Doing a warranty claim - HD2 General

Hey guess...if i need to send my phone in...what should I do to clean it up to make sure theres no sign of ROM tampering etc? So as to avoid..voiding...the warranty?

Do a Task29 and then flash back to a stock ROM. This wil normaly remove the HSPL aswell.

exactly what ive done...thanks !
just wanted to make sure there wasnt anything else.

What do i need to do before sending my TC for repairs.

I need to turn in my Touch Cruise to HTC for repairs. What do I need to do before i turn it in to HTC so they wont know that there was a cooked rom on the device?
Hey there, please make sure you wait for an experienced member to reply to you on this as i'm not 100% sure, but what you can do in the meantime is download the factory ROM and make sure the software and radio rom goes back to the original.
As for HardSpl if its installed, i'm not sure if they can detect this or not after installing the factory ROM so just make sure you wait for an experience member to reply.
Just make sure you have an offivial Rom on you device
Be friendly in the repair center and the this will be now problem
they will fix it
What is the problem with you device?
hi, personnally i had a problem with my TC : it didnt charge & was no longer recognized by the PC when i plugged the miniUSB thing.
So i couldnt setup the original rom before sending it to factory for repair, i just sent it as it was and they just changed the motherboard because the mini-usb receiver wasnt working anymore.
They also installed the original rom.
Like many other people who have sent their TC to repair without reinstalling the original rom (that i read them saying it in other forums), i had no problem.
So i think if you can, just install back the original rom, but if you dont they may not be going to bother you for that, even more that they will install the original rom after repairing your PDA.

If you want to make your device look exactly like it did when it came out of the factory, as well as flashing an original ROM you will also need to restore the original SPL. Instructions on how to do both as well as the applicable downloads are contained in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=381600
Thanks for your help

What to backup?

What do i need to backup before flashing HD with new rom, as to not void the warranty? As in, i need to be able to be able to get the device in the same state as it was when i opened the box in case i need to use the warranty, but i'm guessing there's a little more to it then just backing up the rom. I know i need to backup the original ROM, and i got that covered with this guide. What else? I think i need to backup the radio also, but i don't know how. Could anyone explain and link me the tutorials? Thanx
EDIT: Do i actually need to install a new radio so i can flash a new rom, or can i just backup the original ROM and then just flash a new one, without messing with anything else?
If i use USPL, do i need to backup anything besides the original ROM?

crashed my hd2

my hd2 stops booting after i tried flashing a new rom and it now shows a caution sign.can any one help?
I don't know enough to help you but it will be more helpful for other experienced users if you perhaps explained what you did before this happened such as anything you installed or removed that might have lead to this problem
i was trying to flash a new rom
you may have bricked your device, this could have been because of a corrupt rom or maybe you messed up the flashing procedure. What SPL did you use? If you used SoftSPL then it looksike you may have an expensive paperweight now (I may be wrong but I dont think theres anh way of recovering your device because the custom spl is only there temporarily. If you used hardspl then you are ok because you can just flash a stock rom.
Otherz correct me if im wrong
how do i flash a stock rom now that its not booting up
how did u flash it in the first place? hard spl? or soft?
if you used hard, then you should be able to flash another rom over it..using hard.
but if ou used soft, i dont know, but u might be able to use goldcard for recovery? worth shot
did You use hspl or sspl?
Im not too sure on the specifics but I will try to help you out as best I can or find someone better
(bear in mind i might not answer till the morning as i will go to bed soon, its 1.45 here @[email protected]
i used hspl.but i had gold card on my sd card.but when i was flashing it, it booted from the phone with options to cancel or continue
Talk to mskip, Im sure he can help you out

how to go back to stock rom ???

any one knows how to go back to stock rom ??? I just send my hd2 to htc for repairs (screen is cracked) , but they told me that because is hacked and it has a different software the will not do the work unless i go beck to the original version ,. Any ideas ?
run hspl1024 and choose 2.08.0000
download the stock rom and flash it.
job done
you can find the stock rom in the stock rom thread HERE
it will not show that is hacked any more ?
when you enter bootloader and look where it says 'spl', , if the number to the right ends .0000 then its stock and all will be fine, if it ends hspl, , well, its not.
to be honest the rom doesnt matter, it's the hspl that they refused you for.
He is right. Flashing Roms isnt what voids your warranty its changing your SPL to HSPL. If you switch it back they will not know the difference. Other than that they already had the phone and probably noted it down.

You have to flash an older rom like 1.66 first. Then you can install hspl 2.08. Then remeber to update radio before flashing magldr.

You sure you ain't messing up on the details? I think that older rom installs spl 2.08, after which he has to flash hspl3. Just to make sure OP ain't gonna be searching his ass off on hspl 2.08 if it doesn't exist Could be wrong though, never been so keen on all the spl stuff!
I think it's important we know why he wants to do this. He may be wasting his time and invalidating his warranty for no reason. I've seen no end of people on here asking about flashing HSPL on their device when it turns out they only want to run Android from the SD, and they've already got a 2.15 radio!
Wait and see what he says.
How does flashing HSPL void your warranty? You can always flash back to stock, and when things get messed up during the flashing process, having HSPL installed should be a lifesaver?

Flashing back to stock removes traces of the fact that you did it in the first place. It does void your warranty though. If your phone were physically damaged and being repaired or replaced under warranty, if (unlikely as it is) they got it working and saw HSPL on there, they'd sent it back to you and tell you you've voided the warranty.
Besides, there's no reason he should flash HSPL unless it's relevant. What if he accidentally pulls the USB cable out while flashing? If he didn't need HSPL in the first place that would be a pretty big shame!

True, but if they want a NAND version on their device, I assume this is necessary?
You have a point though, but next to that, as soon as you read XDA, you're going to void that warranty anyway ;-)

Yes, you're right. Just because i was asking the same question when i needed to install magldr when i had a 3.14 rom doesn't mean he needs the same.

True that. So remember kids: always completely trash your phone before sending it back to HTC!

Hi, I want to install LEO "Stock" NAND Android ROM
I started reading the thread [TUT] Flashing your First GSM 512LEO Rom (For Noobs) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=609477
Obviously I got stuck on the "2. FLASH HARDSPL (REQUIRED!! DO THIS BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE)"
I am a noob so I might have misunderstood something but I intend to follow these steps:
1. Flash HardSPL (HSPL3_PKG.zip)
2. Install MAGLDR 1.11 (DFT_LEO_MAGLDR111.rar)
3. Install Android NAND package (DFT_LEO_NAND_Android.rar)
Thanks for your help....
