[Q] Android Roms

Hey Everyone,
I just traded in my HD2 for an EVO. I must admit that I was a ROM junkie when I had the phone.
Now that I have my EVO ,and I have successfully rooted it, I have discovered that I know none of the ROM developers and dont know the differences between each of the ROMs.
Is there a page that has all the comparisions? I know we had several for the HD2. If not maybe I can tell you what I am looking for and I could get the endless list narrowed down to a couple I could try.
I like both sense and core roms. 4g is a must. No stock apps.
I know all the Roms inprove speeds and battery life.
Any thoughts? Thanks in advance for your help!
Ok I just found the ROM listing. Any idea on which ones I should try first? I know they are all good.
I am running BakedSnack which is not offered here anymore, but I have in the past used Damaged Control and Fresh as well as Cyanogen, If you don't require Sense I'd use CM6.
Cyanogen doesn't have 4G.
If you you want 4G you have to stick with a Sense ROM. They are all good but I think the best ones are Fresh and Myn's. Fresh was my daily driver for a very long time, and Myn's has a very devout following. I'm currently running MIUI but am about to give it up because of how damn buggy it is, and I think I'm going to go with Myn's once I decide to stop being lazy about it.

Myn Warm, Hero_over's Backed Snack, flipmodez's Fresh are complete and polished Sense roms.
Cyanogen or MIUI_EVOv0.11.5 are non-sense roms. They have non-functional components within them (ie HDMI, 4G, poor battery life and/or poor wifi/radio performance)
Thanks for all the help guys!
I'd say myn's warm 2.2 rls3 for a sense based rom and Virus airborne 3.4 for a non-sense based rom. I'd rocking airborne with the netarchy 4.2.1 cfs kernel.
Vaelpak is fully functioning and the dev is very, very responsive to the users of his rom. It is non-sense.
I'm running Myn's rom right now and absolutely love it. It's fully functioning and looks just stunning.
james
Just try them all!
I'm using Azrael 2.4 and I have 3 different launchers. I have Sense UI, Launcher Pro Plus, and Dell Stage.
I changed my density from 240 to 160 and Dell Stage is working like a charm. I don't have to press the App drawer button to go to my apps. All I do is swipe up and the apps appear.
Azrael runs on Sense, yet u can run any launcher and forget about sense whenever u want.
Plus, u get 403+ mb free when u install the rom
Posted from my EVO 4G running Azrael 2.4 with Dell Stage
where do i find that rom
I have an Htc EVO, How do I "ROOT" my phone and what are the benefits of doing it.
Thanks,
Candee

New to the evo

I came to the dark side finally... I had a hero for the longest time and finally gave in to its bigger brother due to a great deal on it. I was running CM6.1 with all of the little tweaks. I'm searching for my daily ROM for my evo and am currently running myns warm twopointtwo. I'm looking for something that retains the 4g function and relatively good on battery life. I figured I would come to you guys for a little help. I have heard lots of good things about aosp's ROMs and the virus series too.
Nice to meet you all and I hope to keep the evo community a bit more productive than what the epic has.
I've been using Fresh 3.5 since I rooted my phone on Christmas Eve. I purchased it on the 23rd. Haven't had much battery issues but I am still near a charger. Using the stock HTC #15 kernel with my Fresh Rom.
However, I heard that other kernels help with battery life. Last I checked was sense based romsretained 4G and camera functionality. However, I could be wrong.

Thanks for that link. Somehow I missed it in the short time I've been meandering about the forums.
check out mikfroyo 4.1..... mega fast. also, look at the sbc 4.2.2 kernal:

Tried that combo and it's AMAZING! Thanks

Myn is off the chain. I would suggest Calkulin's newest kernels for battery performance. You can take your battery off charge and make a 10 min call and still be at 100%. Heres the thread- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=876590
I use the one that says (131)
Myn has everything working. It's fast and snappy.

DI18 ROMs and custom kernals

hi, i was wondering if anyone is still running DI18 ROMs and custom kernals? is there any advantage to this, since DI18 is 'official' code, and all we have for Froyo is leaked code? or are we better off just running DK28 ROMs? thx
I went back to Di18 from DK28. Surprisingly GPS works 100%, I don't know if they changed something or odin flashed the radio better then stock. The main reason I went back is because games play much better on Eclair. I've been playing a lot of Dungeon Defenders and it plays horribly on DK28, I'm pretty sure since it's a beta leak it's not 100% optimized for the gpu.
I've been running DI18 (ACS) and it's great... but I'm tired of being on 2.1 and actually this weekend I'm planning on checking out an EXT4 Midnight ROM with a Gingerbread theme... If that turns out to be good I'll probably be on that until ACS rolls out a 2.2 ROM
cool, thanks for the replies. anyone have any favorite DI18 ROM/custom kernal combinations?
i've been running Viper's ext4 ROM and i love it.... but i'm curious about custom kernals and such.
The version of ACS that I'm running comes with the ACS Xtreme kernel. It's pretty fast (I'm actually not running the most updated one) and allows the 1.2ghz overclock step which you just flat out can't do with 2.2 until source is released
When I was running 2.1 I had the best experience with Syndicate or Epic Experience. Great speed and awesome battery life. I just moved back to 2.2 on the Truly Epic with EXT4 and its probably the best I've run so far

thanks guys, just curious about maybe playing around with undervolting/overclocking. i might try syndicate or epic experience.

