App to monitor minutes and messages - Desire Themes and Apps

Can someone point me in the direction of an app that will tell me how many minutes and messages I use in a given month? Ideally one that works like 3G Watchdog with a small widget giving me the information at a glance. Thanks in advance.

Call Meter NG? No widget.

Cheers, I'll have a look. A widget would be really useful though.

Droidstats is good
Hi,

if youre on orange why dont you just install the your orange app from the market it works great for me even allows you to change magic numbers and gives data usage aswell

Yeah, great UI! Thanks for sharing. I was using Call Meter NG which has no widget...

I use a widget called Tariff Watcher Widget - you can set what your free minutes/texts are each month and when the billing cycle starts and it shows a usage bar and number
I also use Data Watcher Widget to watch Data/Wifi and Roaming data usage - tapping it brings up some little icons that can be used to turn Wi-Fi on/off, get to Wireless and networks settings and seettings for the app
Unfortunately being a new user I can't post the app brain links :S

I use "phonalyzr" try it

App to monitor data usage ?

Can anybody recommend an app to monitor my data connection ?
Similar to SPB Wireless on WM.
Any help really appreciated.
3G Watchdog.
I got a widget off the market called data counter, simple front end that sits on my home screen with lots of stats and options in the background, works good for me

NetCounter is also a good one, free on the market.

I use, and would recommend this too.
I use NetTraffic.

It seems some users said it does not work on HTC Desire.

Doesn't work for Wifi on mine, and the cell counter is WELL out as well. I've been downloading quite a bit via 3G over the last week, and it reckons I've only downloaded 1.24MB...
+1 for 3G watchdog - does what it says on the tin. Very pleased with it...
I just tried the "3G Watchdog", but I cannot see any option to "disable" it.
Once I activated by setting it, I saw the icon ets ... but I cannot de-activate / disable / turn it OFF.

Only way I know of to do it is to close it under running services and then open the app again next time you are going to use mobile data.
I just keep it on as I keep my phone on mobile data unless I need to browse the web at home as the wifi is crap for notifications, they hardly seem to work when the screens locked on wifi.
3G watchdog is great!

data usage monitor app - for each app??

Hi
Is there any app that can be used as monitoring the data usage of each application?
On example how many kb using mail app, google talk, google maps etc...
So, per application data usage
Thank you
There was a thread asking the same question a while back and it seems the answer is no
I'd post a link but I'm still a newbie
I would like such a app myself - but as a workaround you can dial *#*#4636#*#* , click "battery protocol" (or something like that, my phone is in german...), in the first dropdown "network usage" and then click on the apps and it will tell you how many bytes the program sent/received.
Nice one, that let me see what it was that was using up so much data.
i have an ap called 1013 in this list, but when I click it, I get an error..
does anybody know what this could be?
because its bar is completely filled!!
there's also a bar for media, thats quite high, any ideas what this could be?
because I haven't used any music photo or movie app since I've stopped charging..
3G Watchdog can help
i have been use it for a month... so far so good

Or use the Spare Parts app which essentially does this but in a more user friendly way
I've been using software called Network Statistics. It does exactly what your asking but with a few quirks. It doesn't differentiate WiFi from mobile data so I had to reset the counter when switching from one to the other. The only way I've found to reset the counter is to pull out the battery.
That said, it helped me pinpoint fairly quickly what background app was ripping through my data allowance (foursquare).
It seems the author no longer supports it, but it's still available for 50p. http://www.appstorehq.com/networkstatistics-android-174793/app/buy

This seems to be able to monitor battery and CPU by app but not network use by app? Or am I missing that somewhere?

I just discovered : TrafficStats
http: androidapplications.com/105333-network-trafficstats-lite
It does the trick for me,
/barfly...
I've been searching for similar apps as well (light weight)
Found another option...
https://market.android.com/details?id=net.ir.apptrafficfree
Seems to use built in data monitored by the os, for ver 2.2 onwards only though.
Cheers
HR
You need root for: eNETraffic
For what I can tell it only records 3G traffic
And it has the option to block internet access per application only on 3G (when on WiFi everyone allowed, on 3G some blocked)
Dan.
I use 'My Data Manager', it shows usaage by app and also by 3g and Wifi and has several months of data backed up.
There's a free version with ads and a paid one without.
See:
http://bit.ly/s86P3V
Or just falsh one of ICS roms. They've built in data usage monitor with limits, monitoring for each app and other cool stuff.
eNETraffic has new update that includes wifi. Works great. Do need root.

