Difference between Aria and Legend? - HTC Aria General

What are the main differences between these two?
other than:
-different bodies/size
-TFT/AMOLED
They seem to have the same processor, screen size and resolution?
I'm thinking which one I should buy.
Legend does have connectivity problems, esp with WIFI, which I need. also crappy buttons.
Aria seems to be very delicate, easy to shatter front glass. (but can be fixed with a case?)
So which one would be better?

Is the Legend even available for AT&T? I'm thinking not.

There was talk of the Legend coming to ATT several months ago and now Telus is gearing up to announce the the Desire, FWIW.

Bell Mobile has a Legend (A6365) w/ AT&T 3G bands. I almost bought that instead of the Aria but the $400+ price tag made me think twice. I think the connectivity problems plague the Legend are due to its metal housing.

Well in software of Aria you see it also shows Liberty,, & then with cover off back you see Intruder ... So which phone is this that we all have?

I'm not in the US, and do not have to go with any carriers.
I'm free to choose between either one, and my own network would work on it.
So basically the choice is only based on which phone is better to pick up

I own the Aria , but if a I had the xtra money , and if it wasn't so hard to find with HSDPA 850 .. I would have choosen The Legend
Because of:
AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, 16M colors (this matters)
LED flash ( needed sometimes )
Aluminum unibody ( looks so good and seems to be more resistant )
Standby > Up to 440 h
More "ROM's" development right now
ps. The Aria's size and weight are PERFECT tough !

HTC's hipsteriffic invitations for a June 24th event in London contained precious few clues (DUDE'S WEARING A ROSE), but the Economic Daily News is now reporting something totally reasonable: it's for the Hero and Lancaster, HTC's presumed next Android phones.
Curiously, the paper refers to the two phones as one device, in two versions differentiated only by a keyboard.
The HTC Hero will be available in two versions, with and without a QWERTY keyboard. The model with a keyboard will be named HTC Memphis, or HTC Lancaster for sale by AT&T exclusively in the US for six months starting the third quarter, the paper indicated.
It certainly looks like there'll be a bit more than that to set the devices apart, and for the sake of variety, I hope there is. In any case, we'll be there. [Economic Daily News via Digitimes]

Looks like we won't be getting the Hero, or we have to wait until after the 6 months AT&T has it exclusively?
that phone is UGLY!! the mytouch 3g or what ever their calling it . looks way better
The version without the keyboard will probably be Hero, since the Lancaster is the one for AT&T.

how about this one?

Anyone noticed that at least the Lancaster version has only a 240x320 display?
If this is also true for the HTC Hero version, it would be a clear disadvantage.

LMAO!!!!..............You are absolutely right. And why do they intend on doing the "Chin" thing on these devices. I mean im not really complaining(Lie) but i really want to know why and what purpose dos it serve.......lol im just saying.
this means that we're gonna have a better hero build with bluetooth that works

Hero features before buying

Hi, I've decided that I really want an Android phone and if I have a choice between the Tattoo and Hero, I've gotta get the Hero for about 40 bucks more after unlocking, but I have a few questions before buying. First and foremost, is the GPS in the Hero spot-on? I read that the Tattoo had a hard time finding your location, and when it did it was about a mile off anyway, so it was pointless for driving. Second, does anyone know when the Enclair update to Hero may be? I was just wondering about that, if anyone on the inside may have leaked it here.
First: the GPS has been working great for me so far.
Second: We don't know for sure but from some sources, it's coming soon. Soon could be anything, really, but the fact that an early build exists means HTC is definitely working on it.
Also, I'll say go for the Hero since you get a better screen. The Tattoo has a 320x240 resistive screen, which means scratches, and the Hero has a 480x320 screen which is not only higher resolution, but is also capacitive, with a glass surface that's extremely scratch resistant.
Thanks for the reply, the only think I like about the Tattoo over the Hero is the faceplates, I made some *****en plates on their site. Yeah, *****en.
Yeah, but Hero has the *****en design. ;D
You should see how girls suddenly started talking to me since I got mine. ;D
"oh wow what's that phone? *squeal*"

the hero takes the piss owta the tatoo, in terms of design and use also the gps on the hero is awsome, i use copilot live and it only takes seconds to get a gps fix even indoors, on my HD using tomtom it takes about 2-3 minutes even when im outside lol
lol. FML, I ended up having to pay bills with my extra money, anyone know where I can get a cheap Hero? I know, contradiction, but even a locked one? Some people just end up selling their locked phones because they don't like them, I can unlock them myself. I can get a cheap ass one from here but the fact that the website was started several weeks ago by a free host, no fn way. The only ones I can find on eBay that go for less than 500 bucks that are even new are Sprint...and I really want the Chin, must be the Bruce Campbell fan in me. Oh, and can the Hero do this...

