Video Support and Trackball Question

1) So.. I noticed the hero supports h.264 and h.263. Does this mean that a Magic flashed with a Full hero rom will also support those 2?
2) I have a samsung jack that has leds that blink 1 color. A developer was able to make an app that let you use a multitude of colors of leds. Has anyone noticed if there has been any devs trying to get the trackball to blink different colors?

According to HTC it will support both. I know first hand it plays H.264 perfectly, not sure exactly where i'd even find video encoded in H.263?? But it state in the link above that it supports both.

Don't know for sure but I expect the trackball only has one LED behind it.

Well I wonder how it's making the white light. Could be using leds or something of all colors to make the white light, but who knows. Maybe someone adventurous will figure it out

THIS would be awesome! I was wondering the same thing

I'd be placing my bets on it being a single LED like on all blackberries except the original 8100 which had 3 LEDS. It uses extra space and costs more to put the extra 2 LEDs in, for no real gain. If the trackball did not glow such a brilliant white then I may have thought otherwise but I'd say 99% chance it's a single colour LED.
Just my thoughts.

the nexus one has one (along with the trackball), but i havent seen anything about one for the nexus s. anyone know if there is one. i assume if there was one we would know by now

From all the reviews and responses I've read, I was really surprised that people don't seem to care about notification LED. Coming from N1, I really can't live without notification LED (no, I don't wanna use mod to burn the OLED)
C'mon Google, almost every android phone has notification LED except for the 'S' series!! N1 even has two, and they are RGB LEDs!!!

go read what noLED does, it won't burn in because it constantly moves around. Not to mention it takes a long ass time to burn in a screen so unless you plan on leaving a notification there for a week, you'll be fine.

I like how people say "C'mon Google" like Google made the phone. Samsung made it!

I really like the LED trackball, it is useful. One big point to me.

Damn people, enough of these trackball LED threads. If you REALLY want something, search the Galaxy S forums for BLN (Backlight Notifications) which uses the capacitive buttons LEDs as notification lights... it's not the same, but at least it's SOMETHING. I'm sure the Nexus S will be modded to have it in short order.

This is what I came here to say. I am willing to bet there will be a BLN kernel for Nexus S in less than a week.

LED Notification Light - multicolor capable?

So the specs noted that the LED notification light was "tri-color" but none of the reviews that I've seen have indicated if it's a true RGB LED capable of producing multiple colors. I'm so used to having different colors for different notifications on my N1, I'd hate to be limited to 3 colors on the Atrix.

Actually... All I've gotten is green.

blackberries also have a multi colored led but always shows red. Fortunately, there are apps (free and paid) that will let you tinker with it.
sure hope there will be one for this phone.

I think it has rgb, and then a white led
Its got a white led when charging, green for notifications, blue for calls, and red when theres a low battery. Use the app 'led tester' off the market to test the leds, its a pretty neat app. I like 'led disco' because it flashes all the colors and goes through them all. With the red, green, and blue led you can produce any color you want.

Uhhh. No. Those facts are not true. Had the atrix for 3 days now and I've only seen it shine green. No red no nothing. And TRUST me I've been tinkering with it.

Yes, it doesn't work.

I have an atrix in my hand and I have seen 3 colors:
1. Green for messages and charging
2. Red for low battery
3. White - can't remember the condition
I have not seen blue. The Bravo does have blue though.

How in the heck did you get it to say low battery? O.O! You really like to abuse your gadgets don't you?!

I've been able to change my colors. Not sure to what extent you can though. I had pinkish for SMS but changed it to blue.

I always run my stuff down until it dies once every couple of months - i did the Atrix early.
So far battery life is great - i played with it all weekend and it is one solid phone.

Yep. I tried running it out of battery but I got bored and decided to let it get some charge by the time it told me it needed it.

Exactly. Even when I plug in my phone I don't see any light go on. :S

I'm using GoSMS which has an option to change the led color of it's capable.

I was able to see blue when connecting my bluetooth headset to it. It only flashes when it makes the initial connection.

So far I've seen red, blue, green, and a purpleish color. I came from my BB with the BeBuzz app, and it was easy to tell which one of my contacts were calling/texting me from the colors I had assigned.

I was able to use LED lights on Touchdown app..Blue, Red & of course Green.

Okay, let's try asking the question a different way to get an answer we all are looking for.... what FREE app works to change the color of the LEDs and isn't an add-on or skin to SMS or Email? I'm looking for something just like Blink that actually works for this phone!
EDIT - Well what do you know, it DOES work as long as you read the damn instructions! UNPLUG the phone.... click Menu > LED Manager > choose a color > check to test color > TURN OFF SCREEN ON PHONE...... all six colors - RED, GREEN, BLUE, YELLOW, PURPLE, and TURQUOISE all work when you follow those steps! Pretty awesome

Mine was red when the battery level dropped to 10%.

LCD color is off? Specifically Yellow

Is it just me or do you guys experience it too? the yellow is really off. it looks more like gold or towards the greenish side. i downloaded the lcd color tester and it does look really off. i go on google and search for yellow images and they are all also off. i compared it to my nexus one and definitely it is. changing the brightness does nothing.
i went back to the store and the salesmen agreed but he didnt have another atrix for me to test today. i'll come back next week. but in the mean time is this normal for you folks or is it just me?

I don't think this has been mentioned by anyone yet. I'd look around to see if you can find any other threads that mention screen color in the title. There might even be more than one on the first page.

when i get a chance i'll try to take a screenshot of the test screen for you all too see side by side with my nexus one. its quite noticable on phone, i hope it translate over to the photos i will attach later.

I'm on my second Attic (the first one had a stuck blue pixel) and both have wrong colors.
Colors are dark and off... the green on the market is darker but lacks saturation and the yellow is more brownish...
I hope Motorola can fix this soon.

glad its not just me, i hope its not hardware cuz then moto wont be able to fix it short of a recall and i doubt they will do that.

If anyone has a doubt about the yellows looking WAY too washed out...play a round of Angry Birds! One of my favorite Iphone games. As soon as I saw the "PLAY" button come up looking orange when I know it was supposed to be yellow...I kindly placed the Atrix down on the counter...walked 3 feet away and purchased the Inspire. The Atrix I used to demo wasn't even out on the floor yet...so I know some idiot didn't play with the color calibration settings. True colors on a high definition screen is a must for me. But I basically use my phones for their portable multimedia capabilities. While it kills me that the Inspire I'm about to get doesn't have HDMI...DLNA adaptors aren't that hard to find! Now go call me a troll!

Well newest speculations are claiming there will be a notification LED in the nexus... so wait and see?

I think I'll miss the trackball too. Most new phones don't even have the optical track pad.

No they don't but they do have a little LED on the front like a blackberry. It would be easy to make that multicoloured.

Supposedly, the Nexus Prime has a multi-colored notification light.

yea that trackball notification thing. setting up different colours for different app notifications..
best thing to ever be put on any phone ever. its probably the best thing about the nexus one

There is also NoLED for AMOLED phones with no notification light...
