i dont why my vibrant is lagy i mean its 1ghz procesoor i should't lag at all. iphone 3gs was faster. but when i set to factory default it works good again. but than after day or two it lags. please help....
You should do a search first, it has been discussed before, read this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=727279 hope it helps.
On a second note, this is the DEVELOPMENT section... questions about anything goes in Vibrant GENERAL forum.

I have yet to have any lag of any kind....
Also this is the developers section. This post belongs in the general section over here

hope you phone stops lagging
Same problem here. Runs great for a while but now it lags. Did a factory reset and it helped a bit. Also cannot get into the hard reset menu after root.
-Power down phone
-Hold Volume down key
-Press and release power button
Correct?
Gets me nowhere.....phone boots up as usual.
While in the phone settings -> Privacy -> Reset. That will erase everything, except what is on your SD card (both of them) and if you rooted, the root files.

Thn you're out of luck for now. By simply moving app data storage, all lag is fixed, nothing harmful is really done. Rooting is easy And you could unroot it in minutes, your only option for now.

Could you post the way to move app data storage? I've been out of the Android game for a bit and don't remember all the ADB commands.
Also, please move this to General... not meant for Development
Just applied the fix...I get 1600+ on quadrant now. =D
Is there any way to apply this via terminal? I already have more than 130mb of app data so i'd be referring to method 2.

How did you get 1600+ on the Quadrant test??? I get in the range of 790-890
I found that clearing application caches helped a lot. I use CacheMate, but you must be rooted. There is also an option to clear cache from recovery menu, but I'm not sure what it does.
which fix did you exactly appt to get 1600? I normally average around 930 with the fix that moves app data to nand.

After searching the forums and the internet in general, I was unable to find anybody that knew how to get into safe mode on the SGS Vibrant. In an effort to help a friend with a FC loop from hell, I have persisted until I discovered how it's done.
Power up the phone and start pressing the capacitive buttons. As soon as they light up during the boot up process, usually once the video of the 'S' begins, press and hold MENU & HOME all the way through the boot process until you see SAFE MODE appear in the bottom left of the screen. At that point you can release the buttons and you will now be in safe mode. This is similar to safe mode on Windows PCs. It will load just the bare minimum to get the system up and running. This is helpful if you have some rogue app crashing the system or as in my case, a launcher that went into a FC loop and wouldn't break free. To return the phone to normal, just reboot.
**Be aware that any widgets you had on your screens will need to be thrown to the trash and replaced upon restart.**
Great tip!
Thanks.
Wow... thanks. Wasn't even aware safe mode existed......

I have tried this on Eugene's JPM 2.2, but it does not work.
Is this only on 2.1 ROMS and what build specifically are you referring to?

Thanks! Glad I could contribute something useful to the community. I know XDA has upped my level of knowledge in a year's time.
please delete or lock this thread. it doesnt make sense anymore.
the biggest problem i had with the XXJPM was the battery drain so i switched to XWJPF which i think is a recent release but i am not so sure. i did not have any issues with the GPS but the sound lag was there when the screen is on sleep mode.
i installed the fugumod kernel and set the minimum core speed to 333 so it does not fall below that. and never had any sound issues and sound was great too. u can also set the core to performance (OC 800 kernel version and the speed stays at 800 all the time) but that will drain your battery in no time. just my experience
i tried kyrillos and its an awesome ROM, the only con was that i could not change themes. i am yet to try the INDROID but as always i dont like a lot of apps in any custom ROM so i remove them. kyrillos only had a few but looks like indroid has a whole load of em
i'd like to see someone build a rom with the
original theme (but able to install themes)
basic apps
newer market
newer map app
deodexed
a2sd
lagfree
CWM recovery
5 lockscreen mod
and all the function that comes with building a custom rom
the rest can be achieved with a custom kernel i guess
this would be awesome!!!!
p.s. the dev's at xda are doing an awesome job keeping us happy, they deserve a lot more than thank you's and i believe we are here today coz the devs here are doing something extraodinary thant the devs at samsung.
you guys are the best of the best.
hmm, interesting, a found a lot of people have trouble about clicking sound when making conversation. OC is ok, but.. why do that, processor itself will work how it must, i mean, if overclock it will drain too much battery, if underclock it will be slow. i only expirienced delay problem when receiving incoming call, it's a little bit slow, but else is ok.
today i got official upgrade for my galaxy 3. it was jp9, 2.2, not 2.2.1. i have problems now with back button when in contacts and when unlocking the phone. i have to press back or menu key few times to turn on the screen, but home key works fine. strange thing.. why they put bugged version of froyo to official update over kies..

