Tried using one of those charge-by-phone solutions where you write your number on a website and receive an SMS that you're supposed to reply to.
The problem is that when I try to reply, the status is stuck at "sending", and it never finishes.
I tried two different services and failed with both. Both of them had a name instead of a number that you're supposed to reply to. The first was named "FREE" and the second "FOR".
I tried to send an SMS to a normal number, which went fine.
Any thoughts on why I am experiencing these problems? On my old SE, using such services worked fine.
Hmm
Has anyone else tried this. Just want to know if it's just mine or all galaxy S.
(with the stock message application)

Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone else is having the same problem as me.
Every now and again I'll send a text message to someone (or sometimes a few people) and then I'll get a text back from them saying that I only needed to send it once as they'd received it twice.
Now, as far as I can tell, this is gonna be eating into my text bundle (which I'm not too happy about!) and wondered if anyone else has experienced this with their device?
I had this last night.... I sent an SMS to my Dad the day before... and last night he rang me up asking why I sent it again..... I had no idea!! Nothing to do with Orange is it??
Nope, nothing to do with the Orange network as a mate of mine has just bought an O2 XDA II and he's sent a few texts which I've received twice.
Dears, I guess you have Sbp Pocket Plus 2.0 or 2.1 installed in your xda, it creats the problem of sending doublicate messages.
The Solution???
In the options, do not use the "close" feature in Pocket Plus, simply take out the tick in the "Close" feature, then try to send SMS. Your imate, or xda, or wshatever, will work ok afterthen!!!
Ahhh, right...
I'll try adding an exclusion to the list for "tmail.exe" (which is what PocketPlus identifies it as) and see if I get any more problems...
Cheers for that

I don't have it (SPB Plus) but I have the same problems! ITS A CON Back in the days of free texts on Pay as u go on o2 I noticed this.... MY SMSC (Text Message Service Centre Number) had changed because I was investigating why my friends where recieving multiple copys of messages on seeing that the smsc number had changed once i had added (Whats now called a 'bolt on') to my number I changed it back to the original once that was done I STILL Recieved my free messages and the multiple copys had stopped
this used to happen with me , i tried this solution and it worked with me
when u send any message, DO NOT exit the sms program until u get a sent message confirmation and that won't happen.

That seems to have done the trick...
Yep, adding tmail.exe to the exceptions list works like a charm - nice-1
Mine started doing this to-day ahh!!
Have added the tmail.exe to exception list hope this works
Hi all,
It seems this problem has been discussed many times. I've searched from this site and found one link that's related to this problem (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=3909969). I've tried it but can't be solved. When I send sms, I'll got error message "The phone is not ready. Wait 15 seconds and try again". I've have wait and try and try but still not work. From above link, I used AT command to check and confirm that smsc center is correct. I'm not sure that it's problem of SIM card or WM.
But there is one thing i wonder. I have installed Garmin on my phone. When I use Garmin to send my location to my friend, message can go through. I think this application also use sms to send, cos I have check my sms usage and I found my transaction in history was sent successfully. So it seems sms can be sent through Garmin successfully.. but can't be send through in normal way, what's difference?
Regards,
Pattarapong
maybe gamin block the normal sms app
No, this problem happen before I installed Garmin. And still happen, I just gave the example that Garmin can sent out the sms. Any others' idea?
Anyone has any idea for this problem?
Hey guys,
I'm having some issues here. When receiving sms, the senders number doesn't always appear. Instead, it shows the first word of the SMS as the sender.
This happens when the length of sender number is less then 5 digits e.g. if you receive a text "test message" from 224 or 2244 then instead of showing 224 or 2244 as sender's number, it will show "test". I don't know what these kind of number's are called in other countries but we call it SHORTCODE. I've also heard people calling it SNO. Normally these messages are sent from the mobile operators or VAS providers.
No matter what I do, I can't see the sender number. I've tried using Handcent and ChompSMS. I've checked the message details etc but nothing helped. I've even tried using different ROM's. Currently I'm using Cyanogen's latest ROM.
I hope someone out there knows how to solve this problem and will help me as well Thanks in advance.
Guys! Has anyone else faced this problem? Looking forward to your replies...
I haven't rooted but when I used to have problems with custom builds on my g1 I would usually just wipe and flash...that fixed my problems almost every time
I had this problem even in the stock ROM. It's not specific to custom ROM.
Super weird happenings of late on my HD2. It's worked perfectly since I bought it when it first came out. But for the first time today I was trying to text someone and I got the following message: message undeliverable you must first activate messaging with provider
I found this thread where it suggested doing a hard reset and I did. I've also tried to task 29, flash various radios, and still I'm not allowed to text this one particular person without getting and error. It works fine for everyone else, super strange. I'm open to suggestions if anyone has any. Thanks in advance.

p.s. If it matters I'm running Kumar's latest 2.10 with HTC Messaging
with the 2.10.xxx radio. The carrier is Tmobile.

Have you called t-mobile about it? It really sounds like the problem is on the network end, as opposed to on your phone, even though it's just isolated to one recipient.
When you compose the message, have you tried manually entering the number instead of choosing it from your contact list?
Tried calling them...
Tried talking to a tmobile rep to no avail. They suggested trying to enter the number manually and still didn't work. I'm blown away that this is happening with only one contact. I can call them so I know it's a legit & active cell number.

Well you can try the steps (except the 8th one) in the link in my sig, they were written to address the same issue. I don't know if they'll solve your problem, but it's worth a look.
Thanks but no cigar
Thanks for the input.......I tried it but didn't work. Hope this issue doesn't expand across my contacts list.
Here's a weird one. I just found out one of my contacts hasn't been getting my texts for the last 2 weeks. I still receive his but can't send even though I do get a sent verification.
I can send to everyone else w/ no prob & he receives texts from others with no problem too.
I D/L'ed & used handcent for a while & then uninstalled it... Could that be it? WTH happened?!?!
Thanks for the help.

might be a weird question, but what phone does you friend have?
me and my friend had the same problem..i wasnt receiving his text, but he was receiving mine.
There are a few bugs in the messaging app. In your case, it sounds like your friend's phone number / name has become associated with a different phone number (within the messaging cache). So, even though your display will show your friend's name, that's not where the messages will be sent.
Try to delete all of your threads and then reboot the phone. If that doesn't work, try clearing the data for the messaging app and then reboot your phone. That should do it. If that doesn't work, you can take the most drastic step, which is to do a factory reset, but then you'll need to do a restore of your apps and other data that would get wiped out.
Secondarily, there's a slightly different bug that could be happening (one that is much more rare than the first) - which is that your friend's phone number is the same, except for the area code, as someone else in your contact list. The messaging app only looks at the last 7 digits to determine a match for the phone number, so 415-123-1234 will match 310-123-1234. This one is much more rare, but that's another possibility.
BTW, these problems are internal to a specific Android class, so it doesn't matter whether you use Handcent or the stock messaging app.
Hope this helps.
