does the Dell streak with 1.6 Android support double tap zooming via browsing?
I cant seem to get it to work, I have a HTC HD2 and double tap works there without a problem

No I do not think so mate it has the pinch zooming, it shows you how to do it in the user manual

Am i being very naive here? I assumed my streak would make video calls out of the box but i cant find the option for it. Is this something android is lacking? My touch hd did it straight from the dailer.

Yeah, I don't think the Streak can, the only time I've seen the front camera being used for video calls is with it was used with other apps like Fring I think (I could be wrong though....not really tried myself).
EDIT: Oops, someone beat me to it
Im reluctant to sign up to fring. is there a reason why streak cant make video calls natively? My last 4 phones could?

Dell didn't ads the support for this in the dialer. So you have to wait for someone to either port over one or create one... Other than that your options are bring and qik, which doesn't support the front can yet but I emailed them and got a reply about two weeks ago saying they're working on it

Anyone have a better option for Facebook then the Android Market place app? It keeps having an error when i try to do mobile uploads and in general is not very good. Thanks in advance
Uploads of pictures? it gives me trouble from time to time. Just wish it didn't direct to the mobile site other than that it is as good as iphone version

Yes Facebook is not the best. I have no problems uploading images, but the no landscape mode for the home screen, as well as not being able to click youtube links really annoys me.
I think facebook just needs to buckledown on this. With android being the most sold phone os in the past 6 months... yeah facebook lets update that app, becasuse right now it sucks.

Try the app 'bff photo' for uploading pictures & video works very well. Videos cant be uploaded from the web page using phone. But as fazzibear said the web site is best as screen is big enough.

Just got it. Installed fine. Dell restore app worked great. Am I imagining it or is the resolution on 2.2 better than 2.1. Mine just appears easier on the eye

works perfect smooth...good job dell!
Everything went well here too, didn't lose any apps so didn't have to use restore, even ADW still works (used stage for about 10 seconds before thinking yuck! and switching). Quite a few updates to go through on the market.

Hopes crushed.
Front camera works in camera app, but not in Fring.
Tango uses the main camera so you get a nice picture of the wall, but it does work!

Ive been knocking around these forums for da while....I was a big WM user. I jumped into Android on the Streak, and I just have a couple of questions, almost mundane, but ive searched everywhere and cant find a straight answer on two matters....
1. With 2.1/2.2 does the home screen do native portrait to landscape rotation natively?
2. The keyboard on my stock At&t Streak (1.6) doesnt seem to do multitouch very well, is that something that 2.1/2.2 solves?

QDL repair tool
Search here for the QDL repair tool, FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS to the letter getting the drivers loaded, one click, (for me 174 seconds), wait for the dell logo to go away (could take a couple minutes, up to 5) and VOILA! 2.2 (309) installed.
Good idea to do a fastboot then select reflash, then download the 318 update file, allow it to update (keeps all of your settings), and you're done.
Facebook webpage seem to think I have a Desire HD!
At the bottom of the website it says 'Download facebook for your Desire HD'
It did however say Dell Streak on 1.6
I'm not worried about it just wonder why.

Mine alsosays the same thing. When I first revived my Streak when I was still on 1.6 it recognized it as the Streak. But from your post it looks like your on 1.6 still so it's probally something on Facebooks end.

I have noticed, while using the stock 1.6 ROM, that facebook always opens in mobile mode. After I tap the "Full Site" link and get transferred... the page is ALWAYS old! I click on "most recent" but nothing happens, so I end up stuck on an old page.
I have found a workaround.
After I click "most recent" the screen doesn't update however the addressbar DOES change. Next I pull up a favorite website (ex.MustangsForums etc.) and go to that page. Once on that second page I pull up the history. I click on the facebook page that I just left. The browser then sends me to the "most recent," properly updated facebook page.
It's a pain but it works. I'm on my 5th day with Streak (& android), with stock 1.6 ROM & default web browser.
Facebook recognizes it as a desire because that is the 2.2 image that steve has modified for the streak

I had the same on mine using official o2 2.2 so it's not just a streakdroid thing. The stock browser is rubbish at avoiding mobile pages. Typing about:debug into the address bar (nothing will appear to happen) then going into settings and uastring will allow you to change the default browser mode, but this didn't change much for me. The best way to get the full Facebook is to use skyfire and set it to desktop mode. The bookmark you use can take some fiddling to get the full page and "most recent" on your wall, the bookmark I have saved is http://www.facebook.com/?sk=lf
