Best browser with less strange behaviour - Desire Themes and Apps

Dear members,
I love my Desire more and more, but there is one thing i really am crying about....the browser
Most of the time when i click a link on a webpage, it doesn't do anything. I can push what i want, but nothing happens.
Is there a better browser? Tried Dolphin HD, but i am also not really satisfied about it.

try opera or skyfire

Try steel browser
jim

Dolphin HD works perfect for me, used opera but doesn't support flash like dolphin does.
Skyfire disappointed me even more.

Weird links usually work fine for me zoomed in or out, maybe you have working man's hands, thick dry skin? Or do you use a screen protector?

I think he means when you tap a link, it recognizes the action but the URL doesn't load. I've had this happen many times but it doesn't really matter.

I actually enjoy the stock browser, I've tried everything from Dolphin to Opera.

I get it with Chrome at least twice daily. At those moments, search boxes like Google also stop working. It's a bug. Kill Chrome and on immediate restart it works fine again.
Dolphin HD was slow some months back IME but is nice to use now as an alternative. Having 6-7 windows opened in the background and bookmarks on SD card is very useful for me. I'm running the blue theme with it. So is xScope actually.

Opera is good. Dolphin is bloated but still good enough.

[Q] stock android browser

is there anyway to install stock android browser on the epic? i believe it's better than the one on the epic or is it the same?
Try asking in the general section -- this forum is for development threads like ROMs, kernels, and other projects
Our browser is stock. And yes, this belongs in General.
It's stock, but oddly enough, Sptint, Facebook, and Google's mobile sites ALL identify it as an Intercept. I call that laziness. And also probably the reason for a lot of problems.
Threw dolphin hd browser is awesome.

Stock browser is good, but if you want, what I think might be the fastest android browser (sans server side rendering a la opera mini), then I highly suggest the new xscope browser. It looks great too.

I just downloaded the dolphin hd browser and it is awesome. Just wish those menus didn't slide in when I scroll left or right.
Any of the browsers above support some kind of flash

I second this, the Xscope browser is by far the best browser out there. Better than Dolphin HD. I have used them all and it is fast and light. I don't even know why anyone would want to put the Evo browser on there phone. What a POS.

What web browser do you use?

Hey guys, I use Opera mobile web browser and I love how simple it is and how it looks. However, I noticed how several websites are cramped to only one side making it almost impossible to browse normally.
I have tried Dolphine browser but there is just too much in and and when I swipe side to side instead of the page, the side bars pop up. It gets really annoying.
I wanted to see what you guys general use for web browsing.

I use Dolphin Browser, though I know what you mean about the sidebar. I've found that if you scroll up/down first, then to the side, the sidebar doesn't show up as often.
I was using firefox but I switched back to the stock browser.the stock one runs much smoother.
Used Dolphin for the longest but just went back to stock. Like the simple clean interface and the side to side scrolling on dolphin just started to drive me nuts.
Stock. Tried Opera and Dolphin but went back to stock.

If you never use the side bars in Dolphin, you can disable the swiping side to side action in the settings. It helps make Dolphin more usable.
I'm using Dolphin HD, although I do find navigating around a page to be buggy sometimes.

I also use dolphin and have disabled the side bars because they drive me nuts. I'm a fan of the tabs which I find a great feature that isn't on stock.
Yeah, I love the tabs but I prefer the way it is on opera mini, plus opera is really nice and simple.

i do. skyfire rocks, and can watch most flash content with it.
Skyfire. So far it's my favorite but I'll be interested in trying firefox once it's a bit further along.
I have tried out several with the notification bar hide feature because of the screen burn in issues. For me dolphin hd can be really slow. Anybody that's using it without issues change any of the settings to get it to run properly?

Boat Browser (Better than the rest?)

http://www.appbrain.com/app/boat-browser/com.boatgo.browser
Just ran across this browser and its handling pretty well. Streaming videos work pretty well too. Its like a blend of safari, miren, and dolphin! Try and post feedback!!
**Here is a test an evo member did (not sure if he used the latest version)**

thanks, will do.
Ill try it, but Xscope is blazing fast and is my default. Edit: I just tried it and its nice, but Xscope just blows the doors off it. Its speed imo, is unmatched for a non rooted browser.
I just tried both xscope and boat browser.
Both are extremely fast.
Boat browser wins imo. The ui is alot simpler than xscope. Less clutter is superior.
Both are awesome though
Someone should really do a comparison between all of the browsers and post a handy chart or something. Might do this later today with a dozen or so of the best known browsers.

Don't forget to test for flash and html5 comoatibility. Opera mini mobile can't do flash.

Agreed. I think Boat just rocked the boat. Been XScope user for long time. Way cleaner UI. Just can't figure out how to sort bookmarks.. or a way to save them for the next flash? Guess it just uses stock bookmarks whereas xscope uses it's own, with a save to sd option.

Gonna do it tonight after I finish dinner most likely. Going to test as many as I can with load times of web pages, flash smoothness (subjective), a bunch of browser tests like acid3/html5/browsermark, features and available screen real-estate. Hopefully it wont take too long, but it probably will as I will restart the phone between each browsers test to give a level playing field.

Yes... but how do the bookmarks work? Mine are all deleted now. I cleared stock and then used xscope to send all my saved bookmarks to stock... but they don't go to boat B! If there's no way to save/sync bm...then it's a no go.

I just use Opera Mobile. Renders well and is sickeningly fast. Works with Flash too.
I really like the "exit and clear records" option. The one thing I hate about the stock browser is that it runs indefinitely and keeps windows open etc.
I like it. Its a little iphone-ish lol but it looks good. I usually use dolphin HD but I'm going to run this for a while to test it out

New firefox browser = smoothest browser?

Past Firefox has sucked hardcore, but now, wow. Its smooth, no chopping zooming out either, it reminds me of the stock galaxy s2 with the bounce effect.

Dolphin is good in writing, but too unreliable. Tabs didn't load a lot of the time it didn't even show up at all. Had to keep changing the current from desktop to phone just so i could post messages on different sites....the list goes on.
Any way to back up the bookmarks like Dolphin? I installed it when the stock browser was fc-ing on bookmarks and found the import/export feature makes life easier.
People should really give boat browser a chance. Very good speedy browser! :good:
completely agree with boat browser. I don't understand, why is it so low profile, I have tried other popular ones like Opera, Dolphin (& mini), stock, etc, but Boat seems to be the best of the lot

Best Web Browser?

lol, these threads are usually annoying, but I'm desperate!
Tried Ocean browser but it's fugly with that grey color scheme (couldn't find a way to change it). It matters to me since I'll be browsing the net a lot.
Dolphin is the one I'm settled with at the moment and so far it's nice.
Will give Opera Beta a try.

If you don't want to root, naked browser is also very good.

Works fast (after the V8 Javascript update), and I haven't had it crash yet that I can recall (I do wonder what people are doing to have it crash "repeatedly" though since I haven't had any issues).
AOSP Browser comes in second for me. Anything else isn't an option for me unless it syncs with Google.
