Menu Icons 4 all ROMS

Hi guys.. i am very bored of the standard custom icons shown into Start-> Programs... so tonight i have done a cab which installs a "minimum.dll" file, which is an icon library, and who make follow dirs into the menu:
Applications
Games
Internet
Multimedia
Phone
System
Utility
Mobile Office
Network
In every dir there is an icon. file which has a string inside:
#\Windows\minimum.dll,-4
By changing the number, you can assign a different icon to the folder you're in.
If some rom cooker wants its custom set of icons.. pm me.. HERE is a good archive of icons
Attached the CAB, no need to reboot, & image of avaiable icons in Minimum icon set and its relative code.
SEE ALSO POST n°5
Nice work dear. Applause for it..
I think I will try to Cook my own rom using this. Thank will let you know how it works.
For Italian friends who asked for... tonight i'll post 3 Icons pack in cab format, note that the one posted is in english (..just rename folders' name in "programmi" directory
be patient
Ok guys, i have no time to make the cabs because i'm very busy at this time, however it's VERY SIMPLE.
All is explained in the first post (concerning the icon.lnk file inside the folder to skin).
In each zip there is the dll, to copy in \windows, and an image which describes the icon number.
If someone provide me some good icons, i'll pack them into a dll file.
To see the name of iconpack's image, wait with the mouse over and erad the filename.jpg
Thanks a lot mate
Youre the man!
I tried..
God job, thanks for information & sharing
hi there. Very good job but i can't understand how to install them
Lovely
I like this a lot!!
It is VGA icons? Or QVGA?
both resolutions
Great, Thanks a lot.
How do I create my own .dll? I have a lot of icons but no instruction to create a .dll of them.
If there a chance to pimp the folder background from white to some other colour or picture?

Hi SkizZO, How do I create my own .dll?
Thank you.
You have to pack 16x16,32x32, 64x64 images to an .ico file, or edit an .ico file deleting unwanted resolutions...
Then group all icons, numbered & ordered in an "Icon library"
I've used ArtIcons Pro to do this. The icon library has the .icl extension.
Now you have to compile it into a dll (I have used GConvert)
Remember that WM supports 256 colors icons, so if you use more colors, is wasted space.
PS: Post your icons here!!!
any chance i could use some folders with the same style as the ones already on my phone? ie the yellow games folder etc...

No... It's been missing for a long time..
and the one circulating I made from the T-mobile theme
But I'm guessing if u find it, it will probably be from an old TF3D version and be slow and sluggish..?
But what I can see... the only difference from standard TF3D and this one is the white background and Black font text...
So It shouldn't be long until we can edit the coding in manila files and change those things hopefully!
than you for your reply.i have extracted the theme from the rom.
all 438 _manila file
it works well. its fast and smooth.
i can upload if you want (they are only _manila files)

ok... only 438 manila files
usually like 800 - 1000 manila files...
but the in the Sprint manila files there is 531 files, they are just getting smaller all the time
Is it from a 1.93 rom or older?
Would be very nice if u could upload it

two questions...
what operator does it come from and is it for a TouchPro?
sweeet!
i've been looking for a white theme for a while, and this is exactly what i was looking for.
everything oposite to the standard diamond homescreen
has anyone had trouble using tf3d config utility to apply this theme?
i've renamed the .rar to .theme and when i click apply, tf3d config has encountered an error and tells me to quit and restart.
I rather use tf3d config to apply the theme, jsut so i can revert back to the original theme just incase.
unless someone can make a cab installed for this?

I've put all the files in my Windows folder. Everything works fine(so far as i can see)
Only the clock don't work. It sticks on 0:00 hour..
sorry dubblepost..
you might wanna try doing it again.
i just used resco explorer to manually overwrite the files, and my clock is working perfectly!
nope , resco doesn't do it.
...I took the manila files of the clock en put them in my black theme. Looks nice..
i have overwritten the old _manila file with total commander.
And all works fine.
The file its a rar not a ZIP.
You have to deompress and recompress as a ZIP noa s RAR then rename it as a.theme
it should work
Pamas Theme
Congratulations Pamas!

theme: what if release memory? how?

I have a big issue when install a new theme by TF3D CONFIG, my main memory reduced to just 2.85mb
So i figured out what if to release the memory after installed new theme, can i do it? how to do it ?

Before doing anything, try a soft reset. If your memory is the same, try downloading htcAddicts CleanRam.It's here.search for it.If still you don't have enough memory,I would recommend you changing your ROM

Changing themes with TF3D Config takes 10 or 20 MB. I think it takes less memory if you copy & paste the manila files to the windows dir by yourself.
That overwrites the existing files and doesn't take much memory.

But when installing the theme by TF3D config with .theme file, so it looks I have to extract all manila files from the theme file, how to extract them out??
another question, when overwrites the existing files with the extracted files, so whether it'll be no chance for me to restore the default theme back again???
It's the main new issue what I was afraid to!!!
pls let me know how ...
thank you very much, dude.

