So I just noticed there is no calendar or music widget? What do you use or is there a way to get them?
Sent from my Samsung Vibrant.
You get them the same way you get other stuff you don't have. You get them off the Internet/Android Market.
I use MusicMod for my music widget. I don't use calendars so perhaps someone else can help you there.
I don't use a music one because it's built in to the lockscreen if I'm listening to something. For calendar I use android agenda widget
Sent from my Samsung Vibrant using XDA App
Here is the stock 2.1 music player with widget. Just transfer the apk to your sd and install.
I use the widget on the lock screen. Why clutter up your home screen + waste resources when there's one already built in to the lock screen?
Another great option is "cubed" in the market. Best player IMO, but there's nothing wrong with the stock one.
Calendar widget, I don't know. Never really thought about it! I agree, it should have one built in.
For a good calender widget find "jorte" has tons of options.
Catchin' the VIBE on the XDApp
The daily briefing can be used as a calendar widget if you use google calendar.

How do you get the music widget on the lock screen?
Pure Music Widget and Pure Grid Calendar are both great! Pure Grid is like the HTC Sense calendar.

It should come stock on the vibrant open your music player and start playing a song then when you lock the screen it will be on the lock screen when you go to unlock it.
I also use the controller in the lock screen. Instead of a widget they put the quick controls in the notification put-down. You just have to open the music player initially.
I use the Calendar Clock widget. It's ok.
doubleTwist is a good player and has a widget.
when my phone is unlocked i drag down the notifications panel when music is playing and there are music controls. also in lock screen mode you can drag down a little window pane while locked with music controls (phone remains locked).
The player in the notification menu while the phone is locked is no good for people who like to lock their phone with a pattern. doubleTwist has a good widget, but only pause and skip forwards buttons, no skip back. And I have as yet been unable to make the widget background transparent...
Try the app called 3, search Filipe Abrantes in the market.... It has a pretty sweet widget and its a bad asz music app...

Pet Peeves of this phone so far:
NO Music Widget for the stock music app (i checked in touchwiz, AND ADWlauncher)
NO Calendar widget for the default calendar app (the best alternative i found is either "What's Today" or "Smooth Calendar Widget" - both just not the same function as the default 2.1 calender)
I understand this is touchwiz, and the overlay has affected the music and calndar programs as well, but come on samsung, leave well enough alone.
There needs to be more control, more of a standard, to which these phones adhere to. I love android because of the customization, but some of the manufacturers are getting out of hand.
Touchwiz is actually really effing nice, but those two basic widgets should not have been touched IMO. Points off Samsung, and T-mobile...
I don't believe the GalaxyS comes with those apps in the first place, hence the lack of widgets.
the music controls are in the notification pull down for what its worth.

yea... i use the app icon to start it, then control the app with the pull-down. thank you
different means to the same end. now just need to fix that the samsung music app pulls every damn sound in the universe into the list. haha
I find that the TouchWiz Notifications Music Player widget is far more useful. Turning it on is just as easy with an icon on the home screen.
not for nothing, but i also feel that samsung could come up with a kickass widget for the music app. so the lack of one is more disappointing on a completeness of touchwiz and aesthetic level
I use Tunewiki widget which is pretty descent even though it uses it's own music player but you get lyrics too with internet.
Have any of you guys found a way to control music from the lock screen, I have managed to install MIUI music player and can install a widget onto the lockscreen (using widget unlocker) however it's not the nicest looking in the world.
Any way of making it more 'generic', like using the default music player with control on the lockscreen for example (you can't add this widget to the widget unlocker homescreen).
Thanks guys.
poweramp has the option to have a lock screen widget. Widget looks nice, and it's probably the best music player available.
I'll give it a go, thanks!
EDIT: Tried, works very well, many thanks!
Does poweramp work with spotify?

I'm using the WinAmp music player on my phone, which have the option of a lock screen player - not tried any of the other ones, but it seems to work just fine.
I've done some googling and I can't really find anything. I'm just looking for an apps I guess that puts the music controls some where accessible from within an app.
Coming from iOS all you have to do is double tab the home button and you could get to music controls. Is there any app that give you music controls like in the notification tray or in the task switcher?
Thanks

Use the Widget option in the setup, remove a few icons from the bar, then add music controls.
If you use Google play music, this is supported natively... but only while music is playing.
Hello,
Is it possible to remove the ugly grey Music widget from lockscreen? And only use the other one (which I think comes with the google play player)?

Ugly -> https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-...SbP62moA/w500-h823-no/2014-10-07-17-01-12.png
Using only google player is not an option because I like the folder browser in Music app
Any ideas?

Its probably a widget, just disable widgets on lockscreen settings.
No, i dont think that solve it, i also have this issue, i dont want my lockscreen wallpaper changed to album art while playing music, any tricks to disable it?
I built this little widget. It uses media utilities that is free on the playstore.. Go to settings in media utilities and
Application Integration --- Zooper
Experimental Features---Make coverart available.
Uses zooper widget pro. Load from sd card. Its set to use samsung's music app when you click on the album art. Of course it can be changed. Maybe this will help someone like myself who didn't know what the hell they were doing as a starting point. I like it a lot. I still don't know how to change from a play (the icon itself) button to a pause button like all the real widgets do (or if its possible). My widget instead has both a play and pause button. Recommend a black background or close to it.
I'm using Earth & Moon Live Wallpaper. This is on my Note Edge using an miui icon theme.
Also included is a matching clock I whipped together.
please unzip.

I don't get it, please explain :3
You mean, that "X>>" and "<<O" button works for next and previous respectively?
I'm new to Zooper widget, so please help. (also, notify me if I'm posting at a wrong place)
"o" is play.
"x" is pause
">> " is skip forward
" <<" is skip back.
It's not hard.
nice one
first time is too hard to remember the key
