Hi everyone, I decided to finally root and flash to axura today. I saw the one click vibrant root link today and did that one successfully. I did some searching and ended up with Austiclees instructional video.
My phone is currently rooted and after downloading Axura 2.0.6. I loaded it onto my internal sd. I downloaded the newest clockwork and when i click install from sd card it seems to be working. However, the screen just goes to android system recovery and I'm stuck having to choose between reboot now or reinstall packages. I'm very frustrated right now and was wondering how to get Axura to actually install..
BTW I did not root from one click lag fix.. I hope thats not the problem.. Any help would be appreciated PLEASE!!!
I just flashed onyx on my vibrant like a day ago.
When you have the rom on your phone you go to rom manager install clockwork i cant remember if you need to restart... after that you click reboot into recovery ...
wait for the prompt to come up and choose to reinstall packages the phone will reboot and open another prompt (you may have to repeat this step if you didn't get into clockwork recovery just click reinstall again.)
Once you are at clockwork recovery you choose install from sdcard and navigate to your rom.

The way you rooted is not an issue.
Click reinstall packages that should take you into cw recovery. Sometimes you have to click twice. Once in Cw recovery scroll down to install zip from sd card, then click choose zip from sd card. After that click on your chosen rom, let it do it's thing and when it brings you back to Cw screen click reboot now. Then enjoy your new Rom.
thanks guys... i figured it out... for anyone with the same problem, I just clicked reinstall packages twice; which put me into clockwork recovery. And for anyone deciding if they want to root and flash or not, let me just say axura's rom on the vibrant is undescribably wonderful. I love not having to reboot when I go to gallery, wifi problems are non existant, as for gps, I haven't tried yet but will be most likely flawless.
thanks ironlood and icandy...
sigh, why didnt i do this before -_-
No prob .. I was actually thinking about flashing Axura in a week or so ... just watcheda video that showed absolutely no lag

For me and my setup, Axura has been the best, and I tried most. I don't think you even need Voodoo lag fix kernel, I just could not resist. Stick with plain Aura 2.2 for now. It's smooth like butter.
And welcome to flashing!

Yeah I have read a few guides on Odin but the program itself is still hard for me to understand.
There needs to be a wiki or something that has a entire glossery for the program's terms.

so the question, with the newly build cm7 that just release few days ago, is it better then the cm6 rc2? I read on the forum that cm6 was better but that was before the new cm7 rc1 release. any input?
I am about to flash cm6 to test, as far as cm7 I have issue with navigon not working, some app crashing, I have yet to test extensively.
I would love to hear some feedback on this as well.
RA
It's going to be a little different for everyone as far as connectivity, GPS, etc. There's a FAQ with suggested fixes for some of these issues. Obviously there are features in CM6 that aren't in CM7 and vice versa, so it sorta comes down to personal preference. Quite frankly, both are great.
That is interesting how the phone are not consistent I like cm7 more then cm6 but cm7 is giving me some issue I have to reboot many time
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
The gps issues in cm7 can be fixed by flashing the newest nightly.
http://mirror.teamdouche.net/?device=glacier
They're both great roms, cm7 is just the newest stuff.
Clockwork recovery 3.0.0.6 is fully compatible with both froyo and gingerbread roms and nandroids.
On any flash, wipe data/factory reset, flash rom, flash gapps, then let it sit on first boot and give it some extra time to finish loading before setting up. Reboot again after you've signed into google and done the basic set up.
I think I'm gonna flash cm6 rc2 first as well before I go to cm7 rc1. I'm aware that they're both different him their own way, so I think it'll be best if I gave both a try.
Only thing I need now is to get back the 2.2.1 update from tmobile cuz I had to flash pd15img after my first root went haywire

There's actually a new pd15img.zip that includes the 2.2.1 update. Link in my sig.
both are great. I use both, right now on cm7. it maybe buggy depending on what you do. for the apps i use, it's ok but cm6rc2 is pretty much solid all around. upgrade cwm recovery 3006, very easy to switch.

