I flash to JP3 yesterday Error with the wifi tethering Is anyone having this problem
Yep.. seems to be a known issue. Honestly, I have already returned to JG5 again. There aren't really any benefits to me for using Froyo yet.
Unrelated info, it's stuff like this which is why companies don't publicise their beta programs (because otherwise they get flooded with hundreds of duplicates of the same bug report).

That's true, but the fact is most of us probably bought it soon after opening night, and would still again.. I would.. GPS will get fixed, but anyway, my point is, if they officially open the beta program, they need to officially accept bug reports for them. That's probably why they instead leak firmwares instead.
Yeah think jp3 is also too lag for me!

On JG5, i noticed, voices on the other end of a call are sounding very distorted over a bluetooth connection with a car-kit.

There's a very favourable review update from Pocketnowvideo on YouTube here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=30lDZeWN82w&feature=sdig&et=1262332263.77
where he calls it his ideal device. Also interesting to note that he reckons the battery life is significantly better than the iPhone.
Hehe....and we all know the Winmo bias that Pocketnow has....

Perhaps he didn't encounter it - I never have and I'm not alone.
In fact, none of the reviews I've seen have mentioned it. That may be down to the fact that they didn't test messaging that well or it may be because they just didn't experience any issues.

Thats true, before upgrading the ROM from 1.43 to 1.48 I had a divine device. It worked flawlessly for 4 weeks. Then stupid me I upgraded to 1.48, and I screwed myself really bad. My previous ROM worked perfect.

Why is that? The Eris and Hero Share about 98% of software\hardware. We are lucky the Eris Rom got leaked and now we have working 2.1 Roms for everyday use.
Im guessing, if the gmail thing is true, that in a couple of hours (a day tops)we will have that ported to our beloved 2.1 roms for our heroes.

What's annoying for a casual user/reader is that all these ROMs say "100%" but then there's things like facebook linking issues. I like Fresh 1.1 so much that I'm seriously afraid to wipe and lose some functions I like!

I thought I was the only one saying 100%
My ROM is 100% because it is 100% usable, stable, and can be used easily as a daily ROM, and it was the first one to become that way. There are bugs and problems, but there are ALWAYS bugs and problems in everything, even if you don't notice it. Facebook syncs and links and everything else is great. There are small things in it that need some tweaking, but that's why I keep releasing new versions.

I'm a pansy then. I wish there was a good guide on how to backup using mybackup (my nandroid hasn't even been working for me recently? not sure why), but I heard it won't restore data from mybackup, so I'm afraid to use that. I'm just so attached I want it to be as painless as possible and I'm one of those people too afraid to do a wipe because I never have!

you can't expect these ROMs to be 100% perfect...
they'll be perfect when we get the 2.1 update for our phone..

Yeah, I'm thinking of taking the plunge, I just am not as tech-savvy. But a lot of people say "this is a great daily ROM" and then they say things like "fine for some..." so it's just a tad misleading is all I'm saying. To some people losing visual VM is worth it for 2.1, but I'm sure to others (myself excluded) visual voicemail is really cool and they don't want to deal without it. Even though there is a "workaround" so it's a bit weird to me, but I still want to play with it so I think I will see how bad the wipe will be haha.
Lucky Nexus One bustards
As owners for X10, are we eligible for this update??
-----------------------------
Google is also celebrating today - Android 2.2 Froyo has reached two important milestones. Google open sourced the latest version and they are pushing out the final Froyo update to Nexus One users. And we're sure the timing has nothing to do with the launch of the iPhone 4.
Sure, Froyo has been available to Nexus One users for a while (mostly on dev phones and through manual updates), but this seems to be the final, official version of Android 2.2. You could manually download the update from here (it works only if you're running FRF50 firmware), though if you don't know what you're doing, you should wait for the OTA update.
Your Nexus One should automatically check for updates or you could force a check (go to Settings -> About phone -> System updates), so one way or another you should be getting a notification that a new version is available and download it Over-the-Air.
Some people are reporting that the update is not available for them yet, so it might not work right away - rolling out updates is a gradual process and it varies by location too.
The other important milestone for Android 2.2 Froyo is that Google open-sourced the code to their partners and manufacturers and everyone else too. This means that they can start working on Froyo firmwares for the non-Google phones.
------------------------------------------
Can we have official feedback from SE guys?

Well the Nexus One is a Google brand phone so it's no huge surprise that the Nexus gets it first. It'd be more suprising if it didn't.

The way I see it with Android devices is that you buy the hardware and then hack the software to hell and back. Just didn't count on the X10 being so hard to mod when I got it, guess I'm too used to HTC phones.

Thought as much. From the posts on other threads it seems as though posters think root and ROM will appear simultaneously.
I can imagine that the first ROMs we'll get our hands on will have all sorts of bugs, and we'll have to compromise on things like WiFi, Bluetooth e.t.c. Maybe due to lack of drivers available.
I'm going on past experience from The G1 and old WinMo devices.
Oh well.......
Remember to be realistic, guys. The devs can't just copy and paste Froyo onto our X10s without a hitch. It will take some time. I'm not even anticipating a stable version of Froyo on the X10 because it is a huge task.
What I'd like to see is the latest FW but stripped down with no branding or operator software (and no Moxier crap!!!). And if it's possible, for Flash to be released on the X10. That may not be feasible but I certainly hope it's available. SE takes forever!!

Even eugene states in the op that it's not 100%, give him time to work out the kinks
Edit: looks like he got all but the auto rotate working, my bad. I might have to flash this
Bionix 1.9.1 w/ kk kernel
GPS is not going to be fix for a while, Eugene stated it himself that it missing some Libs that links the binary (just paraphrasing what he said), so until a leak is found, GPS remains useless.
That's if you don't care for it, then the only other down side is the lack of screen rotation. Otherwise, everything else should be Golden.
I always turn off auto rotation anyway

So, I was previously running MidNight and I coulnd't figure out how to get Swype to work. I'm now running Bonzia4All and it works great ... I loved Midnight - and it was probably just me ...
BTW - I didn't know that Swype was broken in stock rom. Is it?

Like I said, I just thought it was broken after I rooted and Custom Rom the phone.
