Hello everyone. I just rooted my INC and downloaded the tethering APP. It will start up and I can start the tethering process. When I get on my mac (OS X 10.5) I can see the phone and can select it but there is no internet connection. I have been reading around and its being said that you have to make sure your kernel is tether enabled and that it supports netfilter/iptables. I have 2.6.29-cc1c2268 does anyone know if this kernel works with the tethering app you find in the marketplace. If it is does anyone have any idea why i cant get internet on the tethered device? I have tried changing the channels and I have tried to turn access control on and off with no luck. Any ideas on where to go from here?

I was having the same problem. I'm on Windows 7 64bit. What I did was follow these steps from unrevoked. http://www.unrevoked.com/rootwiki/doku.php?id=public:adb_in_recovery
follow the steps at the bottom after outside of recovery. download that .bin file. make a folder on your sd card labeled "android.tether" and put that .bin file in it. after i did that wifi tether worked no problems.
Thanks for the suggestion, I tried that but it doesnt seem to be working. Im not sure what they are doing with all the commands that look like a DOS prompt are they doing that in recovery mode or something? Im on a mac i just downloaded the file placed it on a created folder. Was there a step I missed? I am new to the world of android phones coming from a BB so I may be misunderstanding this at some point

I didn't do any of those steps. I just hooked up my phone to my computer and set it as a disk drive so my computer could see my sd card. I went into my sd card and made a folder named android.tether and put the .bin file in that folder. after that wifi tether worked for me.
Damn well it doesnt seem to be working here Ive tried my mac my pc and my Ipod with no luck just wont connect what Kernel are you running?
OK OK so I might be a total idiot but I haven't relabeled the drives (both showed as unknown) when they show on the screen and I installed the file on the internal memory not the SD. After switching this IT WORKED! You are a genius man thanks for the help! I know it was a stupid mistake.

I'm having trouble conecting my phone to my pc while on android. There is no problem when wm 6.5 is on. And i have no idea where the problem is. I've tried droidexplorer , it found my phone, but showed it as empty.
So if anyone can give me a solution.
anyone ?
what are you trying to accomplish, I use the bluetopia build with a windows 7 machine, and usb usb mass storage to move files, and htc sync for contacts or anything else. both work fine.
Its like my PC doesn't recongnize the phone (when android is on)... Like i haven't plugged anything.
I ended up having to use these drivers in order to get adb to work for me as the phone wasn't recognized on my pc either. Should also work for root explorer as well. I cannot remember who originally posted these drivers so I don't take credit for the discovery. Hope this helps.
i've installed it, but how can i transfer files to my phone ? Cus i cant see it anywhere. I tried droid explorer (think this is the correct name) but it doesnt recognize it...

Why don't you just set up ADB?
Gudie for setup
What version of windows are you using? Have you installed the android sdk? Is usb debugging checked?
Hi,
I’m running into an odd problem.
I have a Google Nexus 7 Tablet. I’ve unlocked and rooted it with the Toolkit. I’m attaching it via USB on a Windows 7, 64 bit system. I’ve installed the PDANet drivers.
I’ve made a back up of my tablet using Titanium Backup. Within the Titanium Backup directory are many small files, that I’d like to copy back onto my desktop for safe keeping.
However every time I copy the directory over to my PC using Windows Explorer, only a fraction of files get copied, I’d say about 20%. I’ve tried it several times, but, can’t seem to get it to do a complete copy. I’ve tried selecting the entire directory and the all the files (select all) without success.
When you plug in the micro USB cable to your tablet, does it automatically go into mass storage mode (though I have selected Mass Storage mode as my option).
I’m coming from several Samsung devices and I know there are a few ways to enable mass storage mode on them, and at a minimum, you have to choose to mount the SD card. Is there something similar with Asus devices?
What am I missing?
Thanks!
I rarely send files via the USB port... normally just use the wifi connection. Just sent all the TI backup files via AndFTP to a server over WiFi and it only a little more than 5 minutes.
I then for the first time, hooked up the N7 to my USB to transfer the files to my notebook.
Didn't make any changes.
Created a new directory on my Notebook (Win7Pro) and then opened the drive on the N7, found the TitaniumBackup directory and selected all the file (not the directory holding them).
Took about 5 mins to move the files which was about the same as the Wifi transfer.
Not errors, and all the files got there.
Not sure if that helps you...
Oh. the N7 is rooted with TWRP recovery on it but otherwise Stock.
BTW.. this morning I tried this app which is a sync app between my workstation at home and the Droid. Worked good enough I upgraded and now have a number of manual syncs setup (droid to computer)

