Hi
i'm experiencing a issue in all my roms (hd2/hdmini/x1i).
if i try to sync there is a error showing up (80004005) and the phone does not even try to connect (according to logs).
i tried everything possible to fix it but still no luck.....
did any other cook ever experience this problem?
if yes, how to fix it?
edit: fixed the error in my hd2 rom successfully...

no. using all original packages from 1.36 for hdmini rom for example.
only added messaging client hotfix.
Regarding 0x80004005 error I have seen somewhere that besides:
1. Obtain the latest Pocket PC End User Update from your service provider.

I didnt see yet if i have this problem but i have had some issue with NO sync notes in ActiveSync,the problem was in MXIPKernel i did tweak it leaving some useless files, restored the original MXIPKernel and my notes are fine synchronized.
What if the problem is your computer? Windows mobile devices use a virtual network adapter for communication and antivirus/firewalls may interfere with the data transfer.

since i dont' use exchange, it's no problem for me.
but many users of my rom want to use exchange and report this issue again and again.
Change SYS, just one good way. I have it on 20273 and 20764..
I'm having the same problem with 23129 and new packages from the oboe test / sense 2.5.208. At least you're not alone lol . I'll post again if I figure out what causes the error.
edit - after spending a couple hours building and flashing 10 or 15 ROMs, I found out that a package has a .dsm and .rgu inside of the EXT\files folder (and a different .dsm in the correct location). Removing the .rgu and .dsm fixed the problem for me, but probably won't help anyone else too much (except to maybe look for malformed EXT's).

thanks for the hints. i already deleted every rgu/dsm in anyext/files.
problem is still there even on my "close to stock" hdmini rom where i use only original ext's.
any other hints are highly appreciated.
I don't use outlook that much and I never setup partnerships to my device. But today I decided I would try.
I first setup a account to outlook with one of my emails. then I realized I had not setup Outlook 2010 on my PC yet. So I created the same account on the pc.
It seemed to sync and all was fine. Then I added another account but the only mail I got was from the first account which is not one I really use. So I had hell trying to delete the first account but finally deleted the files in My documents\office and then got it to ask for another outlook data file so I selected the one from the other account. But now when my device connects It looks like it goes through all the options real quick then I get a error but a little different.
Mine is 85010014
So I don't know what to do
this problem is really driving me mad...
i could fix all my roms in no time if i would only know what's causing the issue....
many users avoid my rom just because of this damn error...

I'd say go back to the basics and do a process of "elimination". Start by cooking with half of your EXT out of the kitchen. See if u get the error... if u still do, start taking out "chunks" of EXT's until it doesnt happen anymore.
Do a lot of trial and error and see what happens. Cook a BASIC WM ROM and see if u get the error... then start adding EXT's one by one and see what happens
IF u need an exchange account, set one up with google. They offer it now.

Great glad you got it fixed. Where do you go to setup the exchange account from google? I have gmail already. Any other things you might have discovered please share.

dear all,
i have a prototype XDA Exec that's finally decided to give me a problem i can't seem to fix. i can't sign into MSN messenger anymore on it.
when i sign in it'll popup a message saying "Logon to MSN Messenger Service failed because the service is not responding. Please try again later." However it will sign out my already-connected to messenger desktop. however Hotmail seems to work fine. It's just messenger that's not working.
i've tried using another device and i can sign in just fine, so from my point of view it's obviously a problem with the aged version software i have. there's two things i can think of to resolve this. 1. update the ROM and get a newer version of the MSN messenger software which will hopefully work. 2. my version of Pocket MSN comes with an extra tab after "Switch User" under options called "Dogfood" which allows the option of logging and alteration of HTTPS and TCP server. if i could get the new working server addresses then maybe my problem'd be gone. i've been using session.mobile.msn.com for my HTTPS server and services.mobile.msn.com for my TCP server since last september and all's been fine till about 3 weeks ago. i have a feeling they've changed the address sometime in the past month or so?
does anyone have any other solutions or the abovementioned settings for me to try?
okay say i have to take the ROM upgrade option, i have a little problem, both with hardware and software. hardware wise, my prototype unit is from the early design stages, and the keyboard layout is a little different. can i remap the keyboard according to what it currently is? or do i have to apply tacky looking little labels so i can remap myself to the new keyboard? software wise, i have trouble finding something to backup my SMS that i can restore to the unit later when i'm done updating the ROM. also i'm a little worried that production ROMs may possibly not work in my device, can i backup my ROM before i upgrade?
i can upload a photo of the keyboard if any of you need it..
i've tried looking thru wiki and the forums with little success. i found a ROM backup utility @ wiki but i'm not sure if it works with WM5, as it was uploaded @ Jan '05, long before WM5 was even announced. nor is there any info about it working with WM5 or not.