I agree with Clarkkov..I too have been using XXJPM for about 2 months now & there are no problems..the battery life is great..I easily get 3 days usage on a full charge. The 2 small issues I saw are:
1. Camera app. sometimes crashes.
2. Back button does not work in Contacts app., you have to click Home button to close it.
Does XXJPN resolve these issues..?

The camera thing is a known issue (there is also a fixed camera.apk without that problem in the apps section). It has to do with gps/location as it tries to geotag the pictures you take.
I also can't confirm the back-buttons issue. I've been running XXJPM for a while and back button works just fine! Try a wipe (or at least clear cache) and see if that makes a difference...

Are you using Launcher Pro?
If yes kill the Contacts app ,and add again the shortcut in your launcher by long-pressing the icon.
Now when you open the app it must work normally.

Hello folkz,
I`m proud to present a solution to fix the reload Launcher problem. Must work with all firmwares (still I recommend I9300XXBLFB) or the latests !
First, how can I check if I get this problem if I didnt noticed it?
1. Long press Home button
2. Task manager
3. Go to RAM
4. Clear memory
5. Press Home button
6. See how all home reloads, the launcher is reload
Solution:
1. Take out Weather Clock widget http://db.tt/CY2rRwzu
2. Soft reset
3. Clear memory, surprize.. no reload
Video to prove
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hOUfWtHQ0Ec
Tip:
A better Weather Clock you find at Beautiful Widgets, and the problem is gone
This solution will work much better, no more often reloads.. only when your RAM is highly overused.
So basically you're saying that LFB fixes the redraw problem and all you have to do is flash LFB?

At least he was right with one thing. In I9300BVALF4 after a wipe and a factory reset I can not reproduce the TW reload.

1. Long press Home button
2. Task manager
3. Go to RAM
4. Clear memory
5. Press Home button
6. See how all home reloads, the launcher is reload
Method1) Now let`s fix this by:
1. Flash with odin I9300BVALF4 (see note point 2)
2. Go in recovery and wipe cache + data/factory (see note point 1)
3. Do initial settings, restart phone
4. Test launcher problem, seems fixed
Method2) Ok, now more of you will say but I dont need an older firmware, I need latest one or my country/carrier specific one (read note 6), NO PROBLEM, here what to do:
1. Flash with odin I9300BVALF4 (see note point 2)
2. Go in recovery and wipe cache + data/factory (see note point 1)
3. Do initial settings, restart phone
4. Flash I9300XXBLFB (latest UK firmware, see note point 3), or flash any wanted ROM
5. Do not wipe data/factory reset
6. Latest firmware installed, test launcher problem, seems fixed
Notes:
1.If you have a newer firmware after flash it may give you erros like X process stopped.. no problem take out battery for 5 sec. Put battery back and dont turn on, go in recovery mode (vol up+home button+power button)
Wipe cache partition, then wipe data/factory reset, reboot system now
2. About I9300BVALF4 + download
branded (only logo and browser icon with yellow, no additional apps)

3. About I9300XXBLFB + download
latest firmware from UK, unbranded, many fixes and Allshare Cast

More info read here, thanks to Faryaab (+ how to flash with odin)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1646610
4. Kies will not support anymore updates, but will connect.. because of different CSC. Anyway who updates with kies? Odin much safe and better. Thats all..
5. This will not void your warranty, all are stocks ROM and you can get to yours whenever you want.
6. Dont know if will work with all country/carrier specific last firmware, but I do know that with UK last firmware is really working.
7. Video to prove (specially for flamers made)

2)
Change launcher oom priorities.
Hmmm, which way is easier, makes more sense and isn't stupid?

And what's all this about noobs??

so your saying clearing ram causes a redraw... of course it does! Your clearing the bloody ram! Jesus

No, that you can test if the problem exist to your firmware.
Of course and not of course, what to be ? because on my video is not reloading the launcher.. dont know, you guys when post did you ever read ?
If reload when clear memory, is clear that you have problems. For example enter on browser Opera, make a big download, open also a radio, camera, and play a game, for example asphalt 6.. now press home button, to see how is reload your launcher.. wow.. without clearing the memory
That is the fastest and small test to see if have problems or not.
There is no need to flash all sorts of firmwares and jump through burning hoops, all people need to do is change the oom priority of the launcher.

Don't change web top resolution. Leave it at 720 at 60hz.Otherwise the phone starts glitching bad when you leave web top.
Sometimes there is a green bar on bottom of screen in camera.
Sometimes the phone takes a couple seconds to wake up.
The default CPU governor is pretty jumpy. On demand works better.
That's all I've noticed so far.

