Rooting X10 does not void warranty - XPERIA X10 General

Hey all, just a head up to those afraid to root because of warranty. I rooted mine and the phone stopped charging the following day. I returned it for repair thinking it won't be repaired but it has been fixed with a new IMEI given. So if you are scared, fear not. ROOT AWAY.

I think it does but if they find out the has been rooted

What is "loggex backon"?

must be the old keyboard in x10

Hey, my phone just stopped charging today and Rogers said it doesn't matter if it's rooted since the phone is meant to be open-source. I am also getting my phone replaced by them... Does the charging matter have to do with the root?
Ps- wtf is a loggex backon? lol?

How about when the phone has been unlocked?

Wow... that is so unlike Rogers! But, good to know anyways.
By the way my phone stopped charging within days of me first getting the phone. Turns out that the USB cable was faulty.
How about the condition when you have unlocked the phone?
Does Rogers respect the warranty if the phone has been unlocked by entering the SIM unlock code?

[Q] g2 turns on with blank screen. please help

hello so i put my t-mobile g2 down for a while, about 15 minutes, and when i came back to it all i saw was a blank screen. so i removed the battery and put it back in and when i turn it on all i get is a black screen. my phone was already perm rooted with cyanogenmod rom 6.1. i dont know what to do now. i hope someone can help me.
does any one have any input on what to do? i just got my phone like 2 weeks ago
Thank you
As silly as this sounds, did your battery die? Try plugging it into a power source and then turn it on. See what you get.

thanks for the reply. yes ive charged it too. i think somethings wrong with just the screen. i can blindly do random stuff with the phone. i can unlock and lock the phone because i can hear the sounds and ive also played music because i know where on the home screen the icon is. i just cant see anything on the phone for some reason. it was completely random. ive never dropped the phone
Anyone have any ideas?

Considering the screen won't turn on... No, I think you will be fine. Plus, not very many people at T-mobile even know what root is.

Well, say they do. I'm sure they have better stuff to do then hunt and back track and find out where that G2 came from just to return it back to you and say "No, you can't have that replacement G2. Now give it back." I just wouldn't worry about it to be honest. But that's just my $0.02

Quick warranty question

I have a MT4G here that has a bad eMMC chip. It will not boot or load any firmware but I can get to the hboot and recovery menu. I am not the original owner. Will HTC still warranty it? How would I go about getting a warranty replacement directly from HTC? Im sure somebody out there has done or tried this before.
Don't get the warranty from htc. Get it from t-mobile. It will make your life much easier
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
Will T-Mobile warranty it even though I am not the original owner and I didnt get it from the T-Mobile store? Its a phone I bought off of ebay. Also last time I tried to warranty a MT4G through them (about 4 days ago) they said they were out of stock and tried to give me a Galaxy S 3G.
I got my replacement the other day, and while I was reading through a few things, it said that the warranty does not transfer from customer to customer...might be SOL

That is why I am asking. The warranty info says it does not transfer from customer to customer but I know some people on this forum have gotten ebay or craigslist phones warrantied. I just wanna know how they did it.
Try to transfer to Technical Support when you use Live Chat. I did it on my HD7 which I bought it secondhand and still received a replacement.
I am having the same exact issue, but I happen to be the original owner of the phone. Are they not going to charge me when they find out that my phone is rooted? My phone boots the tmobile splash screen and will get into hboot/recovery, but it will not flash anything.

I just want to be 100% clear on what your talking about. You mean live chat on the T-Mobile website, correct? What if they ask if its my original phone or when they receive it they notice its a different IMEI than the one I originally purchased from them?

If it has original hboot/recovery, and can't get past the splash screen, there's 100% no way to tell it was rooted. Someone correct me if that is wrong?

I am using clockwork recovery so they will definitely notice that it has been tampered with. I guess I'm just looking for a way to get a new phone without being charged for it.

Well.. there's no way to have the original Hboot and be rooted. it will say S-OFF. Yes, you can still have the original 0.86 hboot or whatever - but it will still say s off.

I believe that T-Mobile only checks the order number when it processes replacements. Then again, I am prepaid so I have to send in the faulty device first before I receive the replacement so I am not entirely sure. But I know that my secondhand HD7 (bought on a contract by the original owner) was replaced by T-Mobile without any issues.
Ill talk with a tmobile rep online tomorrow. Mine has the engineering bootloader and clockwork recovery with s-off. Looks like ill be putting some extra voltage through the charging port to try and fry it so they cant even boot it. That way they cant tell it was rooted!