No. DO NOT UNZIP. Rename the file to pd15img.zip and place on root of your sdcard. Then boot up as you described, DO NOT SELECT FASTBOOT.
When you boot up into hboot, the phone will automatically detect the file and ask you if you'd like to begin the update.
Make sure that your windows pc displays file extensions and that you are naming the file pd15img.zip and not pd15img.zip.zip (with the second .zip being invisible)

ok, so I'm a little new at this. But I downloaded the newest version of Iced Glacier, and put it on the root of my phone, but it turns out that my stupid mac unzipped the folder, so I wasn't able to flash it. And for some reason my clockwork in recovery won't let me restore. Everytime I try to restore it just brings me to the original mytouch 4g boot screen.. So my phone can't function now, and I'm getting worried. Any help would be much appreciated!
Just reflash it from recovery without it being unzipped

You will need to redownload it and make sure it doesnt unzip it and then install it again as mark manning said.
If you want to restore your backup of a 2.2 rom you must use Clockworkmod recovery 3.0.0.6 or 2.5.1.2 . You can get 3.0.0.6 by making sure you have the latest Rom Manager from the market and then downloading and installing the zip I provide in the dev section or in my signature. You can DL it straight to your phone if you want just make sure to move it out of any folders on your sdcard before you try to install it.

You need to flash the GAPP.zip same way you flashed your rom go to the CM thread you will see it. Once GApp.zip is flashed you will be able to use Market, GMail, ect other Google related service. Normally CM can't supply these packages as they are not allowed to distribute.

this was my original post.....
did what all my friends told me to do, who have the evo apparently a bad mistake. used unrevoked to root my evo, worked perfect. stoked!! downloaded titanium backup, backed up everything, worked great. still happy. went to install a rom (i guess) it told me i needed to change my kernel and had a link to the market for a kernel downloader. downloaded the app looked through bout five different kernels, all had good reviews and stable... downloaded the one with the most downloads (6700 or something). asked download? i said yes. asked flask now? i said yes. it said flash complete reboot coming... rebooted got to the HTC EVO 4G white screen sat there for bout 15 seconds and shut off tried to reboot again same thing. bout ten times in a row so i pulled the battery. did a hard reset didnt fix, did a wipe, didnt fix.... did not make a nandroid back up...oops
anyone know what i can do please help.. thank you

no my phone will not boot up i just have the sd card mounted phone by my side off. i was told to drag the rom into sd card then reinstall into phone go to recovery mode and unzip the filed rom from the sd card through the phone using the volume buttons and lock button to select.
but it wll not let me drag the rom into the sd card to even get that far
Answer is to find another kernel (stock or otherwise) and put it on the SD Card. Then boot into Recovery and flash it.
Sounds like you may have loaded an ASOP kernel on a Sense Rom. What you are gonna need to do is pull out the SD Card and connect to your computer with a USB adapter so SD Card reader if you Laptop/PC has one. Download a SENSE Rom kernel and flash that in Recovery. If that doesn't work. put the phone back to stock and start over. Also, you might want to copy the Titanium Backup folder to your PC, just in case.

Hi guys,
First of all, i apologize if I post in a wrong forum, kind of new in XDA. Wanted to thank you all, because, even though, I didn't register, your forum helps me A LOT with android phones... I'm facing a situation with an HTC, and as I surfed the web, and no one seems to have the same problem, I'm adressing it in this forum.
I bought an refurbished mytouch 4g glacier on amazon. When it came, in addition to be locked (not a big problem), I couldn't enter the settings (the linked program is no longer installed on your phone) and worst, there is no dialpad. I assumed that the owner tried to flash it with a corrupt version...
As it is for me a brain challenge, i decided to try to fix it...
I made a factory reset with the buttons (pwr+vol down), same thing! I tried recovery, I think with the S-ON, it didn't work (red triangle). I tried to use wifi to download things or a file manager, but you'll need to access the settings options, and I don't have access. I download SDK manager, but the phone needs to be usb debugging to be found by pc, and I can't access the settings options. I download an usb debugging apk, put it in the sd card, but as there is no file explorer, I could access it...
This is why I asked your help. This is a Glacier pvt ship s-on, with green fonts, (cyanogen 7?: there were a difference with green fonts and orange fonts...)
Thanks in advance.

