Does anyone have the latest radio? I guess 3vo doesnt have a radio update. So i did a radio downgrade hoping my signal would improve but it got worst. Now if i reflash with 3vo the radio does not get changed. If anyone has 3.47.25.48m or higher...please share. I currently have 3.46.25.29....which is not good as the one i had before...just any radio update....please

Move to general as not rom development.

I have just upgraded the radio to 1.64.08.21 and I'm getting incredibly poor reception. In addition I seem to be unable to connect to 3G network (Smartone-vodafone). Unfortunately I forgot to write down my default radio rom version. If anyone has a OEM Cruise, please let me know the radio version or if someone can recommend me a version. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Too bad my friend, now even if you try to revert your Radio back to the factory you will continue to receive the same poor reception.
I have changed three devices doing this, learn't my experience the hard way. Read my Thread here.

I hope Jibreil is mistaken on his point for your sake, but he seems pretty sure. I have a new Cruise and the stock radio version is 1.58.21.23. Good luck...

Just flash the original ROM and after flashing, Hard Reset before setting up your device and you'll get back your original radio and reception quality.
Thanks for the replies, I'll try out your suggestion regarding the stock ROM and let you guys know!

EDIT: I'm quite surprised that your factory radio is a lower version than my factory radio.
Unfortunately, flashing to the shipped WWE ROM and performing a hard reset did not work. This was not my original shipped ROM, but I am unable to find a working HK CHT Cruise ROM, maybe someone could point me in the right direction?
I have no problem in using 1.64.08.21 both in HK & Mainland China. Reception is as good as the original shipped 21.23 version.
I have Radio version: 3.37.75
Can I flash a ROM without doing anything with the Radio and only flash the ROM?
I was able to but later did flash the radio for gps but the answer is yes you can
Also this would be better posted in titan upgrade

Yeah, I just realized when I came back to check on the thread that HEY, I DIDN'T INTEND ON PUTTING IT IN THAT SECTION.
I was just wondering if i can update the radio software/firmware on my phone to a newer one without having to install a newer rom and if i can what is the best version for use with O2-UK. Is there also a chance it may solve the sms not being recieved issue?
I currently have 2.07 radio installed (came installed on the phone from new) and i have seen mentions of 2.10 and 2.11 radio. I've also see in the last few days somone saying they use the taiwan radio for the uk to give better signal strangth. How does that work?
Yes, it can be done...dont know the tread but will see if I can find it!
Here you have the info...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4798017&postcount=1
OK cool and thanks cfds. Now next question, whats the best version of the radio to use for O2-UK?
Hello,
I have a question. In order to use that Custom RUU to flash a new radio do I have to install HSPL or I just use it without other modifications to my phone?
Thank you!
That's a good question actually, I hadn't thought of that.

You may have a look into the related Radio thread in the HD2 ROM Development section:

Installing:
For installing a RADIO ROM you need HardSPL installed to your device.
Rename the extracted file to "RUU_Signed.nbh" and flash with the CustomRUU: it won't hardreset your device.

Where did you get that radio from? I looked in the radio thread and the newest one i could see there was 2.10.50.08_2. Also did you install the newest rilphone.dll when you flashed your radio? That also begs the question what is the newest version of that file?

Hmmm maybe it was a typo....
And it's true, the latest radio (in my case 2.10.50.08_2) works brilliantly with my O2 sim. Also, when you select a network (I use Energy's roms) Select O2 PrePay. Those are the correct settings

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=669042 and no i never messed with rilphone.dll as i read it was best to leave that alone.
Thanks for the link. I've installed 1.42.hspl and the radio from the link provided so lets see what happens.
there are also 2.10.50.26_2 & 2.10.50.28_2 raidios all off them work ok on o2 but i have found 2.10.50.19_2 the best signal in my area of the uk.
this does seem to have improved my signal but if i walk round the corner from the flat to a mates house i couldn't get a 3G signal at all so we will see if this helps
Is there any difference when updating radio for nexus one?
the sticky post didnt mention about the radio for which model.
if so, can you tell me the availability for AT&T version? i'm running MCR r18 froyo rom btw...
the radio for both versions are the same. i had a tmobile version, now i have the att version.
so i can flash any radio version as long as it's for nexus one right?
i was worrying about messing up the 850mhz radio frequency...

Why would you want to flash the radio? Poor 3G reception? Dropped calls?
Radio should be updated when installing Froyo I think, this is not optional
i recently switch to radio 2.15 from 2.10 and im still having network connection issues... little to no reception while everyone else on tmo *which im on* has atleast 3 bars should i have a specific radio for my region or is it rom dependant? im running i believe pure droid 1.7 gingerbread 2.3.2 and help is appreciated
trial and error.
is it possible to check radio version in android, as well as to change/update it?
I wonder if my radio version could be the source of my gps woes..
Maybe just check what the chef of your rom suggests.. that mostly helps. Or than try some just on your own to figgure out which is best for you..;-)
remeber andrew the rom your using usually has a specific radio so check the first page of the rom thread and the dev will usually tell you what radio , cwm , magldr you need for any given rom
