I have about 20GB of music in my iTune. Now just realised that my Samsung Galaxy S internal storage is too small for that. Therefore I think it must be stored on external storage card.
I've just downloaded a program called doubletwist. I have a few questions:
1) How do I turn on mass storage mode on SGS so that doubletwist can see it?
2) How do I tell doubletwist that I want the music to go to storage card instead of internal storage?
3) Has anyone of you experience problem when music is on storage card, such as skipping of part of songs?
4) Is it a better idea to scale down my music collection so that it fits into internal memory?
TIA.
Just wondering, can't you just copy the music files into a folder you call, let's say, music on your SD card, and start up the samsung music player? It'll recognize the files and let you play them.
Or is there any special reason for you to use DoubleTwist?

I might be wrong, I want the iTune rating, playlist, and artwork to be synced as well. Will your method work?

The Music app seems to load every audio file on my internal and sd card memory. How can I make it so that Music will only check my music folders? I tried the .nomedia trick but everything still shows up. I appreciate any help.
Does anybody else have this issue? I have audio books, recorded calls, voice memos, etc showing up in winamp, music, etc
Really? Im the only one here with this problem?
what i have done for every phone i have had is make a music only folder on the sd card and no other files in the folder and it works perfect.
i dont really think winamp and the default music player have folder options but i think power amp does
I do only have music in my music folder. these players are grabbing all audio files, even ones they can't play for some reason (ie: wav), from every folder on both the internal and sd memory. i have put a ".nomedia" file in all other folders besides the one with my music ion it and still no good. i will take a look at this power amp though.
Okay checked out power amp. it does have folder options which totally fixes my issue but it's a paid app... you shouldnt have to pay for this kind of feature.
hmm..that is weird.. I also just created a 'Music' folder on my SD card, and my music player has no problems.. it doesn't see anything else but that folder for music..
I stuck all my ringtones, notifications, alerts on the internal SD like this:
\media\Audio\Alarms
\media\Audio\Notifications
\media\Audio\Ringtones
those do not show up in my music list when I open the music player..

What is format of SD Card? What is format of songs. I have a large amount of music on removable SD card and music app sees it all. Try exploring music and select a song on removable card to play. should open player, which might help.
I also have this issue and more..

I have the keyboard and the sd card is using the standard 32bit format. music is in the media folder copied from my hts desire, same as pictures and movies.
All of which work on the desire but are not visable through any of the default installed apps, I have also installed various free apps which again do not show the files.
I can play them seperatly via file explorer and they play properly but do not stay in the history.
Contacted Asus who suggested that I clear the apps cache via settinges/ applications etc.
Tried that several times including reboot before opening apps and no joy.
Also having the issues with google maps downloaded and cached maps. only work on internal memory.
Not rooted yet but depending on these issues will either root or return.
The media services will only recognize internal memory and /mnt/sdcard.
You have to move any music/videos/pictures manually into internal memory or sd card.
The Music app and gallery find the stuff on my Micro SD without a problem.
I haven't been able to find a way to tell Google Music to use my SD card for downloading/ cacheing music.
Is there anything I can do to get Google Music to use my SD card for music storage?

You can use Rom Toolbox to create a shortcut of the directory you want music to be stored to in the /data/data/com.google.android.music/files/ folder. Make sure you rename the shortcut "music"
I have a 64gig micro SD card and placed music and movie files on there. For a day it worked fine..I was able to play music via samsungs music player and PlayerPro app. Now for whatever reason my phone does not see mp3 on my microSD card. I can still however play movies from my sdcard. Anyone have a similar experience?
I don't think the card is going bad as I can still play movies from it. I think it might be a setting issue.
Quick update. I can navigate to my SD card using My Files app and play the files but the stock music player or 3rd party music player cannot view the files.
Ended up reformatting and restoring sd card. Its a bit annoying since the phone was able to read the sd card still.. just the apps was not able to see whats on there.
I noticed, that the Samsung music player does not show music files which are stored on the external sd.
Is there any solution for this? Apart from moving the music to the internal storage or using another player app?

That is very strange, I keep all 320+ mp3 songs all on my external sd card
and the note 4 plays em all just like all the other android phones I have had.
Good luck!
Indeed strange. Just now I noticed that my music files are showing up twice. The ones in internal memory and the ones on SD card.
Interestingly not all music files on SD are shown?
EDIT: I think I got it. after removing every none-music file from the Music directory and its subdirectories everything seems to work now from external sd.
I guess there were some .nomedia files which were confusing the media scanner.
