alarm - HD2 General

hi all when alarm goes off, it used to bring up screen with snooze or dismiss, now i have to slide unlock phone tap the alarm icon in task bar before i get the screen. help please.

can anyone test for me setting their alarm and put phone into standby, when phone wakes does it display lock screen or the alarm display szooze/dismiss screen. thanks in advance

Hi,
It may sound a bit silly, but is it active in the settings?
Settings -> Menu -> All Settings -> Sounds and Notifications
Check that 'Programs' / 'Notifications (alarms, reminders)' is ticked.
Check, under the Notifications tab, that Event: Reminders has the "Display Message on Screen" option is ticked.

yep this worked, just found it before your post, how would this option have been unticked i didn't do it. could software install have caused this.

Screen turns on with messages/allerts but I wish it didn't

Hi,
I tried to search the older threads but it couldn't find anything.
Could someone tell me how I could stop my phone to turn on when I get a new message or a reminder? And how can I turn off the screen when listening to mp3's on media player?
Thanks!
"I could stop my phone to turn on when I get a new message or a reminder" <-- this is a bit difficult, but tell us your concern and there may be ways around the problem.
Media player, on the playing screen,
Menu -> Options -> Buttons[Tab] -> Toggle Screen
Assign a button for Toggle screen to switch it off.
I mean when my phone is in my pocket and it reminds me of an appointment or an incoming message the screen turns on. I would like the screen remain off and just get an audio warning.
In events and notifications .. have you tried to set the alert to audio notifications .. and dont select the other visible options .. Will that be sufficient?
I agree
Has anyone figured out how to prevent the screen from turning on. I place it in my pocket (with Device Lock) and an event/notification turns the screen on but I have it set off.
Is there some master switch to say only turn screen on with the button push?
Yessir-
Go to Settings->Sounds And Notifications -> after selecting the triggger you want (new email, sms, mms, etc.) then untick the box that says 'display on screen' or something like that. Then the noise will sound, light goes amber, and vibrate still work, but wont trigger the screen to turn on in order to display the message. I use this method for emails, but let sms show up on screen so I can read them w/o going into palm messaging app...

Reminder POP UP WINDOW

Hi All,
Why I don't see a pop up window when their is an active calender reminder or the alarm is on? the window appears only when I enable it.
Is their a tweak to fix it?
Thanks,
system settings/personal/sounds
on the second tab, where you can configure the ringtone, there's more than just the ringtone. You can set the sounds, vibration and notification behaviour for all events. There's also a reminder event.
But I noticed that the reminder notification gets disabled from time to time. Don't know why.

Calendar and alarm notification popup

Hi, can anyone confirm if there is supposed to be a popup notification for alarms and calendar notifications. I seem to only get a notification on the task bar which I can click on to bring up a popup window.
Is there a setting for this somewhere? I would like to have an automatic popup screen with the dismiss/ snooze options.
Thanks

Yes mate, there is.
Go to Settings, Menu, All Settings, Sounds & Notifications, Notifications (tab), and select event type of "Reminders". Make sure "Display message on screen" is ticked and click OK.
That should do the trick
OK, found the cause of the problem. By activating the BsB tweak for an LED display for notifications seems to prevent the popup notification window.

[Q] Vibrate notifications

So all of the sudden when I put my Vibrant on vibrate notifications while at work I will not vibrate for the life of me. Under the text settings as well as gmail email settings I have the vibrate box checked. Shouldn’t it vibrate then each time I get a notification?
Other settings I have are when the phone is in vibrate, the vibrate icon is visible at the top, the silent mode check box is checked as well as the phone vibrate checkbox checked. I checked to make sure it wasn’t the silent mode checkbox that needed to be unchecked as this would put it in ‘not vibrate’ mode at all
Anyone know if I have settings wrong? Please help. Any information would probably help
My Vibrant is rooted with the only modifications being some of the crapware removed
TIA

SMS Content on Lock Screen

I used to be able to see who SMS Texts were actually from on the lock screen with my S6. Now that I have the S8, it only shows that I have an SMS message and it won't show me who it's from unless I actually go into the Messages App? How do I make the sender visible on the lock screen?

Go to settings -> Lock screen and security -> Notifications -> make sure it's on , then go into that menu and make sure you do not have Hide content or notification icons only turned on - also make sure the toggle for all apps is turned on too
Also you have to be using the crappy stock Samsung Messages app, otherwise you won't get that little bubble notification or the edge screen light up. Was very annoyed to see both of those things disabled from working if you use Android Messages or any other app.

I went to Settings > Lock screen and security > Notifications (which is turned on) and then into that menu. In that menu I have the "Hide Content" toggle turned off - the "Notification icons only - Hide notification details and show only the icon" toggle turned off. The toggle for "All Apps" is On. But when I get a SMS message, it only shows "Messages" on the lock screen... not who it's actually from like it used to do with my Galaxy S6. What am I doing wrong?

Not anymore - Textra jsut updated last night and it has the option for Android heads up notification (ie Edge lighting) so you can choose which style.
Jsut tested and it works perfectly

Ever figure this out? I can't. I have done all of the above and gone into the message app and allowed for content to be displayed and gone into the always on display and allowed for content to be displayed. I am using the native message app. I still just get a message icon on my lock screen. No content. Super frustrating!
Reset all setting

I has the same issue. I had googled a million times. Finally had a bright idea.... Go to setting > about phone > down at the bottom should say reset > reset all settings.
This doesn't erase your phone, only sets it back to default stiff like background, notifications, ringtones etc. BUT it finally shows the messages!
Any other suggestions on this? I've tried everything in this thread, including resetting my settings to default. Driving me nuts. After being on the pixel for the past 7 months until now, I've gotten very used to being able to see previews on the lock screen and replying from the lock screen too. I have all the appropriate settings checked that should be allowing me to see previews, but it doesn't. All I want is for the screen to briefly wake up when a text comes through, and to be able to preview it. Is this supposed to be possible on the S8?

SAME ISSUES HERE -- samsung s8/t-mobile
it seems as though the "show content" option for notifications has disappeared on the Samsung S8... I've tried everything i can think of and searched several boards and come up unsuccessful... the only options for notifications on a lock screen (at least for me - Samsung S8 on t-mobile) are: :hide content" or "do not show notifications".. both of which are not helpful when attempting to view the sender's name while hiding their actual text... HELP!
It works on textra under settings then customise notifications then at the bottom u will see privacy settings in there u can have it to show contact but hide message. Hope that's what you wanted. Cheers.

The only way I found to get to the lock screen and view/reply to text message is to double tap the home button first.
It's anoying additional step, but I'm trying to get used to it.

I am not sure if you have found a fix for this or not but.... Last week I accidentally factory reset my phone and lost everything. I still had my old phone and was able to transfer all that was there back over, but my screen stopped lighting up with new notifications. After spending the last hour trying to fix it I was successful!
Settings > Apps> Messages > gear icon above Force Stop > About Messages > update
I really hope this helps others.
