A lot of users including myself are having a major problem with the latest zimage. When putting phone in standby and waking phone back up we see nothing just a dark screen yet others say they have it working?
Does anyone know what we are doing wrong if anything? Please reply if you are affected by this problem too.
I confirm that i have the same problem.
zImage from cotulla site is only for testing purpose.
since no source code for these Linux kernel builds is publicly available, nobody will be able to comment. you just lay back and wait for an update.
Same problem . blank Screen

so its not just me then. Same Problem
Most likely if you have a TMOUS, you will get the SOD, If you have a EU then no SOD. Different Panels.

Thanks, will wait for a fixed zImage. That's the only problem I've been having, everything else is just perfect.
Just FYI, I own a US T-Mobile HD2, and the July 23rd zImage running the HTC Desire + Sense build works REALLY well for me. Apart from the massive battery drain, I've been able to do everything with it - it's my primary OS now.
Oh, and when the screen doesn't wake with the call button, I press 'Win' or 'Home', and that usually wakes it up for me. Otherwise I try again .

ANyway, I think we'll need to wait till samfirmware gets hold of the ROM.
I updated my Wife's phone to 2.2 via kies.
It wasn't so good as I thought it might be.
She wasn't able to receive calls. Screen went black and error message came. Factory reset helped.
Second bug was that after factory reset calls came through, but She or neither the caller couldn't hear a thing. I switched speaker on on my wife's phone, and everything was ok.. turning back to phone, everything is muted..
I flashed 2.1 back. And 2.2 is never coming back to this house.
not so bad .i think it's just got something wrong during you flashing .i flash JPF many times and different version like kyrillos's one or Lestatious' .those all runs fine on my phone.

Kies flashed, not me. Never had those issues on 2.1.
After short tests I noticed 2 bugs that egzists in JP9.
- 1min lag after turning off gps
- system shows wrong size of installed apps
I think I'll stay with this rom and test it more. If by some miracle those bugs are fixed I'll change for official release. But I seriously doubt it...

I must admit that I'm a little disappointed with xxjpl. In fact I cannot tell one thing that is better than my prevoius eclair version.
1) Lag in menus after turning off gps is sometomes very annoying and lasts for a few minutes
2) I haven't managed to get gps fix till now. I used gps opt but I have to admit that so far I tried only to get fix putting my hand out of my window Tommorow I will try outside
3) Today I noticed that when my mom called me phone rejected phone call after a few seconds. It never happend since then but still I'm a little bit worried. (I did factory reset)
4) I haven't noticed that this rom (menus) are faster than in 2.1, still sometimes there is a little lag
I'm thinking about trying those custom roms like Kyrillos. Could you tell me your experience with jpf? Is there a problem with showing wrong size of installed apps? What about GPS fix? Any other custom roms have those problems?
I just got an update from HTC to 2.50.495.2 and I would like to know if anyone else got this and what are their observations. It happened just 5 minutes ago or so.
I didn't get it but i heard that they fixed the WiFi-issue. The connectivety seems to be better now.
Yup, fixed some wifi issues (constantly dropping connection) for me.
Thanks for the info. I never had the WiFi issue so I guess the update is rather useless for me. Oh well.
Thanks again!
I've never experienced any wifi problems, but updated anyway. Now, the battery is draining pretty quickly compared to before the update Anyone else experiencing the same?

Sorry, but I cant provide a link as it was OTA. I noticed it yesterday on the phone and updated, although I dont know how long its been out. I did some quick research and there doesnt seem to be a lot of information about it except that some say they lost Arabic support.
My phone is, I think, a unit from France so I dont know if all regions have the update. Maybe the others who responded to this thread can shed some light to the updates availability.

My GPS is no different than before, just to let you know for comparison.
Thought my GPS was broken too but it just took a while to 'find' itself. Was hoping the update might have been a preparation for an unlocked bootloader (yes I know it has only been announced for 'current and future handsets'). But I still live in hope. Only had the update for a couple of hours so will need to monitor over a couple of days to assess the affect.
Just installed without a hitch. Hope this does the job! Look for it in Service Station in your apps.

