Reset FC'ing stock browser without root - Vibrant General

I performed about:debug in the stock browser, selected UI settings - desktop, and now my browser is FC'ing. Can anyone tell me how to reset the browser without root?
Or maybe uninstall the browser? I have the stock .apk, but it won't let me uninstall.
Thanks for your help.

Got to settings: Applications: Manage Applications: press the menu button and select filter: select all: scroll down to the bottom and find Web: Clear the Data and the Cache!!! That should un-do the about:debug. I did that too and got the same FC'ing, did the procedure above, All is ok now! Hope this helps....

It Works!!!

TrackID Force closes now, after update

Hi guys,
Just wondering if anyone else has experienced TrackID force closing after updating to the new firmware? I have recently updated to R2BA020, generic global handset from 014. I use this quite regularly and bit disappointed to see this happen after the update.
Also PlayNow was missing for me after the update but found a solution to that. Download OI File Manager, go to System/Apps find the playnow.apk and playnowupdater.apk and install them both and then it worked fine.
Any help for TrackID appreciated.
I had the same issue.
Just go in Settings - Applications - Manage application, select TrackID, then you should have a button "Clear data". Press it and try again to start the app.

[GUIDE] CM7 Home Button Tweak Fix

So I was bothered by not having a home button on screen of CM7 on the Kindle, so I was looking around setting and saw that you can add custom application launching on long press of the search button at the bottom. Awesome right? So I went over to the market, ran a search for "Home Button" and downloaded the first one on the list and assigned it to the long press for search button. Now I can get to the home screen on ease!
Is CM7 worth the install though? I mean with no audio functionality and misc. other bugs still, why not just keep your kfire rooted running a launcher like GO ex or ICS launcher?
Serious question as I'm still new to all this. Kfire is my first experience into the android/smartphone/tablet world. But love the hack/mod'ing. I want a new rom but not sure if the recently released CM7 is worth it right now.
I guess my real question is, why did you decide to go ahead and start using CM7?
You can easily add home button through settings on CM7. Settings - Cyanogen Settings - Tablet Tweaks - Choose soft buttons and check /uncheck the buttons you would like.
Yay thankx.

Thanks! The only thing is when I go to Settings>Cyanogen Settings it automatically force closes:
"The applications Settings (process com.android.settings) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."
Funny thing is, I can go into Settings and select any of the other categories, i.e. Display, Applications, Accounts & Sync, etc. But when I select Cyanogen Settings I get a force close... any ideas?

I have the exact same problem. As a temporary solution I'm pressing the power button down for 1 second. This brings up a menu with a shortcut to the home screen.
I don't expect to be able to solve the problem of opening the CM Settings, but I'm looking for a way to enable the home button from the shell.

Did you clear the Cache and Dalvik Cache when you flashed the CM7 ROM?
I'm wondering if this has to do with the FC. Generally speaking you should do this when flashing new ROMs just to purge previous ROM data.

Yes I did. I was suprised to find that the app's i'd installed under KF standard were still installed. Does that mean I did the clear incorrectly?
I'm going to try re-installing again and see if anything changes.

Dalvik is the base running platform for android apps, and the Dalvik cache normally houses user data and app settings. Wiping it should clear everything from a previous flash if done correctly.
Make sure you are wiping it before you boot into your newly flashed ROM to avoid anything wonky happening.

I'm using TWRP2 to flash the the CM7 update.zip. After a minute or so I get the option to "Wipe Cache/Dalvik".
I've just done this for the third time and noticed that the output from the wipe operation ends with:
Code:
/sd-ext not present, skipping
I don't know if that is significant.
I have also tried wiping the cache first from the TWRP2 wipe menu.

Getting a CM Settings forceclose?
I was having this exact same issue while using TWRP2.0 to install CM7. I was wiping system, cache and dalvik cache... just like everyone was saying. I figured out that you have to do Factory Reset as well. Once you do all four steps: Wipe System, Cache, Dalvik Cache and do a Factory Reset, CM7 installed perfectly and the CM settings no longer force closes.
See if that works for you.
Nick
That works perfectly! Even Amazon Appstore working now when it wasn't before.

[Q] Uninstalled apps in market

I experiment with some apps, install them via market, after a short time uninstall them. Now, market shows "installed" for uninstalled apps. Is there any way to "told" the market that these apps are uninstalled?

Depending on which ROM you're using: Menu >settings >applications >manage applications (if you're on CM7) >scroll down to the Market app, press it and select clear data. You will need to sign back into the Market once you open it again.

[Q] MN5 - Downloaded market Apps won't install

I have a new Nook Color running 1.4.2 and followed the instructions with CWM 3.2.0.1 and MN 5.02.19. Everything looks good except apps won't install. I see the Android market and have downloaded all apps from my Google account. I can see they are downloaded but when I try to install, nothing happens.
I've used NookColor Tools to force stop, clear data and clear cache in the Market app but still can't install.
Edit: I've reinstalled with the apps2sd version plus the stock kernel. Still no joy. Have spent an entire day getting nowhere. I see that NookColor Tool doesn't have any hidden white text on a white background. It's all white text on black background. Toggleing the tick box doesn't seem to do anything.
Can anyone please help me?
heh... toggling that select box breaks app installs for me. I fixed it by rerunning the sd-boot root again. After the root, just verify that the box is selected.
There's also the solution from old_fart
you try clearing the cache and data of both the Google Play Store app and the Download manager
1.Visit Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage applications
2.Tab over to "All"
3.Select the Google Play Store app, and then tap "Clear data" and "Clear cache;" then, select Download manager and tap "Clear data" and "Clear cache"
Good luck

Thanks Ron, I do remember the select box in NookColor Tool was already ticked after I ran the sd-boot root. I'll try once more.....Could the problem be that the Market isn't updating to Google Play Store? I'm stuck with the old Android Market. I can see my paid-for apps but it won't download them for installation. Can I force an update?
ps. old_fart's solution didn't work for me
Third time lucky....I tried the root again and this time I didn't toggle the NookColor Tool tick box. Market started it's upgrade to Play Store within seconds and Angry Birds installed first time. Thanks Ron

help with flash player.

Ok I downloaded the flash player to the tablet and installed it. And the flash player settings ask you what browser you wish to use, so I selected chrome, which doesn't support flash on jelly bean. So I wanted to un associate flash with the chrome browser so I can associate it with firefox but I cannot figure out how to do this.
I tried un installing flash, but when I re install flash, it doesn't ask me which browser to use again, it just opens setting up directly in chrome again.
is there a way to un do this. I've looked around and could not find any help.
Yes, of course there is a way to do this.
Go to Settings - Apps - Chrome - scroll down a bit and click on clear defaults