Just confirming with others that Ramfix.zip works for non-US models.
I flashed with ICS and Ram fix CWM, install vendor.img with fast boot and now it works very stable i did not get any FC or random reboot
For rooting, simply install SuperSu, if it doesnt work:
1. Download unlock root http://www.mediafire.com/?p2wgclhox6lq218
2. Root using it, very simply, just install, plug phone and run
3. Download SuperSu and any root explorer
4. Delete superuser.apk from /system/app
5. Install superuser from market
6. Uninstall superuser from market
This will get you rooted with SuperSu (better for ICS)

i second that, i configure the apn, when i want to use the mobile data the phone reboots, works fine without data, wifi only.
Radio seems Funky
Random reboots and screen scrambling, phone gets hot. Also, screeching noise from bluetooth hands free device at times.
wifi prolem
wifi not working on mi atrix4g at&t
some solution
Phone seems stable until I place it onto the webtop. Once I open up the webtop lid, the picture is of the Android UI, out of phase, but not the webtop interface. Pull the phone out, and the UI is no longer smooth, visible tearing artifacts. After a few minutes, it reboots on its own, and either works or gets stuck in a boot loop (requiring a battery pull).
Google Now for ICS FC's, so don't try.
EDIT: It works, needs a reboot though.
Confirming tearing artifacts (same as corneliusm) on turning screen on by pressing power button while phone is connected to computer (USB cable). Was worried that my phone is dying....
By now you may have heard about Axon 7 killing music playing app issue, if you haven't experienced it yourself already. For me I'm having a similar or at least related issue. The phone would kill my game when I turn off and on screen. After some investigation, below is my observation
1. Doesn't happen all the time. After a fresh reboot, no killing for a while... but after some time using the phone, it starts to happen
2. Not app-specific: After playing a game heavily for a while, the killing starts... only for that specific game. If I play a different game, then only that new game gets killed.
This have driven me kinda crazy. A look at adb logs reveals this:
12-22 12:45:34.229 I/ActivityManager( 1752): Killing 23881:jp.co.happyelements.toto/u0a122 (adj 0): excessive high power cost :jp.co.happyelements.toto
What the actual f***??? Why would ZTE kill my "excessive high power cost" process *after* I turn on the screen (and not when I turn off screen, which was 5 seconds earlier)??? Has nobody in ZTE thought about that apps that has "high power cost" may not be actually "excessive" but totally within reasons and fall into the category of normal every day use?
And no amount of changing the native "power saving" options stopped this behavior. Back in the days I remember there was some root/xposed module that would whitelist apps from being killed by the OS but I couldn't remember the name. So now I have to ask help on how to deal with this idiocy.
Edit: My apologies... I just noticed I posted in the wrong section... mods please move the thread to Q&A section if possible. Thanks a lot.
is there seriously no solution?
This is intolerable

If it was that easy, then I wouldne be here asking about it would I?
Yep, have the same problem after trying the same things. Several apps (2 of which I use for monitoring blood sugar levels) will randomly stop updating until either re-launched or the phone is rebooted. I have disabled all power manager options to no avail. Whatever power management system ZTE has implemented, it's FAR too aggressive.
Disclaimer - I haven't pulled logcats, but your description of the problem matches mine exactly. Here's hoping for a fix in Nougat and/or a custom ROM, otherwise I'm moving to a different phone. The A7 has great hardware but the stock software is a bloated mess.
B27 does not have this issue (which is why I downgraded to it). Might be a solution for you until the next upgrade releases.

@whoiswes If you are talking about the xdrip app. I too want this app to work with this phone. I tried CM13 and had the app work for hours then at night it stopped working. I only tried it for one night so didn't try different settings. At least this is a positive sign once CM13 becomes more stable or CM14 is released. I heard the app won't work with B27 either.
Found a solution, though it needs root
Code:
pm disable com.zte.powersavemode
then reboot
This totally disables the power saving menu though

No because it has nothing to do with powermanager.

I made this xposed module specifically to fix the problem described in OP. If you have the exact problem, including the logcat message, then the module should fix it.
If you dont have the exact problem, including the logcat mesage, then go ****post in another thread.
My solution is to whitelist all apps in:
settings -> energy management -> app energy management -> option button (upper right) -> app protection list -> option button -> set all to off
But the problem is that this setting resets everytime you install/delete an app
Edit: Ok i just tried out manually setting all apps to "off", now it doesn't reset the apps when installing an app but the new app ist automatically allowed to be cleaned. So you still have to disallow cleaning for each installed app manually.
Just an FYI, I updated to the Cyanogenmod/Lineage 13 Beta by UDev and one of my problem apps has been running for 18 hours without a single hiccup. Trying the second problem app later today. Not a solution for this problem but from my perspective it definitely pinpoints Power Manager as the culprit.
@borijess - yeah, Nightwatch and xDrip are the 2 apps that I've had trouble with, and so far Nightwatch is working great on CM13 (1228 build).
