Put it on the internal sd card in the root folder, then power off. Once off press Vol Up+Power+Home and then flash update.zip.

And you are certain that you are flashing with this update.zip ? Remember apps like RomManager also puts an update.zip in the root folder, so make sure that you are using the correct update.zip

Tried and not functional on JP2, tested root explorer, auto killer, no root achieved, either by adb or update.zip

Yes im 100% sure i am flashing the correct update.zip. It says the zip is bad? And then says flash failed.

If you think you could hang with typing some pretty long instructions using terminal emulator, it can be done manually. It's not for the faint of heart... and if you typed in the wrong bml and screw up your phone, it wouldn't be my fault.
If you can hang with that, then cool, I could post some instructions. All this is just so much easier though with the one click method.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
Ok how long is it and how do I do it
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
OK...
Firstly, root the phone with z4root from the market. Also get Astro file manager and Android Terminal Emulator from the market while you're there. Connectbot can also be used as a terminal.
Download the one click root 1.4.0 from noobnl to your phone. Extract the contents using Astro file manager. Copy the following files and put them on the root of your sdcard:
redbend_ua
zImage
Now open the terminal app, and type the following commands exactly:
Code:
su
cat /sdcard/redbend_ua > /data/local/tmp/redbend_ua
chmod 755 /data/local/tmp/redbend_ua
/data/local/tmp/redbend_ua restore /sdcard/zImage /dev/block/bml8
Your phone will reboot after the flash.
Remember to type the commands exactly.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
OK, if you want to cleanup afterwards, go back into terminal and type the following commands:
Code:
su
rm /data/local/tmp/redbend_ua
I will encourage anyone who reads this to not play with redbend_ua unless you know what you are doing. These instructions will work if done exactly to the letter.
Once again, I take no responsibility if you hose your phone.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
Also, make a backup with ClockworkMod after you install it, so you have your current rom saved, just in case.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
Download rom manager, then use rom manager to download clockwork mod, then use astro which is a free app available in the market which is very useful, to open the sd card folder, then go to clockwork mod folder then copy recovery-update.zip and paste it to the root of your sd card and rename it just update. It's already a zip file so you don't have to type.zip. Now reboot into stock recovery and apply update.zip. Does not work with froyo. But if you down load the clockwork redirect, then you can install that once you get into clockwork recovery after you flash a froyo rom before you reboot. But using adb to flash the permanent clockwork kernel is the best way.....try this......update.zip method:
1. boot into ClockworkMod Recovery
2. Apply : http://www.sdx-downloads.com/devs/noobnl/clockworkmod2.5.1.0update-fixed.zip

Well , it's not totally locked down. You can access it (Read and write) if you boot into recovery. Not the smoothest solution but it works. Also there is AUFS but i don't think i have gotten that to work at all. Maybe it needs to be enabled, haven't really checked but i boot into recovery when i need to change something.
You can change the /system permission with a terminal emulator as Better Terminal Pro on the phone or by the phone connected to your pc via
Code:
> adb shell
doing in both cases:
Code:
# chmod -R 777 /system
when you restart the phone, /system will be reset to the original 755 permissions.
thanks for the response guys

If you have written the command exactly as you report is obvious that the os return an error. try to write as i did... (with blanks in between)
of course your phone had to be passed the Unrevoked 3.21 procedure!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=701
Anyway if you are not very much concerned in linux shell commands, i would suggest you to wait another more automatic method.

You can enable AUFS in Jacob's latest kernel by typing "aufs --enable" in a terminal emulator app in android, and then reboot the phone.

ADB help
Hey, just a few questions. I'm brand new to ADB tools.
I got my cmd prompt to show me the serial of my device using adb devices. Im sure this means my adb tools are working. Ive only installed SDB tools and platform tools.
Do I need to download the 2.2 tools?
The problem is when I type in the first cmd i get a operation error.
2nd question is how do I get all of your gps.config code into the cmd prompt. Do I place the file somewhere on my computer for it to be recognized in your second cmd step.
Thanks in advanced.

Ive tried a lot of different ways to get it to work and I think ive gotten to the point where it might be something else other than my commands. I just get a mountperation not permitted. The following is an example of what I typed. The $ sign was created after I typed in adb shell.
1 "adb shell
2 $mount -o remount,rw /dev/block/stl9 /system
3 mountperation not permitted"
Tell me I did something wrong.
You need to "su" before you try and mount -_-

I messed around with that for awhile and I think I got a little further. I seem to still get a little stuck after I mount.
1. /android-sdk/platform-tools>adb shell
2. $su
3. #mount -o remount,rw /dev/block/stl9 /system
4. mount -o remount,rw /dev/block/stl9 /system
5. #
On line 4 the cmd prompt just spits that back out at me and it ends up back at # again. How do I know it mounted and how do I begin the pushing process. My gps.conf file is in my platform-tools folder. Thanks!
Throw me a bone. Im so close! I can feel it!
How do I get gps.conf file?
link in OP just takes me to a page with a lot of text-No download.
Right click and click save as or save link as. It should automatically name it as gps.conf

