Has anyone noticed this? Wherever there's something to scroll, web pages, menus etc., the motion is sort of stuttering as long as you keep your finger on the screen. When you release your finger and "throw" the page, it goes smooth. This makes me think that it's not a graphic performance issue, but it's more like if the resolution of the capacitive touch screen was lower than the actual display. I hope I'm wrong and it's software related...
Software related, doesn't always do this.
Edit-
On second thought I am not sure, sometimes it does this really badly and other times it is completely smooth. If we didn't have full resolution touch you would notice it on a multi touch test app.

I think I have found the cause.
Cpu scaling!
Lock setcpu to 1 ghz and it is much smoother.
What is happening is the cpu speed keeps throttling and jumping back to full speed causing problems

Actually...still unsure...ideas anyone?

"Problems" with CPU speed jumping up and down? Those are not problems but a design decision (jury is still out on whether the implementation is done right) to save energy.
Of course you can crank everything up to the max and never put peripherals or the CPU to sleep, but please don't start complaining when your battery runs flat before the day is done.
They set the ramp down cpu speed timer far too short. This can be modded in a kernel anyway.
Using a multi touch test we have at minimum 600x300 touch resolution, way more then enough to have lag free scrolling.
There's an acer android phone out with only about 32x 24 touch resolution. They manage

I don't think it's related. I'm experiencing this even with the cpu locked in performance mode. On the other hand, using a multitouch test app, I was able to move a pointer pixel by pixel at what seemed to be the screen's full resolution, so touch res is not the cause.
It's quite annoying cause even if you want to launch a fast scroll of, say, your contact list, you get that initial ugly small stutter... when browsing the internet this ruins the experience even more, since you are likely to keep your fingertip on the screen more.
Dunno about you guys but uninstalling Gesture Search by Google fixed it for me.
Never had that on my phone...
Bump... am I the only one bothered by this?

Could be, I had a HTC HD2 and it suffered from that problem alot. numerous videos have been posted on youtube because of it as well.
One possible way of minimizing the problem is to electrically discharge your screen, by putting an electric conductor, such as metal on it to remove and negative/postive ions still hanging around. Read that up somewhere and it somewhat helped my HD2.
Personally i have only experienced once on my Sgs and have not been able to replicate it since.
If you have big fingers that could also be a problem as the touch sensor can't decide on where to locate your finger...
Thank you for your answer! The electrical conductor you mentioned should go somewhere to discharge though... I can't walk around with a ground wire hanging from my phone all the time Plus, I really believe it's software. I know it always goes there but... iPhones have similar technology but they always scroll smooth. maybe it's interpolation we're missing here.
Btw I have particularly small hands!
Discharging it only has to be done only when the problem seems to be worsening. just try not to place your entire thumb on it but rather use the tips of yours fingers, that way it doesnt jerk.
I have to say this problem is pretty consistent, hence not worsening (or improving) whatsoever in any circumstances. It's just not fluid, ah my Touch HD used to be, but that was because of poor GPU (driver); we know that can't possibly be the case here, and as a matter of fact, regardless of load, stuff in the background etc, it's there all the time.
But as soon as you release the fingertip, the "inertial" part of the scrolling just goes as smooth as possible.
So I'd dismiss the electrostatic explanation, it seems like it was a non-interpolated low touch resolution... except that it's not...
Hi Folks, I have noticed the same problem running eclair 2.1 with Ryan's one click lag fix applied (the lag fix did speed it up quite a bit too!). It seems to do it after coming out of 'sleep' mode i.e when I wake it up from blank 'screen saver'. After a few scrolls or taps it starts to smoothen out a bit, but still not as I would like it to be.... Just my observations and sorry I can't offer up any Solutions... Any word if 2.2 update will make things better? Also, does anyone know when the update will hit Australia?
Welcome to android world, iphone users.
The world where not everything is super-smooth.
Actually it might be related to smoothing of touch input. Btw my scrolling is quite ok, but I come from Sybian world, world of lag.

