[Theme] Watermark'D 2.3 {CM 6.0.0RC2 Compatible} - Motorola Droid and Milestone Themes and Apps

This is compatible with CyanogenMod 6.0.0-RC2
I will pretty up this post tomorrow, I wanted to get this out. I used ROMManager (install from SD Card option) to install it, not sure if changing the name to "update.zip" works or not.
None of you are idiots, so I shouldn't have to tell you to backup. If your phone blows up, creates nuclear war, etc... I am not responsible.
Version 2.3 includes:
framework-res.apk
Contacts
Facebook
Gallery3D
Gmail
Google Talk
MMS
Music
Settings
Twitter
YouTube
Google Voice
Calendar
I cannot attach weblink or attach file itself. I have it posted at AndroidForums, CyanogenMod Forums and DroidForums.net.
**Thanks to cole20444 for boot animation image ( I really abused his images, but they are seriously perfect)**
**CyanogenMod for ROM**
**droid_freak and Helenoftory08 for testing**
**UBRocked for name**

Assistance Needed With Custom Theme

Hello,
Quick inquiry with regards to a minor complication when attempting to flash a custom theme to a Sony Xperia X10.
The device has been rooted successfully and is currently running Wolfbreaks CM 6.1.3 v053.
I have attempted to flash a custom theme titled "Galaxy S for CyanogenMod 6.1.1 Stable". Everything functions perfectly thus far. Other then the fact that upon reboot an error messages specifies that Gmail has ceased unexpectedly.
The exact message displayed is quoted as "The application Gmail (process com.google.android.gm) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again." Although this message displays consistently upon each attempt to restart the program. Also automatically once the device initializes from a reboot or shutdown. The theme was flashed via xrecovery as custom zip. As per instructions "cmparts_ui.xml" was transferred to /sdcard/CMTheme and selected from the Tweaks menu.
(Thread referenced: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=876600)
This problem did not occur originally when CM 6.1.3 was flashed. Would resolution be a matter of reflashing Cyanogenmod? or as simple as updating the application itself within the market? I can not locate any original files to flash back to the provided theme packaged with the most recent 6.1.3 mod and I can only surmise that doing so would resolve this issue.
Final note would be the process one would take to uninstall such custom themes. I've noticed deleting the .xml file from the sd card does remove it from the tweaks menu. However does this procedure ensure deletion of all associated files? Or is there a proper method to ensure complete removal is successfully accomplished?
Any feedback with respect to this particular theme including whether or not it would be necessarily recommended is much appreciated. This wouldn't be my first flash/root/modification or customization of a device. However this is my first Xperia X10. So I do want to make sure I am being as accurate as possible to avoid any future complications.
Thanks for everyones time and attention.
*Although on the plus side I'm able to transfer my contacts from a SIM card directly to the device with this current version of firmware. Such feature was greyed out in the menu initially
the theme probably has a custom gmail apk in it. which is either broken or incompatible with 6.1.3.
try opening wb's 6.1.3 with 7zip and pull the gmail.apk from that rom. copy it to your sd card, then use root explorer to copy it to /system/app. give it the correct permissions and reboot. problem should be fixed.
hello
thanks for your reply. your instructions sounded quite logical and i assumed id have no complications. i copied the app as per your instructions. overwrote the existing entry when prompted. however upon reboot gmail has been removed off the home screen.
attempting a manual install either within the system/app directory or through the sd card returns an unable to install error message.
ive gone ahead and downloaded the gmail app from the market. which thankfully does install. it is functioning and installs successfully to the device.
presumably anyone experiencing this same issue should download the app from the market very strange occurrence indeed.
my only other issue currently is the GPS functionality. switching on the gps displays no indicator within the toolbar. location based services seem not to pick up a location what so ever.
im hopeful this isnt a result of flashing this particular theme. any suggestions?
If you have flashed a framework etc for that theme (using xrec) it won't reverse if you delete that xml file in the sd card.
If you want to go back to original make a copy of that theme xrec and replace its apks with the apks from the ROMs xrec zip. Then flash it.
And if you want to use the theme and also the gmail apk look and feel (theme). Try replacing original gmail apks .png images, which are in drawable-hdpi etc. folders, with the themes gmail apk images.

