hello guys i have a question.. my contacts are on my sim card.. and when i press favorites i cant put them on favorites and i can't put them a picture can anybody help me??

You need to transfer your contacts from your sim card to your phone.

Hi, I believe that you have to save your SIM Contacts to your phone and then you can add pictures and put them on favourites. There is an Import SIM Contacts feature under People/All People/Menu. i think you can find information on this in the User Guide.

How to edit/remove contact favorites

Hi - does anyone know how to edit or remove favourites on the contacts screen? None of the menu options has it (or it's not obvious). I've set up some contacts with the "wrong" default contact method and I want to change it.

Thanks Soledue. Typical - I sort of discovered the method not long after I posted and it's how you describe. The people widget can show any group - Favorites is just one of them! Cheers.

Am I being really dumb, because I'm having a problem with this too and your solution doesn't seem to solve it!?
All I want to do is remove some people from the "Favorites" group.
I have selected that contact, chosen "Edit", opened the groups list and unchecked the box. The list on the contact's screen still shows "Favorites" and they still appear on the widget. Go back in to edit the contact and the box is still unchecked.
If I open People and then open the groups screen, select the group and long press the contact I have the following menu items: "Call Mobile", "Edit Contact", "Delete Contact", and "Send contact as vCard". Delete contact does exactly that, delete's them completely from the phone.
So how can I get these people out of the Favorites group???

It's prob cause it's still on the Google sync'd contact...had some issues with it myself

My feeling was the same, especially since I have been able to get the contacts removed from the group and widget only to have them reappear minutes later. I assumed this was the result of the phone sync'ing. But I can't quite figure it out... if I view the contact in gmail they aren't a member of the "Starred" group and there is no "Favorite" group, so I think that group must be local to the device.

I am getting the same also, if you view the details they are not in any group, yet show on the widget and in the favourites group itself. Even went to google and removed the notes that, I think, related to the group entry???

Same problem here!
I've added a contact to the Favorites Tab and now I can't delete it from the Group. I've tried all the methods from above posts but none works.
Does anyone know how to fix this, because it's quite frustrating!

The only prob I have , i that every group has " voice mail " in it .. at the top!!...
cant get rid of it .. and it's not part of grp settings
any ideas?

i would like to know that how can i remove the Voicemail number from the contact list widget? tried doing it many times but it keeps on showing no matter what. i dont have a voicemail number and if i had it, it will never be my fave number ever. please help

I have spent all day trying to remove one contact that was stuck in the favourites and your idea worked instantly.
I could remove and add other users just not this particular people.

I have had a similar issue to all mentioned in this thread, and there is a way to resolve it.
I beleive the problem is caused by multiple entries per contact. These entries are from your contact, sim contact, google contacts etc.
This is how I fixed the issue;
>Click on the people app
>Select the contact you want to fix (unfortunately it has to be done individually)
>on the top right of the screen there will be something call "Linked", tap on this
>this now shows you what this contact is linked to. If it shows multiple phone, facebook, google etc unlink them all
>make sure you only 1 phone contact, in this set the Group to favourite (or whatever you want), now either link the google/hotmail etc ones to it, or copy the details to the contact and delete all duplicate details
I have condensed mine to phone contact and facebook (plus a few with google).
The desire links all different contact details from various form together. when it does this it picks its own default one, hence you have favourites that aren't, or vice versa.
It took me about 2 to 3 hours to go through my entire contacts list sort it out, pain-staking, but well worth it

I'd been at the groups menu and looked at my favorite contacts, but it never occurred to me to remove them from the group directly! Spent several hours editing this one contact I was dying to remove from favorites, only to find it stuck as a favorite. Went through my Google Contacts settings over and over, synchronizing manually every minute after un-starring it, but this was what I was looking for!

[Q] Error occurs when join two contacts??

When I use the following steps to join two contacts together:
1. Open your contacts or favorites.
2. Touch the contact entry to which you want to add information.
This is the contact you will see in Contacts after the join.
3. Press Menu and touch Edit contact.
4. Press Menu and touch Join.
5. Touch the contact whose information you want to join with the first contact.
The information from the second contact is added to the first contact, and the
second contact is no longer displayed in the Contacts list.
.....described in its Users Guide
Then one Error occurs and one window pops up saying:
"The process android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again." Afterwards, that joined contact can NOT be edited any longer because the same error keeps showing up!
Just wondering if anyone encounters this problem too?

I joined a bunch of contacts when I first got my phone, I was joining phone contacts with Facebook contacts though. Everything worked fine.

When I create two new contacts simply with names and phone numbers on my Nexus s without facebook or Internet connection, and then join them together, that Error message occurs. So could you try this for me? If this is still not working, I think I will go to Bestbuy for exchanging a new one within 30 days....
The reason to find this problem is to copy all my contacts from my N95 stored in the sim card to Nexus s.

Duplicate SMS problem

I seems to be getting every sms 4 times even though the senders are only sending once. What could this be? Im running the Darky ROM v8

I have the same problem! mine ROM is Darky's v8.0 XXJPY, and operator Czech Vodafone

This is because you have press backup button when google ask you whether you wanted to backup your contacts... To solve this.. Go to "contacts".. Open any contact no that have "g" beside the contact... Go to "linked contacts".. Delete all contacts that have "g" beside it.. After that press backwards button.. You will see many duplicated phone no... Again, delete all contacts which have "g" beside it... I'm afraid you going to do the same thing to all other contacts..

Boss i dint get you............all my contacts are stored on my gmail account..........so all the contacts have a 'g' next to them. also , I am getting each sms not 4 but 8-12 times. Please help. I am on rooted XXJPY.

In that case its either the well known SMS problem google or use XDA search .
Or if its only just started guess what the common factor is in two your posts .
Removing that common factor may fix problem .Big clue it begins with D

Nope, i am not on Darky's. I just have a rooted XXJPY since over a month..............and this problem started more recently, say for about a week or two.

what i meant to say is your contacts no have been duplicated..
1) go to "contacts".. This is your phone contacts
2) press any contacts that have "g"..
3) delete any multiple contacts..
sorry... Hard to write long sentence cause i'm using my phone..

Hi, I have same problem with my brothers phone. Using Same Daryk 9.2 ROM no issues on my phone but i don't us SMS much.
What is the well known SMS problem. I have been searching for 30 minuites. A link would be nice or even a search term
Edit, More searching and it seems in January a lot of people had an SMS problem where SMS went to the wrong person. Not one said anything about duplicate SMS.

Might be a very nooby question however i have searched and have found little threads on the topic.
Recently upgraded from win mob 6.5 to MDJ's CyanogenMod v.2.6 and have a bit of a problem.. when i try to access the contacts tab it says "you don't have any contacts to display" yet when i put my sim in my old c902 all my contacts come up, bearing in mind that 99% of my contacts were saved to sim.
I'm not too sure what has happend... my contacts don't seem to have been erased so how would i go about getting them back?? tried import etc... says no files are found.
help would be appreciated!!

It not display contact in your simcard you have go to contact then press menu button then chose import/export => import from simcard to copy contacts from sim to phone memory. hope this info can help you.

thanks for your reply but i already tried importing from simcard however it says there are no contacts on my simcard

2 - Go on Phone information
3 - Disable radio Signal
4 - Wait until it is completely disabled
5 - Enable it
6 - Wait until it completely enable
