Find and delete the folder MSMETADATA and its contents then update the wm library - this is a known problem.
Mike
reclaiming lost space on card
just some extra info regarding this issue
before I knew about the delete msmedata file solution I found that when I tried to update the library it would seem to hang the phone while adding files. While this was happening I looked at the available memory on the card and saw it quickly running down to 0mb. It was as if the phone was trying to copy duplicates of all my audio files. I could not find these files even though they were obviously taking up the space on the card, and so could not delete them. The only way I could reclaim this space was to back up the files that I did want, formatted the card and finally copied the wanted files back onto the card. Space reclaimed.
Maybe there's a simpler work around for this that I am unaware of but if not, I hope this helps someone.
Until aku 3 or higer comes out you have to live with this crappy work around. This is one of the reasons the Hermes is a toy rather than a tool

Not that I want to perpetuate the inane toy versus tool debate, but I have a claw hammer thats a very good hammer but crap at nail removal for which I have a more specialised tool - I do use it for taking out nails though when I don't have the special tool to hand. Now would you say my hammer is a toy not a tool because some aspects of what it does are not as good as others - in fact that hammer won't remove a nail at all if its flush to the wood. Just a thought.

too late!
Surely the toy/tool thing is purely subjective? When I'm playing poker on my tytn, it's a toy. When I'm finishing off a spreadsheet for work or doing my accounts, it's a tool.
Well, that title being said, I have a weird Mini SD card problem!
As you can see in the attachment, something seriously spooked my 2GB SD card into submission. I can't delete this "program files" folder, and I can't even access it when the card is in my 8125.
Great just when I finally set up all my programs lol.
I don't know what caused this problem, I think maybe installing egress and having the today plugin running rapidly.
Anyway I'm just going to salvage what I can from the card and format it, but incase someone else ever has this problem, does anyone have a solution?
The only thing you can do is reformat it. That happens to a lot of people.

Thanks for the answer. I think! :Argh: hehe
If your card can be read in the PC without any problems then it could be you share the same problem as me:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=321273
you may want to try some settings as mentioned or referred to in that thread (or some different ROMs) ...
Have not got any answers yet. Will try to cook my own ROM using one of the ROM thats works with the SD card as a base once I have time..
Hi all,
Long time lurker, first time poster. Firstly, thank you to everyone for such an informative forum, I have learnt a lot from so many of you!
Now, on to my question/problem:
I would like to have my albums (MP3 format) which are stored on my SD card to be available in the Music section of Touch-Flo, but I cannot work out how to do this. I have installed Advanced Configuration Tool v3.3, and modified the default location for audio files, but when I acces the Music section of the Touch-Flo menu, I still only see the two default songs. I can access the file through Windows Media Player no problem, but it would be good, and easier, to access them through Touch-Flo.
Some information on my phone: HTC Diamond 2, standard ROM, WM6.1 (no modifcations).
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you in advance!

Manila should see all of your songs on your storage card.
Do you have them several folders deep or?
You may try reinserting your SD card and see if it brings the songs in.

Thanks for the reply.
I have several files on there (as well as rintones in MP3 format), and it still only sees the 2 default songs, even after re-inserting the card.
The directory structure is:
\Storage Card\Music\Album Name\Filename.mp3
\Storage Card\Ringtones\Filename.mp3
Thanks again!
Hi. It should normally appear in the audio section of TF3D. Try to click on "library" and then "playlists" (maybe there is a different expression of it in english, dunno .. I have a language localization of my country) then try to add new playlist and your songs should appear. Hope it helped.
I had this happen when the SD card wasnt being recognised, have you tried another SD card?
How many MP3 files you have? Try to reduce them.
Thanks for all the suggestions. I have solved the issue, and thought I would post back here for anyone else having the same problem.
vikicek: unfortunatley, this didn't help. I could access the files through the library, but not through TouchFlo.
mlk: the card is fine, as it works in other devices
rspillo: At the time of testing, there were only 3 mp3 files on the card.
After trying a lot of different things, a hard reset, and a rom upgrade has fixed the problem. I was also unable to Sync with any of my PCs, so I suspect there was something fishy going on inside my standard rom.
Thanks again for all your help! Very much appreciated!
Glad to hear all is now fixed, so gently back to lurking you go!