Hey, I think you can change the xxx.theme to xxx.zip and unzip the files.
Before you copy the files you should make a backup of your manila files (or the complete windows dir.) Whatever you want
If you don't like the new manila theme you can either copy the old files back to the windows directory or you could delete the (extracted)manila files from your windows dir. After a reboot the old - original manila files are restored and your old theme is back again

[SOLVED]Cooking themes into ROMs

Hi
How does one cook a custom theme into a ROM and make that the default theme? I've tried editing quite a few registry entrys and it still does not work.
Another question along the same lines, how do i cook in a custom today wallpaper? I've tried changing registry entrys here as well but it didn't work either
Thanks
Mod edit: Solved thread
well...
long history here...
First.. the themes for 6.5 and 6.5.X are not the same theme, so genereally if you want to cook inside a theme that you have made... simply be sure that you have a TSK that contains all the registry entries for images and the two images in JPG format with your size screen set them as "read only" and "archive" attribs then save the cab as winmo cab then rename it from .cab to .tsk then.... put it into a EXT pkg in your EVK kitchen or whatever you have EVK or OSK make a pkg called "my theme name" inside a folder called "FILES" inside that folder all images of the theme and the TSK too... then go to your RUNCC or autoinstall or however you have and set in the txt file this comand...
TSK: \Windows\My theme name.tsk
at the end of the file this way in the botting procces frist customization the theme will be set as default
is the dirt way but you can make it safely instead of changing many regs that simply you will forgot the original
Y'all must to remember that if you want to patch the theme or install a them in a runing working rom in teh device you must to trust sign the TSK but if you are cooking the kitchen will do it for you
The wall paper is easy: just set whatever pic you want as the wallpaper using either Home-settings or the pic and video tool. Then open \windows, and look for the newest files. You'll see two files named stwater_###x###.png or something very similar (could be tdywater). Grab these two files and then when you're editing a .tsk file, include the files in it. Now you're done.
If you want to cook the theme straight into the rom, then you need to dump all of the reg keys and put them into an app.reg file in a package that runs at the end of the build. Name your two wallpaper files (portrait and landscape) "classicblue_stwater_480_640.jpg" and "classicblue_stwater_640_480.jpg," and stick them in the same EXT. (To get the proper names for your device, look in (SYS\Build#\dpi_192_resh_480_resv_640\COMMON\base_dpi_192_resh_480_resv_640), obviously with the proper resolution.) Look through your add2config.txt or config.txt files, and make sure that no other stock .tsk is run during customization.
I know i to cook a theme and set as default and blabla....but its interesting know how to trust sign the TSK when i make a theme.cab to put in a working rom...can you explain?

A way that bobsbbq has taught me, and has worked for a 6.5.5 theme
make a new folder in your EXT packes, called whatever the theme is, and in there make another folder called files, in the files folder copy across everything in the theme's cab. then go back into the root of the themes package folder and make a new text document called add2config in there paste the following:
TSK: \Windows\XXXX.tsk
where XXXX is the exact name of yout .tsk file found in the themes cab (so it will also be in the files folder if you want to copy the file name exactly.
Save the text document and then just select it in your kitchen

I started having problems with Farmer Ted's way so I tried this one instead. It works perfectly except for one thing, that it needs a restart before it's effective. Is there any way to get it working on first boot?
I use this one:
OEM\ExtendedPKG\config.txt
Code:
LOCK:Enabled
TSK: \WINDOWS\Htc_black.tsk
LOCK:Disabled
RST: Reset
This will set that theme on first boot, of course you need to have RunnCC running.
You must change Htc_black.tsk with your tsk name.

EDIT: I noticed if i go to settings/home, it is set as the default theme (it's hilighted) but it's not actually visible anywhere.
EDIT2: Never mind it's sorted out. I went back to Farmer Ted's way and got it to work exactly how I wanted it.

btw, how do you select a default Wallpaper for Manila's Home Tab?
sometimes you need to take your theme tsk rename it to .cab open it with cab manager and change the pics inside
the manila use as default a pic inside the EXT or OEM pkg it contains the manila app... search for the image and just replace it same size, and attributes.

what would the image name be? in EXT Manila.exe is only in Manila_Core and I don't have any image there except Manila files...

Customizing start menu items

Guys,
Some tips regarding customizing start menu items are solved in this thread. Here you can find the links to them.
Great tutorials pointed by AndrewSH:

Also you can check alternative raving_nanza way - put all icons into one DLL.

The problem in changing bluetooth icon when the link to it is moved from settings to connection menu is solved by AndrewSH :

Thanks everybody in helping hand!
Skyguar, if you're going to customize the ready rom - you should also modify HKLM/Security/Shell/StartInfo/Start to define the new folders and items of your future StartMenu. All shortcuts made by cplmain.cpl and other cpls should be redefined to MyCpl.cpl to enable custom position (like for example moving Bluetooth to Connections instead of Settings)....
But you should remember that any hardreset will destroy your customization - so better save your registry edits and custom png files into one cab.
If you're going to cook the new rom with your own custom StartMenu order - the story is a bit more sophisticated.
But normally - you should read this before ...

I'm busy now to write detailed howto, but hopefully you still able to read in Russian - it's not so far from my land to your - only 170 km between our cities
So read here and further on in the topic - maybe this helps

Yeah, that's fine , this is what I needed but I couldn't find. Thank you very much!
you could just create a .dll with your icons inside and then link your custom .lnk with the icon inside the .dll?
*if you want me to teach you how, just private message me, ill teach you how to do it this way.
eg inside the .lnk would be this:
#\windows\XXXX.exe ?\windows\XXXX.dll,-X
(-X is the number position of the icon inside the .dll)
or
change the icon inside the XXXX.exe (some .exe do not like their icons being changed, eg they stop working )
tbh it is a lot better than the way your trying to do it, it is a lot more "cleaner" to do it this way, you do not need to add registrys or clog up the windows folder with image after image when you can have one single .dll
thanks

what do you meen = hide Settings icon, which point to manila settings menu..?
*if you go to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ControlPanel\" you should see the one for manila settings.
*it might be listed under "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ControlPanel\mycpl"
*if it is it will be listed as a number, for example "\mycpl\000"
*search all the strings inside and one should launch the manila settings
when you find it just add
"hide"=dword:00000001
and it should dissapear
