i9000 problem...need help! - Galaxy S I9000 General

Hi. I've just bought a i9000 s galaxy. I've installed kies and connected the phone, then suddenly a sorry message appeared "the application TwLauncher (process com.sec.android.app.twlauncher has stopped working unexpectedly. Please try again. dumpstate_app_201007121612...log has been saved. use *#9900# to copy out log. by pressing force close it appears again n again. I can't get to the homescreen... Any sollution? I've also tried to get in recovery i get this message "downloading... do not turn off target! Thx in advance

The first problem is nothing big, just Force Close it and it'd start up again. (twlauncher is the TouchWhiz shell) If not do a hard reset/Factory reset. I've had a few of them but its usually due to running out of ram, install a auto task killer. Or turn off KIES on the phone via Settings/About/USB/External drive . Sounds like you've flashed something/moved /data .
And the second problem is not a problem agian, No idea why you are putting the machine in Downloading Mode so early after getting your nice new toy and not taking time out to formilarize with it. But ANYHOO, If you want recovery mode its HOME/UP VOL/POWER . While Download Mode is HOME/DOWN VOL/POWER.
Seriously, take time out to play with the normal rom rather thing rushing in and flashing/rooting it as you won't know the basics to even know if you've screwed somethign up. Also you do KNOW that flashing/rooting VOIDS your warranty right?
P.S my phone is already flashed/rooted but I took alot of time out to learn the basics and read alot up about things before I rushed in.

...
thx for your help! meanwhile i've managed to solve the problem! twlauncher error appeared when i connected the phone to kies. By pressing force close it reapearred in every 2sec. What i've done ...was pressing the search button than settings and from there factory reset! the reason why i want to flash it is because i want it to be up to date .. no luck so far with odin... tried on 3 pcs X( BTW great PHONE!

im getting the force close message now, is factoy reset is the only way to fix it? if yes how can i keep my applications after the factory reset ! what application should i use to backup my apps.

Titanium backup / APKoptic
both are available in the market.

[Q] HELP NEEDED: I think I am bricked, not sure

I was attempting to run this lag fix on my Vibrant and now my phone does not boot past the large S, it just sits there with the center of the S glowing every few seconds, then the screen goes black. I can then click the Home key and the keys all light up but screen stays black and the lighted keys never turn off.
I can also hold volume keys and power at this point and boot to Android system recovery screen but can't do much there because either a reinstall packages or reboot causes same issue at the big S. Is there any way to replace the update.zip (for lag fix) sitting on the internal memory so I can reload stock?
Note: I got to the part of that lag fix where it tells you to choose the top option in the MCL Scripting program (6:45 in thee video), while it was in there running the phone rebooted at some point and was extremely slow booting up. I was able to get to a "power-off" prompt there and since then have been stuck at the big S ever since.
Thanks for any help.
I was able to get back to the phone running again by doing a wipe (unfortunately) but now after booted I get an error like so:
Sorry!
------------
The application Web (process com.android.browser) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
dumpstate_app_201008192123_com_android_browser.log has been saved. Use *#9900# to copy out log.
How can I flash my Vibrant back to stock now? I think this is kinda hosed the way it is now. Thanks!
Odin and stock kernel is your option.
Did you make a nandroid backup before you ventured into the lag fix?
EDIT: it should not be in this section
Took me a bit of time but I figured out how to use Odin and boot the phone in download mode and flash it with the stock kernel. Thanks for your help!