I think I will be a bit more active now - with the foot in the door and such Looking at developing some ROMs in the near future.
I dont know this guys but this is annoying..
From last 3 builds 23563,66,68 i have strange problem in manila in music tab when i play the songs it keep on next songs one by one very fast even without playing single of them...
plz help..
* Mod EDIT *
Additional details here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6430024&postcount=7
finally i got the solution..
its the mega audio manager that act madly..
i just change that to IOLITE stuff and i got the dream rom..
happy days
mmmm
try to recmod the media modules...
if not works... there is a skiping fix for WMP around, in a cab
but before that i have no problem..
this things r come in to reality by 23563 and higher build????
i dont know.. i dislike to use manilla in my roms worst the mega manilla is huge for my poor hermes... but nobodys has this issue at least one manilla user say so... too
If you're going to try out different modules, don't re-cook the rom, just convert them to files and add them to your windows folder with total commander and soft reset. It's a lot easier to de-bug things that way, and less frustrating than re-cooking/re-flashing, and still having the same issue.
But, I'd just follow Q's advice and send manila to the recycle bin.
but all u know guys that even i m consistently build rom without manilla people from htc elf demanding more and more manila flavour
so i have to..
Music Tab Problem! SYS Related? [CHEFS PLEASE HELP!!!]
Hi, Ive just finished my rom build and I have noticed a problem I am having with the music tab, Im not sure if its due to that amount of music I have loaded on my sd card or not but I never noticed it before, I have however just updated to the 23568 SYS but that cant be the problem as SYS has nothing to do with the manila music package.
When the rom loads for the first time after flashing, if you go onto the music controls, it scrolls through all the songs super quick until it gettings down to the song name furthest down the alphabet, and then pressing play does nothing what so ever. And so if you then go into the library and pick a song from an album, again it will zo down to the last song in that album.
I have tried using the manila music package from 2.10 and 2.11 (even though they are the same) and I have disabled the taskbar which I was having problems with in terms of not displaying a speak icon in the taskbar, then it loosing the htc volume control, but still it does this glitch. I switched back to an old taskbar I was using and that made no difference either so it must be something new, I am now cooking with the backup kitchen I made yesterday which still has a 23566 SYS just to see...
EDIT: I have just cooked it with and without the 23568 SYS, with it I had the music problem, so I am assuming they are related
Has anyone run into this problem before? is it an easy fix? I did some searching but nothing turned up
Thanks in advance

Hmm weird, I was thinking maybe its a codec issue? and its skippig through all the songs as it cant play any.
You say WMP, do you mean windows media player? cus I mean manila music tab. I saw in your thread it was suggested to recmod the media files, which ones are they in the sys?

Thought I had sent both of you a PM indicating the merge ... my bad, sorry.
As the issue you both described seems to be related, I merged the two threads and adjusted the title.
Regards,
solution found...
i also have this problem
I think its codecs issue because i can play some of audio files and I have this issue with videos also skiping very fast
I have tried anther mediaos package but same thing
before I can solve it by disabling mlu service in 23553
but now nothing happen even with disabling mlu service or <mul service > ithink
cheers
This iussues it's related to audiomanager from mega, it's happen when you try to cook a rom with manila including this version of audiomanager.
I have had my HD2 for about a year now and are going to hard reset it for the 3rd time. I am not very fund of Manila, and have been using the SPB Mobile Shell until now (love the flexability). However now that I am resetting it once more, what is the must have installations for music, video and performance, and most important, which OS to go for? Should I try to gingerbread it and go Android, or is there Win7 possibilities?
Any advice appreciated!
WinMo7 is possible but I would go for Energy 6.5.5 29xxx builds, they have non sence builds with android style homescreen so may have something of interest.
I find sense with CHT mod hard to beat myself & well setup wm6.5.5 is hard to beat in all round professional use.
For video coreplayer, music (i use HTC sence player) but pocket player is very good.
If serious on Android I would recommend try a native device for a while to see if you really like it !