Have you tried flashing the stock ROM/hboot? [ROM]Glacier_TMOUS_1.17.531.2_Radio_12.28b.60.140e_26.0 3.02.26_M_release
If that doesn't work, you could also try flashing that and pulling the battery so it really bricks and then doesn't turn on...

I sent my phone in with the same problem with S-off and cw recovery installed and they didnt care. They just charged me $10 for shipping.
I really feel we need to re make the unrooting guide...It has to address S-Off,tock Hboot/Radio,stock recovery, stock rom all in one place for users.

[Q] Bricked Phone? Can't even turn on to recovery and not charging...

holy cow!! I think I just bricked my phone... I hope someone can help me.
Here's the situation. I was on the latest MIUI 1.6.17 demonSPEED v.1.2. Everything was awesome! Then today I went to my dentist and there was a sign that said that they are not in today and to call a number. I was about to call, then everything got stuck. I needed to call them, so I just did a flash in front of the dentist's office with the ROM I had on my SD card.
re-flashed v1.2 with no problem and I was about to select "reboot my phone", then I was like, oh i'll re-flash Swype as well... the swype zip got stuck for like 5 minutes during the flash (and I still needed to call the dentist). So I was like, ok I'll just pull off the battery and restart the flashing procedures...
That's when I put the battery back and the phone won't even boot up now. I'm now home (didn't even get to call my dentist yet after all that), and plugged in the charger and it won't even charge now (orange LED not turning on)... Can't even boot it in recovery. Phone is unresponsive to any buttons...
Does anyone know of any other way to even turn the phone on?
Geez, that was the Noobiest mistake ever!! All that because I had to make a call... WOw, I'm speechless thinking of my stupidity! I hope someone can help...
Thanks in advance guys!
Quite honestly dude i dont think you have much to hope for except to call tmo and tell them its broken. If its truly bricked even they cant confirm it since they cant turn it on. Only thing i think you could try is pluging it into your pc and trying to see if the pc recognizes it and lets you run adb commands or something similar. Hope this helps.

yup, the thing is that I'm not a T-Mobile customer anymore. I wonder how I'm even gonna get in contact with them to get a replacement. I remember from being their customer, that the first thing they ask you is your phone number with them. If you didn't have one, they just said they can't help you... Does that sound about right?

yeah man, that was the analysis of the customer service rep that was helping me. He thinks that the battery somehow is knocked out... That's why he's shipped out a battery. Just waiting for that to confirm that it's the battery or something else! If that doesn't solve it, I'll have to send it back to HTC for repairs. Probably won't be able to get a replacement with T-Mobile since I cancelled my account with them like 4 months ago already... but thanks for the input!

Unlocking bootloader X8

Hello
I have posted something similar in the thread where you told us not to unlock the bootloader if your phone is highier than 11W29. But unfortunately I didnt read that thread and I have now a dead phone and my phone´s date is 11W46 (I know I messed up big time here). So my question is: Can I do anything now? Should I look for help with ppl that have the JTAG/RIFF box to resurrect my dead phone or just go to the shop and ask for a new one?
The problem is that I am not sure if my warranty is lost this way and if they will give me a refund...
Please give me back the hope of brining my phone to life again :´´(
If you have tried to unlock the bootloader you have rooted your phone. If you have rooted it you have broken the warranty so im sorry about that.

Go to shop and say that phone was dead at normal use! If in repair center will find that you brick phone by yourself you will pay some money. I was bricked my daughters phone (11W35) and take it to nearest mobile phone workshop (not SE warranty), phone was be repaired in 1 day and that was cost 15 Euros.

Great news for me . Thank you for sharing that. I could go to the shop then and just tell em the phone died. Thank you guys a lot for the optimism I ll do my best to bring it to life again
Just take it to the shop and say that you put your phone to charge and since than it cant start

I don't think the bootloader is unlocked it looks like someone rooted the phone and turn it into T-Mobile and they just mailed you. You can try to download the new firmware and flashing it and doing a reset factory to see if it will fix it.
Generally that means you can do as you please such as root and fladhing

Well we can't really assume that the bootloader came unlocked unless we have something to detail the current condition of the bootloader. Right?