'smoothing of touch input'? could you please expand on this?
BTW - I Never owned an iFone, and don't really go for it's comunistic ways... (although some people take comfort in it! )
Hm, touchscreen sends raw data to driver (noisy, with peaks) to driver. Driver cleans and interprets them.. (unless its done in TS firmware)
I think that more cleaning and smoothing at this stage would result in smother scrolling, but not-so-precise tracking (when drawing, etc).
I'm just speculating here, because I have no real knowledge about this.
OK... Although it seems like there is a delay in reloading to short term memory when coming out of hibernation? Would this sound like a place to start looking? if so, anyone have any ideas on how to manipulate this function?
i installed 4 days ago,
N.O.V.A
Sandstorm
and Spartan.
I have got a bad gaming experience, the multi touch it's not acurate, he jumps when i move it ( the multi touch on the x point ), i got some Freezes continously, and other **** things, this not happen on Galaxy S, iphone, and other android phones.
Any one can confirm this?
THanks.
PD: excuse my bad english
Well i can add when playing heavy gunner with dual touch option and the touch instead of tilt option, the screen sometimes jump in the wrong direction if touched a certain way. Very annoying when you have a swam of 40 bots coming your way and all of sudden your back is towards them.
yes 100%, i got the same problems...
is the screen of the HD2 or the drivers are not 100% perfecctioned?
I'd be interested in the WM Rom you guys have, the Android build, radio, and kernel. That might get you answered.

Yes, I think so. I have the same problem. It seems a little inaccurate.
This is more of a problem on builds based on the Nexus. Try some other android build based on the Desire. Multi touch screen controls work very nicely on them. I'm using Mdeejay Froyo Sense Clean 1.1 and NOVA plays very well.
i am using bungsters CM6 based rom. i have no issues at all.
i even downloaded an app called multi touch test from the market where you place 2 fingers on the screen in the same time and play around to see if the positions of the circles where ur touching will screw up " just like on nexus 1 and desire " and no. no problem at all it was perfect.
but i downloaded NOVA just to test it few mins ago and its perfect.
Sandstorm runs great on my Ndeejay evo warm with hasterin 7.5
Multi touch seems very responsive
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
I played all of them fine with Bangster rom. Cannot play them with mdeejay 3.1
While trying to play Beach Buggy Blitz or Shine Runner, the touchscreen control has significant lag. It takes about a second for the touch to register and steer the vehicle. Of course this makes it very difficult to steer. The lag is only present in games. Anyone else experience this problem? Sorry if this has been brought up before.
Oh and I'm running Smooth ROM and Faux kernel.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Have had the same issue. Especially when playing games that require a swiping motion (Batman: Arkham City Lockdown , Rage of the Gladiator etc). After lets say 10-15 mins of gaming the screen will just randomly not register the swipes. Taps seem to work just fine but not swipes.
Have a 32Gb Nexus 7 with PA and Franco kernel.
Hello all,
I bought this device 2 days ago. Since there isn't much info about it yet, I thought I'd post some benchmark results and my personal experiences with it:
Antutu 5.7.1 64bit: 46929
Antutu 5.7.1 32bit: 44842
A1 SD Bench:
Tests done on internal memory
Sequential read: 110,8MB/s
Sequential write: 45.69MB/s
Random read: 48.72MB/s
Random write: 1.47MB/s
Browser experience is acceptable. But webpages using javascripts are lagging like a older generation tablet (like my old Asus transformer TF700). When I turned off java scripts in chrome, it was much smoother, but missing features provided by java script.
Sound is loud and clear. Some distortion at the highest levels though. Still the best tablet sound you can get I reckon.
Screen is really bright and crispy. Had some minor issues with the touch. A couple of times it hasn't been responsive. But after reboot it has been ok again.
Projector feature is cool. Don't really have anything to compare with. But I watched Terminator Genesis on a white wall in a dark room, and it's really a nice experience for a portable device. I travel alot with work, so as an entertainment system on the go this suits me fine.
yeah, Lenovo starts to Microsoft more and more as time goes on...
a new version, minor changes more expensive, same (bad) experience
Lenovo Yoga Tab 65.2 Pro huh? buzz inside, lenovo outside, tap for daa deee daa doo, now as a preinstalled system app (dadedado_v23.4.apk)
I've had it since 24 oct. Love the HW, hate the SW. Chrome is really laggy/slow. And I have the issue with the screen not recognizing touches several times, really annoying.
I will use it mostly for watching movies/series while travelling so I'll survive anyway, but it should not perform this poorly! I hope an OTA will fix this..
Edit: The multitask is also really bad. Why would they change the stock one for something that slow??
Had mine a couple of days. Everything fine apart from browser. Chrome slow and Dolphin crashes all the time. Sound excellent and screen and projector above expectation. Battery superb.
hi, is there a way to root it yet?
I just got an OTA update which brings us the multi tasking / recent apps from stock Android and an overall better performance with less stuttering.
Awesome!!
Thanks for the heads up. Funny there was no notification. Seems to be a new kernel build .
As for rooting it looks like this should work http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/intel-android-devices-root-temp-cwm-t2975096
AYOR. Haven't had time to try yet.
Yeah, that tiny update (18mb) fixed alot! Keep it up Lenovo!
---------- Post added at 08:50 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:25 PM ----------
Thank god for the update. Fixed my main issues. Anyone know what restmode is? (the "moon" in notification bar)
Seems to increase screen timeout in 3 steps by 30secs/step.
Just got mine today. Very happy with it as it's my first non Samsung tablet.
Just a small question: is there a way to use multi window on this tablet?
Hope someone can help...

