i feel sorry for all the suckers who installed the ota 2.2 upgrade on their evo's. also any replacement or new phones that come from sprint have 2.2 on them so they cannot root at all.
im wondering how many came back to the hero for the time being?

yeah... i bet they're going "damn im throwing away a fully functional, faster, flash enabled device for the hero until i can root again!"

ive actually seen several users on ppcgeeks go back to the tp2 & hero for now. they need the tether.
i cannot begin to tell you how many customers ive had want their ota 2.2 rooted and when i tell them i cannot they get pissed and a few even put them up for sale.

yeah, my brother dwizzy130 just got his EVO last night. Came w/ 2.2 already on it. Not too worried though, root will come soon

hopefully, yes.

I'm confident that they will have a root soon... but I would NEVER install on OTA update on a rooted phone!

if you want it for free you do. that's what 99% of the users want anyways. i cannot begin to tell you how many phones ive rooted over the summer for my customers just to tether for free. screw that $30 charge.

no these are people who know nothing about hacking or rooting. they come to me because they heard it could be done. not to mention ive made a few friendships with sprint corporate gurus who paid me to root & unlock their phones too.

Got called in the office at work, fraud investigations, Hero's fault!

Today as I was getting ready to leave work I was called into the IM's office at work. He told me have a seat as he needed to "interrogate" me. I was a little scared to say the least though I had done nothing wrong. My IM manager asked me when the last time I was in Norway, hmmm. I let him know I never been out of the U.S. minus Tijuana He proceeded to tell my user name was logged into the company work order website (aka Econnect)on a monday I was at work. Feeling re-leaved I explained I was out in the country and my tablet PC (company issued) would not get a signal (verison) so I used my phones browser to log in. I explained that I must have been roaming while logging in. We laughed a bit and then I showed off my custom HTC Hero He was amazed at every thing my Hero could do, and the Rom (extremely blue cm6). Needless to say I am not to long into the Econnect system from my phone again I have to use the old fashion method to close work orders if my tablet is not in range, cellular phone. I just hope they dont catch on to the wifi hotspot from my phone! I use that to connect the receivers to the internet I install satellite TV and the provider pays extra for internet connected boxes

Hopefully you didn't tell them about this site... lol

Hey guys I'm coming from the HTC inspire to HTC evo. Over at the inspire forums they have a super one click option to take s off and root the device it was very simple with video instructions as well. What's the easiest way you guys have here to root the evo? I was looking at a thread but it has about 50 steps any other way around that? Is there a super one click option?

unfortunately... those of us with the OTA update are stuck with rootless EVO's...
the fortunate users had previously rooted their phones with a drag and drop i believe... (don't take my word on that, i joined the root sensation a little late... hence my rootless phone) but i think it was like 5 steps er so... it didn't look too bad and it was even easier for you if your on a linux platformed pc with unrevoked er sumthing like that...
either way the EVO is an outstanding phone and i stand by it, until something better comes out... (not the nexus s)

If you have a android 2.2 model go to http://unrevoked.com/#evo for the easiest to use tool around.
If you have android 2.3.3 go to http://vaseline.com/ and lube up because you are screwed until someone releases an exploit

from what I've read on numerous threads on here, 99% of the new ones are coming with 2.3, even the refurbs.

IT seems some best buys still have 2.2 stock they are pushing. Who knows how long this will last

so you guys don't have a way to go back to stock not even with h boot? That sucks man. I'll probably stay with the inspire for now. HTC sense comes with stock 2.3 and they got "s" off already according to HTC clay on twitter I hope soon some dev will root the new evo with 2.3

Why would you switch from the inspire to the evo? its practically the same phone. We own both

unfortunately i belong to the latter of the two...

I'm switching to sprint because I don't get great signal at work. They have an sprint antenna on the roof and anyone that has a sprint phone can run 4g all day long and also I like the front facing camera too something that the inspire don't have.

The only thing front facing cameras are good for are porn with a gf and face security to log into the phone with. *of course the programs on the market don't actually work with a rooted evo* haha

Tips for Increasing Battery life

I found this link in the thread for the new MikG ROM, I did all of this when I was trying out ShiftDeck and noticed a massive increase in battery life.
Just did all (most) of the steps on MikG and even though the ROM hasn't settled in because I just flashed the ROM last night, I am still noticing some increases in battery life .

I'm sorry for your loss..

I have a 2 year old terror for a son, that is constantly playing with my phone. The blue htc case has been the best purchase i have made in a long time. It definitely beefs up the phone enough to withsatnd majority of his punishment. He did manage to break something because my keyboard lights rarely work... But thats nothing compared to if he would crack my screen... Come on root so i can get a new phone with working keyboard lights.

there is skins for sense 2.1 to atleast take care of the nasty sense 2.1, all i wanna do is get back to themeing aswell cause the stock icons are horrid to look to look at. mainly the battery, i miss 1% battery mod.

We all feel your pain . Guess it's going to be a minute before your able to do anything for the community . Dammm you HTC .

you could always try a different Launcher so that it will look different...

If you're lookin for a sense 3.0 like lockescreen try Agile Lock from the market, been using it on my evo for a week or so and loving it. In order to get all the functionality out of it you'll have to download 4 or 5 apps from within the agile lock app. They're all in Japenese or Chinese, can't read either so not sure which language it actually is, but just download and install them then you can delete them. Once the app is unlocked it functions almost just like the 3.0 lockscreen.

As far as children, I think my 15 y.o. looked at some pR0n on my shift the other day. I spent hours deciding how to sterilize it, in the event that he diddled himself, without blitzing the circuits. My first impulse was to soak it in bleach for a day or two. How's that for some FML?????

Because the RUU checks the hboot and says you've got the wrong one and fails.

I know your saying is correct, but if it is simply just that, how come with revolutionary on other phones you can run a RUU and it'll reset the phone but keep s-off? Or is it because revolutionary just does something crazy?

Dunno. I may be wrong in the above too. I've been lucky enough to keep my root and haven't actually been paying much attention to the problem of rooting the 2.3 OTA.