after you copied to /system/app, did you change permissions?
the theme may not have a status_gps.png icon or, it's the same color as your status bar.
the app never requested a permission change. upon trying to start originally would just return error.
this was resolved by downloading directly from the market. my only issue now is what to do with the gps connectivity? as it does not seem to be returning a location. the only other thing ive noticed is the default camera app does not zoom.
im trying to assess whether any of this is a result of having changed the theme to the galaxy s cm 6.1 mentioned in the initial post, and how to go about fixing these issues to avoid having to flash back to the original cm6 stock theme.
** GPS has been fixed and is fully functional. Single issue remains with regards to camera not zooming what so ever. Although now attempting an upgrade to CM7. Thanks everyone

Motorola XPRT

Not sure if this is the best place. I just registered to be able to find a community of people that want to mod/hack their Motorola XPRTs. Can we start a new forum?
Also... I have a semi functional XPRT that I accidentally corrupted trying to remove all the Blur crap. It pretty much turns on and has adw launcher but text, contacts and dialer crash... I wish there was an SBF leaked for the XPRT....
Before you start asking why I didn't back up my stock rom. I did! but i lost the image! My only hope is now that somehow the XPRT SBF gets leaked. I tried using the Droid Pro SBF and RSD Lite 4.9 and it didn't work. I will try this again on my linux machine when I get home because I think I incorrectly installed the drivers on my win pc at work. So yeah... if anyone can help me. Is there a way to restore blur apps without SBF. I try installing them in system/app but no luck either....
All answers welcome. Thanks!

Very New phone, not a lot of help out there yet
I was able to easily root the XPRT using SuperOneClickv1.9.
I have yet to find a working tun.ko even though the phone is supposed to be almost the same as the Droid2. I cannot seem to find ROMS to help you out yet either. I'll keep an eye on this thread in case I find something or someone can help me with the tun.ko.
Yes I am a noob, but I am doing as much research as possible before posting.
Being a fan of modding your phone while having an XPRT is sad, Will the XPRT ever have its own sub forums or custom roms?
Apps Safe to Remove, Delete Sprint Boot Animation
I successfully used the SuperOneClick root method on my Motorola XPRT, which has the following software:
System version: Version.4.1.15.MB612.Sprint.en.US
Android version: 2.2.2
You can find the SuperOneClick method outlined elsewhere in another XPRT Forum...Just Google "Rooting your Motorola XPRT" and follow directions...
After root, I then used Titanium Backup to 1.CLEAR DATA and 2.UN-INSTALL the following (mostly Sprint) apps with no resulting issues:

I also deleted the Sprint boot animation and sound (from the /system/media folder, using Root Explorer. This leaves the stock Android splash screen after Motorola splash)
You can also use a free .MP3 to .OGG converter from the web to convert your .MP3's to .OGG format, put them on your mem card, then use Root Explorer to drop them into the /system/media/audio/ringtones or /system/media/audio/notifications folders to "embed" your ringtones & notifications in the system files rather than on the mem card...I just like to do this for some reason...I also delete all the stock ringtones and notifications from those folders, then clear the Caches to remove them from showing up as selections anymore. Speaking of this, does anyone know how to clear the Dalvik Cache using the stock Recovery? (Or know of any custom Recovery that works on the XPRT?) I'm coming from the HTC Evo, so I'm still learning my way around this Motorola...
TO SHUT OFF CAMERA AND CAMCORDER SHUTTER SOUND ON THE XPRT:
1. Root your phone using the SuperOneClick method
2. Use Root Explorer to navigate to /system/media/audio/ui
3. Click "Mount R/W" to mount the folder to Read/Write.
4. Locate and long-press to delete "camera_click.ogg" (or rename "camera_click(old).ogg" if you might restore it later)
5. Locate and long-press to delete "VideoRecord.ogg" (or rename it "VideoRecord(old).ogg" if you might restore it later)
6. Click "Mount R/O" to remount the folder as Read Only.
7. Reboot the phone.
8. Done!
Cheers!