I never gave EE a chance, for no particular reason, I just never had the time.
I heard that EE + Phoenix Kernel was a great combination for battery life but for speed I've heard ACS + Xtreme was the way to go. It definitely is fast and I get slightly better than stock battery life idle, but under really heavy use worse than stock (at 1.2ghz I can't really say I'm surprised)
Who still runs on di18??? Lol just joking. At least there are custom kernels for eclair. I just want my flash and my GPS works so.much better on froyo than eclair.

hey thanks, that was what I was looking for... would hit the thanks button, but I'm on the phone now
so I might try those 2 setups, just for fun.
Big + for flash! That's like 90% of the reason I'm on 2.2 now. Such a shame I could watch live bball & fball on my old WM6 HTC Touch but couldn't on my Epic. I just couldn't deal with that reality any longer lol

I used Phoenix & Viper Eclair rom (Forgot which one)
I'm on stock DI18 rom with Phoenix kernel, only because it is the only rom I'm able to use MobileAP app. But I deleted all LWP, and all of the bloatware. Battery life is good, calibrated and all. I am using JD, setcpu at min/200-max800. Gps works, as well as my games run way better. Staying here til we get our own source code for froyo....not holding my breath lolz!

Any good roms?

Been awhile since i got a new rom, wanted some input on some good roms out there. Any opinions would be fine, aosp and sense, and also battery life? I dont want my phone dying quickly
Been really happy with MikG 2.2. It's stable, fast, and feature rich.

If you don't have 4g or just don't care, MIUI is a nice change. Lots of features. Very easy theming
Evo HW 003
MIUI 1.7.1
As in all of these threads, I refer you to VaelPak. See the link in my signature.
Another good ROM is Deck's AOSP project.
With any ROM, you'll also want to look into kernels, undervolting, etc. to get the most out of your battery.
MikG and synergy are both great

I've had a lot of fun with Calkulin's EViO 2 series and now the release of EViO 3 series
CM7.1 with Tiamat 3.3.7 SBC, RedGinger theme, customized LauncherPro, and the ViperMOD undervolting script is my current setup, and it is a ton of fun. Look around the Themes & Apps section and plan a nice fun setup. Battery life for me with this setup is superb; 20 hours of moderate use and I'm at 38% on the stock battery.
tl;dr: Cyanogenmod 7.1 + Tiamat 3.3.7 + theme/fun setup + ViperMOD = fun, aesthetical glory, and a great battery life.

Synergy ROM
I really like this rom. I've just switched from cm7, so I haven't mastered it yet or anything... I can't get my boot animation to change through ....data/local/bootanimation.zip .... It still plays the synergy mod animation, anyone know how to fix that?
Thanks in advance
oh yeah :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1144447
i recommend myn's warm 2.2 RLS5(used this ROM for 5 months).
I recently flashed Synergy RC1 as my new daily.
both are very stable with minimal bugs and are very user-friendly.
myn's 2.2 or Synergy.
Sorry, just curious. Is there a stable sense 3.0 rom available?
MikG 2.2 for Sense & CM7.0.3.1 for ASOP
Synergy RC1 or MikG 2.2 for sense and Decks 1.2.1 or Salvagemod 1.3 for aosp.

Dude thats pretty tops battery life . Can you post a link for that rom?
I'm thinking of rooting soon. Just been using stock so far.
Stock seems nippy but sometime I get a blank screen and lag when going back to home from apps such as Chrome beta.
Do stock roms and kernals make a big difference performance wise?
Also, I would like a rom where everything works with no problems.
Any suggestions?

The lag is due to the launcher going out of memory. Our nexus has only 512 MB ram. Flash a kernel with Bigmem mod and it would be gone.
I feel they do make a difference but stock is naturally the most stable rom.
For a stable rom try:
Stable versions of CM9
Milestone releases of AOKP
Bugless beast for a close to stock experience,

My ns4g was laggy before.
I'm running stock rom with matrix kernel and apex launcher. Couldn't be happier and my phone is lag free and 10x snappier running @1485mhz
Stock ICS was very laggy for me even with different kernels, OC, and launchers.
When I switched to custom roms (CyberGR and now CM9 nightly) that lag completely disappeared even without OC.
I've been on CM9 a week now and it's worked pretty much flawlessly.
Highly recommended.
