Hey! I'm facing a strange problem. I flashed to the JG1 firmware, after which my Facebook contacts don't get any pictures. Just a few of them do, I've synced and re-synced several times, set my SNS sync to 1 hour, removed the account and re-added it, yet to no avail.
Has anyone else faced this problem? or does anyone know what to do? I really don't like having my contacts without a picture.
So I tried adding pictures for a few contacts yesterday. The contacts were 'phone' contacts and the pictures I chose were from the album. Most of them caused an FC for 'android.process.acore'. Of the times that didn't result in an FC, NONE of the contacts updated! They all remained blank.
Out of say 529 Facebook contacts, only around 10 have their pictures.
Help please!

Hello,
I used the "link acounts" facility for the first time on my Leo last night, after having it working on my Touch Pro for a long time, rather than linking the accounts, it has created duplicate contacts in my phone...very, very annoying.
Is there any way of turning these leo/facebook-created contacts off or deleting them before I sync the phone with Outlook and have to go through and delete them all there?
Thanks,
Max.
Not sure how you managed to get it to create duplicates? All it does is link the contact on your phone with there face book. Worked fine on mine.
Edit: Just a thought are you showing your Sim Contacts as well? I found that enabled by default i think. So when i copied my contacts to the phone i had double. Maybe you are just using the contacts from the SIM but then linking them to facebook caused it to copy them over.
Nope, not using any contacts on the SIM, and I have no idea it either, but it didn't link accounts, it just created new contacts for the Facebook contacts, alongside my old contacts. The new Facebook versions have a small "F" (facebook) logo in the bottom left of their contact picture to indicate they are linked. The old contact doesn't.
Max.
Just in case anyone else has this problem, I sync'd my phone, ordered all the contacts in Outlook by "Created" date and then deleted the ones created by the Facebook link. Weirdly, the links were instantly transferred to the correct contacts and life can once again go on as we know it.
Thanks to bzdemes for the reply.
it happened for me too. not all the fb contact where duplicated but just some.. random... well i don't know why but i've deleted one (the one not linked).

There are a lot of complaints on Google's android support forum regarding this issue. At least one person solved it by wiping their phone, but that's apparently not a cure for everyone. Apparently this is a known issue, and as usual, Google is not being helpful.
I'm having the same problem with picasa sync. I tried with Hard reset but no luck it still showing error and not syncing with picasa album. all other google services are working fine.

I was having the same problem - It was only grabbing a few old albums of mine and not syncing the newer albums from my Picasa Web Albums - I was so frustrated! But after careful examination, I noticed my wife's Picasa account was the one logged in on the Picasa desktop app, so consequently, it synced all the photos to her web albums and not mine. So I logged out of hers, logged into mine, synced to my web albums, and instantly all my pictures synced to my N1. Hope that helps anybody else having this problem.

it does'nt make sense... you just logged out of your wife's account from YOUR nexus one?
But all of us are having problem for not being able to sync the picasa album at all with our own account...
So what you are saying is that we need to log in onto computer from our account and then the phone should be able to sync the album to N1 while we are logged onto computer ?
please update us with more detailed instructions .. it will be very helpful if you can be more precise
i too am unable to sync with picasa. This is mainly because I created the picasa account after registering the phone and signing in. Using the Cyanogen Recovery image and wiping the phone right now to see if that fixes my issue.
Ill update if it did.
Yup confirmed...
I am running CM 5.0 Beta 5 and doing the Settings > Privacy > Factory Reset doesn't work.. I had to boot into the Recovery Image and do a full wipe of dalvik-cache as well as system wipe.
I just lost all my apps and have to redownload everything however Picasa sync is now showing up for me.
For many people this problem seems to be because they have an @googlemail.com account (even if you sign in with @gmail, the server knows that @googlemail is canonical). A bug has been filed: http://b.android.com/6431
If you look in comments 1 and 2 of that bug, you'll see support forums where Google stated on 19th January that they're aware of the bug and working on it. I have proved that for me in particular it is definitely because of @googlemail, see comment 4 of the bug.
I am facing a general problem with facebook integration in my new Legend. I've set up a facebook sync. When I link a contact in phone (google contact) with a contact from facebook, I can't afterwards see the albums of the contact or see the updates in people application. The link is working, because I am able to set the contact picture also from facebook, but updates and albums from facebook are not working. I tried also to hard reset the device and set it up again, but it did not help. Aren't you facing the same problem? I've opened a ticket to HTC, but I have to wait until they receive a Legend to their office :-D.
I'm signed in to the Facebook using Friend Connect application and in the detail of the contact in "People" application I can see updates for each connected Google contact <- Facebook contact. Updates are working for the Facebook status as well as for photos.
A cannot check it with Twitter, because I do not have any valid contact there
so, now the problem is solved. I started to have also problems with gmail contacts which refused to sync with gmail. Syncing was so strange, it was duplicating 2 contacts every time in gmail ... grrr horrible.
Then I deleted all contacts in gmail, also all contacts in phone, I cleared the cache for google contacts app. Afterwards I restored contacts from my last .csv backup in gmail and after sync all contact were back in phone. I lost all photos of my contacts, so I had to link most of them with facebook contacts. But it solved the problem. The integration with facebook is working again .. I was very happy yesterday.
Great
Thanks for the info
Ok this is weird. If I go into my messages all of my contact pictures have disappeared. The contact pictures are all there if I go to the contacts in people. I have the same problem in Handcent. Anyone have any ideas?
This happened to me once on the Evo. Make sure your contacts are stored somewhere (like Gmail, Exchange, etc.) then go into your phone, turn off synching (VERY IMPORTANT) then delete the account on your phone (wherever the pics are coming from (facebook, google, etc.) then just re-add it and re-sync. It worked for me.
Same thing happened to me this morning and I was going to post something here but figured that no one else would have this problem...Now when I try to go into Accounts and Sync it force closes on me.
In my Contacts app, I have Facebook and other accounts syncing all contacts. The contact pictures show up fine.
However in the built-in SMS app, the contact pictures don't show up.
I have tried un-syncing all contacts, then re-syncing. No difference.
Any ideas?
Thx!
I have this same problem.
Anyone have any ideas here?