Ditto. If you don't know whether the phone is rooted, I would just flash the PD15IMG of the stock 2.3.4 ROM by loading the file onto the root of the SD card and booting into the bootloader (volume down + power). Then if after you are sure it works you want to root it, you can always go on from there.
In terms of figuring out which ROM you have, since you can't get to the 'about phone', if your boot animation just has the Tmobile MyTouch 4g logo on a white background, followed by a circular green MyTouch logo, then you are probably on the stock ROM. If it was CM7 or anything else, it would usually have a different custom boot animation.
Good luck!
You can also tell which stock version you are running: 2.2.1 has no quick settings tab in the notification drawer while 2.3.4 does.

Thank you for your quick answer... I have already done this 5 days ago. I downloaded the PD15img, put it in the sd card (actually, i didn't know which extension to put in the sd card, so i unzip the file and i let the zip one: i put both in the sd assuming the phone will use the best extension it needs!). I use pwr+ vol down, nothing happen.
Any ideas? Maybe if i found an update version of the pd15img?
Thanks for your help
Guys, I'm blessed...Not because I found the solution yet, but because I found you thinking with me!
It seems I have the 2.3.4, because, as you said, I have the quick drawer icon. I have already try the bootloader, but i will try again from the beginning. I will download again the pd15img (if it was a problem while downloading) and revert to you in 2 hours.
Thank you again!
It should be a file named PD15IMG.zip. Any file by that name placed in the root of the sd card will be flashed through the hboot bootloader. Don't unzip it. If it is named exactly that, when you boot into the bootloader via vol down + power, it should scan for it, and if it detects the file, it will ask if you want to update.
Be sure you are using the right PD15IMG.zip file (2.3.4 Stock). There are a lot of files by that name, since it is used to flash all kinds of things (radios, etc.). Looks like it might be available here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1476745&highlight=pd15img&page=10

I do have the Tmobile MyTouch 4g logo on a white background, followed by a circular green MyTouch logo. I'm on the stock rom then? Is that make any difference or I can still process with downloading pd15img? Anyway, that's worth the try!
I'll keep you posted
It does sound like you are definitely on stock 2.3.4 since you have the stock boot animation, and the notification bar quick drawer that was introduced with gingerbread 2.3.4.
It only makes a difference if you aren't rooted. If you weren't rooted and flashed a different ROM it probably wouldn't work, and you could get stuck in a boot loop (couldn't get past the hboot menu). But, the fix would be to flash the stock PD15IMG anyway, so you should be fine. Either way, nothing is going to happen unless you flash something, because it sounds like system files have been deleted.
I'm still kind of a noob, but I feel pretty confident with that. I've messed up before and recovered from hboot with a PD15IMG file. Your hboot and recovery sound like they are stock. Just be sure once you have it working that you remove or rename the PD15IMG file from your sdcard, otherwise it will keep trying to flash it when you boot into the bootloader.

one person suggested making sure the sd card is FAT32 formatted, seemed to help his issue.
Also, you might want to be sure that even if it gives you that error message, there isn't a loading bar on the right hand side of the screen making progress. If I recall the last time I did it, it wasn't obvious it had worked, and loaded for a few minutes before popping up with 'do you want to update?'
Did you try both the 2.3.4 and the '2.3.4 new' file found on the aforementioned page?

Good and bad news!!!
The good news: It really makes a difference indeed to format the sd in Fat32. Although i formated it many times, as I used to see FAT, I didn't know there were another option for FAT32. Well, after format it in FAT32, i put the file in the sd card: pd15img loads successfully...
Bad news: I hurrily check if I can access the option: "the linked program is no longer installed on your phone".
At least, we know formating sd card in FAT32 does make a difference!.
Maybe I should try another new rom like 2.3.6?
Any ideas is welcomed!
Thank you
Wow, head scratcher. If you were rooted with a custom recovery I'd say you probably need to format the system partition and wipe data and cache before flashing, but obviously you can't do that. Might be worth trying a few times to force it through?
I think this is out of my league at this point. Hopefully someone smarter than me will pop in!
Only other thought is maybe something can be done through fastboot? But I wouldn't know what.

Thank you a lot for your help. It's been useful cause I learned a lot, much more than alone. If I get through this, I will post.
My next thinking is to download USB debug apk into the phone, so maybe, it will enable the option and I could use adb. But in order to do that, i should pay to unlock it...(wondering if it worth it). As soon as i put a sim in it, i know my carrier would install the apn settings for me automatically, so i would be online and be able to download. I try the wifi options, but i couldn't connect.
Could you help me with the unlock?
Thanks in advance