I had a problem very similar to this after I upgraded my ROM recently and got the same error messages. I even posted a topic here but the answers I got didn't solve my problem.
Luckily one day, I tried to randomly sign in and couldn't so I tried something different. Under 'Options' scroll to the switch user tab and switch user and sign out completely. Also, on the SMS tab, make sure SMS forwarding to cellphone is unchecked. If asked to confirm, then hit yes and go ahead and sign out. On the Today screen try signing in again.
That should work for you hopefully, as it did the trick for me.
Let me know if you are able to download an upgraded version of Pocket MSN or MSN Messenger.

i've tried looking for an updated version of messenger with no luck either, i'm wondering if hacking the newer roms will find me a cab with messenger in it? and even if i do, will i be able to remove/uninstall the old messenger without having to hack into the ext. rom?

I must admit that I also cant be done with this pocket msn lark.....
The standard messenger on my xda2s and previous ipaqs i had worked fine and very fast to type and send the messages and also to sign on... It also told us when someone was typing a message on the other end wich is something ive never seen on this one.
On this latest messenger built into the rom its just takes forever to sign on (when it does) and alot of the time just drop connection...specially on gprs... sometimes i just have to contain myselfe with frustration just not to do something silly to the exec since i know its not its fault.

I have a Wizard not a Universal but have the same problem since I upgraded to the leaked AKU 2.2 & 2.3 roms. With the AKu 2.0 rom Messenger was working fine...
I installed the SMTP Hotfix from Microsoft but i still cant send my mails. What else can i do?
Any ideas how i cant get this working?

I also have unresolved smtp sending email problem from one of my accounts.
Email hotfix didn't help.
There'a another fix around here but I didn't try that yet.
Actually, I also use ProfiMail, excellent email client and it works no problem.
Does Profimail fully integrate and use the same database as pocketoutlook? Or would i have 2 mail programs side by side. If the second i guess i could not uses Profilmail from TF3D too.
Do you have a link to this issue in the microsoft forum. I imagine this would hard to find..

The only difference - no HTML answer/forward.
And it doesn't handle Hotmail.

Damn i think this is worth trying. I deleted recreated the account before..but it never occured to me to do a reboot after deleting it...that might be important...

I made a hardreset, installed the hotfix, setup my account. Still not working. There must be something special about my mail hosting service..at least poutlook seems to think its special since it works with other mail apps.

I have one account which was working perfectly on
Symbian UIQ platform's default Email,
ProfiMail on Symbian UIQ,
And now ProfiMail on WM .
But not on X1 default messaging.
Which works no prob with my other account as well as Hotmail...
No idea.
Yea i`m having one on GMX, working fine with the X1. And then 2 over my own webspace, with them i cant send via poutlook. But it works fine with other programs..even a java midlet on my previous phone was able to handle that. So i'm beginning to think this is a different bug.
The new firmware fixed it...for now..

No idea what it is, or how to resolve it, but i've got the same problem with sync to an exchange server, using another rom.
Probably it is something to do with MS buggy Active Sync.
Sorry, no knowledge how to resolve it... Just letting you know you are not the only one reporting it, and it is a bug in the OS as it shows on at least another WM6.5 cooked rom.

In normal activesync'ing through USB - i have read you untick all the options to sync and retick them one by one after that.
Do you want to give that a shot?
I had this problem after fully syncing once. So i read somewhere, untick all the options (Calendar, email, etc) and retick them one by one.
I dont know why, but it worked for me. So maybe give that a whirl?

Hi,
Doing this fixed it for a little while - receiving emails worked ok.
However, as soon as I tried to send/reply to an email, it went back to the same fault.
Updated a prophet to wm6.5 also get 0x80070057

Hi All... just wanted to chime in here, even though I use a Samsung Omnia. Having installed a custom 6.5 rom I'm getting the same error, so would presume it is a bug within the 6.5 build rather than any specific rom. I've seen it reported elsewhere on xda-developers that it appears to only affect those of us syncing with Ex2003 - Ex2007 seems to be OK.

'Ex2007 seems to be OK' bu I only sinc with my local outlook acc. and the issue only happens when I try to sync subfolders and/or attachments. Hope there's a solution somewhere soon.

