one app you put in and you're done.

best way to backup phone for rom swap?

i'm really getting tired of redoing my info every time i try a new rom... i know froyo is supposed to be able to back up user info but it seems we dont' get that option from sammy. i always back up my apps with titanium but what about the contact list, phone settings, passwords, bookmarks, etc... something that would transfer between roms
mybackup root.
Umm...nandroid? Do a backup and flash rom, then do a selective restore and only restore data. works everytime for me except when downgrading gingerbread back to froyo. Other than that I occasionally use mybackup root

+This, and I suggest not to move any apps you download to system/app, or else you'll have to restore system to get those back, and it causes problems.

No but just keep a copy on your sd card. It's the one exception.
I know its a pain but a fresh Install us always the best. I use an app called "appbak" and its so easy. U backup your apps and its just like a text file. Then u restore them and it gives you all your Apps in a list. U for down the list one by one and when you click on the app it will take u directly to that app in the market. Then u just download it. Its pretty fast and it gives u a fresh Install. Then ill use titanium to restore some data for some if my apps.

i do that with titanium.. i long click the app and press go to market. then i download it from there. installing apps from titanium always seems to lock up. its really the phone settings and addressbook that i'm interested in at this point. i'm sick of adding my accounts, deleting unwanted contacts, changing notifications settings etc, etc

I haven't found a good way around having to enter my gmail account info each time (especially since I've been going back and forth between froyo and GB roms so nandroid backup isn't a good option) but I do keep my contacts organized in gmail, not on the phone, so whenever I do flash a new rom, it just automatically syncs the contacts and I never have to worry about them.
Titanium backup is the best for me.

My Backup wouldn't restore the last backup I made with it, even though the files on the SDcard were fine.
I've switched to Titanium root and it's been reliable so far.
titanium backup pro works. It might restore some older not needed apps but you can take them out later. You can take out any app or info even system apps, info, data.

My Backup has never successfully restored anything for me. Titanium has been perfect and I've been using it since I got this phone nearly a year ago, though it doesn't do SMS so I also use SMS Backup & Restore, a little freebie from the market which so far has worked well (though I've only tried it a few times).
I agree, Titanium Pro works great. I too also use SMS Backup & Restore for text messages.
Clockwork Mod does all that and then some. Just do a backup in clockwork, install new rom, go back into clockwork/backup&restore/ advanced restore/ and restore data only. It will restore all contacts/texts/picture mail/logins/passwords/apps+app data, etc, all data that doesnt interfere with the new rom.

hey i used titanium backup to backup all my apps while im waiting for x10a global generic. i've never restored from titanium backup before. how does it work? does it just create a log file for you to automatically redownload everything on the market or does it actually store everything locally and restore them that way once i reinstall titanium after the new flash? i ask because many applications have many settings and saved information. like password keeper, i'd like to know if i need to write all those down in the event that i will be redownloading the program all over again, thanks.

It stores apks and its data locally, in your SD card so, no you won't need to download your apps again.

Is password keeper an app? If so, I believe it may. However, I cannot confirm for I have not tried it. Application settings, saved games, yes. But be reminded depending on the different roms you switch, the application data may result error with the app, which is why sometimes I only restore the app when that happens. Or you can make an extra backup with MyBackup Pro, just to be on the safe side.
I use keeper and Titanium restored it with all my passwords between my firmware upgrades and wipes. However I am with x10a and I am afraid of what it will occur with 2.1 to 2.3.

Why not just use Titanium Backup to backup your apps and not redownload them through Google sync.

I do use Titanium back up also. Maybe I will somehow start fresh with Titanium also. I believe they are saved there also.
I found an option to delete all back-up for uninstalled apps in Titanium. Maybe that will help. I wish I could do that with google sync.
Why not back up the uninstalled apps, well all apps really, to your Extsdcard or Pc. Then if you change your mind and want to try them out again you don't have to redownload and set them up again, just install app and data from your backup.
That way your not eating up data downloading apps you already have.
Just a thought.