I've had the update for a few days now and have not experienced a single failure to wake. As far as I'm concerned the problem is fixed. Toshiba has done a tremendous job of resolving problems quickly, posting updates and keeping its user infromed. Well done Toshiba!
Impossible as it was only released today. Maybe you are looking at the prior 2 updates available... !

Nope, tis for sleep of death.
Well, my ever-present SOD has disappeared since the update - so far. I don't know that I would go so far as to call it fixed if I were Toshiba, though. On both forums.toshiba.com and thriveforums.org, a number of people are reporting that the SOD persists in spite of the update. In addition to that, people who had no random reboots are now experiencing them. So maybe this is a partial fix, but it doesn't seem like it was just one issue causing all the problems.

Actually...
...he's right that he's had it for a few days, and you're right that it was only released yesterday.
Toshiba did a test run of the update with a handful of users who first reported the issue over on their support forums. They wanted to run it through the paces with regular users before sending it out to the masses. That's the update he's referring to, not any older ones.
Toshiba asked that the testing be kept quiet. So, it's not surprising that most people would be confused about it.
Is there some form of manual install for said update? Here in Canada there's no updates listed in Service Center so I'm stuck with a semi-bricked device that needs to be rebooted any time I need to use it.
Seriously though, how does a company release a tablet with a bug like THIS!?

I've never tried flashing a ROM before, my device is already unlocked/rooted. What do you do exactly to flash Cyanogenmod?
Just installed Cyanogenmod and saw that the problem is not solved. I fear starting to appear that the problem is hardware. Now have to wait for an update from Google.
IIRC, the screen issue is due to a firmware config that cannot be addressed by flashing a new ROM. An updated firmware package will have to be pushed via Google.

From what I have seen, google is aware of all the big bugs and is working on a big update. Looks like screen flicker, multitouch, overheating, corrupted images on startup, gps, wifi performance etc are going to be fixed in a bugfix update. All the nexus devices start their lives like this, one of the few annoying things about being a nexus fanboy, you get to enjoy the bugs before anyone else gets to.

Yeah I remember this too, something about the kernel supplying not enough voltage to the touchscreen in an attempt to improve battery life. This has to be a kernel bug.
Try flashing a different kernel as that is what bridges hardware and software.
Aren't all kernels based on stock?

I would love to see that happen, but where do you see Google acknowledged and commited to fix all those problems?
If it is just speculation, that doesn't help folks who are within their return period and can get out instead of playing guinea pig.

According to the minions on their google+ "they are working on these issues". I by no means know that google is in fact going to be able to fix all of these issues, nor am I able to guarantee what they do, but I don't see that by repeating what their reps are saying is pure speculation. I think that judging by past examples anyone who has bought a nexus device at launch has either knowingly or unknowingly already agreed to be a guinea pig. In the end I am one of the last people to say that someone shouldn't return a defective piece of hardware, but it seems a lot of the issues people are having are being misdiagnosed as hardware issues when in fact they can (and most likely will) be fixed by an OTA.
I can dare to say that the issue is present in Android 4.3 affecting any device running it even Custom Roms I'm on CyanogenMod 10.2 on my d2spr (S3 Sprint) and the issue is present there too. Also that causes reboots too. I could be wrong too.

No problem with repeating what they are saying, but you seem to have commited them to more than they are saying in their personal comments, not those as official reps.
IMO everyone should get accurate information so they can evaluate for themselves whether it is worth the risk to keep it or just to return the unit.
Personally I think the random reboots and GPS can be addressed in software and the multi-touch is probably 50/50 something that can be worked around in software, but everyone has their own tolerance levels for these kind of issues and "are looking into it or are working on it" and "going to be fixed" are quite different levels of commitment.
I'm sorry but what issues are you having because I exchanged my first n7 because I was having multitouch stuttering and issues with unresponsiveness which made the device unusable. The new device is okay.
A friend of mine received a reply from Samsung telling that they have acknowledged the deep sleep issue, and it will be fixed in the next update (ASC1).
So everyone please be patient, don't return your phone yet ??
ASC3 has just been released for Germany, UK and France!
Edit: its ASC8 not ASC3
This is good news
I've got ASC8 in the UK today with the March security patch. Does ASC1 or ASC3 come after or before?