PS-- If anyone has loaded a custom Recovery (ClockworkMod, Amon RA, etc.) please post a reply...like I mentioned, I'm coming from the HTC Evo, so I'm still learning my way around this Motorola stuff and haven't pulled the trigger on trying to load any Recovery yet. Thanks!
PSS-- If you know of more Apps that are safe to remove please reply, thanks!
VegasRooted, dude you are exactly the person I'm looking for! Another XPRT owner who is not afraid of rooting/modding.
So I have installed cwm recovery. All you need to do is use the DROID 2 bootstrapper by koush from the Market and then you will be able to boot cwm recovery and do nandroid backups and wipe the cache, etc. Let's start sharing all the things we are discovering using this device. I dont know why more people are not interested in dev/hacking the XPRT. So far I'm loving this phone! and with Motorola unlocking the bootloader soon I'm hoping this phone gets its own forum!
Also... I am the same person in Android forums who posted the SuperOneClick method for the XPRT! but I dont give me credit for it... All I did was try it out and post my result after it was successful. I figured since the Droid Pro and XPRT share a lot of internals, the root for the Pro would work on the XPRT too. zroot4 doesn't work on the XPRT, but it does on the Pro.
Anyways... I hope we can get some sort of subforum for this device!
Can't wait to try out all the things VegasRooted posted. I guess there's really no way to remove Motion Blur completely? I just installed LauncherPro over it and called it a day.

make sure to do a backup!

Hydrogen,
That's excellent, thanks for the Recovery info, that's exactly what I needed!
Also, I went crazy with it and stripped out even more stuff; the (updated) attached list of safely removed apps follows...(Make sure to back stuff up just in case you want it back later, of course!)

Props to Hydrogen for having the sand to attempt XPRT root with SuperOneClick in the first place, AND THEN doing the ClockWorkMod install as well! Well played indeed...
Installing ClockWorkMod on XPRT
Thanks to your tip Hydrogen, I went ahead and bought and installed Droid 2 Bootstrapper and Bootstrapped the Recovery, then downloaded Rom Manager to install ClockworkMod. I then flashed ClockworkMod Recovery using Droid 2 as the phone model...worked like a charm, thanks again!
Hey Hydrogen, is your XPRT still semi-corrupted? If so, let me know which Blur APK's you deleted, maybe I can use Root Explorer to copy them from my XPRT and email the APK's to you? Then you could use Root Explorer to put them in the /system/app folder...That might work, right?
VegasRooted
VegasRooted,
no worries. i deleted blur-home.apk and blurhome.odex files and i was using ADW as my launcher but all my messaging and dialer/contact related functions stopped working. I removed root and sent it to Sprint and they sent me another one. This time I'm doing double backups of my original stock rom b4 i remove all the bloatware.
btw i noticed you have been removing things like Bluetooth transfer and DLNA. Do you not use those features?

Removed Stuff
Yes Hydrogen that's correct, I don't use Bluetooth Share or DLNA, although I have tried them both. I like to strip out absolutely everything that I don't use, so little-by-little I will get it all cleared out, the way I like it!
Cheers!

I'm contemplating on purchasing the bootstrapper but couple of questions.....
With one click root, if i choose the unroot option does it successfully unroot it?
Do we have the shipped rom anywhere for the Xprt?
Were you able to do all the wiping like dalvik etc?
Is there any crash course guides on porting roms because wouldn't the Pro have many similarities with the Xprt making it easier to port?
Last question isn't as important since it's my gf phone but i would be interested in trying to port....
TIA
Answers
I personally have not tried the "unroot" option of SuperOneClick, so not really sure on that...
There is no "factory rom" available (to my knowledge) for the XPRT...I have read that with the Droid Pro there was a factory SBF that was leaked and folks could flash it through RSD-Lite to return to factory...but no such SBF yet available for the XPRT, apparently...
Yes, you are able to wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache, as well as User Wipe/Factory Reset using ClockworkMod; you must use Droid 2 Bootstrapper and select "Reboot Recovery" in order to boot into ClockworkMod, however. (Once you have followed the other steps to bootstrap the recovery and install ClockworkMod in the first place, of course...)
As for the last question, I personally have no experience in porting ROMs, so I can't help you there...
Good Luck!
I'm thinking of getting the xprt from Sprint... I travel to Europe frequently and would like to be able to use it on both sides of the pond. Has anyone been able to get unlock codes from Sprint? Their rates are outrageous ($3.50/minute). I'd like to use local SIMs if possible.

