Hello.
Is it possible to chose wich screen you want to use as home screen? Example: I want to have home button point to screen 4.
(If this has been answerd somewhere before, i apologize for starting a new thread.)
There's a thread which will guide you in the dev section. Third party apps like LauncherPro allow you to change this in their preferences, but touchwiz needs root and some simple text editing to get done.
Thanks, used this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=734151&highlight=homescreen

Hi,
Anyone know if there's a registry hack to remove the Home and Settings options from the home screen tabs at the bottom of the home screen? I actually use Settings a bit, but the Home option makes no sense to me. Not only is there a hardware button that takes you to the home screen, but as far as I can tell, the home screen tabs only appear on the home screen anyway, kinda making the option pointless! I'd prefer to put the settings option on one of my quicklinks instead to free up some space on the home screen tabs (I like a nice tidy maximum of 5 down there to prevent the need to scroll) and assume that if a registry hack exists, both options would sit in the same area.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Don't do it
There was a thread about it, but you would have to search for it. I don't remember anymore wharmt exactly the titel was.
I came from the same side and tried to remove the HomeTab.
1st point: it worked.
Sideeffect: not only the button in the slider vanished, but also the complete Homescreen.
So, it's better you leave the fingers off this topic.
If you want to find the thread, just search for all my posts (there aren't so many). This might be the easiest way to find it.

never mind, just reread your q, lol please ignore me.
careful
Only if your a pro , dont touch registries. Enjoy your phone and hope all is well.
What is the name of the homescreen is it TouchWiz? But when i look at the process running i see TWlauncher. Is that the same thing?
How do i change the 4 apps on the bottom withouth changing homescreen. I know it can be done with launch pro but would like to stick with the default home ap. I tried to edit but it only changes the order of the screens.
Phone is rooted
I believe this was in the sticky, but I will go ahead anyway.
If you go into the application drawer and you change how the apps are displayed, then you can edit that four apps that show in the bottom slot.

It is thanks Jonjacobmoon
@samlot I see you only have a few posts so just so you know theres a search button that will let you search all the posts. Also the Sticky is a wealth of information.
s15274n did a great job compiling all this information please use it.
I have noticed that by default, the left-most screen/desktop is set as "home screen". I want the screen in the middle to be home, is there any way to do this? I'm on the stock XXJF3 firmware.
yea, use the search button theres a thread on it.
it requires you root your device and change 2 digits of code, not hard
I would go with LauncherPro.
You can set how many homescreens you want and which is the main one. Plus it works in landscape
And this goes for all firmwares? Even in the newest firmwares, we still can't choose which one is home (in TouchWiz)?

i did answer this question u just didnt listen, look at gamers link to the thread i was on about, please use search
I actually don't have this issue. I thought I would...but I don't.
When I go to an application or to my applications menu and then go back to home, I always wind up in the last screen I was on. So if I left the homescreen when it was focused on the center most one, when I return I'm back to that same homescreen. So it's just a matter of making sure you go back to your preferred main homescreen before going to the applications menu or wherever else. Yeah it's a few extra presses on your part but if you don't want to bother with the tweak posted by others, then this is the simplest solution. What's a few extra presses or a few extra seconds out of your life right?
I'm actually never bothered by whatever homescreen I'm on. It's easy to jump through them anyway by just clicking the corresponding "dot" on top. The Froyo build will allow for an HTC like homescreen switching experience from what I read so that makes your life even easier.
EDIT: Actually it's just one extra press on your part to go to your preferred homescreen. Most people aren't aware of the jumping to whatever homescreen by pressing the dots on top feature. From all the videos I've seen, the reviewer always remarks on how it's a hassle to swipe all the way to whatever homescreen you want to get to. I guess they didn't know pressing the dots on top allows you to jump homescreens with one press. The same method works for the applications menu. So if you really love that center homescreen, then just press the center dot and there you go, you jump there immediately. Not too hard.
Hi everyone,
I have read many Threads, but I cant find a reponse.
How I can change the look of my dock.
For some people that dont know or for me, if I use the wrong name, for dock i mean the home bar in the low screen.
Like in my image I have 3 icon (Browser - applicazioni - E-mail)
I want 4 or 5 icon. I have read that someone use LauncherPro but HOW!
I have try but I can only erase the 2 icon and the middle icon stay.
Maybe it's a problem of firmware I dont know, plz someone can give me a step by step for change it?
TNX for U help!
Ok step by step
1. pick up your tab
2. unlock your tab
3. navigate to the android market
4. search for either launcher pro or adw launcher (my self i use adwEX)
5. download whichever one you prefer
6. hit the home button
7. it will now ask which home screen you want to use samsung or launcher/adw
8. select the one you downloaded
9. you will now have a blank home screen
10. press the button left to the home button and go into the launcher settings
11. navigate around and look at all the different options and set it up as you like
12. if you are happy using the launcher hit the home button and set it as default
if not download the others and try, you can run them all at the same time then just uninstall the ones you dont like, i suggest adwEX
TNX for the reply
I have already Louncher Pro, before I wrote the post.
The reason that I post was because I cant make that change.
So that is clear that I have already Louncher pro .. when I tap on the Home icon nothing happened ... Long tap little tap... Nothing.
Now I try like you suggest adwEX maybe something change
I hope it work. TNX
If you already have launcher pro, go into the settings for it and find the dock settings, im not too familar where they would be as i use adw.
you dont use the home key to get into the settings, use the key to the left of the home key
I do it, TNX a lot!
Now I must change the apparence of my TAB
I thought this topic might have ever been discussed before.
However, I tried to search the solution in the site but none of any i found. Prob I missed something.
I was tring to override the home button event. What I intended to do is to block the home button event(return back to the main page of default Android) and run my launcher home instead.
For example, if you wanna do the button test application on any android based device, home button needs to be handled.
Eventhough Android official website has announced that the developer is unable to override home button event, I still notice that some developers has completed this activity.
What I found so far is some developers add
<meta-data android:name="android.dock_home" android:value="true"/>
this line into their Androidmanifest and they say that's all they did for blocking the original home page.
I did the same procedure, however, it did not work well on my side.
Probably some of you have the experience on hadling this matter. Please share your experience so that I can follow up to get this issue done.
Any reply is appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
There is an app that remaps keys. perhaps you can take a look at it? You can find it on a post on the desire oxygen rom.
Xda app
You cant override the home button, but you can establish yourself as a replacement for the launcher. If you do that, the user will be prompted with a list of apps that can act as the launcher when they press home