Fairly serious problem after Kies firmware update

OK, so today I decided to update my Galaxy S firmware via Kies as it was now available for Vodafone customers. All seemed to go ok, got to the final screen on Kies where it says completed, phone will reboot when firmware update completed. However it never did reboot, the menu and back button lights just lit up and stayed on for ages.
Now the phone would only boots to the Galaxy S start up screen and get stuck.
I decided to go into recovery mode and do a factory reset which sort of helped. The phone boots up into Andorid but only to the 'Welcome to GT-I9000, touch the Android to begin'. Except the 'force close' messages keep popping up saying XXXX process has stopped unexpectedly, and pressing the 'touch android to begin' doesn't do anything (more force close errors pop up). After a while the force close errors stop, but pressing 'the Android' does nothing.
If I plug the USB cable in it is recognised and I can choose Samsung Kies/Mass Storage mode on the phone. However, if I press Samsung Kies and fire up Kies it just gets stuck on 'connecting'. Nothing shows up on on the phone though.
Any ideas on what to do next? Flash firmware with Odin?
Any help would be much appreciated, really don't want to have to send it back to Vodafone
Have you tried unplugging the battery from the device and leaving it for a while and restart it. It may work out....
I've flashed it to JM8 now and is working okish.
I installed the project voodoo lag fix and now I can't sign into my gmail or facebook account which is slightyly irritating . Worked fine before, any ideas why it comes up with "Can't establish a reliable data connection to the server"?
I'm using wifi to connect to the internet, full signal, worked fine in same place before etc. Internet works fine so it suggests the connection is ok. Any ideas?
I had this issue yesterday and resolved it by doing a factory reset in the settings app. For some train the recovery mode reset doesn't reset the google link..
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
lex_87, did you ever resolve this? I've been having a tonne of issues since upgrading to the Vodafone-provided update that was released on 19/09, and after getting fed up with my phone crashing/panicking all the time, did a a factory reset from within the Settings menu. And now I've got exactly the same issue as you.
Really not sure what to do. If I flash it myself I'll end up voiding the warranty and if I send it back to Vodafone, I won't get a replacement for weeks, if not months, as they're out of stock.
Any help would be appreciated...
You need to re-enter your APN settings to get data to work again, Google for vodafone's APN settings.

Hi,
I'm having the same problem, but I didn't manage to enter in to the setup mode in order to do a factory reset. Can you please tell me how can I access factory reset? The phone never recover from a black screen and a few buzz.
Thanks.

[Q] Stuck in Samsung Recovery Utils

Hey everyone!
I have never posted anything on a forum before, so please tell me if I do anything wrong. I have searched everywhere to find a solution for my problem, but I found nothing.
Today I accidentally got into the Samsung Recovery Utils of my galaxy 3. I have done nothing to the phone, all original, nothing flashed or rooted. But now I can't get out of this mode, if I restart the phone it automatically goes back into it.
Does anyone know how to get out of there?
Thank you a lot for helping me!
And I hope that this is the right forum to ask this question, as I said, I have never posted in a forum before.
Usually you should be able to reboot from recovery mode. Scroll to reboot Phone with the Volume Keys and klick with the Home Key... Your phone should restart.
Otherwise remove the battery, wait a few moments, plug the battery back in and try it again.
Good Luck
Thank you, I tried both several times, but I always end up in the recovery mode... I have no idea how i can get out of there! Do you maybe know something else I could do?
do the battery thing mentioned above. turn on your phone with vol up+ vol down+home +power (hold them for a while) and then try rebooting from the menu
here's the solution

