on the iphone when you were browsing the internet in safari, you could tap the top bar and the page used to auto scroll up to the top of the web page, a very neat feature.
eg: youtube.com/watch?v=pvMGVWKkTkE
is there a way to do this on the SGS? or do we have to manually scroll up?
Thanks
Try pressing the menu button. It Will bring up the address bar.

This doesn't bring you to the top of the page, as requested, but perhaps will give the man what he truly desires.
In case you're looking to get to the top without scrolling, you can reload the page which in my experience brings you to the top of the page. However, this I admit, is an ugly fix, especially on 3G and moreso if you have a limited data plan.

just flick your finger and it takes u to the top in one scroll... if your viewing a stupidy long blog then do it twice. cant see how this is even desirable, just because the iphone browser has one?

Back in the dark days when I had an iPhone there was an app called QuickLock. By touching it, it would shut the screen off the same as hitting the power button on the Galaxy S. Does anyone know of or better yet tried an app that does this?
Thanks
Even better to me is to emulate what "activator" in iPhone could do, which allows users to configure their preferred gesture for blanking the screen. I chose to slide my finger from the home button up. This method is superior to pressing the button as in Quicklock because it does not require the user to come to the desktop to look for the icon. In other word, you can enter off the screen from anywhere. I like it especially on my iPad, because the case is designed in a way that makes pressing the power button a little difficult to effect.

Just the way it is designed I suppose - given the limited amount of space on the screen, they've probably assumed that most people are more likely to want a full screen view when they scroll down to read something.
You only need to press menu to get it back, wherever you are on a page.

Dave

this or when you can't see the address bar you can press the back button on the capacitive buttons and it will direct you to the top of the page address bar and all.
Problem? I always thought this was a fantastically clever feature.
Ok its gonna take some getting used to I guess.
Also why is the brightness settings in the web seperate from the control panel?
And is there a way I can get the system settings screen swipe pull down menu while on the web? Sorry for the questions and thanks for the help

How do I get the home screen like the evo with that cool clock/wheather widget?
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
Long press on your home screen, select widgets, scroll down to clock and select it. It will bring up a clock widget selector. Hit the right arrow at the bottom until you see the clock you want and hit select. There ya go.
Sweet, thvm.
One more:
I like the curved action bar near the bottom that has the phone icon, app dock arrow, and the fav/cuctom button. How do i get that?
Thanks
You would need to try a different rom with the standard version of sense, or see if you can find some type of theme.

Like the above post says, you'll need to root and load a custom ROM to get standard Sense on the MT4G. See my sig for a link to the direct port of the Desire HD ROM, it's awesome!
Thank you for the help

No problem! Hit the 'thanks' button if you'd like.
I am very much beginning to love the MT4G. There's one thing that's really bugging me. I've tried numerous keyboards but when I go to type a text or email in landscape, the stupid bar which has three options (Send, Save As, or Discard) block the view of what is being typed.
I cannot type in portrait mode because my fingers are too fat. I want to see what I'm typing. There would be plenty of room to see the text if the aforementioned bar were gone. It's not necessary because on can hit the menu button to get those options.
Is there a way to get rid of the bar so one can see what they are typing? Is there a keyboard which allows one to see what they are doing?
I don't see what you see, but I'm using better keyboard 7.

You mean in the email client
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
Yes, I mean in both the stock email and texting programs. I'm using the Better Keyboard program also. The text space is mostly blocked by the menu bar for Send, Save As, or Discard. This is senseless because all those options and more are one fingerpress away by hitting the menu button. When typing, I can barely see the top of what I'm typing.
This is frustrating because I use my mobile device to answer email from 3 accounts. This is the biggest flaw with this device. The other flaws are the lousy indoor pictures and the screen size. I would have made it at least 4" but would have preferred 4.3".

Are you rooted so you can use shoot me to take a screen cap? I have no idea what menu you are talking about. If you're rooted are you running a custom ROM?
I've attached a screen cap so you can see what I do on my phone.
Catastrophic, thanks for the post. I'm not rooted. My screen looks just like yours except that I've got a bar with send, save as, and discard covering up the top white portion of the screen where the text you're typing is displayed. There's got to be some setting where that bar can be disabled.

Sounds Like a glitch to me. THe only thing thats a pain in the ass to me is you cant see the convo window while yoeur typing lol.
SGS2 is a fantastic phone but one of the most annoying things I find is when you zoom in on the browser, the webpage doesn't seem to do the screen auto-fit.
Double tapping it doesn't seem to do the trick either where this feature is available to the former SGS1.
I have already ticked the box for Auto-fit in the settings menu to no avail. I use browser zooming all the time and it's frustrating you have to scroll from left to right and vice versa to read for every single line. It's doing my head-in!! What else can I do to make this work?
Thanks in advance.
You need to totally zoomed out of the page then double tap and the text will be rearranged.
If you are already zoomed in, double tap once will do a zoom out, do that one more time to auto-fit the text.

This is another reason why not to use the stock SGS2 browser (the other being that it brings the battery to its knees).
Try Menu > More > Settings, uncheck "Open pages in overview", and check "Auto-fit pages".

Double tapping only switches between overview and default zoom level - both of them do allow auto-fit. However, if you zoom in at a level greater than the default zoomed-in level, it certainly does not perform the auto-fit again as it should be and in this case double tapping would only take it back to overview level. I regularly need to zoom in more than the default zoom level. It's so annoying!! Surely, I'm not the only person experiencing this issue.
Opera Mobile has it.

I did another test on the Samsung infuse today and text reflow definitely works. Now we just need to figure out why Samsung would leave it out of their flagship phone.
Dumbass browser move by Samsung, as well as not having settings for desktop displays.
'Best browser' in the industry: NOT because they don't enable these key features. Idiotic.
Regarding zoom you have to pinch zoom to required level and rotate the phone it auto fits your page in whatever zoom level.you should keep auto rotation on.
