Hey guys, first post here, but I just got a HD2 today and it's locked to T-Mobile, but I use AT&T. So far I tried htc-unlocker.org and unlock2go.com and both of them said the IMEI is not in the database. Does anyone know a website that can unlock this thing for SURE? I searched around but all I found is people saying to search google, which I did and I failed 3 times so far
edit: nevermind, got it unlocked...had to pay $34.99 but it only took about an hour. htc-unlocker.org new method.
dude thats overpriced, i tried all there old methods too and they failed so i ended up going with blowfish06 on ebay and he did the new method and got mine unlocked for $26 in 20 minutes.
Anyone know of anywhere else to buy a code? I just received my HD2 via UPS and went to unlock2go.com and its true they were unable to unlock it! So I will get a refund in 3 business days. htc-unlocker.org wants $44.99 to unlock my new HD2 using the "new" method. (they will use the htc database instead of the tmobile database) Please offer any suggestions, I can't use my new Hd2 on At&t until I unlock it =(
Code:
cgi.ebay.com/UNLOCK-Code-T-Mobile-USA-HTC-HD2-Leo-T8585-Touch-/130414271061?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1e5d4bda55
seems to be what people suggest using. i CAN confirm that the "new database" method is what's needed to unlock it though, so as long as the unlocker uses this "new" database, it'll be successful.

The guy who I got it from had Unlocked in the title. But when I put my Rogers SIM card in it says Network is locked. Please input unlock code.
Any cheap fast ways of getting rid of this? Thanks!

UPDATE:
OK. So I tryed an unlocker from ebay twice (I didnt notice that the default email for my paypal account was an old invalid email of mine, but they should get a failure to deliver notice and refund my money, or so I hope) and I got a message back that read:
Hello - This is an automated message from NewMobileFreedom.com to let you know your unlock code is now available on our online tracking system.
Model: Wing
Code: NOT FOUND
Provider: T-Mobile
They say if they cant unlock it they will refund my money back. Does this mean no one can unlock me phone???
What should I do? Has anyone got a better way of getting this phone unlocked??? Thanks!
EDIT: I don't know if it matters, but the IMEI on the box is a bit different than the one from the phone (*#06#) the box has 15 digits and the phone show two extra digits - so 17 in total. Should I have given the 17 digit on???

i don't know if that will work because he doesn't have t-mobile ( and they aren't available in canada ) that's why he's trying to unlock the phone so he can use Roger's Wireless.
I'm using their web chat right now trying to get it from them... this could take a while. Where's Mitnick when you need him?
*Update* I got shutdown.
you could always purchase the unlock...
or is that out of the question.
No, I just did that. I'll get the code in the next day or two...

Hello all. I got a TMobile Wing from US (I'm from South America), but it's SIM Unlocked.
Anyone knows where can I get a "unlock code key generator" where I can input my IMEI and it gives me my SIM Unlock Code!???
I'm not willing to pay U$ 35!!!!!!!!!, because the phone already cost me a fortune here.
After reading the WIKI, I saw that at this point there's no way (except paying to some obscure website) to unlock the wing.
My points are:
1) How hard can It be to unlock it, because:
1) the website can do that, and I'm pretty sure they're not using the official way.
2) I only need SIM unlock. When I use my SIM card, it asks for an unlock code. I'm assuming that the unlock code is a function of my IMEI number.
If there are code generators for other HTC models, how different the algorithm can be? And, of course, the guys from that website most probably have broke it.
3) I used to crack 68k code long time ago on my Commodore Amiga. Is there any emulator or something? A debugger like softice? Who's working on the unlock code generator? Can I help?
I've been going thru the herald forums for months now, and I have yet to hear of anyone being able to bypass SIM lock on the herald ...
I'm sure if you could figure out how to unlock, it would be much appreciated by the whole community.
i second that.... hope you find a way man... because ive been itching to get my wing working... 35 dollars for a code? that would be too much... some say they can get it from t-mobile for free, you just have to contact them... the problem with our situation (yes i bought mine from ebay also), we do not have a contract with them. i tried it already and they were not willing to help unless i am the subscriber myself asking for the unlocking. i tried contacting the person i bought my phone from but i got no answer.

