Clockwork does not currently support flashing radio. You will need to use PB31IMG.zip to perform a full RUU to the leaked OTA 2.1 firmware. Afterwards, run unrevoked3, then apply the leaked 2.2 rom.

Ok already did the pb31img. The instructions posted here said to update the radio ota before loading the 2.2 Rom... should the radio update be omitted ? I thought I read earlier that if the new 2.2 leak was applied before updating radio there would be problems with cam. Ect. Not working ...

Okay, just to clarify, you are running BONE STOCK, with stock recovery.
Does your error look like this?
http://img812.imageshack.us/i/img3017b.jpg/
If so, go ahead and boot up your device with bone stock 2.1, and make sure the exchange update is applied. If not, you should get prompted for an OTA. Install that OTA, then retry the radio update.

I haven't applied any updates yet... never got prompted for an ota update yet... bone stock 2.1 with stock recovery. I did the P311.img which unroots if I'm not mistaken. Did wipe after the p311.img . Is there some way to force the ota ? Btw how do I apply exchange update?

Thanks for the suggestions... I figured it out.. I renamed the file as update instead of update.zip .retired and it worked perfectly... loaded 2.2 through clockwork... froyo happiness ! thanks again

[SOLUTION] To all rooted users with stock ROMs getting errors upon Froyo update!

If you are like me, rooted but with stock rom, and tried to update to Froyo with the original google update you probably got this error:
"
assert failed: apply_patch_check("/system/lib/modules/bcm4329.ko" . "e594389935893859358938")
E:error in /sdcard/update.zip
(status 7)
Installation aborted.
"
That's because the official google update doesnt work for rooted users.
Then you probably found a developer modded update especially for rooted users, but then when trying to apply it, you get E: signature verification error
That's because the default google recovery tool, doesnt work with non-google signed updates
So you need not just modded update but modded recovery tool as well.
Here is what you do
Install amon-ra recovery tool:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611829
Then you flash Paul's update:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=686734
And bam you've got Froyo, finally!
p.s.
no wipe is necessary
Any idea if rooted users running stock rom and stock recovery can get 2.2 via OTA updates? It seems like there are so many problems with this Froyo update that I'd rather wait for OTA if I can.
To a clean install of Froyo coming from a Rooted phone:
Do a nandroid backup.
Just change files from a Froyo's
And you got it.

They should be able to, yes, with stock ROM and stock recovery. Simply having an unlocked bootloader should not prevent the OTA update. However, it does not appear that every OTA update will work with every stock ROM, which is why stock AT&T users are SOL for OTA until Google sends out one specifically for them.
I get FroYo FRF50 installed but that's where it stops... same issue as always when I go higher with either RFR 50 or 83.

2.1 leak or 2.1 root

bought a phone off ebay (eris)
how do i know if its running 2.1leak or 2.1 root?
Check the bootloader version. 1.46 or 1.47 and it would be the OTA; 1.49 and it's a leak.
[Edit: Hold volume down and the power button when you power it on to check.]
it says 1.47. does this mean i can downgrade to 1.5 using tutorial
I'm not an expert at this, but i do know (i think) two things. One, hboot V 1.47 can be rolled back to 1.5 via that tutorial. Two, you can install the original root rom, as it works with the OTA update, directly to the current version... (I think)
i have been trying to flash amon recovery image so i can do the 1.5 downgrade tutorial but it doesnt seem to work
Try installing the root pb00img file, and see what happens, as it seems the phone has the OTA update, and you have to have root to flash the recovery image... (I believe)
If you are trying to root, you can do so directly from the ota.
in terms of rooting android 1.5 and 2.1 are pretty much the same.
you can root using both
you can flash the same roms on both
you can downgrade back to 1.5 once you root on both
etc

I would recommend that you check out the following thread. They made a nice app that can help through the process.

froyo ota update failure

Im having a problem with updating my wildfire to froyo from 2.1. the update downloads then i choose to install now. the phone reboots and the install starts and the message "failed to verify whole file signature" comes up. i have the phone rooted with unrevoked.can someone help me?
thanks in advance.
Instead using OTA try with the RUU...
for example ROM manager?
No...if you have a 2.1 rooted ROM you have different possibilities to upgrade to Froyo:
1) Flashing a rooted Froyo ROM that you can find here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=877977
2) Use the official RUU. You will lose your root until Unrevoked supports the new version. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=877091

