When my battery goes bellow 10%, I can't listen to my music or the radio. Is there anyway to bypass this?
I'm looking for something like that I want to be able to use all my battery if I want to !!!!
I aagree. If I have 10% and want to burn it on music I should be able to.

And video too
I posted the same thing a while back...somewhere.
Was told that it was to protect the SD card from becoming corrupted if it turned itself off whilst playing music/video from said card.
Whether that is true or not I dont know...but, that is only with the stock music/video players.Download a 3rd party app and you can carry on playing below 10%.

Seconded, I use spotify as the music player and when i get below 10% I usually chill with some music until it becomes quiet and it's time to recharge.

Knowing that on the iPhone (never had one, definitely never wanted one) you can listen to music and battery holds it REALLY well. What about the nexus? I'm thinking about upgrading my SD card for it to hold some music and use it as music player. Will it drain the battery?
I had a few problems with battery draining/kernels but before that and now that I've got it sorted again I can easily get 8 hours of solid music playback and texting before the battery needs charging.
I can stream music over wifi for hours at at time not to mention the stock music player. this is all while still looking around on the internet at work and such.
It seems like bluetooth, music and wifi don't affect the phone at all really when it comes to battery life for me.

On phonearena.com it says that music playback time will be 20 hours, but who knows if that's true. I just got mine yesterday and I love it.
Here's the page

I seem to get about 8hr's plus listening to music.
Music bearly has a drain on my battery.
Thanks for all of your responses! It's great to hear such good news.
So, What music app do you use?

HTC Music App.
Whenever im using the htc music player my battery drains around 1% a song. Anyone know any ways around this? thanks.
Depending on the average length of a song this would make about 14-15% per hour. Pretty much what I get. I think that's too much for such a basic functionality which my old Nokia handsets did with just a fraction of that batterydrainage speed and on smaller batteries. But I fear that's what we're stuck with here...
thats why im using another mp3 player^.^
and if the other player got no battery.. i still have two hd2 batteries xD..
sadly, the battery drain is normal
i've been using the LeoCpuSpeed v3, and i'm frequently underclocking my device to 384 MHz when playing music. I haven't done any tests but the battery lasts much longer, it would be interesting to see how much clock speeds affect battery life
speakers or earphones? did u try any other player?

i mean, im using a whole other device(Cowon S9, if u want to know wich), not my hd2 to listen to music..^.^
You could try Nitrogen instead of HTC Music as it is supposed to be less resource intensive and I guess that will lower battery usage. I haven't tried on HD2 yet, I used it on my Diamond. Maybe combine it with the CPU underclocking.
I am new to the epic, only have had about 2 weeks, and I bought an extended battery 3300 MAh, and was trying to watch a video on my epic last night. It was all good and fine until my battery life went to 15%..from that point the video player closed and every time I just hit the movie I was trying to play, it would say low battery and wouldn'e even try to open a player. I tried rebooting to see if that worked and it did not. I still had like 4-5hours after that screen came up until my battery actually died. So what can I do to stop this from happening. I still have the original rom (froyo 2.1), and am still looking for the froyo version I want from xda. PLEASE HELP ME...THIS IS VERY FRUSTRATING!!!! THANKS FOR ANY BIT OF INFO YOU CAN SEND MY WAY!!!!!
As far as I know no one has found a way to stop this nonsense from happening. Not sure if developers have even tried though.
Its not just video either. Camera and music also have these limitations.
I thought the phone automatically shuts off too once you get down to 10%. It's of course a built feature designed to keep the battery from getting completely drained. That can severely shorten the lifespan of lithium ion batteries.you probably don't want to deactivate that feature
I definitely wanna activate that feature. Its annoying if I'm watching a movie and it cuts off cuz its at 15 percent. 15 percent takes a long time to use. The hero first had this limitation when it came out but its since been removed.
I want the power to run my battery down to 0 how ever I want

I can recall someone had a patch/kernel that disable the 15% cutoff limit....just need to search for the thread.
If you use an aftermarket video player or camera it won't do that. I use MvideoPlayer and Vignette.
I think the baked snack rom/kernel disables it... Could be wrong. I thought I read it in the description a while back when I flashed it.

There are no cutom kernels for froyo, because there is no source
Yeah you guys are right about 2.2 and no kernels... I failed to read what was in parentheses in the op. I just read "stock rom". Anyway, I went back and read baked snack features and it only removes the limitation of not being able to take pics or video below a certain battery percentage. Hope you find a work around for this limitation!

So I see some people on here getting 9+ hours of screen on time on here. That is AMAZING. I know basically everything has to do the user. But I have attached some screenshots with about 30% battery left. I was wondering if anybody could help me out. Or any out of the ordinary tips.
it looks like you're using your phone a lot, and should get over 4 hours of screen on time. Perhaps you can reduce your screen brightness or something, turn off GPS, location reporting etc.
BTW, theres no way anyone would get 9 hours screen on time on a note 3, with reasonable screen brightness. I average 5 hours, less if I'm using more system taxing apps.
I assume if your on xda your rooted. My saving grace is under clocking. I use my tablet for gaming but I have about an two hours of screen on time, four hours of talk time and about an hour of maps and I'm currently sitting at 73%. Also if you don't want to run a custom rom freeze everything you'll never use and greenify everything keeping your phone awake. With light usage I can get 4 days on a charge. As soon as I get money in going to get the 10 mha battery. There is a review on xda where the guy could get 2 days of screen on time and like a day and a half of gps/map usage.