[HOW TO] Flashing ClockworkMod via ADB

So was helping someone flash ClockworkMod via ADB in another thread, just thought if I made a topic for it, everyone can see it so if people have any issues they can always use this method instead.
Anyway, here are the instructions:
The 'flash_image' is within the attached zip file! Use the file within the zip file, NOT the zip file itself
The 'recovery.img' is your chosen recovery file, get this off ClockworkMods website or if you have a copy use that. Then when flashing the recovery image where ever it says 'recovery.img' replace that with the name of the recovery file.
Put the recovery image and the flash_image on the root of your C drive.
So,
(make sure you're in the command prompt and have changed directory to where the adb file is)
adb push c:\flash_image /sdcard/
adb push c:\recovery.img /sdcard/
adb shell
su
mount -o remount, rw /system
cp /sdcard/flash_image /system/bin
cd /system/bin
chmod 777 flash_image
flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img
It has now been flashed successfully
Hope this is of use to some people
Thanks! Very helpful.

You need to install drivers for fastboot if you use Windows. Sometimes you might need to unplug the usb, then plug it back in again & try fastboot again.

What's the point in using fastboot to flash clockworkmod, it's just another way of doing it, some may prefer other ways (yeah via rom manager is a lot easier i know) but spread the knowledge, may be of use to some people.

You don't need your phone to be rooted to use fastboot, it's a method for new stock roms that have all the common root exploits fixed.
So, what's the point in this method when using Rom Manager is much easier? If you've already rooted your phone then this has to be one of the hardest possible ways to install clockworkmod.

I was never able to get fastboot working for my blade, always had driver issues, yet adb was fine. So I was able to use this method to flash and try the clockworkmod recovery touch that was released for us (turned out to be useless haha) but that couldn't be done via rom manager (well yeah, but you had to pay and i'm a poor student) so that's an example of when it could be useful.
point aside this is just another way, I just want people to learn as i am here to learn too.
Permission Denied
I need to flash CWM recovery using this adb method since I dont have data on the phone(Videocon Zeus V7500.. a clone of Commtiva Z51).
I have all the files in the right places but when I put the first command I get the following error :
I:\>adb push c:\flash_image /sdcard/

What permissions do I have to grant?
Try adb push c:/flash_image /sdcard/flash_image

I got it to work and have flashed CWM recovery now

[Q] Stuck in recovery mode

Hello every one,
I'm trying to root my Nexus 4 and I messed up. Can't boot the phone except in recovery mode in TWRP. If a try to boot I got ''Google'' on a black screen and that's it. Don't know what to do from there.

Any advice to where to start from?

I followed a procedure (in french) and got stock on these lines:
Installation de SuperSU et Busybox :
Vous êtes sur TWRP
Sur le smartphone faites : Wipe > Advanced Wipe > Dalvik Cache (case cochée) > Cache (case cochée) > Swipe to Wipe
Sur le smartphone faites : Mount > System (case cochée)
Wasn't able to wipe Dalvik and after that and for some reasons was not able to connect to the phone from the Windows 7 computer. I'm not certain of what happen after, I probably erase important files on the Nexus with the TWRP menu.
This is what I got when booting in safe mode
Sounds like you wiped your system and internal sd card and now don't have anything to boot into. You could use adb to push a rom zip to your internal sd and install it with twrp. Or you could sideload it with twrp. Or you could flash the factory image and start all over.

Where you on a particular rom before or just stock?
Edit, this is from the development forum. It's stock 4.4.4. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=50453541
Edit, edit, also, when you flash super su you don't need to do the wipes your French procedure told you to do. Just flash super su in twrp, use the install.

Well, don't know what to do at this moment.
1. Should I try to complete the '' french'' procedure? I tried to continue with those command:
adb push busybox /system/xbin
adb push supersu.zip /sdcard
adb shell
chmod 04755 /system/xbin/busybox
/system/xbin/busybox --install /system/xbin/
exit
But got a error message at chmod :
chmod 04755 /system/xbin/busybox /system/xbin/busybox --install /system/xbin/
unknown option -- install
BusyBox v1.21.1-jb bionic (2013-07-25 21:23 +0100) multi-call binary.
Usage: chmod [-R] MODE[,MODE]... FILE...
Each MODE is one or more of the letters ugoa, one of the
symbols +-= and one or more of the letters rwxst
-R Recurse
Then I pushed the mako_Kitkat.zip and supersu and try to install from TWRAP but both failed. Is there an order to do it?

I'm not sure why the rom you tried to flash failed. You should flash the rom first and then super su. I think at this point I'd flash the factory image. Just download it and extract it. Then double click on the flash-all.bat with your phone booted into the bootloader and connected to your usb port. You'll then need to flash the twrp recovery image in fastboot to get twrp back on your phone.

I'm not sure to understand what do you mean by flashing the TWRP recovery image. I will have to reinstall TWRP on the phone after that? Restart all the procedure I did first?

If you flash the factory, yes, you'll have to start all over

It's done, thanks a lot for your help. It was easier for me on a Linux system. I didn't root it this time. I just want to know if it will resolve the problem I had with the phone (closing randomly and at the end wasn't even able to open it)