Thanks for the reply. The reason for thinking of converting to android was basically due to apps and such, but is really not a must. I've seen a few vids on youtube of how to convert to WinMo7 and Android, and it looks pretty straight forward, however if something goes wrong, could you easily go back to the original setup?
Also, I've seen some vids of the energy 6.5.5 setup, and it looks like the standard HTC theme, with some added possibilities for shortcuts etc. However, if this is manly the only reason I am pretty sure I would rather continue to use SPB Mobile Shell.
I too was a WinMo fan for years and only started on Android for fun, didnt expect to migrate. I started of just booting it now and again via SD card from widows untill I realised I was using it more and more till the point where it was automatically booting after windows on startup via bootloader.
Now ive been using Android non-stop for about a year first on my blackstone (HD1) and now on my Leo (HD2).
I honestly think you should just go the Android route on your device and leave WM6.5 behind like the rest of us. You can even use SPB Mobile shell on there if you like (leaked version) that way you still have same experience you had before but with all the apps/games of android.
And yes, to answer your question is extremely easy to go back if you change your mind. To revert everything you simply flash WM6.5 rom back on via tri-color bootloader (hold vol down and press power).
The posts above have given you very good sound advice. The only thing I want to add is before going completely Andriod with a NAND ROM. Try a Andriod SD card build first to see if you really want to go full on Andriod.
@ TheATHEiST, thanks. Thats the sort of advice I was looking for
@ T-Macgnolia, Sounds very vice to try a SD version first. I am currently using a SanDisk 16GB HC card, but I think it is pretty slow compared to the faster ones (judging from the price I paid).
By doing android via SD card, what is the easiest route for installing? Seen so many different guides, hard to know which work best.

If you have the 16GB SD card that comes with the T-Mobile HD2 it works great, this is the card I use for my SD Andriod build. All SD Andriod builds are the same, all you do is download the build, extract the zip file, (most builds create and extract to a folder named Andriod) copy the Andriodine folder to theroot of your SD card, then use the file explorer to open the Andriod folder and touch on CLCAD first to enable the sound in Andriod (it will appear as nothing appended but that is normal), then touch on HARET and you will see a box that says "Booting Leniux" then you will see a black screen with tiny writting at the top left corner of the phone screen then you will see the black screen with HTC in green then the screen will go completely black for a bit (some builds have a custom s reengineering for here so it may be different), last you will see the lock screen for the Andriod and you are booted and ready to go. Remember the first boot can take up to five to ten minutes so be patient but the .pot up time will not be that long after the first time.
Ok, dosent seems like its too diffucult then. The SD card that came with the phone only had 2GB storage capacity so I bought the 16GB straight away. Do I need to do a backup on the SD card? I have alot of photos etc. Also, I probably need a radio update (not that I've managed to understand what the radio is, except it does not play music ^^,)?

Yes I highly recomend making a back up copy of your SD card as the Adriod is going to make several folders and things on your SD card on the first bootup. This way you will know what was on there before you booted Andriod. I also suggest you flash radio version 2.15.50.14 as it is the latest radio version and it works good with Andriod be it SD or NAND. The radio is whaf controls certain aspects like your phone reception, voice quality, and such. Go the the master radio threadcthat is stickied in the HD2 Windows Mobile development forum here on XDA to learn more about it and you can download that radio version to flash there.

Ok, thaks alot for the help. I will give it a try after I backup the SD card. Any particular SD-card Android version you recommend?
edit: I found this list http://android.hd2roms.com/
Besides from knowing I want a SD version I am not sure which I should try. Just go for the one that was updated most recently?

Do you have a active data connection at all? If you have one then the APN is set for your carrier but if you do not then you will have to set up your APN settings. I do appologize as the only APN settings I know is the ones for US T-Mobile.So unless house are a US T-Mobile customer I do not know them. You can probabky Google your carrier or search g their web site and find the APN you need to enter. In Andriod go to Settings/Wireless and Networks/ Wireless connection (I think doing this from memory here) then touch on APN then press the Windows hard Start button and touchon add.
Android is the best