Hey.. If ur on a Android 2.1 firmware and stuck on recovery every time...
just use the volume keys and chose the option "reboot" ... by the way.. its on default there.
after that just press the central key or called the "home key" two times consecutively..
ur good to go
I tried this several times, but I always end up in the Recovery Menu. When I pull out the battery, restart the phone and hold all those buttons including the power button my phone shows the Samsung Galaxy Logo and then reboots again, and then shows the Logo and reboots again. Only without holding the power button, and only the other ones I get into the Recovery Menu again. I really hope there is a way to get out of this mode! Thank you for all your help so far!
Hey I just saw the post in front of my other one
So yes I'm on Android 2.1 if that helps. And I tried this method several times, but when my phone restarts I always end up in the recovery mode by pressing nothing.
But thank you
try wipeing data and cache
I tried that out, but still rebooted into recovery mode all the time.
Because I couldn't find anything that solved my problem I just decided to flash my phone to a newer original firmware via odin. I just finished flashing and everything works fine as it did before, till now tho. I used the tutorial that is on this forum for flashing my I5800 and it worked perfectly fine, thank you for everyone's help anyway!
Now I hope that they will soon bring back froyo on kies, because it was deleted from the servers again today in Germany so I can't update. Hope that will happen soon!
I would recommend to forget about KIES... I am sorry but this software is a piece of crap!
Keep using the Odin Flasher. If you have some spare time install gsams nice lagfix and be happy about a very fast Froyo I5800
Edit:
Another funny thing about Kies: You can download the current version by using a US Proxy Server, which is also free of these annoying error messages at startup. But still there are much better alternatives, and the newest version (Kies 5 I think) is also incompatible to the I5800 Phone :-/
Yes, I really hate kies, that software is nothing good!
I think I will follow your advise to continue using odin flasher. Which froyo version is the best to install? I still have 2.1 on my phone. and then how do you install that lagfix? Sorry for all those questions, but I'm new to all this.
Sent from my GT-I5800 using XDA App
you are new to this? ok, then go to the development section and see the READ FIRST thread
I have already read through those threads, I just meant that I just started some days ago, I'm not a pro, I'm only someone who just started haha
So today I flashed to xxjpf froyo and I'm having no problems so far. everything is fine so my problem is solved and in addition I have froyo now

[Q] LG Optimus L3 E405 Recovery Dead?

Hello,
This morning I tried to root my phone so that I can force everything to be moved to a sd card since the storage of the system is low not enough to install apps and to install A mod that is more updated then the current GingerBread OS.
I managed to soft brick the device the rom clearly said e405 obviously the developer has a few bugs anyway I manage to recover from my soft brick by A software 'KDZ' Only issue I have now is when I press volume up on boot I get A notice icon trying to say something (image of the icon is attached below) and when I use ROM Manager to reboot to recovery it will attempt to go there, Instead of going to recovery it goes to A loading page then this erases all my data/apps except SuperUser/Root.
Tried everything and it still does it?
When I use the LG Emergency Software it just goes to a page saying not responding??
Any help and ideas would be grateful so I can fix this issue and move on also im mostly A samsung user and im fairly new to lg.
See thee error message below
Once i get the idea of what the icon is actually trying to say I should be in the right direction.
Thanks,

Perhaps you can go to ROM Manager, uninstall Recovery, then re-install it?
I don't really know. I'm sorta new to this stuff.

I saw that icon after flashing back to stock rom with KDZ and a hard reset worked for me. Pull the battery, make sure you not connected to USB or charger, then press and hold home key and down volume while you press power on. Release power when you see LG logo, hold the down and home for a while until you see android unpacking a box. It takes about a minute to see this, so you gotta wait for it. The phone reboots or shut downs, don't rememberwhich

Still didnt work it flash though but still didnt fix the recovery..
These lg are actually useless a simple firmware flash should do the job.
LG staff are also rude to be honest rang up and because I tried to root and I was doing the right thing going back to stock they denied support and hang up without me giving A reply. Glad ive switched back to samsung s4 and Apple IPhone 5C.
Thanks for attempting to help :.)

[Q] My phone is dead on stock...(due to rooting/unlocked failure?) Please help!

