HD2 would truly be the best phone avaluable with a triple boot loader with IOS and android.
so we have the HD2 running Winmo, Ubuntu, Android, IOS, win95 and 98. I can't wait to get OSX on it too
Sorry, mostbut have to say that this is the most annoying topic name ever. i rule123, wouldnt you love to see whole forums posted threads named as "question"?. So this is not a stupid question but stupidity is the way to post the question.
But to the question, I just guess that is not possible because of the hardware problems?
Just buy an Iphone, problem solved
Stupid....

Good to see that its not only me whos been annoyed by this.
Change it OP....
About the question though, Im not sure if it would be possible.
But the OS is the exact reason i didnt buy the iphone (that and its users....)
And I think allot of HD2 users feel the same.
So even if it was possible, not many people want it....

Not gonna happen without a lot of work. iOS is not an open source system like Android and Linux which has all the instructions available. iOS does not

Exist any WM6.1 ROM for HTC Dream ? Please dont ask me why I need this.
Thanks.
No, not going to happen, been asked many, many, many times already.
why not ? where is the problem to cook non official ROM ?
For one, its a waste of a perfectly good phone to put that CRAP on it. If you want a piece of crap, buy a piece of crap.
Second, the required drivers simply don't exist.
What do you men crap ? OK, the second explanation is better.
I think lbcoder got it right. windows mobile IS Junk. I have a Kaiser in addition to the G1. The Kaiser has great hardware minus the KB, small screen, and quiet speaker, but it has a horrific OS e.g. It's slow, locks up, restarts itself for no reason.
The G1 however has a great OS that needs little or no changing at all, but dumbed down hardware.

Edit: Oh and You're Welcome.

Bottom line is if you want WinMo, buy a WinMo phone. Most of the hackers working on HTC Dream are working on Android.
Oh yeah and use the search.

I concur. I couldn't imagine going to winmo after being blessed with android.

I guess we want what we don't have? Many folk are working on porting Android to our WM devices.... Maybe it's just the challenge of it all?

Now that I think about it; I sure wouldn't mind the ability to dual boot. Not even sure why but maybe just for that hell of it.
Makes no sense
I had the T-mobile Dash before the G1 and wound up giving the dash to my wife. I was helping her learn to use it and only then did I realise how goofy the setup of it all is. They say the beauty of it is that it tries to emulate the Windows experience, but if my desktop worked like that...I'ld have a mac.

Best post in this thread. Completely true and funny as hell.
That being said I'm STILL excited to see what WinMo 7 brings to the table.
Hey I am new to flashing. I have changed the roms on g1's, and on the nexus one per different youtube vidoes and stuff i have read in this forum.
Yesterday i purchased the HD2 and to my horror found out that it was running on Windows Mobile (WTF). So i have been loking around and I saw that in the past the forum has been able to get Touch Pro 2 that run on WM6.5 to dual boot into android.
So I am hoping that the same can be done with the HD2. So is the HSPL2 listed in this forum the beginning steps to this process or what? Has anyone yet setup the HD2 to run on android?
I know this is wordy but I just want to make it understood that I am new and I want to learn and that I have the desire to get android on my HD2.
thanks any suggested reading is welcome as the steps to get android on this awesome phone that HTC FUBAR'd with WM6.5
The HD2 cannot run android at this time.

No, it's not quite there at this time. However, while I understand your opinion, I don't think HTC "FUBAR'd" at all. I've had a few Android devices and this phone is AMAZING, even with WM.
this has been discussed already at length.. if you look in the ROMS section of the forum you'll find it ..
And it is NOT going to happen soon..
Android on the HD2 will be amazing! Hopefully they can get it ported by summer to compete with the HTC EVO.

...this is not true,
There is an engineer at the local Tmobile call center dual booting Android and winmo. He runs Android off of the card itself. The phone that is dual booting is at the kiosk at the LaPlaza mall in Mcallen TX and has been used as their demo phone.
How is he doing it? I have no idea, but hes told myself and a Tmobile sales buddy that he'll help us out with it.
So, you purchased the phone without realizing its a WM phone, and have the balls to complain, all because you didnt read, and now are asking if you can put android on it...lazy much?
I suppose you want someone to flash it for you too, or better yet start another thread asking how to do that...
Didn't you see the windows mobile on the box...

You're saying he's booting android on a hd2? I doubt it. Are you sure its not a TP2? There is an andriod port for the TP2.
I'm not sure how you purchased the phone without knowing the underlying OS, but I'm guessing you bought it in the US for Tmobile. If that is the case, and I'm guessing it is, then you can't flash any ROMs for it yet because of the different SPL.

I seriously doubt this. Maybe you had it confused with an HD or a TP2, but I doubt xda wouldn't know about this...especially since it's most likely to originate here. A picture to prove this would be great, but I don't expect it.

I would just like to thank everyone that replied. I guess i just need to wait a bit longer for the xda big brains to resolve this issue. I just thought that it would have been a simpler thing to do since the HD2 in UK had been flashed to run android. I have plenty on time and money so I can buy another device and wait.
Thanks again all.

News to me! I've seen it running on other devices, but even then it's beta, with various functionality still unavailable, WIFI etc.
If you wanted Android, a little research before hand should and would have been wise, i.e. waiting for the EVO to be released.
I like WinMo 6.5. It may not be as pretty as Android or iPhone OS (without the Sense gui which is quite lovely imho) but it's a very versatile and an incredibly powerful tool in the hands of the right user. If you're in a business environment, using Microsoft equipment, exchange servers etc, there is not an more efficient handheld device to carry in you pocket (again, imho).
I'm just curious as to if it is possible to port winmo 6.5 to the eris or any other android phone for that matter. I know its super counter productive but it seems like it would be a fun project similar to the N1 running windows 3.1 (my first os for the record). Just for ****s and giggles. Is it possible to port or is there a port already?
Sorry if this shouldnt be in development but it seems like a dev question. Move to general if youd like, lulz

Trust me, I hate winmo. I had a verizon touch pro if that gives you any indication to how much I could possibly hate it (worst phone/os ever). I just want to know if it can be done.

If its such a fun project, why dont you try to see if it can be done or not instead of always being negative and counter productive?

are there any chances for WP7 ROM for DHD? I mean something like the HD2
someone knows something?
why??? android is way better than WP7.
No, no, no, no you can't do it, and wouldn't want to if you could. This question is asked by someone everyday and is answered the same every time, please if you plan on staying on XDA learn how to use the search function before posting a new question!
I can't believe there is another thread about this. Get one every day now!
At the same time though, I am quite interested to know why it can't be done.
I mean, there is NAND flash Android on the HD2 now, and with the DFT release of WP7 on the HD2 (which is fairly similar hardware-wise to the DHD) I wonder why it wouldn't be possible.
Is there a good reason behind it, other than the default response of "WINDOWS PHONE 7 IS CLOSED SOURCE" because they've obviously got it working on the HD2...

Are you serious? With the camera on the back? This would be quite difficult.
When I tried Beta10 of ICS I didn't see any option like this, but I haven't explicity look for it.
Also, NFC won't work, too
I know it would be hard but also it would be awesome lol

Yes generaly you can ask everysthing. But think about it. You know that on this forum there is 1000 same questions ? I mean how can you eventualy think to have FR without front camera ? Can you drive car without wheels ? No!
Ehh so? Ill use with the back camera and i know a lot of people that wouldnt care of using the back camera because that idea is new and fresh and not all phones have it. Thats why i asked it, so you think my question ia stupid? Fair enough but nex time you read another "stupid" question think it twice what youll submit.