3G Watchdog is the most famous.

Hi,
I need program like spb wireless monitor on my htc hd2 running android, i tried netcounter but i'm not satisfied because it only shows total MB usage it doesn't show what program use what amount of data like spb wireless monitor do... so my question is, is there any program like spb for android???
thanks for your help and offeres...
P.S it doesn't matter if it is not free program ... just urgently i need it...
hey,
been looking for the same thing since switching to android, the closest you're going to get is 'traffic counter pro' or '3g watchdog pro'
both offer free & paid, tho the data per application feature is wildly inaccurate on both apps.

yeh, i bought it a few days ago, app data is a lot more accurate that other apps, but still not as close as it was in wm6.5, all it needs now is a smaller theme-able widget

i agree, its a good app, still use it as a general counter but the sum of the app data (mb), is never equal to the total, not even close. often say an app has use xxxkb when i know its used xxmb

Google Now discussions

Hey guys,
I opened this thread to see how people is using Google Now nowadays. I found myself excited about the launch of it, but now I found it pretty boring and useless. First, I sometimes use it for weather, the other functions are not really working. Everyday I'm going to my workplace, at the same hour, working in the office between 9 am - 2pm and 5 pm - 8 pm. I have the location history enabled, the house address and workplace address both added, I see the statistics in my dashboard and my current location in latitude (no check-ins however), but Google never advised me that I need to leave from home to be in-time at work or reverse. The only things I got was some live scores and some random mistakenly notifications like "78 minutes to home", while I was only like 200 meters away.... Also, I found that if I search my job address in Google Maps, the location is correctly shown, but in dashboard, I'm getting that briefcase (workplace icon) wrong positioned with around 80-100 meters. Otherwise, Google Now is answering to all my questions and working pretty good, but I don't find it really smart...
Google Now works well. It is just that Google Maps have a long way to go. Many routes it shows are not the fastest, etc.
Like you i was pretty excited about the whole thing, the problem is that the tradeoff in battery life simply isn't worth it for me.

absolutly agree with you..
i noticed that when i'm with wifi enabled, if i look at battery usage, wifi is always connected even in standby (with wifi disable option active)
double checked and if Gnow is disabled wif act as it was supposed..
It would be great if there was some way to change the location poll frequency to maybe every 15 minutes or whatever, rather than the default.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
I see no huge changes in battery life since I activated the location and search history in my phone just for Google Now. The problem is that the check-ins are not regular, I'm getting bad locations sometimes, so Google Now can't give me information about when I need to leave home because of traffic or so.... Nothing. Got one notification in a whole month and that one was wrong as I said in my first message. No idea what I need to do instead. Check in at work at the same hour daily? Why the pin sometimes is flying like 500 meters away from my location (that's what I see in dashboard) while the google maps app is showing my location with 16m accuracy even if I'm in a building?

Exactly, the poll frequency is not fixed, google is doing checks when it want so that's why I guess I'm not getting reminds about job etc

Do you mean that even if you have wifi disabled you see it as enabled in battery usage? I'm not getting such thing.

You can change the way each card works and when you want them to appear, also changing the priority of the weather card to low also helps.
Not sure if that's what you meant

Menu -> Settings -> Google Now -> Switch to OFF. then you can delete the location history and search history in Google Dashboard and disable the latitude and all the rest of stuff or you can simply reset the phone and don't activate it again.

He means that the Google is checking your location randomly instead to checking it every 15 minutes or so.
The big question is....how to make Google Now know that I'm starting the work at 9 am, so I will get those cards saying "30 minutes to work" or something like that. Google knows that I'm working as I'm getting those fancy graphics in the Dashboard (https://maps.google.com/locationhistory/b/0/dashboard) saying that I'm working X hours per week and Y hours I'm home, but the data is not accurate perfectly. I reset the data but same story now. Not sure if it's because my location sometimes jumps some kilometers away even if I have the wifi and gps enabled. Do I need to use Latitude and autocheckin or something like that to get accurate data ?

More exactly, traffic cards.
I will try for the next days to click on "Update" here exactly when I'm arriving at office, maybe this way I will make google learn more about my locations...