Hey all. I received this tablet today and love the screen and sound quality. The projector is adequate for tv shows/films and overall, for the price the tablet with built in projector is well worth the money.
The media for it says it comes with a Netflix widget built in and I saw it in a review I watched but mine didn't come with it? Did anyone else actually get it? Seems weird they make a big deal about it then leave it off. It's no major biggie as the app works and with the 4 speakers it sounds amazing but, because they said it had the widget, I want the widget! hehe
Got a new OTA update today, anyone else?
Dont notice any differences though

I got the new OTA too but didn't see any changelog. Bigger update than the last and the tablet does feel faster/smoother since. Previously I did have some stutters when scrolling in Facebook and moving from app to app but it definitely seemed better today.
anyone with LTE version got those updates ? I read in another forum that theres still no update for multiwindow on LTE version :crying:
Hi, it is normal that the projected image is more blurry on the left side?
Got my Z1 two days ago and this annoys me like hell:
Sometimes I have to rather touch the display with more pressure so the digitizer reacts to my input.
I installed a touch test app and when putting my finger slowly and gentle at the display I get no app output.
If I intensify the touch it reacts. Cuz of this sometimes when going through the UI I have to press an UI element two times or a bit harder.
This is the first time that a device I got has such a problem. The problem is there with tempered glass and with a hybrid display protect layer (plastic glass hybrid).
Never using any device without display protection.
Faulty hardware? Please no. I ordered at efox shop which really is a pain in the **s when it comes to warranty and RMA.
My Mi4 (RIP) even reacted when just hovering above the display, and had a very accurate touch input system.
So this is why this annoys me like hell. The ZUK touch input is not precise and the sensitivity sucks.
Did any of you experience something like that with your Z1?
Update:
I was very pissed first, installed a test tool for the touch.
It could be seen totally clear that the touch was not very precise. I could touch the screen very very softly, then giving more pressure and nothing happened. Pressing more harder the tocu test app gave output.
I thought; well I'll have to send it back because the digitizer is faulty.
I flashed unrooted stock cm-12.1-YOG4PAS3OH-ham-signed.zip from the Cyaonogen OS website then after making a full wipe (keeping my SD-memory untouched).
Same problem again, the touch sucked, even lag was less and the fresh flash got me a more fluid experience. I was wondering though; trebuchet and music FX FC'd various times.
I guess cOS YOG4PAS3OH is just buggy...
I flashed cm-12.1-20151211-NIGHTLY-ham.zip from the CM site then, because I did not want to give up.
Clean install of the newest nightly and voilĂ ... touch is working very precisely, even the softest touch input gives output with the touch test app.
Sadly no audio at all is working for me with cm-12.1-20151211-NIGHTLY-ham.zip. No output, no recording... nothing.
But the CM build is more fluid than the cOS build, it feels really smooth.
So now I am stuck with a good device and two buggy ROMs which I both do or can not want to use as daily driver.
Aaaargh!
Reboot the device. The audio issue most likely originates from twrp.

Sir, you were right.
So now I will test this build. Hope there will be a stable soon.
I was not into CM for quite some time now. Heard stuff about battery drain on the ZUK Z1.
I'm not happy with the touch. Sometimes it's oversensitive, most of the time unresponsive first time and occasionally works fine. I'd love a stock Marshmallow rom. This is way too buggy. I've rooted every Nexus and others like the note 1.People laughed at the size of it May give this away at Christmas and stick to my fast, reliable nexus 5 while I save for a 5x.I did want an Asus zenphone 2 but they were sold out ( Bought this for 1 storage 2 battery 3price. Buy cheap buy twice they say.....
With CM (not COS) it is better.
Did notice the touch screen issues but not the screen issues people report yet.
Yes Dude Same Problem With Me But I Have Got A Solution Just now You Have To Increase the Pointer Speed To A 80% And You Can Feel That Smoothness That You Wanted And One More Thing Disable Swift Key Like Apps Too