I would start with quick things to check....disable GPS/location settings, disable Sync altogether(via status bar toggle) if you don't mind not getting your Twitter updates(see it's using 3% of battery in your screenshot), disable NFC if it's on, turn off WiFi and Bluetooth when not connected
Also check out your RED mobile data signal in your screenshot and see if you can fix that, "signal hunting" when your phone doesn't have a good data signal really hurts battery life greatly
Next I would install an app like Wakelock Detector, open it, and change the view to "Wakeup Triggers" and after your phone has lots of time with the screen off, come back to it and see what's causing your phone to "wake up" when it's trying to "sleep" when screen=off

What do you suggest I under clock to? And what app to do so? Also what about I/o schedulers and governor. And by under clocking you mean lowering the max could rate right? Or the min too.
Here are a few screenshots on my wakelocks after about 10 min.

Wow Kik caused 4523 triggers in just 4 hours lmao, and switch that view to "wakeup triggers" is how i gauge it better, but with the view that you're on there...you can tap the name of the app for more info on what it's doing exactly like "Alarmmanager" or w/e the app is doing
Edit: also ditch Google Music if you play music from SDcard/locally like me....i use Beat instead, free app
I use rom toolbox pro and I under clock to 1036 mhz with cfq scheduler and interactive governor. Rom toolbox pro is great at about everything you need to do and greenify pro with xposed features help a lot

+1 for beats. I used MOG for a long while before beats bought them out. Combine that with folder mount and I can store all my music to my sd card. To bad I couldn't transfer my music from mog to beats and have not had time to re download but I had about 50 gig of music before the switch over.
what happed to me

when I used xposed one of the items must have caused it as after I took them off the battery works fine (two days if I am carefully) charging once at night gives full day (plus) on battery.

I see the camera lens gets heated up after taking 5 to 6 snaps continuously. Also after using google maps & downloading some apps from play store, i see back side of the phone gets heated (not very extensive CPU operation).
Did anyone face similar issues?
Under heavy use this phone has to be the "coolest" running phone I've had in a long time. Even charging it gets warm, but not hot.
The phone getting warmer is normal with use, the camera is mostly software so it is CPU heavy.
If it's getting "hot" there's an issue. Remove the case if you have one on. See if that makes a difference.

i am having the same issue. did you find a solution to this yet?
Mine seems to be getting really warm too, after using it for a bit. I installed a temp monitoring app and my battery and you both go between 78-96f. Is that normal for this phone, or is it something that I should get an exchange over?

35C (or 96F) is nothing to worry about. That's actually cool compared to most other phones.

Good to know! It's been a long time since I've even thought about phone temps, let alone notice mine change.
my set hit 50c with light usage.. not sure what happen.
Camera app also use up alot of power
Mine got heated initially for the first 2-3 days, and then it's been absolutely fine after that. I have the Indian Variant in case that helps.

Mine only rose 10F after using the camera for a little while. Went from 78F to 88F. I recorded video, took a ton of photos repeatedly.
Just for comparison, after about 45 mins of gaming it tops out at 96-97F.
My G6 is also heating up. Every time it heats up, I open the Battery Usage and stop "Media", just this one act makes the phone very cold in 2 minutes as if I have not used it for long time. What is this Media? how can I stop it automatically?

Sounds like you have a rogue app. I don't think I've ever seen my media do that.

How to know what this app is? I can't find this kind of app in Battery usage and also in AccuBattery app.
Sent from my LG-H870DS using Tapatalk
If you disabled any apps you need to go back and clear data and force stop them. Also force stop android system. If yiu don't use smart settings clear it's data and force stop as well as myplaces and myplaces engine.
---------- Post added at 04:15 AM ---------- Previous post was at 04:12 AM ----------
Also go to media storage and clear it's data. Then you will need to rescan the media using a media scanning app(not sure if it requires root), if so just reboot. You'll have to reset your ringtones and what not but might help stop it from scanning constantly. How big is your sdcard and how many files are on it?
Heating up and poor battery life
I got a 870ds. I noticed some heating up everytime the screen is on... Whatever app i use or whatever i do. The battery is getting down the same time and i'm struggling to finish à day of normal usage.... Anyone has an idea of what can cause such issues?Thx a lot
when i accidentally click on a 3rd party camera app like Open Camera and don't know it it gets real hot real fast. I don't know why it is. the stock camera never gets that hot even with shooting tons of video at the concert the other night.
mine was getting warm sometimes but found it to be problem with apps/task running in background incorrectly (Greenify was my issue), uninstalled and phone remains cool even under quite heavy use.
Hi Jostian
An how i could find out wich Apps and tasks are running in teh backround incorrectly?
I would say maybe install something like Greenify..
I dont know how much will this affect, but I think using 3G/4G instead of wifi also makes the device get warm / hot faster..
I have no problems at all. Phone stays cool all the time, even when playing games
