I've personally had to do a hard reset of my Viva more than a few times and after posting this link as a response in a couple of other threads I thought that I ought to just go ahead and create a new thread for it as well.
If you think you've bricked your phone and soft resets aren't working sometimes all you can do is perform a hard reset.
The following link explains the difference between a soft and hard reset and tells you how to perform them.

Hi,
Does anybody have any clue that how can I get rid of annoying T-mobile customization. And is it really safe to do so ?
Thanks
Do the BigStorage and install only Ext ROM apps you like.
Sorry mate, i didnt get that, please easy intructions
Thanks
Here are some links found in the Magician Upgrading forum.

If you don't like to do the BigStorage, the other option is to soft reset your device before the last option to tap screen after a hard reset so that all customizations don't get installed. With this option, the ExtROM is visible and you can select which ones to install.
Do a search and you would find tons of information/instructions.

Either procedure is quite easy but if you're not confident in doing them better don't as you can end up with a brick.

So here is the procedure of getting rid of T-Mobile's customization:
The whole proccess means you will do a hard reset and you will be installing everything from the beggining! So if you don't want that to happen you have to stay with T-Mobile's customization!
Step 1
Hard reset your MDA Compact (power+soft reset). Do all the neccesary steps (choosing your country and timezone) and when you get in the screen that tells you to tap the screen in order to start working have your stylus at the soft-reset hole tap the screen with your finger and do a soft reset IMMMEDIAELY AFTER YOU TAP THE SCREEN!
Furhter steps are to install what you may require. Not necessary.

No idea.
What's the benefit of the regular google? The PDA site is better designed for PDAs.
http://www.google.co.uk/webhp
Gives u "full" google.

My HD2 get reset every I reboot the machine.
I flashed a lots ROM. It happened everytime.
Some said MTTY might help is that true
pointless thread. What a waste of space.
Answer : YES
Could have just read the mtty thread!
Thats a bit harsh- the OP has a genuine problem and this is his 1st post.
Maybe a slightly more sympathetic answer would help him more, or wait till someone with something tangible to suggest makes a reponse?
The MTTY Thread

Hi,
After the success of the Diamond Version of this guide I decided to "BRING THE RAIN" over here!! I noticed a post about a rom having random hard resets so I knew my calling was up!!
After what happened in the Diamond thread with the Tourists Im going to try and remove all repeat questions BEFORE they get asked so READ THIS WARNING:

When you flash lots of cooked roms, they get "bloated" and the devices started hard-resetting for no reason.

I believe the solution without mtty is to flash a stock rom in between cooked ones. Thats what im about to do now. Mine started the random hard resetting problem.

reboot cycle
Hello
I've got a similar problem with my HD2.
After installing a few programms (no matter which ones)
my HD2 stays in a reboot cycle
after soft resetting.
What can I do?
I have tried 3 different cooked ROMS, but it's always the same.
Thanks best wishes Uli
did you follow the mtty advice?
I've had these problems, I've hardly flashed many ROMS.
I have not tried MTTY as of yet.
I have noticed that, if I don't turn off the phone for about a day, the hard resets stop. I don't know if there is actually something going on there, but yea...