I was Olipro's tester for his hard-spl, and after it was done, my O2 terra was sim unlocked.
I have no idea how it happened, though
Hi guys!
I've been reading (and searching) around the android device forums (dream, magic, hero) and I still can't find a helpful entry on where to unlock ng Smart Telecom locked (Philippines) Magic A6161 unit. I've tried 2 sites but both issued non working system / network unlock codes. This is really depressing.
I read within the Hero forums regarding the unlock method using a modified serial - mini usb cable. will this work for the magic? Or better yet, can anyone help me unlock the unit? Thanks so much
shoktong
your thoughts on this, guys?
im also encountering the same problem i have a htc magic phone locked to smart and also tried 3 different sites and all of them have a wrong code.
if you find a site that can give the correct code, can you share it?
the phone is with me for over a month now and i still can't find a website that can supply the right code.
Look for member Olipro (Legend!) he may be able to help
same problem
I also encountered the same problem.
unlock code purchased online didn't work for my Smart communication's HTC Magic. Really need alternate solution for this.
i want to use Globe sim card on my Magic, and switch my Smart sim card to other phone.
Smart don't have unlimited surfing plan, using Smart sim card on HTC magic really killing me.
Last month billing cost me PHP 26,000 (around 550 USD).
they charged PHP 10 (0.2 USD) for each internet connection. Imagine if you have more than 30 mails per day. Push a mail cost you PHP 10, and cost you another PHP 10 to read and reply. This will cost me total of PHP 20 just read and reply a mail.
Although Smart Communication provide PHP 10 / 30 min internet connection charge, but this doesn't work with push mail and using some application required internet connection.
WOW $550! That's insane!
Sorry I can't help but I have a bit of an OT question.
I'm planning to go to the Philipines this comming June and I was wondering what would be the best company for me to deal with during my visit. Since my HTC Magic is from Canada i believe the 3G bands are incompatible so really I'm looking at basic texting, airtime minutes for about a month long stay.
Any update if you have successfully unlocked your HTC Magic A6161 from Smart?
Please help us
i found a solution... you dont need to unlock the phone.
when i went to greenhills to have my phone unlocked for the 5th time and still no code available. One of the technicians offered me to use an ex sim. It looks like a generic sim card thats transparent that you put under the sim card of any brand. For me i use Globe. Try it. it costs P1200 much less compared to the price they were offering me when they said that it takes P2500 to unlock the phone.
Hope this will help!

Where I can buy it?
I write to Smart, and there say:
Dear Sir Victor,
Thank you for constantly communicating with us.
We understand your sentiments regarding your request to provide you with the network code. However as previously discussed, unlocking your handset is not encouraged so as not for you to encounter handset problems in the future.
In case you would still want to unlock your phone, any Service Centers in your location can assist you with this matter.
Sir Victor, we hope this information helps.
If you have other concerns or queries, please feel free to email us again.
Sincerely,

when i called smart they told me that they dont offer any unlocking service for the unit so i just went to greenhills shopping center. theres a place there where people sell and repair celphones. Tell them your phone is locked to smart and you have tried codes on the internet and it doesnt work. Ask for an ex sim. and try it on your phone.
Dear friends I live in Russia
we don't have "greenhills"
may be another solutions?
I'd take a look on Dealextreme
It's a China based technology shop where you can find the "smart sim", which is a generic phone unlocking card. You put it between the sim connector on your phone and the sim card you want to use, and it's supposed to unlock the phone. If you take it out, the phone remains locked, but as long as you keep it inside, the phone will act as unlocked.
The "smart sim" cards are supposed to work on several brands, and are quite inexpensive. If it works on your phone, it's a good, and very cheap, solution to the unlocking problems. There are several models, and the latest ones should be working with your phone.
Good luck.
I guess its confirmed then. You can't network unlock an HTC Magic from Smart. I just bought a code and it does not work at all. They said that they checked and double checked and the code they gave me is correct. Oh well, probably gonna sell this unit and Greenhills as a downpayment on an openline unit.
is there a program to unlock the hd2? instead of paying 30$?
No, there is not. Go to eBay and buy one of the unlocking services from there, they are ussually around 12-15USD.
i couldn't find anyone on eBay that could get the code. They said they had to go to another database and it would cost close to $30.00.
I called T-Mobile and they got me the code within a few days.
I picked up an Aria today from AT&T, got root using unrevoked3, backed up, etc. and flashed a new ROM and love it(liberated_aria_FR007_signed.zip). Do I have to do anything more to use the phone with another SIM?
I've been searching the forum for hours, as the log will prove, but I'm out of time. I'm leaving for the Philippines in a few hours. I don't have another SIM card to even see if I get the unlock screen, and won't have one until I arrive in the phils after a LONG flight.
Thanks
That's a great question and I'm really sorry I don't have the answer for you... but I'll start googling to see if I can help you find out.
Based on a quick Google search, yes you do need to unlock the phone to use it outside of AT&T's network. You should be able to get an unlock code from AT&T directly if you've had your account for longer than 3 months -- but it may take up to 3 weeks to receive that code. The first few sites I checked were asking for $35 to unlock the Aria, then I found one for $30 that will send you the code in less than 2 hours.

Good luck!
