Buying Galaxy S in London, please advise - Galaxy S I9000 General

Hello, I am in London now and I would like to buy Samsung Galaxy S (off contract) but I'm not sure where it would be better to do it. Moreover I really need a case which covers back but not the screen to make it less iPhonish and less plastic feeling. Could you, guys, please, advise me something? I was going to buy Captivate in the USA but I'm not sure if it'll be unlocked until I leave it at the end of this summer. Thanks for attention.

Are o2 still doing the deal for around 430 unlocked? Also I'm after a decent case too!

CPWH (Carphonewherehouse) sim free £410 that's with a £10 credit top up.
As for the O2 deal I read it was £330 sim free these are the 8GB handsets by the way..

Got mine from o2 on pay as you go for £329.99 with £10 top up. It is the 8gig model but comes with a 8gig class 6 micro sd card in the box. Was unlocked.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App

I got one on the o2 deal. Didn't see it mentioned in the shop anywhere. Asked about it and the scanned the box and sure enough £319.99 + 10 for a topup.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App

Got the unlocked phone from O2 as well. £319.99 for the 8GB version that comes with an 8GB Class 6 card, which does make a difference if you're the type who tends to changes stuff on the phone a lot.

there was a deal online for O2 18mts contact phone free 100mins p/m @£20 p/m... (£360)
google for samsung galaxy s deals....can't remember which site it was sorry.
found it just amend adrress

Best website to buy a SD card ?

Hi!,
Can someone tell the best website to buy a Sd card ?
Should be 512 mb or greater, and have a good response in velocity
It's to be used in a Qtek S100/Magitian
Im' from Portugal, so shipment costs are relevant
Thanks in advance
Best Regards,
Miguel Cunha
You can have a look at this site:
http://www.tweakers.net/pricewatch/cat/48/top
It is a dutch pricewatch with many dutch shops, but also many internet shops.
I bought my high-speed 1GB SD card from Amazon.co.uk and it cost £63, which is equivalent to about €90. The brand is Bytestor and it works perfectly so far.
On Ebay...Guy in new york sells 1gig sd for about £38 and £9ish to ship.
Takes 3 - 5 days and fully guaranteed
bakerk ...
How much in USD or EUR ? I'm from Portugal, so.. maybe that person doesn't ship to portugal ... i have to look better in ebay...
Thanks
I'd recommend that you are very careful about buying on eBay...
I bought my first 1GB SD card from a person on eBay. The card he sent from the US was NOT the same as the card he was advertising on eBay. He claims it was the same but the speed rating was different. Customer service was non-existant and he didn't care that he sent me a different card brand. His card took 4 weeks to arrive.
This is why my second purchase was from Amazon. It was slightly more expensive but it was much quicker and I knew it was going to be correct.
Maybe I was unlucky with eBay but the very cheapest isn't always the best. :?
Good luck
Where to Get 1 GB SD Cards for Cheap...

Last I checked the first had a 1 GB Card for $57.00 Dollars, that is after the $20.00 rebate had been applied.
They also had a few for $6x.xx and $7x.xx, so check it out.
Plus they all come with warranties and from a company you can trust...!
They also have a 2 GB SD Card for abou $175.00, for those that always want more!!!

This is NOT the guy I had problems with. (My guy was called Sarafatl.)
However, the guy I used had a feedback rating of 99.7% from over 100,000 trades. I thought I'd be safe. Two weeks after I received my card he disappeared from eBay. User account closed.
Compared with trading with someone like Amazon, who have a reputation to protect, eBay may be slightly cheaper but not cheap enough to compensate for the worry of using someone completely unknown, IMHO.
I ordered from sarafatl because he was selling the specific brand of card that someone in these forums had recommended (Kingmax) but that wasn't the brand of card I received. He said he'd run out of stock. I have no idea whether the card he sent was as good as the (recommended) Kingmax.
Bought mine off ebay. Lexar 1 GB, paid $65 including shipping to Norway from the US.
Always had good experience shopping off ebay, as long as you stick to the power sellers you should be ok...

UK - Streak Sim Free £199 at Tesco Direct

Just a heads up for anyone thinking about getting a Streak in the UK
Tesco Direct are selling them for £199 at the moment (sim free no contract any network)
LINK BELOW
http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.210-6015.aspx
I dont know whether to buy one are these better than the galaxy tab what size are they too
Smaller than the tab, these are 5" tab is 7"
I had one when they first came out, £450 and locked ot O2, took it back as did not like the service at the time or andriod 1.6 but at £199 giving it a punt, and at least with Tesco 28 days to take it back if you dont like it!
no questions asked yeah. I was glad o2 done that with the galaxy tab I pointed out the flaws in store they tryied to blame it on the demo unit then prooved them wrong bringing it back does tesco sell these in store as I'll pick one up evan just to test it to see if I like it
Sorry chaps, all sold out. I pondered a bit too long as to whether I should have one as a spare and got rejected at check out.
Thanks to @flashyphotos for the heads up though.

XPeria Play £150 on O2 (UK)

Not sure if anyone's mentioned, O2 are selling XPeria Play in the UK for £150 on a PAYG...
I don't want to change to O2, i'm happy with TMob/Orange network share, but I wouldn't mind this phone.
Anyone know if they are SIM-Free, branded and if so how easy they are to unlock/debrand?
Anyone know of any better deals?
Locked to O2 and no branding - only thing O2 i found was the internet settings/bookmarks installed - although these could've come form the o2 sim card i inserted when i bought the phone (not sure).
Chitter chatter deal is better. T-mobile but unlocked and unbranded. New stock should go live later in the week.
Consider that unlocking the bootloader (which unlocks sim too) costs about 18 pounds, SIM-free phones are not that valuable anymore. Just buy a SIM-locked one and unlock the bootloader with Alejandrissimo's help, or someone else's, and you'll have a SIM-unlocked, flashable phone for 168 pounds.

Unlocking your bootloader with Alejandrissimo's method takes no more than twenty minutes, and his unlocking method doesn't break OTA updates nor DRM certificates.
Aww I paid £400 for mine in Littlewoods.
Just got one of these today, anyone give any help unlocking so it can be rooted ? Thanks

Take your finger out of your arse, give it a good lick and dig deeper the next time.
My local Argos was also out of stock. You need to ask them where their nearest store which stocks it is and you have to reserve the phone, which means that you are guaranteed for the phone.
Thinking of buying one of these from O2 and using it with my GiffGaff sim
I am not that interested in using it for games, but the other specifications look impressive, especially the large screen.
So can anyone tell me what they think of the Play just as a phone. Is it too bulky? What is the signal like?
Thanks
