3G instead of EV on Sprint

Looking for a simple way to replace the EV with 3G on the task bar icon.
Any help appreciated!
Go into a 3G zone and it will say 3G
All the icon files are acually in your phone.... meaning the 3G one is in there as well. I would assume you could just copy and rename the 3G one to whatever the EV symbol is to replace it... I could very well be wrong though.
Question though, if your EV says 3G how will you know if you're in a 3G area or not?
On a CDMA device, 3G is EVDO. Whenever you have EVDO showing, that means you're in a 3G area.
By default, it will not explicitly show the 3G icon.

How can I change only my 3G icon ?

I noticed my phone has the H icon but I believe it is only because the 3G icon was replaced with that, so in order to make positively sure I would like to just change my 3G icon to one which definately displays "3G"... any help ? thanks in advance!

Switch between 2G only & 3G only !

Hello everybody,
I'd like to share this trick to easily switch between 2g only & 3g only network modes.
basically, all you need is dial ##3282# then, from the bottom line, go to parameters and then switch to the mode you want.
For faster access, you can also create a contact with phone number ##3282#, call it 3g (f.e.) and pin it to the homescreen !
Bye
It works! Thank you, great share
Thank you, learn, try this trick look!
Oh, that's useful.
Thanks!
Awesome find...!!!
Hi
Why I would like to do such thing ?
I guess 2G is "E" icon and 3G is ... "3G" icon. You don't want to switch to "H" or "G" icons ?

Click to collapse
"Such thing" can help when 3G coverage is weak and the system keeps on switching to 2G WHILE YOU PREFER to stay on 3G !!!!!
Obvious "things" are sometimes hard to see .... (n'est-il pas ?)
I see, thanks.
moving to general section
That's helpful!

[Q] Aurora ICS - HSDPA icon

One of the things I've noticed about the Aurora ICS ROM (2.02) is that my X5 no longer shows the H connection in the notification bar - 3G is the norm. I don't think the speed has dropped at all from the stock ROMs I have been using.
Does anyone else see (or not see) the same thing? Is the H icon missing?
Yes, you are right for the icon, it only shows 3G. But don't worry, if your operator provides HSPA service, your phone will still connect to this service, only icon won't change like in 2.2 and 2.3 stock ROM's. But there are some apps that can change the status bar icons, i use the rom toolbox, but I don't know if the icon packs have the 3G/H changing status. For me it's not a problem, I know to what service the phone is connected simply by speed it's transferring the data.
Cheer Schrauff - thought is was a bit unusual, but I can live with it

Sprint 1x Indicator instead of "3G"

Sprint does this thing where they display "3G" even when the phone is only connected using 1xRTT.
Does anyone know if there's a way to make the phone show 1x for 1xRTT and 3G for EVDO and eHRPD? There's a big difference between 1x and EVDO (60-130Kbps vs 750-1800Kbps) where I live and it'd be nice to know at a glance without having to open Settings->About->Status->SIM Status
Signal check will show what band/ connection type in status bar.
This Signal Check? Is that a pro-only feature? I'm not seeing anything about status bar in the Lite version of that app.
An app running in the background is ok, but I'm really more interested in something like flashing a new icon or changing a hidden setting or something. I'm currently on stock rom, but would changing ROMs fix the icon?
Yep looks like it's pro only
I found the free version of LTE Discovery can also do this, it just doesn't start on bootup.
