is there any way of converting dvd's to a format which is watchable (.wma?) on xda mini s/Wizard? Which software do I need?
For a start, WMA is audio, not video, so you can't convert to that. You could convert to avi, but to get it onto a memory card, you would have to sacrifice quality and size. Remeber, your average DVD movie is about 7gb.
Try PocketDivxEncoder (free) and The Core Mediaplayer (free).
Hi i have a avi movie that i want to play through the built in HD2 movie player, obviously i need to put it on my 8gb storage card but how and where should i place this movie and get it to play?
Thanks
the avi wont play with the HTC player or WMP. You will have to convert it first to mp4. Either that or get coreplayer that does support avi (divx/xvid) it doesn't support ac3 audio though.
a player called TCPMP will play them and ac3 audio and that is free. Do a search for it on here.
You can put the file anywhere on your card you like mate
it doesnt offer Xvid or DivX support....but can u watch 700 MB downloaded movie files on it?
It all depends on the file format of the video you're trying to watch. To my knowledge, Mediascape is really only capable of opening H.264 formatted videos. So if you DL a movie in that format, sure it cane play it. Otherwise you need third-party software like yxFlash to play other formats of video, or you need to convert the videos to H.264 format using software like Handbrake.
As for ability to playback: I have ripped my Avatar DVD to H.264 at full DVD video size (720x464) and the 900+MB file has no problem playing beautifully.
Depends in what format are movies. Device can't play Divx an Xvid movies (playing is jerky). And there is no player capable of playing divx/xvid movies. But device can play mp4 movies and I can say that picture is great. I also have Avatar, but in 800*480 resolution. You must see that picture
What video format does google play movies use because i want to know so i know what to convert my movies to so that they work with it. I searched it on google but nothing came up. All my movies are usually mkv because its the smallest size so faster download.

First of all, mkv is not a video compression format, it's a container format which has little impact on the file size. The actual video inside an mkv file could be in any number of different formats.
That said, Google drive's documentation days it supports the following video formats:
WebM, .MPEG4, .3GPP, .MOV, .AVI, .MPEGPS, .WMV, .FLV, .ogg
Maybe try one of those.

Maybe just to add to this knowledge: when you save a Google Play Movie to your N10, it saves it as a .wvm file (yes, .wvm not .wmv). The first 10 seconds are non encrypted (so they play if you copy them to an external sd and try to play via OTG cable) but the rest is encrypted and doesn't play. I still haven't figured out software that'll convert .wvm to some other video file. Hopefully someone else has this figured out already.
Thanks to this forum, I was able to find my Samsung Galaxy Hub downloaded movies and move them to the external SD card. Thank you for that!
I've searched the web (and this site) for a way to convert pyv to mp4 or any other format that I can burn to a DVD and watch on tv or at least watch on the 27" desktop monitor. Anyone know of a way to do this?
Thanks,
Monica
To my understanding, the movies lic, is tied to the device you download them, unless a program breaks the security on the movie it won't be possible to rip them.
Now you could try to stream them to your tv.