Evo 4.22 Stock Recovery

Could someone please point me in the direction of where I can get the Evo 4G 4.22 stock recovery image?
Stock recovery is no recovery, what exactly are you looking for?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I am rooted and have CWM installed. I am looking to put back the stock 4.22 recovery so I may install the the 4.24 OTA update.
I like to keep my Rom stock and prefer to install updates via OTA.
If you take the 4.24 OTA you will no longer be "rooted" Look for one of the rooted ROMs and flash it
Yeah,what he said
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I am using the Unrevoked root method and no update (3.70,4.22) to date has unrooted my phone.
I have simply been restoring the current version of the stock recovery, which I have previously found on the internets, and then running the OTA update as normal. Once done I install CWM and the latest SU updates. Works great.
I would like to perfrom this method once agian to install the 4.24 update and all I need is the 4.22 stock recovery.
If you don't want to be rooted anymore, then just accept the OTA - it'll override your current recovery with the stock recovery, which is actually a lack of recovery.
But as others have said, you won't be able to root again unless you've ran unrevoked or unrevoked forever and remain s-off. In that case, you'll have to flash a recovery and then flash the rooted version. So if you want to stay rooted, you might as well go ahead and do that. You should be able to just wipe cache and dalvik and install, so the end result will be the same but you'll be rooted.
I hope that made sense...

You probably want this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1133379
This is the actual update, but rooted, so you can keep your CWM recovery, get the latest update that was made OTA, but remain rooted. You don't want to just accept the OTA if prompted, your root will go away.
Once you've downloaded it (and the radio update as well), follow the instructions here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14933526&postcount=31
Thats the problem. I cannot install the OTA 4.24 update with CWM installed, nor can I install the update manually, via renaming and then update method, as it will error out during install.
OTA updates will only install if the proper stock verion of recovery in installed, hence I really need the 4.22 recovery.
Installing OTA updates when using Unrevoked does not change S-OFF, it only overwrites SU which can be easily reinstalled. I know as I rooted my evo way back when it was version 3.26 using unrevoked 3 and have installed every OTA update since using this method and still have S-OFF
Thanks, but I do not need to go that route. My method will update as normal and I wont have to wipe my phone.

And you won't be rooted anymore. There are only about 3 thousand posts telling people this, and most AFTER they found out the hard way. There are stock Rooted ROMS based on the recovery, as in STOCK! but still rooted, and up to date.
BTW, there are also a lot of posts detailing how the OTA made their phones worse, but if you want to be a hard head, go ahead and bury yourself, but don't come back crying when you figure out.
how come every other incompetent noob can manage to get their phone back to stock and permanently locked/unrooted, yet I cannot manage this feat intentionally?
if I intentionally flash the 4.22 zip from shipped-roms will this eliminate my root and recovery?
well install the 4.22 update from recovery didn't work... it aborted with some error.
ARGHHH!!! SOMEONE HELP ME LOCK MY PHONE PLEASE!!!
I appreciate the heads up, but if done correctly, it does work and has worked great for me the past few OTA updates.
I am aware of all the potential problems and am not the only one successfully installing OTA updates on a rooted evo and staying rooted.

Bottom line is if you change back to S-ON, and apply the OTA you lose root forever (or until Unrevoked finds a new backdoor). If you leave S-OFF then you can downgrade, and reload a recovery. The stock ROM's you'll find here (ex. Sprint Lover's) are stock, and rooted. They pretty much the same thing you get over the air. Don't be a lid..
I downloaded a from shipped roms the last rom for my evo and downloaded the s-on tool. Ran the tool then connected my phone to the computer and ran the RUU i donloaded. Fully stock unrooted locked phone
I am a noob
First learn the correct terminology for what you are tying to achieve. There is no 4.22 recovery that you can just flash, there is a 4.22 ROM and a 4.22 RUU.
Then check out the WIKI and FAQs these both contain the info you are looking for .
Not trying to be mean. Just do some research before you mess up your phone and come here asking for stuff that doesn't exist.
4.22 ROM = just the ROM
4.22 RUU = .exe that runs on your PC to FLASH your PHONE with new radio, recovery, hboot, rom, etc

Restore your recovery partition back to stock.
some how my problem same to shin9999, already unroot and also restore to stock.. but the installation keep fail.... dont know why..... could someone help?
We can't help you if you don't tell us more information...
Have you installed ANY patches of ANY kind into your current ROM? AdHoc fix? NFTS fix? Have you removed any stock apps, or frozen them at all?
ANY change at all to the stock ROM will cause the differential update to fail, as the file checksums will no longer match.

because 4.010.22 is a stock rom and it wiped your CWM recovery ( technically you're back to stock recovery... therefore the update to .30 went smooth )
did you guys re-rooted/CWM after you went to 4.010.30 ?? then un-rooted to updated to 4.010.38 ?
when you'd un-rooted... did you restored stock recovery ??
did you properly shutdown the device and transferred the zip file to root of SD Card and properly invoked the stock recovery ??
try the info outlined here