If i sync with wifi or USB or HSDPA i always get this error.
There is only i thing that bugs me.. the very very very first time that i sync everything works like a charm, the second time sync stops..
unchecking mail seems to work, , but i want my mail..
I found some site on this issue but i lost the url.. it was a MS site stating that is was seemed to be some issue on using exchange and sharepoint..
i am trying to fnd it.. but this really s*cks..

2- save the uncheck.
3 - go back and check back again but only your calendar and save it and hit sync. Once this is done, check another one and sync and then another and sync and Hopefully this should resolve the issue for everyone who is getting an error for 0x80070057.
Please Note : check one and Sync. checking all and syncing would pop up an error again.

I just tried this, now my Activesync is not showing the error, it's not showing the error anymore, but it's not syncing either, i tried seding out a test email and it stayed in the outbox, even after syncing.
Nevermind, the error is still there.. see screenie.

I tried multiple 6.5 roms and had the same issue. I went to 6.0 and was fine and then tried 6.1 and was able to get 6.1 to work fine (using MobileVista v1.1 on my Kaiser (AT&T Tilt))
I just installed the newest build 21202 from itje on my Xperia X1a and I can confirm that this is no longer an issue in this release.
i have been using xplodes ROM and it works very ok bt after sme time the email tab on the titanium today screen stopped to respond. i tried setting up another email address bt it keeps saying 'address name in use'......does anyone know a way around this?.....

Try to flash to sun_dream's latest rom. It has a couple of new things plus updated versions for a bunch of stuff. Although, I think it is an Outlook problem rather than Titanium problem since I had that issue with the first WM6.5 release. It does not seem to be present in this build though.
Next time, please post your questions either in the Q&A section of the forum or in the corresponding thread of the rom/program you are inquiring about. All in all, please refrain from opening new threads for this kind of things and do a search instead. Thanks.

Only time I have seen that error is after using the DELETE Account on Pocket Outlook, and then trying to use the same email. If that was your case, then your only way back is with hard reset of device.
well the solution to your problem is a little app called MailAccountRepair - this issue is not a rom problem, it happens when you cause unexpected reboot for the system, and if the account was in use it remains hidden, this application unhides it and makes the account usable. This issue was here since WM5 and will be here until WM7 arrive (hopefully MS fill do something about it in 7)

This is my first post as I usually never have any problems sorting my issues out due to this great forum.
I am using HTC Touch HD (Originally UK Orange now flashed with [ROM][WWE][22.08.2009] Miri WM 6.5 23017 :: MANILA 2.5 :: REV 7.1

I sync my calendar and contacts with gmail and basically it is clear that when adding contacts to the favourites screen this causes an error. The error is the one described in the other thread.
"There has been a change on your server that requries you to re-synchronize all items on your device. You may lose changes since your last successful sync"
I have tried all the things suggested in the previous thread and have also tried using NuevaSync but again I still get the same error message.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Is there a registry setting to disable the field that the favourites screen is using and syncing with?
Any help would be much appreciated.

since this is your first post, we'll cut you some slack. your best bet for finding a solution (if you haven't done so already) is to post your issue/concern/problem in Miri's ROM thread. he is very good about responding to users and reported issues. hope you get your issue resolved.

So it would now be pointless to post in MIRI's rom thread as this isn't only happening on his ROM.
Any other suggestions or a point in the right direction would be good?

is it pointless to ask? the ROMs have similar functionality, but come from different components. i'd still ask if could be fixed with a registry edit and/or if he knows why the problem occurs. the worst you'll get is a NO. your choice.
haha good point. I have done some more searching and know that when you add a contact to the favourites tab it creates a field in the contactdatabase called HTCFavorite. Obviously Google don't have this field which is what is causing the problem. The only solution would be to somehow stop activesync from syncing this field. Does anyone know if its possible to select which fields are sync'd during an activesync? Potentially a registry setting or xml file?
I had this problem and after some hunting around found it was most likely to be caused by an interaction between Active-sync and Pocket Outlook, I stopped syncing the Email with active-sync over two months ago and have not had it happen since (previously had it happen twice over three days)
Not a complete solution since you loose the Active-sync email, but stopped having to have a complete re-sync and lose the contacts/HTC Favorites connection all the time.
After messing about last night I created a group in my google contacts called HTC Favorite. I then assigned contacts one by one to this group in the order I want them to appear. After about 10 syncs these appear on my device and no server changes error to report as of yet. While this is not ideal it has certainly worked but I may remove the partnership until this issue is resolved if ever!