HTC HD7 or Schubert has been previously known as HD3 and whatnot and it looks exactly how we saw it on the live shots three weeks ago. The device has a 4.3-inch WVGA capacitive touchscreen and packs 1GHz Qualcomm processor, 576MB RAM, 5 megapixel camera with dual-LED flash and 720p video recording, all-round connectivity and 8GB internal storage. The T-Mobile version of HD7 is expected to double the on-board memory to 16GB.
Looks like the T-mobile USA version will be blessed with 16GB storage vs 8GB for the euorpean one
I can hardly wait. This year alone I have replaced my HD2 with the vibrant now soon it will be replaced by the HD7

In my opinion, the HD2 looks significantly better then this!!
What's so incredible about it ? It's still the same case basically ..

Agreed! I don't like the silver on the back, the HD2s dark colours look much more elegant.
not being biased, i also think that hd2 looks sexier than that.
also, what is up with all these brand logos?

Yeah it does ruin the look of the phone, it isn't like windows mobile is growing in the market to boost the name at the back of the phone, just saying.
Specs sound like the HD2... But I like the camera not protruding on the HD7 like it is on the HD2. Also looks like there is a kickstand which is good, otherwise like I said specs sound the same so with the confidence that the HD2 will be running wp7 at some point, no need to upgrade. If anything I could go for a G2 right about now.
Not interested
It's nice, but it's matched by the HD2 in every area it seems, and the branding looks very Primary School...
I want it just because its named Schubert.......
Not keen on all the spare parts from robocop around the camera though.........
maybe Ill just wait for the HTC Strauss........

Screen not flat, slightly raised?

The glass screen on my desire hd isnt flat abd the right hand centre edge is slightly raised and half a milimetre raised, its noticable if i run my thumb across the right side i can feel the glass edge, but not when i rub it over the left side which is fit perfect.
Could you guys check yours and see if you have something similar
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
I don't have mine yet (tomorrow I will), but this is a no brainer. Send it back to HTC and your store and get a new one.
It shouldn't be this way and if it really is the higherst point the change of dammage (it can come from repeatingly getiing it in and out your pouch even). is high.
Sad to hear it isn't so good.
EDIT: it isn't a problem if you feel the metal. That's good. But the screen should never be higher then the rest of the frame.
in a earlier thread i raised this, i have since found out that it might not be a design issue.
A years manufactures warranty exists on the phone... so to some extent ill be ok if the screen becomes worse.
if you want to send it back, make sure you read the warranty carefully though as they may also be something to catch you out. make sure you don't have custom firmware as it potentially can void the warranty
If we can get other desire hd users to confirm how their phones are it would be great, im over the moon with this phone. I could probably live with it, but its brand new and thats how it was out the box, could other xda users please inspect their dhds closely please?

There are sooo many threads open regarding this issue.
It seems like the screen in intentionally lower than the case to protect the screen from scratching when you face the phone down.
However, the screen should be equal for both sides but yours seems unequal so it might be faulty
This is what the issue is, see in the picture, anyone got anything like this at all?

Okay I think yours is faulty for sure...I haven't seen anyone reported that at all. The screen should definitely be lower than the case.

Definately not normal mox123. I have had 3 DHD in total now and can say that none of the screens were raised like this. I have come to the conclusion, however, that the build quality of each handset varies alot!
Im gonna call the network on monday and get this sorted out, overall handset is perfect apart from this minor flaw

New pyramid photos leaked (Desire HD 2 ? )

A couple of new pcitures have been leaked showing the htc pyramid aka the desire hd 2 , looks pretty nice i was pretty much sold until i saw it has 770 mb of ram , i like that the camera no longer sticks out ( less sctraches) and it looks thinner than the desire hd and i also think they dropped the unibody case kinda sad but at least the battery cover will be beasy to remove

indeed qHD screen would nice and also a BIGGER battery!
I hope the qHD screen will get higher refresh rate than 60hz... otherwise frame limiter will be also set to 60fps, and those shiny new dualcore will be really limited...
Uuh how I miss a simple way of opening the back of my DHD, the picture from this one here really give me new hope.

The hardware specs are WOW. But the design to me looks a bit feminine like that of samsung. What i mean is....the design is too much of curves on the phone. The top and bottom are also curved and not flat. I like the look of DHD which is VERY masculine hehe

I feel opposite, I much prefer DHD way of keeping minimum area of weak parts of the body making the overall feeling sturdy and cracklingless
Well, DHD by default is not that with it's weak mini covers, but they can be worked out.