Hello XDAers,
I am a real noob at rooting or android-related, and a true one voided of any knowledge regarding anything IT- related.
So dear veterans, please go easy on me.
Due to my prior success of rooting and flashing my Nexus 4 successfully a few months back with no issues, I decided to give it a try to flash a custom ROM for my dad's LG Optimus L7 - which seemed an easy task compared to configuring my Nexus 4 - since there was no need for inputting any command lines or any dealing with the abd (using the easy shortcut, that is).
So, I followed the guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1906133 ...
I first factory resettled the phone because it was bloated, then applied the "RunMe.bat" from the "What you desire!" folder. (Everything was already backed-up beforehand.) But the process didn't success until I've retried again and again by re-plugging the USB in because the application/PC couldn't detect the phone. In the same time, I was running KDZ_FW_UPD.exe in the background, so unexpectedly for me the phone shut itself and pushed itself to a vividly green emergency screen, then in a few seconds switched back to a screen of purple-white-blue glitches. I had to close KDZ_FW_UPD.exe without knowing what quite happened since it seemed to be the cause and restarted the process with RunMe.bat.
I didn't manage to "Restore" it first due to the fact that the phone stopped responding due to a lag asking for an encryption key. It was lagging so hard and I had to close the cmd around 5 tries while it was processing, but succeeded later on.
And then, to verify whether I've actually suceeded in rooting L7, I installed Root Checker from the Play Store. And again, for the first few tries the program froze on screen for a long period of time due to "system performance", but after rebooting and restarting the app a few times again, the ROOTING proves to be a success. Just to be sure, around this time I've reloaded KDZ_FW_UPD.exe and it suceeded.
So I went to install CWM and ES. CWM for recovery boot and ES for removing pre-installed system apps as the phone was lagging so badly. I've downloaded the CWM restoring(something like ~6.0.28?) first and tried fastbooting immediately right after, but instead of getting the fastboot menu I got a screen emptied in black with these words:
[5020] "Secure booting error"
[5020] "Cause: boot certification verify"
No hard keys could do anything on the presumed "fastboot", and so I had to hard boot again. I thought that it might be due to the lack of memory(checked on ES later on that it was 310~MB/2GB), and so I've used ES to uninstall a lot of system apps which I deemed uneccessary. So I've Googled a bit and it became apparent to me that that I've didn't unlock the device properly, so lurked around and found a file called L7CWM that is supposedly to resolve my problem, but I presume that it's the CWM recovery image that I've installed. So in the end, I didn't bother with it but kept it on tab just in case.
I repeated the same process with CWM again, but this time, the screen was joined with all kinds of flowery glitches. Restarted the device, and it went only downhill: now the Home launcher stayed all pitch black and nothing appeared. I waited a few minutes, but nothing there until the notification bar appeared. The home screen is apparently dead, and so are the menu keys. Switched to Nova Launcher(installed it just in case Home Launcher fails), and still dead. I couldn't access using any of the menu keys and had unusable launchers.
Hopefully I could still access to the settings from my status bar, but when I did, it started crashing immediately.
I've repeated the attempt a few times after restarting the device a few times, but nothing helped. It only got worse that the when the launcher did SEEM to work. It only showed the wallpaper without showing any of the icons/apps. And crashes again.
I could still access to the App menu via the settings, but couldn't open any of them and when I tried to uninstall them, the screen frozes immediately right after I gain access to the page (white page though) and gain this message: "Unfortunately Package Uninstaller Stopped!"
Then I convinced myself that the only thing I could do at the time was to factory reset the phone and then everything would go alright since I've just had to restore the system apps.
But then the black screen of death came right along with it:
"Secure booting error"
It seems that I'm out of luck... ... But just to check if I'm still left with resorts, I've downloaded the L7CWM file online...
... ...but it still didn't help.
So now I'm being left with no other choices other than asking for help. I never really understand what KDZ_FW_UPD.exe does since I had the LG Driver already before installing it, which I presume was for updating the phone to a newer or older version. And too complex tech articles are kind of alien for me.
EDIT(1 hour later): Okay, now I figured out the reason why L7CWM didn't work was because I didn't extract it to the right folder (after double checked via notepad that I was supposed to directly put it into the C:\ drive). Now it worked(?), but then it didn't.
After launching Flash_Bootloader.bat:
This message now appeared on the L7:
"Sorry!"
"SuperSU is not responding.
Would you like to close it?"
"Wait - Report - Close"
and a few minutes later
"Sorry!"
"Unfortunately, SuperSU has stopped."
"Report - OK"
Now I think the bugs till now happened was due to the fact that I've deleted a file that was required for me to launch apps... Now I just need the right fix.
After 5 minutes of screen inactivity the phone restarted by itself, kind of creepy... ...
Flash_Recovery.bat did nothing.
Reboot2Recovery.bat made it reboot but still struck on the same menu.
Nothing seems to be effective via the phone anymore, seems like I have to rely on abd but then again I don't know how... ... My dad is also f*cking pissed off ^ ^;...
