I'm trying to see if it's possible to create a pure windows ce rom for the xperia x1.
Has anyone tried this before on other devices?
Any tips on how to start on this?
I'm more familiar to working with android then windows mobile.

My institute has a genuine copy of Platform Builder for Windows CE 5.0 given by Microsoft. Is it possible to develop a 5.0 ROM for Magician using that?
No.
You need a BSP (Board Support Package) from the OEM that contains all the drivers and settings for a specific device.
Plus, there is a different Platform Builder for Windows CE and Windows Mobile.
Thank you very much. But I'd like to ask how do they realize Linux on Magician.

via reverse engeneering.
You can do the same - reverse engeneer the ROM, recreate BSP for magician and compile Windows CE 5.0, or even Windows CE 6.0 for your device. It would take 1-2 years for this to do.
You would be unable to compile Windows Mobile 5.0 because you don't have WinMobile adaptation kit. MS provides it to OEMs only.
And you should know the difference between CE and WM.
Hi.
I would love to know if it's possible to get windows CE or Windows Mobile running on a PC... I know it's weird and all, but I've got my reasons for it
Maybe I posted this in the wrong section but this is the place with all the ROM builders

I just wanted to ask why is it devs have tried getting all the desktop OS to run in qemu but I haven't heard of anyone testing windows xp mobile embedded? Why? I would imagine it would be easier to run as it's the mobile version of XP.
Windows XP Embedded has now morphed into Windows Embedded Standard, but this is only available to run on x86 or x64 platforms.
The version that will run on ARM devices is Windows Embedded Compact 7, which is the continuation of WinMo 6.5
To answer the original question, it ain't gonna work. Not on a phone device, that is.
Can we install Windows CE on our A500? Windows CE is compatible with ARM based processor architectures. So I think thats may be a way to install it on our tablet. Can someone help to make this happen?
Hi,
I'm currently in possession of a Windows CE 6.0 based device used for navigation. It's currently non-functional, it will start but it won't boot up Windows nor the navigation software. Is there any 'general' approach of installing a Windows CE 6.0 (based) ROM on such a device? Went through Search but couldn't find anything that matched my needs.
Pictures of the device attached.
Thanks in advance,

I got the same issue, but with a Medion GPS with Windows CE 5 , & don't know how to install Windows CE 6 on it.
It's now like a hard bricked pone, because I can't boot it up now after so much tries and tries with some bad tutorials on the internet.
(That happened to me to don't search it before on XDA and believe in a Youtuber guidance... ¬¬) PLEASE, NEVER DO THIS. IF SOMEONE IS READING HERE, IS BETTER TO WAIT A GOOD ANSWER IN THAT FORUM THAT TRY ANY TUTO OUTSIDE HERE OR ANOTHER PROFESSIONALS FORUMS LIKE THIS.
