Overclock Over 998Mhz - EVO 4G General

Hi!! Im try overclock my evo to get over 998mhz. My phone it rooted with Unrevoked 3 and when i try over clock with SETCPU 1.6 or last version, also Overclock Widget . Both doesnt go over 998mhz.
Anything i need to do, to get over 998mhZ at least 1.1?
Ps: I got hw 003, when i used hw 002 take me over 998mhz

You need a custom kernel brosef.

+1 .

What you recommend me to get a custom Kernel? Please xda reference

I got it custom kernel and work fine. I got 1190MHZ now and i got a benchmark MFLOPS 8.202 Time: 0.66 seconds.
Its good?

[Q] Overclocking Doubt

Hi guys,
I finally got my Desire Z today, I have root it with visionary 14 without a problem.
Now that it is root I tried to overclock it, but I cant overclock it more than 800 mhz.
Is this normal or do I need to do something more?
Thanks a lot in advance

you will need to install either a custom rom (which will have an overclocking kernel) or just a overclocking kernel (bother of these options require s-off and custom recovery)
or you can push the overclocking modules to the phone, however you will lose this and have to re-do each time you reboot the phone.
Thanks for the answers

Does it really makes a difference to overclock it to 1ghz??
Well i oc to 1.4ghz and it really smoothens it out it heavy load situations. Newsrob with tons of news is really quickly updating now.brwsr and opera mobile is dazzling fast with wifi n. Im really fond of it.

I don't think so. If you follow the oc method offered earlier by someone here, the oc sticks, it does not undo itself.
Correct.

Nice reading.
That is an overclocking kernel just like I said before, so I am correct.

[Q] Overclocking With HCDR's Kernel.

First, I would acknowledge the great work HCDR has done !
With that done, I would like to resolve some of my doubts.
I just flashed CM7 and then 4.1 kernel of HCDR.Jacob.
SetCPU allows me to set max CPU speed of 768.. I keep it at 691 with on-demand scaling, but it automatically reverts back to 591 over a period of time.
Can anyone tell me why this happens ?!
Also, any insight on how this modes work would be appreciated.
If I want to manually want to force my phone to operate at a certain speed, how do I do that ?
Thanks,
P
If u are using CM7 why are using SetCPU?
CM7 has it's own OC settings features.. settings>> cyanogenmod settings>>>performance>>>cpu settings

Why are you flashing HCDR kernel? It's not necessary to do that anymore in CM7.

Thanks. I did not know that.
Is there anyway, I can revert back to original CM7 kernel. Coz I already flashed that kernel. Does it even make a difference ?!
One more thing, what CPU governor should be chosen ?!
I would want my phone to be auto-OCed when I play games but DCed when idle.
Would "on-demand" be a good choice ?! Or "smartass" is better ?

In CM7 RC2 this option is not available. This is why i using setCPU app too.

point in the right direction - overclock mods

Hi all,
amazed by all the knowledge on this site! used the search tool but cant make heads or tails or it
so please could someone point me in the right direction towards overclocking or to liter mods than the HTC. as the phone is good, but things like Angry Birds etc, just drop frame rate etc.
Thanks all
Install Cyanogenmod 7, you can overclock from cyanogenmod settings. There you can set max cpu mhz and min. cpu mhz, as well as governors wich control the frequency.
If you want to keep sense then use wildpuzzle v8 with the overclock kernel then get setcpu from the market thats if you dont want to use cyanogenmod anyway

Thanks for the replys guys, but after some googling i couldnt find a guide in which i feel safe in attempting.. does any know where there is some kind of step by step?
Thanks again
After rooting, I installed the nFinity mc4 kernel on my Froyo stock rom... Very easy and quick to do.
Now I can under/overclock and Angry Birds is working perfectly!

I did the same, no need to flash a custom rum. Just flash the kernel you like in recovery and install SetCPU from the market and u can overclock the CPU and set profiles (screen off etc)

I'm using it for three days now, and it's stable. No freezes. I have set the minimum to 245Mhz and maximum to 691Mhz...

Same here : 3 days, no problem!
Using no-frills CPU Control, which is free and 245/710!

Easiest way to overclock

What is the easiest way to overclock, I know that a different kernel is needed to overclock, but does overclocking require a completely new ROM
Thank You!
You only need a new kernel if you're running stock froyo.
There's a lot of apps on the market that offer overclocking (SetCPU is a nice one)
Easiest way to overclock is choosing cm7. No extra apps or kernels needed. It has inbuilt oc kernel and options for setting CPU frequency. And greater stability at higher clocks too.

Sorry to be a pain; do you have an idea of which kernel I should use?
Some other user might give better info, since I'm not using an HTC Sense based rom/stock.

Overclocking the MXP

So i've meaning to ask, have anyone tried to overclock the MXP? I mean like overclock past thought 1200MHz and so on?
and the overheating issue is a b*tch being to me when i try to overclock it with "Kernel Adiutor",of course I couldn't past through the 1200MHz limitation but hey, it was an interesting experiment.

Its a kernel thing.
There are cheap Chinese phones out there with better specs than this phone. Rather than overclocking & risking to damage it, I would say getting those phones are a good alternative solution.

Try the latest squid kernel. The overclock is just mild to keep everything stable.

The kernel must also support this overclock and the only option you have is squids kernel. 1209Mhz on the little and 1708Mhz on the big cores is the limit at this moment. You cant overclock a stock kernel only using a kernel manager.