Hi krelvinaz,
Thanks for taking the time to test that for me. I did exactly the same procedure as you. I'll play with it some more and see if it was just a bad driver install or something. Perhaps I'll try it on my laptop at work...
And thanks very much for the link... that app does look promising indeed. I really appreciate that it doesn't sync with the cloud, but with my pc. That's great.
Thanks again for your help!
Update:
Ok, well I tried to copy the same files on my work laptop, which is running XP, and without any additional drivers, and it stopped at exactly the same place, at one particular file.
I then deleted that one backup file, and tried to copy the directly again, and it worked. I then tried again on my Windows 7, 64 bit desktop and it too was successful!
I guess that file was corrupted or something.
I'm glad I figured it out, and thanks again krelvinaz.
I got my N7 today. Just plugged in USB to my computer and copied my "backup-apps" folder and my MP3 folder from my phone. Moved very fast, now I have about 150 .apk's I can install if I have recognition problems with the Play store, and 2000 songs.... using up my "16" gb fast... about time to root and add stickmount.

Do you have developer options unlocked and turned on ?
to enable developer options -> hit the build number in about device about ten times. It will give you confirmation that developer options have been unlocked
in the settings>more>developer options .. turn it on and enable usb debugging.
after this connect your phone to mac , you might have to click ok on your phone to a popup notification.

Yea, everything is on, it had to be to root it. I just can't connect to my Mac or PC, I get a pop up saying I don't have one of the following installed, regarding to the android file transfer for Mac or the windows media or something on PC which is crap, I have everything installed that's needed. Android file transfer just says cannot connect to phone when I connect it.

Not on the Mac. I was using Android file transfer for my note 2 but it won't work for either now.
That happens to me sometimes. Rebooting the phone, and rebooting the mac usually fixes it for me. Not sure what triggers it.

Sorry, was on vacation in Colorado. Now I did have kies installed and I tried uninstalling and rebooting but still doing it. Now I only moved kies to the trash, is that the way to uninstall on MAC? I'm new to MAC and that's all I found on removing a program.
yes, just move it from your app folder to trash
if that doesn't work see if it has an uninstall by right clicking--don't think so though
remove it from trash too-- i don't use it on iMac
Hello, I have a sprint Samsung galaxy s4 that is on version 4.3 and latest bandwidth, I just rooted it and I'm about to try adding a custom rom to see if it can fix my issue.
My issue is that I can't pay sprint bill so, it's deactivated by Sprint and when I updated from 4.2 to 4.3 my wifi stopped working and now I can't get it to work again. I just want to use my device with wifi for now. If anyone can solve this issue please write on my thread and help me out.
Thank you for your time.
The custom rom just finished downloading and now I can't transfer the zip file on to my phone's internal storage, it keeps getting denied. Anyone know how to get it on the without an sd card?
I just tried copying the zip folder to the sd card and it's not letting me. HELP?

have someone download it for you and BT it over......bout the only other way....you should check and make sure that your phone is mounted to your computer correctly and that your trying to place the .zip in the correct storage location. also i usually have USB debugging on and have never had any problems.....to turn on usb debugging go to about phone>tap on where it say build number 7-9 times untill developer options are enabled>check usb debugging. hope this helps
If you have another Android device you can use superbeam on both to transfer the file to the device. Download the rom on one device and use superbeam to send it to the S4. It uses QR code so you will need a QR scanner which is in the play store. Or use a card reader to connect to your SD card to move the file. Honestly I would just use superbeam if possible. Have you tried to run Odin or kies to re-install the MJA update?

there should be no reason you cant just xfer to your phone from your computer. check drivers, security, admin rights. do the same for your device your rooted so make sure there is nothing conflicting. on a side note get a sd card (and sdcard reader for your comp if necessary).....itll make life easier. if you already have one try copying all your files to internal and reformat the card then try again......its something small and simple your missing here. it could even be the cable your using......
I'll be darned if I can find an answer on this, which is weird, because I was able to 'fix' this on three prior phones.
When you connect (to Windows 7 PC in my case) via USB, the system detects and mounts a new USB drive (as a drive letter device) and pops up an Autoplay window. If allowed, it will install the drivers. Handy? The first time, yes. Many times later? Lightly annoying. *shrug*
Who's got the skinny on a solution for this "issue". LOL

Me! You'll need to have root access though. All you need to do is delete the /system/etc/usb_drivers.iso file and you're done.

Do copy before. If you lose those drivers you need to look for them on internet, there is no official drivers or I couldn't find them. What about disable autoplay from usb on Windows.

I renamed, adding .bak to the filename. Seems to have worked. (After I otherwise solved my problem with access to root files that ES File Manager couldn't grant access to, that is. Solid Explorer FTW)
I looked at Windows-side options, but I needed to solve the root access problem anyway, so... Also, I wanted to disable it for just this volume and it was unclear how feasible it would be for a single volume. I think I saw something about it being able to be on a per-volume (using unique ID) but didn't dig very far.