I got the XPRT for similar reasons; I am loving it btw. It is a much more "adult" phone. The screen may not be huge and hi-res, but the battery life is amazing, and the keyboard is great. Build quality seems better than the HTC I had as well.
I had an EVO before and would switch back to my blackberry when traveling to Europe.
My experience using the blackberry (and it should be the same for the XPRT) is that you just have to call the sprint international line and they will unlock it for you for free. Then when you are in Europe, you just go and pick up a SIM card and put it in. That is all.
Cool, thanks... I have no experience with Sprint International since I never had one of their CDMA/GSM hybrid phones before - I would just lug around my Sprint phone (Sanyo 4900, amazing phone, still works and has better reception and battery life than any phone made in the past 5 years) and a cheapo unlocked GSM phone - Samsung something-or-other.
If the XPRT has decent reception, and I get it unlocked... I would be able to replace both of the above. Hacking comes next.
Factory Reset for Motorola XPRT
Try this to reset your phone to factory default:
1. Pull the battery out and reinsert it.
2. Press and hold the Power and Camera buttons
3. Release the Camera button when prompted
4. Press and hold the Volume Down key
5. A yellow exclamation will appear on the display
6. Select the Wipe data/factory reset (Alt + W) option
Credit goes to knowyourcell dot com.
Good luck!

[Q] Lost Stock Music Player on Defy+ - can I get it back?

I have a Defy which is on a custom ROM. I bought a Defy+ as a backup but decided to use that instead and try to run it on stock ROM. It was fine until I put a few of my apps on it and it became really sluggish. In the end I rooted the Defy+ and removed some of the stock apps by renaming the corresponding apk files as bak in the system/app folder. This appears to have sorted the problem and the phone runs fine.... except that I appear to have lost the music player. I installed another music player - which worked but conflicted with my lock screen so I wondered if I could get the stock music player back. I've tried renaming likely suspects back to apk from bak but nothing seems to have sorted it (and none of them look too likely anyway). The list of those renamed are

Are any of these stock player related?
The only other thing I remember is looking up TuneWiki when I was doing the cleanup but it doesn't appear on the above list... so I don't know where that is.
Any help appreciated! Thanks,
Take a backup and flash the corresponding sbf. Or try downloading a stock system nandroid for your system version, and get the player apk from there
Sent from my MB526 using Tapatalk 2
Thanks. I was hoping not to get into the flashing and restoring business again (I know that's what this forum is mainly about though) and wondered if it was a simple matter of one of the above files being put back to an apk or just putting an apk in the system/app directory. I guess the latter option you suggest may be the easiest but I don't know what the player apk is - I am pretty sure wouldn't have renamed anything that looked like it was a player apk in the first place

[Q] Contacts process force close

Hello everybody,
I have recently bought a motorola Defy+ (MB526) with Android 2.3.6.
There are lots of motorola's stuff that I didn't want it so I made some cleaning with titanium backup (with root acces).
I didn't install any other app's on the phone.
Then now, I get a "com.motorola.contacts" stopped unexpectedly error(force close prompt) after trying to view a contact.
I can look through all of the dialer menus showing contacts and recent calls but I can't view a specific contact in detail.
Perhaps I uninstalled some important apps so I went on this forum and I found some solutions by copying the original files (lots of people says it comes from "YahooContacts.apk", "YahooContacts.odex", "blur_yahoo.apk" and "blur_yahoo.odex) :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16998796&postcount=5
And this one with more files which can be used by the contact apps :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17476858&postcount=14
I tried all those solutions and it didn't work for me. I think because those files are made for motorola Droid (Android 2.3.4 whereas I have Android 2.3.6).
I put them in the file (/system/app) made all permission but I can't install them and the contact problem is still on.
Does anybody have a backup of those files for this kind of device and android version?
Thank you.

Think I deleted android calendar system app by accident - help!

Running out of internal storage for apps on my ZTE Blade MiniQ running android 4 .2 .2 I rooted it using Kingroot and then used Titanium backup to delete bloat ware.
BUT I selected something by accident but thought I'd managed not to delete it - now I think I must have! :crying:
I use google calendar sync'd with business calendar on my phone - it shows no calendars available.
I've installed the google calendar app - but it says my calendars can't be displayed cos calendar storage has been disabled - there is link to enable in setting - app info flashes up and then settings stops working.
I've tried deleting and reinstalling accounts, even a factory reset - nothing is working.
Have seen an old post about this but the link to 4share is no longer working
Has someone got a ink to the right file - and can tell me how to get it back on my phone I'd be extremely grateful
(I did delete lots of stuff like google play newstand - but think that should be ok - and no I didn't back up - cos I am an idiot! -or rather was only planning on getting rid of bloat ware)
The calendar is the one of the main things I use on my phone ....
1.download stock rom for Q mini from official ZTE site
2.extract this from ur stock rom:
-CalendarImporter.apk
-CalendarImporter.odex
-CalendarProvider.apk
-CalendarProvider.odex
3.copy/paste it in system/app and change permissions to rw r r
4.reboot
