Recommended Apps on the Market

So I got g1 last night and I love it, downloaded a few apps from market so I figured I would share recommendations for apps I have so far. First tmobile hot spot locater is a must. Also got myspace which is cool but not really needed. Wikimobile is awesome, a must have and any cut program allows you to place shortcuts on homescreen on just about anything on your phone, including battery. Which programs has everyone else found useful, recommend?

Yes sir it is a great app a must have mikey my man! Starting to think I don't need internet sharing g1 internet is blazing fast!

Anycut: ***** Great little app that makes anythign info a desktop shortcut. Very handy for battery info and network settings
Bonzai Blast**** Amazing and addicting game. Only proble is that it sucks your battery life
WikiMobile**** Does a great job of mobile implementation of Wikipedia. Great for looking up facts on certain things. Try looking up the G1

How long are apps going to be free on the market? Are apps even free?

Apps will be free untill the end of the year, starting Jan then we pay

Would you recommend it over shopsavvy? Updated my first post as well, by the time I'm done my first post will take up the first page lol.
As far as the file manager its a good start but can't open most of the files which sucks.

I do recommend Compare everywhere over shop savy. Compare averywhere has more products...

Sweet....thanks man I just got it....some people complain about the apps,but they are doing pretty well uploading stuff,consideing the device was relased a week ago.

Cool thanks gonna switch em out right now!

I didn't like the solitare interface. It was a forced landscape, and the card sizing is funky...not the cards themselves, but the symbols/numbers. They should've taken a cue from WinMo and made the hearts, diamonds, clubs, spades oversized so that they're more visible.

Getting Sense UI Widgets on Nexus One, Like Bookmarks

Hey guys. I'm wondering if it's possible to get some of the very nice looking HTC Sense Widgets on our Stock, or Vanilla 2.2 Phones. I have a N1 running CM6.1 Nightly and I'd love some Sense UI Widgets.
Yes I have Beautiful Widgets, and that is nice. But I'm looking for stuff like there Bookmarks Widget, and there Calls or Call Log, and the People Widget, or things like those. Is this possible? I love the bookmarks widget on Sense, that is one of the main things I want. Thanks for any help or suggestions.

Impossible to get the actual widgets on stock android...however you can download LauncherPro and pay for the plus features and it comes with a slew of sense style widgets (resizable too so IMO better)
and for ADW Launcher there are free and paid widgets u can download from the market which work well with it.

I wonder why we can't extract the widgets from Sense.. that sucks.
and I've never gave Launcher Pro an honest try, so maybe I should check it out. but ADW is integrated into CM6. I've looked on the market. There doesn't seem to be any good Bookmark Widgets out so that might be a no go. But thanks!

the launcher pro plus is the way to go...yes it isn't free but it is well worth it. LauncherPro itself doesn't support widgets, the paid version does though it is available thru the app and not thru the market.

For every post on the forum someone will respond "USE THE SEARCH FEATURE, THATS BEEN ASKED ALREADY" - I think that was the point of his question as it was worded, "...can u lead me to" - not to mention the person who types that response almost never includes the helpful link to the question being asked - I ask "why is that?" Comeon helpful forum community be helpful - for the record I've only once used the search feature n found what I was looking for - this is way too much information to be sorted this old way - SOMEONE NEEDS TO DO A NIGHTLY BUILD FOR THIS FORUM

I use the Twitter, Facebook and Calendar widgets in Launcher Pro Plus and they're great.
You won't be disappointed in the purchase.

This is because HTC widgets rely on large chunks of HTC framework, "melted" among AOSP code. The way to go would be to backport some of it back into AOSP, AND largely modify the widgets to make them not rely as much on Sense. Highly impractical.
If I recall correctly, adding HTC widgets was tried by people online on ADW on HTC phones, and it wouldn't work because you cannot use them outside of the HTC Sense launcher.

For the call log, get the last call widget. Tapping the left will open up the whole call log, and on the right you can make a direct call back.
For the people widget, give picture dial a try.

picture dial is the way to go...

Launcher Pro
I'm running completely stock and Launcher Pro is the best all in one solution I've found. I paid for the full version have not regretted it. There are several very useful Sense-like widgets (Bookmarks, Calendar, Facebook, Twitter, Friends [which is all your social networking feeds in one], Messaging, People [which is your contacts]). It also allows your homescreens to rotate to landscape, gives you a customizable and scrollable dock. I also find that it scrolls much more smoothly than the stock launcher.
Well worth the purchase price.

Dialer one is almost an exact replica of the sense dialer FWIW and free.

That's a pretty blunt way of saying things. You telling me you can prove he stole the code from htc and htc is taking so damn long to pull a cease and desist?
And he's currently rewriting the code from scratch so it should be a different beast altogether in the next version.

Cease and desist between two countries with loose IP laws? That's a waste of time.
Look at his earlier .apks you'll find HTC assets in the res folder that have nothing to do with the launcher at those points. *oops*

[REQUEST] Star Wars UI

Peeped out the R2D2 Droid 2 and the phone has Star Wars elements scattered across the UI. I thought it was pretty cool.
Is it possible and/or is anyone interested in seeing if it's possible to bring these elements to an HD2 build?
This isn't a manic request. I just figured I can't be the only Star Wars geek, here. If I had the wherewithal to do it, I would. No problem if no one wants to look into this.

That would be awesome if someone did! I'm a huge Star Wars fan myself!

Believe there's an R2D2 boot screen out there from the Droid, not sure if it was working properly though on the HD2...

The boot screen is way cool but you only see it once in a while.
I'm wondering if the differing screen sizes would make this idea impossible. I'm far from being knowledgeable about this. Is it possible to extract the visual elements from it for use on any vanilla froyo build?

Google for driod star wars apk and you should find all the live wallpapers and other stuff that's out there. I've had them and got bored of them lol really didn't fit with my minimalist tastes despite being a massive star wars nut.

I had the slug working before... make sure your DPI is set to 240 also may depend on the build you are using. When i had it working i was using one of darkstones froyo builds.

Help finding live wallpaper

I would really like to have the Holo Spiral live wallpaper apk from the Motorola Xoom on my A500. Any help would be appreciated.

Are you sure that's the name of the wall you're looking for? Could you post a screenshot?

That's what it's called and it is only on the Xoom, but it has been ported and I cannot find the apk. It is blue with white spinning dots. A pic of it is on the A500's live wallpaper icon.

I just got it from one of the XOOM ROMs. Here:

Doesn't work (problem parsing the package) here but at least you can try extracting from another ROM from the XOOM section or from m-deejay's Virtuous Xoom...or from a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 ROM (It might originate from there)

No, but that one is easier to find on Google. As for what I am looking for,Holo Spiral is the official name for the wallpaper. It is an official Google live wallpaper, so I find it surprising that it is not on many other tablets other than the Motorola Xoom. By the way the name Holo Spiral is from the official name for the Honeycomb User Interface known as HoloUI.
I also appreciate the apk link from the Xoom rom. It would be even better if I could get it to work on the A500 without the need of a specific rom. If anyone could mod it to work, that would be great.

Any one know where to get home themes and chat bubbles? The ones that came with the phone are horrible, so are the ones in the SmartWorld app. I just want something clean (pure android looking) nothing cartoony or gay.
